  1. I'm sure there's some sort of monk with the rage ability. :P
  2. The time period is high fantasy, but in a world that isn't necessarily as rosy as one might envision it. The thing is that, instead of being ready-built adventurers with 16s in every stat, the characters are like regular people, and have flaws and weaknesses, as well as strengths. Adventurers will probably not be able to win every fight, so they might take the chance of a strategic retreat or a diversion. The real-life thing is optional (remember that I won't know either way), but I thought it would help people make smarter decisions and care about their characters more. And it's wizards and rogues and paladins. :P In the end, you can play anything that you enjoy playing, as the focus is more of a group of ragtag people trying to survive the "zombie apocalypse" than playing your real life character. If you choose to play a real-life character, then you can go into as much or as little detail as you want, or changing things about the character. It's more of a fun and interesting that you can do, but it is not required. I just thought it might be something that people might be interested in doing, which would create a different campaign dynamic than "I'm a hero, so I can kill anything." tl;dr Starting out more as a regular person than a hero, in a dystopian fantasy setting. Level one (so just starting out) of a "heroic (PC) class" ----- You can choose any class from the approved sources. It's not strictly "you in real life", but what you might have become if you lived in a fantasy setting. Most humanoid races are also okay, except for the Dhampir. It is more about personality than actual skill. I'm assuming that everyone here is a human, but if an elf fits more with your mentality, than you can go with an elf. And Mask is correct that other threats will be just as dangerous as the undead threat. A big thing is about smart tactics, because the ten point buy makes each of you weaker than a standard level one character, while still facing the same level monsters. And while healing and resurrection might be common-place at the beginning of the game, unless the party is extremely successful, things usually get worse before they get better. Also, I don't like railroading, so I'll be dropping plot hooks and seeing what the party decides. There is never a situation where you have to do something, but often it makes the situation better or combat easier.
  3. I don't mind some optimization, as most of the characters are starting kinda gimped anyways with the point buy. I will do some research into using a bear trap as a weapon (and the other improv weapons) and get back to you on that. While it is not all undead, you are correct in thinking that it is particularly undead-heavy.
  4. I don't think this is the place to get into a discussion about the suckage of monks (or the lack thereof). Although I can give you some links if you'd like.

    Couldst thou explaineth?
  6. Yes please, Grim. Those look very helpful, thanks!
  7. Sorry to disappoint, Nex. :) Edit: Heh Mather, that may be true.
  8. Some of them will have DR/Slashing or DR/Bludgeoning. I'll look into the undead thing. The campaign is going to have lots of FUN kinds of undead, so DR/slashing will be the least of your concerns. Generally, I will put a mixed bag of things into each encounter, so no one is useless at one point or another. In addition to the few types on the SRD, I will be looking into Libris Mortis (splatbook from 3.5) and converting some of the things over to Pathfinder. PFSRD is lacking on cool, undead stuff. <_< I am someone that believes in going with the rules, but just because it's an undead campaign doesn't mean that all the enemies are going to be generic. That would be dull. :P
  9. All the stuff on SRD (with a few exceptions) is allowed. If you really can't find something from Pathfinder, then just PM me about the 3.5 material and I'll just check to see if it works.
  10. Ah, no problem.
  11. Maptools, version 1.3.b81 http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=downloads#MapTool
  12. Don't worry, we can walk you through it. I will start the campaign easy-ish to help everyone learn, but since it is dystopian, death might become more common later on. Also, since I'm pretty sure that no one here is actually evil in real life, if there is something that requires evil to work (or consorting with demons or whatever), just talk to me about it, so we can work that out. Some tweaks might be in order.
  13. Lots of credit goes to Archi, who will also be playing the game. (But since he's hosting the server and throwing together some maps, he'll be roleplaying that he doesn't know what's going on) Archi suggested that sessions be conducted on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings. It is possible we could also go onto Saturday afternoon if Rogue Trader is not running.
  14. Earth sat on the edge of his seat, wringing his water bottle and imagining the death of a goblin that his character on the tabletop was grappling. Grim and Wyvren looked on the scene impassively, waiting for their next chance to spring a dramatic monologue. As her turn approached, Retech sat with trouser wetting excitement, waiting for the exact moment to unleash an avalanche of rules from the mountain of DnD books that she carried around. Even though he knew what was going on, Spork continued to shout at inoppertune moments, "WHAT THE F IS GOING ON HERE." Nex was ready to smack Earth over the head, but he noticed something from the corner of his eye... It was Archi, writing and writing...and writing. Nex wondered if Archi ever went to sleep. With a knowing smile, Archi looked up and looks at Nex, "Not really." There was a knock at the door, and Retech, being the closest to the entrance, went over and opened it. She closed it as if she was under the effects of haste. "Guys, we have a problem. There is a shambling hoard of zombies coming right towards us. Even with twice our current level of optimization, we will be unable to hold them off for very long." A rusted and splintered spear passes through the door with a thundering crack and impales her in the stomach. "Well, this should save some supplies," she says, before falling to the floor. Now for rules and guidelines: 1. This is a Pathfinder game, starting from level one. The characters that you make will hopefully be reflected (not necessary, as I will never be able to know) on your own self in real life. Think of your strengths and weaknesses and try to apply them here. 2. Use the guideline that 10 on the attribute scale is roughly the human average. We will be using a ten point buy system, to keep it so that we are not superheroes, yet strong enough not to be utterly destroyed. 3. Each character will start with 4,000 gp worth of items, your choice, to help balance out the lack of point buy. Just keep in mind that the setting is dystopian an many of your supplies will not replenish for a while, so bring what you need. Travel light! There is a lot of movement in this game, and escaping from zombies in a cart is not so easy. Bags of holding are recommended. 4. There are a LOT OF ZOMBIES. Zombies are immune to sneak attack, so keep that in mind. 5. As this is a homebrew setting, the existing gods for other settings do not exist. Clerics receive their powers from ideals only, not gods. If there is something that has a pre-requisite of a god, but that is unavailable, we can work to modify it so it can be used.\ 6. Non-uberpowerful classes receive 15 point buy at the beginning. ---- Also, trying to work out a time for this.

    Play we DnD today?
  16. That has to be Jen. Duelwielding ice weapons and looking evil is her schtick!
  17. Heh, Jen looks postively evil and almost exactly as I envisioned her. The only thing is that her hair should be slightly bluer, so it's tinged with ice. Bravo!
  18. Retech replied to Grim_'s topic in Falador Tavern
Dungeonmaster = Powergaming DnD that is played while waiting for your sessions. There is no pretense of roleplaying with it, and as surprising as it may seem, I would like to play a roleplaying game too.
  19. Or, human instruments would detect a huge "vein of metals" in the ground and start trying to extract your PS3s.
  20. >Rolls a natural 1 on Knowledge (Countries that aren't America) >Hopes that modifier is high enough to know enough about Britain >Adds a +5 circumstance bonus for being on a forum with Brits >Adds -10 untyped bonus for being an American for Knowledge (Countries that aren't America) >??? >Wonders why Archi expected an American to know anything about Britain Editted for the sake of the national psyche of the Brits. America rulez, though.
  21. >Teacher's spirit haunts you >Spirit tries to possess you >Try to get priest to exorcise the "demon" >Wife thinks you had an affair and using excuse of demon to cover it up >Proves that you didn't have an affair >Wife thinks you're insane and leaves you >You exit house early next morning to go to work >Gets hit by car >Would have survived if you left a few minutes later (time it takes to wait for wife to finish using the bathroom)
  22. And then you discover that the teacher put in a zero for the gradebook, and you weep because you've just been demoted by a letter grade!
  23. Well like Archi said, it doesn't have to be challenge rating appropriate. He was going to send CR 7-11 creatures at us (designed to face a party of four level 7s), so it doesn't matter much if you send CR 8. I mean, we're going to be optimising and powergaming a lot, so not a problem.
  24. Level 4, I believe. --- Can you get into Ruby Knight Vindicator by level 4? In Pathfinder, skills are limited by class level (or was it HD?), so it might not be possible to get into chuck by 4th level. And a 4th level on the way to Chuck would be waylaid by CR 7-11 monsters.
  25. Yeah, this is the game to go totally excessive in every way possible, aside from literally super game breaking (Pun pun comes to mind). Naturally I will be playing both. :P
