  1. Remember there are a lot of other reasons the wildy is as quiet as it is now. Free trade removal drove a lot of people away, and back in 2007 pvp was a much larger proportion of the game. Nowadays we have many more bosses/skills/minigames/d&ds to be getting on with, not to mention the efficiency trend of recent years which would judge pvp a waste of time.
  2. I guess the $15 figure is to cover themselves if a very small number of people end up playing it, so they'll atleast make some profit afterall. They still need to pay salaries to the people doing critical upgrades at the end of the day, and that cost needs to be covered if its a dedicated team. One thing, the additional membership cost would be in addition to your current members fee right? I can see Jagex getting some flak for that =/
  3. Around 13:00 I think. For reference: 14k votes at 14:00 27k at 15:00 It seems to get 20-30 votes every 2-3 seconds. (i was refreshing, keep in mind that wont be totally acurate i guess.) Also the good thing about it is now people are coming out of school. Peak time would be around 8-11pm GMT. Due to eastcoast america coming out of school and work. The weekend will be nice to see :D The real indicators will be after a full 24 hours, and after the weekend has passed. After that I assume everyone that feels strongly about it will have voted and the incoming votes will slow significantly. Try to look at the changes in votes over a larger time frame than a few seconds for a more accurate picture though :P Should hit 50k easily, maybe 250k ($15 is a bit much for an 07 server but $5 seems reasonable) but I doubt it'l hit 500-750k.

  5. I agree I'd like to see that number, just for the sake of knowing the numbers. Also it would give a more honest opinion, a firm no is better than abstaining and then being pressured into a yes, though I can't see that happening that much Edit; I don't think there was ever any doubt of this hitting 50k :P It'll be interesting to see what the final count ends up as, with ~1.3m active members 750k would be a big ask
  6. Eh the more pressure they put on people to do something the less likely they are to do it anyway. It's not like there's any negative repercussions for not voting to force them into it
  7. Everyone starts at level 3, no holiday rares (phats etc) will be introduced.
  8. I thought the whole point of the server was to not have any updates, much like RSC. If they actually start re-implementing updates it'd feel quite strange to me. I understand the need for bugfix updates and such but real content updates would seem strange. Also I wonder would jagex design these from scratch or just follow things that were added the game game after 07 anyway. The Grand Exchange is a likely candidate for addition, although I know a lot of players in support of 2007 are heavily against this, and I'd support it not being added. However it is part of everyday RS life, and I wonder how many would try to vote it in down to convenience. Updates could potentially ruin what people want out of 07 rs =/
  9. So the vote is on, going to be interesting watching it progress. The vote total after the entirity of today and also the weekend will be good. I don't think the 750k bracket is attainable or a healthy option for the servers anyway, so I'm expecting an outcome of between 250k-500k, maybe tipping over the 500k margin with some luck. One thing I've wondered, a question to those of you that would play rs07, would you prefer it to receive major updates or not? I'd have thought there would a worry of them again changing the game a bit too far :P I don't mean smaller updates like resting, interface conveniences, more like things such as GWD and soforth.
  10. Very well said! I even checked their Fb page to see if I could find the original EoC post, but I couldn't. I guess I didn't dig deep enough! That'd still be skewed by having existed for so much longer too.
  11. Firstly I don't see the relevance to platinum myrs post, aside from you directing it at anyone vaguely pro-eoc. 1) 2007 rs is probably the biggest game-changer for runescape since the eoc. Any post on it is bound to get a lot of attention, especially if it's being shared everywhere for more exposure (which it is 2.7k shares). 2) Those EoC changes were incredibly minor. Changes to dragon lp and dungeoneering defence are incredibly underwhelming considering the changes that are expected. Berserk and resonance were nerfed (quite rightly) but I doubt people were happy with it. Just because the second post mentions eoc does not mean you can take it as an indicator of eoc popularity. There are no statistics we can currently find that will give us a good idea until we wait for the vote to progress
  12. In a few months time we'll have HTML5 which should be a significant improvement. The game runs fine enough anyway, though java doesn't do it any favours thats for sure Personally I find EoC more fun than the old style of combat. So I'll take gameplay and graphics quite happily :P
  13. Everyone starts from scratch, level 3.
  14. EoC isn't all bad, and a lot of the benefits are fixes to serious flaws in the previous system. Just having a balanced dps in tiers across all styles is a great step forwards (even if some parts are currently bugged)
  15. My first snipe in a while:
  16. My reason for not voting is that I don't believe EoC was a step in the wrong direction. However, dividing the game/community in two is. Obviously the existence of 07 servers will generate jagex more money in the short term. However if it ends up failing and the players on it quit (a proportion of which may have come around to eoc given time) then they'll end up losing out.
  17. I actually like the idea of these being tradeable. You buy 2k of them to trade away to that special someone.. ..and they proceed to buy the hate emote and rip up your heart right infront of you. You can't put a price on that
  18. Drops on ground always look better :P
  19. http://runescape.wik...t_release_dates So the last few quests released before the cutoff were: Kings Ransom Grim Tales Dream Mentor Another slice of HAM Olafs Quest What Lies Below See the link for more. To be honest looking at the quests 07 scape had, I'm not really excited about questing in it.
  20. And you're using only a few datapoints to show that 2008 was the reason they fell. With only two datapoints there, what's to say it didn't continue to climb and fall at some other point over the period?
  21. The removal of free trade drove off a lot of bots, and measures since haven't helped them. also I wouldn't have much confidence in data with just 2 data points spanning a whole 4 years. Edit: It's pretty plain to see the other mmos suffer a similar downwards trend too though. Though I don't want this to descend into stats-rage..
  22. I'm glad the vote requires login, I'm still a little annoyed the only vote you can cast is yes. Unless it's very clearly marked that that is the case, unlike last time. Regardless I wouldn't play it, don't want it and it isn't healthy for the game to split the community.
  23. somad :P cheating on me with gwyn for epic profits D:
