Rocco, I'm trying to start an early military and I have plenty of wardogs. Once I get everything I need, I'll carve out a new, more symmetrical and practical fort closer to the volcano.

Ok, I might need some help. So far my fortress has 3 levels. 1st level: Wood Stockpile lXXXXXXlCrpntr---- lXXXXXXlW.S.-Stairs lXXXXXXl_____--- ____________Trd ____________Dp ____________--- ____________--- ____________--- _________Entrance ______Refuse Stockpile _________Outside 2nd level: Ok, too complicated. Hall going down to 19 5x5 farm plots connected to a regularly refilling series of ponds. 4 stills on one side of the main hallway, large food stockpile on the other side. 3rd level: Mason's workshop and stone stockpile on the west side of the stairs, furniture stockpile south of the stairs, and bare-bones dormitory to the east. That's it so far. No majour problems as of yet. But I want to know, what should I do next?

Wow, I guess my dwarf might be the only semi-accurate representation. I can see Iey killing the others for one reason or another, but not from simple annoyance, and I would think Doom would be the one sitting and reading a book while the rest of the Taverners go insane.

Sorry Rocco, they already did a DF zombie survival mod. :rolleyes: I'd honestly prefer to play this, though, apparently that mod wasn't very good.

Appropriate. Anywho, I'm on a quest to find the perfect embark! My current one contains a layer of soil, trees, a valley with a mountain on one side, an ample water supply, serene surroundings, flux stone, and a volcano. However, I have theorized that items available to you in the beginning are only those which a fortress unable to trade would produce, given time and the right resources. This is not a comforting thought, as there seemed to be an abundance of Giant Cave Spider silk goods.

Erm, can you farm on black sand? Also, how do you disable hauling with Dwarf Therapist?
