I disappear for a year or two every now and again, mainly due to nostalgia over the fall of the bards. It can get boring if you don't play it right, and I think I've finally figured it out.

The music in Mabinogi is fricking awesome... I LOVE this game.

You say fortress when I say dwarf! Dwarf! Fortress! Go E! (Hehehe, get that joke Ross?)

I cover the retreat, clanging the tip of my sword against the base of my staff (which has metal banding/caps, incase you forgot) and amplifying it just below the surface of the water to produce another soundwave. Then I begin slashing like a maniac.

I do the same as before, this time slamming the staff into the wall.

I once again strike my staff against the ground as hard as I can, using sound magic to amplify the noise, trying to create an underwater sound/shock wave to kill/injure/agitate whatever is in the water (like that "fish in a barrel" thing on Mythbusters where a bullet shockwave will kill fish from a ways away).

I go through the crack, following the others.

THOOOOOOLTIIIIIG!

I stand back-to-back with Rocco and slam the end of my quarterstaff on the ground with my left hand, attempting to create a sonic wave at ground level to disrupt the monster.

I plug my ears with bits of cloth, then attempt to make my sword vibrate slightly with Sound magic before charging and slashing at the creature.

Alucard =/= leaping out at you = good. Ross, what does Rocco's avatar remind you of? Hidden Fun Stuff, or a Thermonuclear Catsplosion? _________ Earthsage, I need you to contact an old friend of mine. I'll make a message later for you to copy and paste, so as to avoid spelling issues.

Damnit, since the fall of the bards there's no longer any music in Mabinogi. What a shame...

Doesn't matter, if you have a Gaia account, YOU MUST USE IT! I have an old friend and the only possible means of contacting them is through that stupid game...

I'm getting so nostalgic, watching videos of Mabinogi on youtube... It feels special, being an unknown part of a game's community history and legends... I don't know why I keep leaving that game, I have so many friends... Probably because there are a few who I'll likely never see again... Oh, wait, crap. Does anyone have a Gaia account? I need to ask a favour.

Doesn't matter guys, we've all done that, the mod will judge the appropriate amount he's capable of. The only "system" is a human, making it a bit hard to abuse in the sense you mean. Everyone in the pit should probably plug their ears. I make sure to carefully pull Ares back a bit from the edge, write on a paper and hand it to the guard, asking for his sword, then leave my lute with him and attempt to jump down on the swamp monster's head, holding the sword straight down with the flat towards me to stab the monster while hopefully minimizing injury. Of course, if I don't get the sword, I sit down a few yards from the edge and start playing stereotypical and inspiring bossfight music on my lute.

I push through to the gaping pit, striding meaningfully holding my quarterstaff and producing a ring in the ears of those near me so as to seem like a wizard and make the crowd part.

To the peasants quarter, asking (writing) around for a music teacher!

I write: What about Earth and Metal magics? I have had some... unfortunate run-ins with Allomancers in the past. The memories are a bit cloudy, though. Are there any musicians here who could gauge and help me improve my talents.

I write: What are the wizards here teaching? And would I be able to learn enchanting or magical construction, such as that of golems, here or in Brinefir? Are there any musical tutours?
