  1. In free to play, everyone has an amazing weapon. Also, higher levels are not obligated to win. They should have to work like everyone else to gain tokens. Level is arbitrary, to an extent, in minigames. It should always come down to skill. How much is too much lower? I'm level 65 combat and have beaten plenty of 100+ that get easily annoyed. I'll admit, if they are higher than 120+, I usually don't bother. But if all the person being hunted is going to do is go to the center and pray, I definitely have a good chance of winning. Running and hugging are very good strategies that can equalize FoG considering high levels already have a tremendous advantage. I'm talking less than lv50, I'm around cb lv 118 on f2p. Anyway, it's pretty easy to catch a runner if you've got a bow+addy arrows with you. If they start using the portals, they're killing themselves faster. Then I agree with you. If the battle is clearly not winnable, then yes, running can become annoying. But if the match up is 60-40 not in your favor, a little skill can even things out.

  3. Before I made a Runescape account, I played video games competitively. Yes, I was living my childhood dream of making money doing what I loved in my spare time. While I didn't have a deal or contract, I was managing to pull in anywhere from $10 to as much as $60 a time. Not bad, especially for a teenager. Anyways, during my career, I noticed that competitive gaming can truly bring out a person's worse aspects personality wise. Whenever occurring a loss, people would pout, act rude, and turn into an all around jackass. While I had a temper myself, never did I take it out on another. One of the primary reasons I retired was the community. I simply hated how cruel the people could and would get. In order to escape it, I took up this MMO and laid down my controller for a more casual game. Needless to say, I simply could not escape the anger. Take for example today. While playing Fist of Guthix, I was constantly called a "nerd", "loser", and even some obscenities - all for merely running away. I don't understand why people can get so mad for me playing my role, the hunted. After all, I'd chase after my prey if I was a hunter. But I digress. Why is it that games seem to bring out the worst in people? Shrug it off and play harder next time is what I say.
  4. Killing and raping is only immoral because society deems it as so. I'm not saying I endorse either of the aforementioned, but society constructs its own definition of civility wherein if others do not follow, they are shunned. While this seems harmless and constructive, there is no threshold on a definition. What is rape and murder now could be anything later, ranging from blatant dis-functionality, to obscure idiosyncrasies.
  5. I don't have it in me to bot. What other people do with their accounts is on them, but a violation of a contract nonetheless. Personally, botting takes away from the fun of Runescape. Grinding does get boring, but achieving a goal after putting in time and effort is rewarding in its self.

    Favoritism?

I love Dungeoneering. It's one of my favorite skills, and I never have not enjoyed raiding a floor. Seeing as I'm probably not the only one with such a passion, I decided to search for a high level Dungoneering clan chat and joined it in order to form parties faster. Big mistake. The people I played with were angry, hypercritical, and overall just rude. To me, that is. Now, I know it's not uncommon for people to prefer some users over other. That's simply an inevitability in every social construct, be it virtual or not. But what I do have a problem with is being ganged up upon for making a harmless mistake. See, we were all doing the mimic puzzle where players have to correctly mirror what the statues do. Prior to my mistake, two other of the clan regulars messed up twice each, causing the statues to do about 200 damage total to us. They casually laugh it off, and even though I wasted some food, also decide to brush it off. At this point, I suffer a bit of lag, and don't respond to my mimic statue, causing everyone in the party to suffer 10-15 damage each. What happened afterward surprised me. Immediately, I was ganged up upon and called a noob and threatened with a kick if I messed up again. I tried explaining what happened, but to no avail. To make things worse, the players started power looting, making food hard to combine, causing one of my deaths in the long run. If that wasn't bad enough, on another sliding statue puzzle, I moved the statue up instead of right, causing 10 seconds to be added to our floor raid time. Needless to say, I got borderline verbally harassed. The ignore list is starting to become a great friend.
  7. Yesterday, while raiding floor 30 with a team of four players, the group leader, who will remain unnamed, repeatedly called me a "leech". Turns out that I had teamed with her yesterday, and she didn't like how I was picking up the remains after clearing a room and not avidly helping. Now, before I elaborate, it is worth noting that I am neither a pure, nor high level user. My highest stats are in the non-combat field, but most of them are above 50. That said, the only damage I can really dish out is with range, and that skill is only about 48. Anyways, while picking up arrows and food that no one else seemed to care for, the leader started borderline harassing me, continuously calling me a "leecher", "useless", and other derogatory terms. Normally, this kind of talk wouldn't bug me, but when she doesn't stop, I did get a little irritated. I didn't ignore her while in the dungeon, but she did make the list later. But I digress. Since I'm quite aware of how little damage I can do against monsters that appear red to me, I decide to go get the group some Giant Flatfish and Short Finned Eels, some of the best food in f2p. Turns out, this only proves her point. "Who fishes in a DUNGEON?" While no one did ask for food, I felt that they might need it for the boss, and since fishing is one of my better skills, I thought I was helping out. After all, a good party needs fighters and resourcers, right? It's really frustrating when you try to genuinely help someone out, but get yelled at.
  8. Lately, I've been hearing more and more users swear that killing "dinos" hurts overall experience at the end of a dungeoneering floor. I think this is ridiculous, and quite the opposite, seeing as the multiplier is dependent on how many monsters a player leaves. Is there any official word on this?
  9. This is not true at all, especially within Daemonheim. Not only do higher tier logs burn longer, they also drastically reduce the amount of burnt fish one cooks. Comparing Tangle Gum to Spinebeam shows a drastic difference in successfully cooked fish.
  10. bilrach isnt a demon, first of all there are 5 generals, and i am under the impression that kalgerion is the leader of them all maybe i misinterpreted, but yeah bilrach isnt a demon No way is Bilrach still a human. Check out the dates, this guy is more than a hundred years old and still going strong.
  11. For those who haven't been keeping up with their journals, I strongly recommend reading over the Kalgerion notes, specifically part two. If I'm interpreting this correctly, To'kash is the lowest ranking general, followed by Har'lakk, then Bal'lak, then an unamed demon, and finally, Bilrach. Thoughts?
  12. Har'Lakk the Riftsplitter was an extremely hard boss for me to deal with my first time meeting him and doing so solo. I'm not that high of a combat (less than 40), and needless to say, he tore me up every time I entered his room. While I've never fought Corporal, Har'Lakk is definitely not a monster to casually brush off as easy, especially without protection prayers. :ohnoes:
  13. While on my way to achieving sixty mining, I've been spending a lot of time traveling to Edgeville from Barbarian Village. In between coal loads, I'll occasionally find a pile of arrows lying around, ranging from bronze to steel, and go out of my way to pick them up. (Since I'll eventually be training Ranging later). Needless to say, I've built up quite a stock, but today, a user made an interesting comment directed toward me. After going out of my way to pick some arrows up, he called me a "scavenger". Now, this didn't offend me, yet did make me think. Am I frugal person? Have others been in my situation before? How "cheap" can other users be? Discuss.

    Today...

Today, I became debate city champion for the third year in a row with my partner. I'm officially done with high school debating now and can retire happily. :^_^:

    Today...

Today I went on a field trip for the first time in about four or five years. It was nice taking a break from book work and actually being able to do some hands on learning, even if museums have a no touching policy.
  16. Basketball shorts and a loose fitting tee shirt is my favorite attire. I like to dress as comfortably as possible at all times. :^_^:

    Silly fears

I am absolutely terrified of abrupt breaking while riding in a moving vehicle. I was lucky enough to be in two fender benders in one day, and ever since this, get a jolt of unpleasant adrenaline whenever the car I'm in brakes without warning. It really scares me.
  18. To begin, I'm surprised to see how well this topic is doing. Lots of different points of view regarding Runescape music make this an interesting read, and both sides have valid points. But one argument that is being used frequently is audio comparison between games that unload music files in completely different ways. Based on the file constraints, I'd say Runescape does a fine job trying to provide "oomph" to our ears. Temple Desecrated builds a sense of urgency with a conch like sound in conjunction with a fast paced beat, while Catacombs and Tombs switches between hard hitting steel drums and various other instruments.
  19. Today, while mining in the pit south of Varrock, I had my first encounter with a somewhat hostile player. We were both mining Iron ore, however, he was becoming upset that I was retrieving it faster. He asked if we could share, and while normally I would have no problem doing so, I was very close to being able to use a Rune pickaxe so I declined politely. Needless to say, this anonymous player didn't take to well to my decision. He began threatening me with a ban from his player moderator friend. Having read over the rules, they can only issue mutes, but potentially losing my account still has me a little worried considering I've spent some time working on him. Should I be worried at all? I don't think I broke any rules. :-(
  20. To chime in on confidence and dancing, why not try using bad moves to your advantage? Even if you're not the best dancer alive, if simply having fun wont get you through the night, then turn a bad situation into a good one. If you're date can also tell you're a bad dancer, use this as an opportunity to be clever, funny, and witty. Humor makes a more lasting impression then a few hours on the dance floor in my opinion.
  21. My ears do not know how to discriminate. Sure, they can identify good music from bad, but I believe that every musical piece deserves a listen, whether it be a full track or just a sound effect. :)
  22. That's quite an impressive list you have there. I've looked up and listened to the ones I could, and I have to say, you have great taste. Yes, the music does get a tad repetitive, but I find it's more bearable when not looped and only activated naturally. Listening to the sound effects in the mean time is perfectly fine with me since it's not absolute silence. I haven't been able to find this soundtrack, but I look forward to someday finishing the quest just to listen to the music. Just finished looking it up and listening to it, and I have to say, it's probable one of my favorite tracks now. Stillwater is relaxing and fits the activity of Fishing perfectly.
  23. I do from time to time. Not always, but when regular music gets tiresome, it's always nice to take a break and listen to what's actually going on within the game. It's definitely not the best, but some tracks are pretty catchy in my opinion. (Zamorak Zoo)
  24. My favorite sense is sound. Always has been, probably always will be. Maybe it's just me, but music can really set the mood - whether it be frightening, exciting, or even sensual. (I'm looking at you, Barry White). That said, Runescape has tons of musical scores and sound effects. One can hear the wind blowing, the water splashing, or the drums banging on a track to really give the player a feel for what is occurring. So, what is your favorite track? Your favorite sounds? Do you even like listening to the music on Runescape? Why? Personally, I love leveling up Mining. The sounds that come with an increase in level sound so cool and mysterious. :^_^:
  25. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is basic human nature to desire companionship. While I do not condone walking up and asking a complete stranger to be my boyfriend or girlfriend, I can somewhat "sympathize" with the people who do. For the most part, the people who do so are lacking that genuine emotional connection in real life and seek to fulfill it in a fantasy world. It's rather sad, really.
