The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Steel dragons give about 1k slayer xp/kill o_O Took me about 25 seconds to kill one with chaotic staff, divine storm, steel titan, ovls, and torment. Asphyxiate was basically an insta-kill whenever I chose to use it. I was in Kuradal's dungeon btw... -Does anybody know if the ferocious ring's damage boost works in beta? -Is there any way to get cannonballs in beta besides making them yourself?

Nothing too "impressive" right now. Just two pics and a few smartass responses to the sample profile questions. Better than most of the other guys' boring, needy profiles though. I'll tweak it depending on how many responses I get to the messages I send out tomorrow afternoon. If nobody replies, then that tells me something's wrong with my profile or the text in my messages.

What did you do today?
I've always hated back/bicep day because I thought it was boring. I hate doing bicep curls (I think they're pointless), and I'm afraid I'm going to severely injure myself if I try and increase my deadlift strength. Though I recently set a new goal of doing a one-armed pull-up... so now back/bicep day is my favorite :D Anyways... I was warming up at the gym this morning by doing one-armed pull-ups on the machine with a pulley-assistance seat set at 100 lbs... meaning I was doing pull-ups while weighing 100 lbs less than normal. A girl across the room kept staring at me while I was warming up. Eventually she grabbed her boyfriend and they both started staring at me while his jaw dropped open. ...then I realized they couldn't tell that I was using the assistance seat

Problem is, you really have to put in a ton of numbers for "day game." And you have to put those numbers in one at a time.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Well I think the worst case scenario in any sort of relationship is that it comes to an end (permanently). But going back to one of the key points I try to mercilessly hammer through everybody's skulls around here-- the happier you are while you're single, the less devastated you'll be if/when that actually happens to your relationship. I posted back in October about how I had a fallout situation with a girl I'd known for about 2 years. It can be very hard losing a close friend like that, but it's amazing how quickly you can adapt if you really commit to the process of letting go... and how confident that'll make you regarding future relationships, knowing that you've been through the worst and came out stronger.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
The reason why I consider online dating to be the "best" overall method in the long run is simply because in any other situation (at a bar, at a grocery store, within your social circle), you can only "approach" one girl at a time. With online game, you can approach dozens of girls simultaneously, then sit back and continue onwards with the "interested" ones. Much better than wasting your time talking to girls one at a time, who may or may not actually be interested in you. I can understand why you'd think that online game could be considered a "last resort" or "desperate" for many people. But for those of us who are neither desperate nor at their last resort, wouldn't you agree that it's the smartest method of fulfilling your relationship needs? Do you think I really care if the girls are desperate, as long as I think they're attractive? I can totally understand your beliefs, as I too held those same beliefs for quite some time. But if you really think about it, do you really think those beliefs are justified/legitimate/logical, considering my goals and attitudes/beliefs? If the girls are indeed "desperate and at their last resort," and actually turn out to be "bad" people, then they'll weed themselves out later automatically. If any red flags go off on a first date, I'll simply not continue with them. If they turn out to be drama-queens or law-breakers once I get to know them on an intimate level, once again I'll simply choose to quit seeing them. But I really think girls like that are a rare breed. Also-- what Tim said regarding pickiness is more or less accurate. It's basic psychology that on a dating site, you'll look through people's photos, see one photo you don't like, and instantly say "no thanks" to that person. People are looking for excuses not to be with the person they're examining because they're looking for their soul mate/"perfect" match... which is why I've tried to be as concise as possible on my own profile :P As a matter of fact, on OKCupid I had to answer a series of random questions so they could "match" me with other people (God help me). I had to skip the majority of the questions because they were just plain ridiculous/irrelevant. I swear the site owners are trying to [rooster]-block me :P Another "deal-breaker" for me when choosing online game was the issue of pregnancy/STDs (again, in the long run)... Ex: BarGamer goes to the bar on a weekly basis; has a one-night-stand every time. That's 50 different girls per year. OnlineGamer gets online and goes on dates until he has about 3-4 girls he likes to keep around. Assuming his relationship management skills are adequate, that's only about 3-4 new girls per year (or several months)-- a very significant decrease in the risk of STDs and such. (obviously not real statistics, but hopefully you get my point)

Made a profile on two online dating sites. Gonna send out ~50 messages on each site on Sunday afternoon. Online dating seems like the overall best "end-game" dating method, so I think it's a worthy endeavor to invest in and learn how to master. Reasoning: -New people signing up each week; basically an unlimited pool of potential meets; no need to worry about what happens if that "one girl" isn't interested -Very little competition, especially compared to the bars. Most of the guys on these sites are super-needy -Time-friendly: a) I can set up dates at the most convenient time for me b) I don't have to stay out late at bars or anything c) I can send out dozens of messages at once, as opposed to one at a time -No one-night-stands (contrary to what my posts may imply, I don't enjoy these) -No alcohol involved I'm not expecting much in return on my first "trial" but we'll see how it goes. I made a detailed spreadsheet to track my results and to determine which areas need the most improvement :geek:

How to fund 94-99 ranged? (pure)
1. Do one trip at frost dragons (or enough trips to gain 1 ranged level's worth of chins, depending on how much you can tolerate). 2. Spend all the profits on chins. 3. When you run out of chins, rinse and repeat. I did this for 70-99 ranged on aviansies back in like 2008. Ranged aviansies, sold addy bars to buy chins, then went back to aviansies when I was out of chins. My cashpile never exceeded 2M. Also, take it 1 level at a time. Don't try to get enough chins for 99 in one go or you'll get burned out.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Noxxx, next time you go out with your friends, just text her something like, "hey me and my friends are going out tonight. You're welcome to join us if you want" or "...text me later if ya wanna know what I'm up to!" Or, you can just abandon all contact and wait for her to text you, at which point you say something like, "so I suppose you'd like to get together again soon?" Either way it puts the ball in her court and basically implies, "Hi, I'm about to go continue having fun. That'd be awesome if you came along, but if you don't want to join me, that's cool too." It's a win-win... The goal is to make her say yes or no so you she doesn't waste your time in the "maybe" category. Of course, it's not very effective if you aren't actually having a good time w/o her :P

It's something that's so common these days (seems like the statistic is 1 in 3 girls?) that it shouldn't come as a surprise. You yourself admitted that you were being superficial about it too when you first found out. Good job on ending it, though.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I think we more or less agree, except when it comes to the feasibility of said-beliefs when applied to long-term monogamy. But we've already beaten that horse to death :P As far as emotional commitment goes in relationships, as I've said before there are different degrees of relationships As you go down the list, you lose freedom but gain emotional intimacy and drama: One night stands only FWBs only (you ONLY see these people for sex. You never hang out) Multiple girlfriends (this is where you start entering "love" territory) One main girlfriend with a few discrete FWBs/ONS on the side Exclusive girlfriend Marriage Depends on what you want. Obviously if you dont have your shit together your relationships will be doomed to begin with. But if you look at it, poly is ironically the more "moderate" and balanced option. I rely mostly on my friends and family for emotional support, when necessary. But is a very very very rare problem for me. That being said, I'm always there for my friends who make less-intelligent decisions and need a shoulder to cry on/reassurance/a swift kick in the ass :) And as far as loneliness goes, I think loneliness stems from feeling misunderstood and left out by others, as opposed to actually being alone/single. I can say anything to the people whom I love the most without fearing rejection or lack of understanding, and that's probably the main reason why I never get lonely, even though I usually prefer solitude.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Yes, if he ends it he doesn't need to explain himself and it's his fault that he feels this way. It's both of their fault that the relationship is being threatened (her for admitting that to a FWB; him for not having his shit together). I really don't see why the fact that she was raped is such a big deal to him. Yes, it's a horrible thing that happened, but if she's acting weird because of it, then he should reconsider continuing to be around her. That's not his problem, and he shouldn't be trying to fix her. Some people may call that being insensitive, I call it being smart. This really shouldn't be any of his business at all and of all the people in the world, I'm sure there are many, many people in her life who are more qualified to help her out than Low. But if I'm understanding this correctly, he's the one who's acting weird here, not her. Therefore, he's the one who needs more help than she does because he's being a big baby. Anyways I think I'm done with this discussion for now, as I'm sure regardless of what's said, Low's already dug his own grave. And as a friendly reminder, my thoughts would likely be very different if these two weren't in a FWB arrangement-- an arrangement which demands unattachment.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I'm glad you realize that her feelings aren't Low's responsibility. Only his own are. This problem is still Low's fault to begin with, though. I suspect that to begin with, we have a fundamental misunderstanding here as to the "rules" of a FWB relationship. In my eyes, a "healthy" FWB relationship is literally sex only. No dates, no spending the night, no extended cuddling, etc. Basically nothing that you would do with your girlfriend. You call her or she calls you, you two hook up, then part ways till your needs align again. No emotional commitment whatsoever. I'm going to go out on a limb here and suspect that Low's suffering from the Madonna-[bleep] Complex to a small degree... meaning, if he finds out a girl has been [bleep]ing other dudes, he gets turned off/jealous/needy. Obviously it's not exactly like that in this particular case, but his reaction's pretty much the same as your average jealous, needy dude. Regardless of whether or not that's the case, this is his problem. But I think we already knew that. As I've said in my previous replies, it all depends on what he wants right now. If he wants to keep her, or wishes he could keep her but his feelings aren't allowing it, then it's up to him to get his shit together and quit letting things like this bother him. If he ultimately chooses to end it for whatever reason, he shouldn't feel obligated to explain himself to her. Yes, this may sound "shallow" or "cowardly" to you, but those terms are irrelevant here. If this ends badly and blows up in his face, this is his fault for getting too close to her and acting like her boyfriend. In a FWB relationship, if you remain unattached then problems like these never happen and both parties can remain happy and sexually fulfilled. :wall: This belief right here is one reason why so many relationships fail. While it sounds good (and politically correct) on paper to start placing someone else's wellbeing above your own, and to sacrifice your individuality and replace it with an "us," this usually just leads to massive problems down the road. Why can't more people just enter relationships while maintaining their individuality and crossing paths with their partner(s) when their needs align? As opposed to forcing your partner(s) to do things with you when their needs aren't always the same as yours? When it comes to relationships, the self is always #1. And that doesn't mean that you have to treat your loved ones with any less compassion, love, and respect, either. It's easier to give to the people you care about when you've got your shit together than when you're worrying about other people's problems on top of your own as well. Also, more food for thought: the reason you treat everyone with love and respect, even if they're your own parents or kids, is because deep down you know that you will personally benefit from doing so in the long run in one way, shape, or form. Slayer Comparison Before And After The Combat Beta!
I just slaughtered around 200 of them w/ cannon, steel titan, and ice barrage... XP rates are still abysmal since I only got like 28 xp/kill :\ Steel dragons take a very long time to kill and only offer like 80xp each.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
You shouldn't feel too pressured to directly tell her that you no longer wish to keep seeing her. She's just a FWB. There should be no attachment on either side, and therefore no hard feelings. If you break her heart by telling her you no longer wish to see her, then you messed up somewhere along the line by acting too much like a boyfriend, as opposed to just a guy on the side. I'm also hoping that you never led her on in any way by implying that you'd make her your girlfriend eventually. It just seems kinda weird to me that you would make a big deal out not seeing her anymore when she's just a FWB. Those kinds of relationships usually end with radio silence from one side, anyway. Again, if it's a "healthy" FWB relationship, then there shouldn't be any feelings/commitment on either side.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
You've got a few options, depending on how you feel and what you want. I don't really know much about your relationship so this advice is gonna be somewhat broad. If you have feelings for her, and want to keep seeing her, then basically start treating her as more of a girlfriend but still withhold exclusivity. Or give serial monogamy a shot. If you don't have feelings for her, and want to keep seeing her, then keep doing what you've been doing. If you don't want to keep seeing her, regardless of how you feel, like you stated already this is due to your superficiality. Get over it-- you'd be surprised at how many people have had experiences like that. Hell, even one of my male friends had an experience like that when he was a kid  Point being, I don't see how this is a problem unless she's a total psycho because of it and it's affecting you too. But considering she's just a FWB and not your girlfriend it really shouldn't be affecting you at all... just see her less and see other girls more.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
What bugs me is how inconsistent it is tbh. Barrows degrades, bandos and such doesn't, yet in the new system Bandos and such is better? Then there's PVP gear which will degrade into dust but is worse then Nex armour? Also, I'm thinking a maul might be best choice for new combat system. As you said, only one item to recharge instead of 2, and you only pay 200k. Especially true with magic - dual casting apparently goes through runes really fast, staffs are 2h and slower but hit higher to compensate. I don't think it's bad if higher level armour degrades, but it needs to be consistent. I don't think consistency is important at all, as long as everything remains balanced.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Yeah you should definitely get the hell out of there ASAP. You'll have basically all the freedom in the world when you can live alone w/o a girlfriend and w/o kids. Though living w/ a friend isn't too bad-- you save a lot of money and it fulfills some of your basic social needs, but it still doesn't beat living on your own. I'm sure there's some things you can get to work on fixing right now, though. You don't have to live alone to start working on certain happiness-related goals.
