  1. Do you think that acting the way he did will make him a happier/better person in the long run?
  2. I liked the idea of a bind "bank" where you can collect several different binds, and then choose a limited amount of binds each floor, or each reset.
  3. Ah ok. I'll try to elaborate. Some of this you've probably already heard from me before. Anyways... In a nutshell, I believe that everything we do, can be traced to one of the following reasons: 1. We did it because we thought it'd make us happy 2. We did it because we thought it'd make us less unhappy [than alternative courses of action] I think our emotions and how we feel are basically the end-game of our living experience. However, if we want our happiness to be more "potent" and longer-lasting, we must use our rational minds to figure out how to accomplish that. The catch is, however, that we are emotional creatures, capable of logic (not the other way around). With that in mind, when our emotions reach a certain threshold, they can mute or cloud our rational judgment. In this guy's case, if he wanted to be happy in the long run, he would've done basically what Squab suggested. But, since he was being overwhelmed with emotions, he let his emotions make the decision for him, rather than waiting for his emotions to die down a bit and make a better, more rational decision. As a result, he'll likely regret it down the road, similar to what Randox stated. So, yes, like you said this'll make him feel good temporarily but it won't really make him a better person in the long run. Unfortunately, it might take a while for him to realize that, as long as there's people cheering him on and congratulating/rewarding him for being immature. There's nothing wrong with feeling "bad." Feelings are feelings, and it's your interpretation and reaction to those feelings that really matter.
  4. ^^ Not really sure what you're asking Omar :P
  5. Break the rules then, if you want. Just understand that you're at risk for being perm-banned for doing so, and that would be 100% your fault. And I strongly doubt Jagex is going to alter their stance on this one. Like I said, I understand where you're coming from. My original account was perm-banned for bug abuse, and I lost my first job because I was raising hell with upper management for doing a poor job :P
  6. If you're still enjoying the game, you're right, there's no problem. But I don't think the people criticizing in this thread are still enjoying the game.
  7. I don't give a shit what you choose to spend your money on, lol. You can bot all of your stats and it won't bother me. As far as Jagex is concerned, microtransactions are legal, and botting/RWT is illegal. End of story. Rules are rules (this applies to RL too, btw), and most of the time they're irrational and don't take people's emotions or common sense/logic into account. In this case, I can understand what you're saying regarding Jagex's hypocrisy, however that doesn't really change anything. At the end of the day, you have to realize that you can't change the rules. You just have to learn to deal with them, or get out if you can't do that.
  8. I think expecting your exclusive partner to stay exclusive is a realistic expectation. If she really needs to have sex with other people then she should talk about it to see if they can arrange something, otherwise they can either break up or deal with it. We'll have to agree to disagree on the expectations part, then. I've already argued my stance on that one a few months ago :P There's nothing wrong with feeling the way he felt. HOWEVER, there is something wrong when he chooses to act on the way he feels... which he did. There's also something wrong if he doesn't learn from this mistake and fails to make lifestyle changes such that he never gets into situations like that again.
  9. I didn't say anything about the people who still play. I'm talking about the people who still play AND complain about everything. That's what I'm talking about, too. Why does that mean they hate the game they're playing if they criticize new content that they don't like or find flawed? After all, even if you took a year's worth of content updates, that would still only be a fraction of the game's appeal and utility. That seems every bit as arrogant as those who expect the game to be tailor-made to their needs and play-style. It's really irritating. It's one thing to criticize an update. It's another to criticize every update, and still keep playing. It seems obvious that Jagex isn't going to change their stance on issues. This means that if you want to stay happy, you either learn to deal with the changes, or you quit playing. Most people refuse to make that choice. I thought I made it clear that I still play, just not very often. And most of my posts these days are in Off-Topic. But I don't really see what you're getting at, besides the obvious ad hominems. This is a straw man. That's fine. I never played it that way because I'm not very competitive. But if you realize that you're enjoying the game less than you used to, refer to my response to Kimberly above.
  10. I didn't say anything about the people who still play. I'm talking about the people who still play AND complain about everything.
  11. I could spend all day writing a piece called, "Why the Monetization of RuneScape is No Big Deal," but instead I'll try to be concise: The people who quit as a result of these updates were likely on the brink of quitting already, or just quit via a kneejerk reaction to the updates since many people these days (illogically) believe that trying to earn money is unethical. The people who stick around either are too addicted to quit regardless of the updates, or are too stubborn to quit and they're playing a game they no longer enjoy because they've missed the whole point of the game. Most people who are upset with the marketing updates are playing RS for the wrong reasons. Do you think it's mere coincidence that most of the people buying spins are either super-addicted to RS or play very rarely because of RL obligations? Regardless, the people you're ostracising are in a very small minority. Again, if this bothers you so much, why are you still here playing and complaining? Why not go do something that actually makes you happy?
  12. That's quite the slippery slope, pulli
  13. Wow. That guy takes neediness to a whole new level. Typical clueless guy that freaks out at women for behaving like women, and not living up to his unrealistic expectations.
  14. No my interest stayed strong even after my ban. My second account has far better stats than my banned account. I still play occasionally. I just don't consider RS important anymore because: -90% of my close RS friends quit long ago and I don't play frequently enough to form new friendships -I've got much better things to do with my free time now which contribute to my happiness much more than RS does (ex. going out with friends/girls, working on my business, going to the gym, etc.) Like I said, it's all relative. If I was still in high school living with my parents, I'd probably dedicate a lot more free time to RS since I wouldn't really have much access to the RL goals I have now, which are all more exciting and meaningful than RS is to me. All the recent marketing updates have no effect on my interest in RS, for better or worse. This is because I don't take RS seriously anymore and therefore any changes to RS make no difference to me. And finally, if I could do everything over regarding playing RS, I would. I had a ton of fun over the years and met a lot of kind and interesting people, many of whom I still keep in touch with via Facebook. My RS "glory days" are far behind me now, and I don't enjoy the game like I used to, but that doesn't mean I don't cherish the good times I had on here. RS is about enjoying the journey towards completing your goals, and the experiences you have along the way.
  15. It's a simple and mature method called "minding your own business." For the same reason you wouldn't walk up to someone on the street and start berating them for wearing shoes from a brand you don't like, you don't go up to someone in RuneScape and start harassing them for wearing cash shop clothing. It's more like going up to someone driving a hummer in 150 years when the ozone layer is almost gone and fossil fuels are almost nonexistent and berating them. In other words, berating someone who's contributing to the downfall of your livelihood. Except the ozone layer is actually important, while a videogame is much less important. (And no offense, but if you consider the downfall of RS the downfall of your livelihood, then you might want to find something else to do in life apart from RS.) I apologize for considering something I've put thousands of hours into important. As you get older, you'll consider it less and less important. It's all relative.
  16. Well as someone with a psychology degree, you're both (partially) wrong :P Negative reinforcement isn't the same thing as punishment. Negative reinforcement means taking away something bad to encourage good behavior. Punishment means taking away something good, or adding something bad, to encourage good behavior. But yes, reinforcement > punishment
  17. Why not just do dinner and/or a movie at your place instead? Anyways, I think I'm done giving my two cents you for now, Noxx :P Just keep in mind that if you keep acting/thinking like you are now, there's a good chance that she's eventually going to get bored of you. But the good news is that probably won't happen for another 2-3 years :D
  18. Just keep in mind that the more time you spend interacting with her, the sooner her attraction for you will wane (assuming she's attracted to you, and not just using you for attention). But either way it still takes a long time for that to happen.
  19. On a more serious note, you have nothing to feel guilty about unless you've been leading the other girl on, implying that you'll be her exclusive boyfriend.
  20. Moved to another city where all the gym membership prices are pretty outrageous (as opposed to the free membership at college). In the mean time, I bought a pull-up bar to practice my one-arm pull-ups and a 40lb weighted vest for pull-ups and push-ups till I find an affordable gym. The vest really takes a toll on your traps/neck/shoulders. Currently posting this from my phone while I poop with the vest on. THIS SHIT'S INTENSE!!! (pun intended)
  21. Not sure if anyone mentioned it earlier... another skilling feature made easy by the action bar is herb cleaning. Just set grimy herb to 1, hold down 1, and your inventory of herbs is cleaned in like 2 seconds
  22. I understand, I used to be like that too. Trust me, your relationships with everyone-- friends, family, lovers, etc. will all be enhanced when they like you for who you REALLY are, not who you think they want you to be. My friend's girlfriend told me the other night that I seem a lot more "confident" than I was when she first met me. She said that my attitude implies, "This is who I am, and I'm not sorry for it," and she said she wished more people (including herself) had that trait. You've gotta be willing to not be liked by everyone you meet if you wanna be like that, though. But considering you won't be liked by everyone regardless of which choice you make, the answer should be pretty obvious as to which would be logically better in the long run.
  23. My point is that you're suffering from some hardcore neediness right now, and as far as I know you're not even dating/sleeping together yet. While this may not be an issue right now, you're just setting yourself up for disaster down the road. Seeing other girls would help resolve the neediness, and likely introduce you to even "better" girls along the way. Again, you don't even have to be sleeping with other girls-- just hanging out with them at the very least. Simply having multiple options/"what ifs" should be enough to keep you from over-analyzing everything this one girl does. Just remember that there's a million other girls like her, and a million other girls that are better than her. And you'll never meet them if you refuse to broaden your horizons.
  24. My advice to keep seeing other women still stands, btw >_>
