  1. I meant make a thread in the rs3 forum but state that youre asking about 07
  2. Quoting you: "What I'd personally suggest is to teach young girls in sex ed that it's fine to say "yes" to someone you want to have sex with, and that sex is even something you can enjoy (shock!)"
  3. IDK but this post would probably get more attention and better feedback if you just posted it in the RS3 Help and Advice board

I agree that unlike road rage, your emotions are completely normal and justified here. With that said, however, your actions are completely out of line. Call the bouncer and have him kicked out/banned. Unless these guys are threatening lives, which they aren't, there's absolutely no reason to respond with the same level of violence that you've been reacting with. If the guy shows up somewhere else doing the same thing, why the [bleep] do you care? That's not your problem.
  5. That's too general and it's kind of stating the obvious, lol. I'm not really sure what you had in mind specifically when you wrote it. I've heard a lot of feminists claiming that the solution is to teach young men that "no means no" and similar things along those lines, without acknowledging women's role in this. In other words, the men are the ones expected to change while the women just sit there and blame men for the problem. I don't want to put words in obfuscator's mouth but I imagine he was suggesting that resolving an issue like this requires change, effort, and contributions from both genders; not just men. But like I said, I think a lot of people expect men to be the ones responsible for change. Which is kind of ironic since this specific issue in this context isn't really men's problem; it's women's.
  6. Unpaid Jagex interns are reading this thread and jotting down notes as quickly as they can. "This is GOLD!"
  7. That's too complicated. You should just get electrocuted to death instead.
  8. My point was that this issue isn't solely Jagex's responsibility; it's also up to the players to figure out how to allocate their time and attention in order to have as much fun as possible while playing. Because if you're not happy while you're "playing," then why are you even playing? :P Like Platinum said, though, I think psychologically players don't feel comfortable doing things in RS that don't utilize their efforts, or even worse, don't benefit them in the long-run in some way. If there was a CW-esque game without any requirements, people probably wouldn't play it these days unless it gave XP rewards or something. But that would be somewhat contradictory to the game's original purpose. What Jagex should do is force players to hook up electrodes to their heads and feed the data back to the client. The client can then monitor whether you're happy enough to be playing Runescape, and if you don't pass a minimum threshold, it throws you to the lobby. I would love that. Finally, people would no longer give me weird looks for playing video games with electrodes on my nipples head.
  9. If there was a CW-esque game without any requirements, people probably wouldn't play it these days unless it gave XP rewards or something. But that would be somewhat contradictory to the game's original purpose. So in other words it's a very complicated issue and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't become satisfactorily resolved for a very long time. The best that people can do in the mean time is change the way that they think about the game and how they play it, rather than expecting Jagex to make those changes for them.
  10. Or you can just make the training methods less monotonous and predictable without messing with XP rate balance. This would be easy to do via minigames. I'd argue that as long as people are more focused on the endpoint of their goal rather than the journey itself, it is going to feel like a grind to them regardless of how "fun," exciting, or varied the training is. To give a potentially incomparable example from a different game, if my goal in LoL was to become one of the top 200 players, I imagine I would get sick of the game sooner and I would play less attention to having fun in the games themselves. My brain would be trying to tell me, "You can't enjoy this game until you're in the top 200. Then you'll start having fun playing this game, but until then..."

You were so close to the coveted Penta Post.
  13. No worries, soon all of my posts will be available in audiobook format so you can listen to me while you study. You can choose to listen to narrations by Morgan Freeman or Gilbert Gottfried, depending on how full of shit you think I am :D
  14. Your suggestions sound fine on paper but I don't think they're very effective in reality. It's a very grey, complicated issue with many variables and no real solution. There's not much to be done about an issue like this until society learns to quit being so uptight and irrationally delusional about sex. But I don't see that happening any time soon. The taboo of sex combined with the unrealistic portrayals of dating/sex that people get from constantly watching things like porn and romantic comedies means that most people are going to lack the basic reasoning skills necessary to resolve an issue like this. I imagine legalizing prostitution would probably be the most practical and beneficial solution at the moment. Less sexually-frustrated men is always a good thing. But considering that rape stats are on the decline and are at record lows (1, 2, 3), I don't think this issue is quite as bad as everyone thinks it is.
  15. I don't think I've ever argued that marriage is an example of how poly relationships are frowned upon. I might've argued that poly relationships are looked down upon as a whole, but I don't recall using marriage as an example to support that. I don't think the two are directly related in that way. IDK about that. I think the average guy is so risk-averse that he would rather avoid women completely than risk coming off as creepy in an attempt to pick her up. Men fear being labeled as creepy as much as women fear being labeled as a slut. Both fears are irrational, but they exist on a very large scale nonetheless, and cause a lot of mutual unhappiness and frustration. I'm not really sure what your point is here. Are you trying to suggest that porn should be abolished or modified because a very small minority try to use porn as an excuse for sexual harassment? Obfuscator could probably do a better job arguing the "objectification of women" thing than I could but IDK where he is right now :P Like GWW says, if you're going to argue that porn "objectifies" people then I think you either don't understand how human sexuality works or you're refusing to accept how it works because it makes you uncomfortable. Men and women always have, and always will objectify the people they are attracted to. The urge to objectify is universal, regardless of gender and regardless of sexual orientation. And so long as it's fairly and respectfully indulged, it's not offensive, not a problem, and not news. And considering pornography involves two consenting adults, I don't think you have a very strong point here. If you're suggesting that porn can have negative effects on people (like the person with ED that you described) then I'd probably agree with you. However those are case study exceptions to the rule. Once again, I'm not exactly sure what your conclusions are here. Are you trying to suggest that porn should be banned or heavily modified as a result of some outliers being negatively influenced by it and using it as an excuse to misbehave? I more or less agree but I'm not really in the mood to nitpick :P
  16. I think you're overlooking how many girls find other girls attractive. It's not even a matter of bisexauality/bicuriousity, if polled the general human population (at least that which would be looking at porn) would overwhelmingly say that females are more attractive than males sexually. Having an attractive female in porn is just as much for the female viewers as it is the male viewers. That being said, I'm a fairly stright male and I recognize a good lookin' fella when I see one. I have all kinds of data on career length of porn stars somewhere on one of my old hard drives. IIRC female porn stars are generally 18-23 and make all of like 3 videos in their career on average. Male porn stars are closer to 30, and have several dozen of videos in their career. So if you want to argue sexism in the porn industry, its lying somewhere in these data points, not the attractiveness of the actors/actresses Those stats are very interesting, as they seem to correlate with fertility and sexual attractiveness lol. Women are in their prime in their late teens/early twenties, whereas men are in their prime in their 30s. From an evolutionary standpoint, women mothered less children and men fathered more children.

so I just got back from the music store with my cheap little keyboard :D a part that's kind of stumping me right now are the arpeggios halfway through measure #17 (referring to my pic above). mostly because regardless of which fingers I use, I still have to slide my hand across the keyboard while still hitting the notes accurately lol To those of you guys who have experience w/ the keyboard/piano, 1. How would you recommend playing those arpeggios? More specifically, which fingers do you use? 2. How do you determine which fingers to use for which notes when you play? 3. Any advice on hitting those arpeggios? I'm guessing it's just practice, practice, practice until I've got the muscle memory down for that. Right now I'm just taking the song one set of notes at a time basically, and then trying to figure out where my fingers need to be in preparation for the next set of notes. And yeah RPG, that's definitely the hardest part for me right now lol. I never had to adjust my hands/wrist for playing clarinet because it was basically like playing a piano with only 13 keys and I could use both hands lol. and of course guitar hero was like playing a keyboard with only 5 keys :P I guess a more generalized question would be, if you were to play every white note on the keyboard, from the leftmost key to the rightmost key (I think that's a C major scale-- I don't remember as much music stuff as I used to lol), how do you finger it? Do you play C with your index finger, D with your middle finger, E with your ring finger, and then F with your pinky? And then do you just slide your hand and play G with your index finger, A with your middle finger, etc?

I set a new fun goal for myself today. I want to be able to play my favorite Dream Theater piece on the keyboard, since I think I can actually learn it on a keyboard rather than on the guitar. This is what I'm shooting for (skip to 0:59 for the challenging part): I played clarinet for 7 years but that piece has too much range for the clarinet so that's not an option. I used to be really good at Guitar Hero when it was popular. In college when Guitar Hero 4 came out, you could write your own songs and then play them. So I composed that Dream Theater song and played it on Guitar Hero, which suggests that my fingers are dexterous enough to play it. I just want to be able to play it on a real instrument, and the keyboard doesn't require as much precise technique/skill as the guitar would. Now the catch is, I've never played the keyboard before. :D I'm basically just hoping that my background in music combined with my Guitar Hero skills will be able to carry me hahaha. Wish me luck! :P Edit: Here's what some of the sheet music for it looks like. There's not very many accidentals (black keys) in it so that should make things easier. If any of you guys are experienced with the piano/keyboard and can give me an idea of how difficult it is, that'd be appreciated :P
  19. I don't think anybody read 50 Shades on the basis of it being a literary masterpiece :P They read it because it was something that made them horny... because women, like men, crave sex. More specifically, women right now seem to crave [dominant] sex that most men are either incapable of or unwilling to provide. If most women enjoy a certain kind of sex, and James Deen is the only modern male porn star to portray that kind of sex, then it follows that if a woman is going to watch porn, she'll appreciate James Deen's "work." I'm just using James Deen and 50 Shades as evidence for my argument that women crave dominant sex. Do you disagree women tend to prefer dominant sex? If so, what evidence do you have to the contrary? Female porn stars outnumber male porn stars for the same reason that AFAIK there aren't really any erotic novels that cater to men. It's simply a matter of biology and how each gender is sexually aroused. I think you have things backwards though. Society (the media, the porn industry, etc.) didn't just decide one day, "Hey let's brainwash everyone into believing that THIS is the ideal mate. Who cares if it's completely unrealistic and unattainable, we're evil and we'll make money if we try to program everyone into thinking this is attractive!" No, people discovered what human beings are naturally biologically attracted to, and then they capitalized on it. Female porn stars with perfect bodies are so popular and common because men find it attractive. Porn stars like James Deen will be on the rise because women find men like him attractive. If you're going to try and deny that women prefer dominant sex or that women prefer to [bleep] a man like James Deen, then you're also going to have to convince me that men don't prefer women with better hip:waist ratios, etc. False: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jenn-tisdale/my-amateur-porn-date-james-deen_b_4215113.html Relatively sure he's done things like that multiple times. I don't know why the girls that he's having sex with is relevant, though. Are you trying to suggest that people can't appreciate porn unless the sexy porn star is having sex with a "normal" [obese] person? This argument doesn't make any sense (see above). I don't think anybody's denying this. No doubt porn is marketed towards men because the male brain responds to porn differently than the female brain does. See above again. He does have sex with average-looking girls and it does sell. When's the last time you quit watching a porno because you couldn't imagine yourself having sex with a particular porn star? If that's ever happened, I'd argue that that's more of a personal self-esteem issue than anything else. Society is full of sexual IMAGERY, but in case you haven't noticed, despite all of the sexual imagery, the act of sex itself is still loaded with all kinds of taboo and irrational irrelevant associations in modern society. Sex is heavily marketed towards everyone, while at the same time, people are shamed for pursuing sex. THAT'S the problem. There's nothing wrong with two consenting adults having sex, and it's really not that big of a deal. But society (and you) seem to argue that sex is only acceptable within very limited, controlled conditions. When people finally start to realize that sex is: a) not a big deal b) natural c) healthy All of these crazy arguments about the implications of sex, porn, etc. will magically begin to disappear. But considering that many people don't know how to get laid, I imagine that these irrational stigmas are going to be perpetuated by sexually-frustrated/sexually-inexperienced people like that for a very long time... unless prostitution is legalized, but that's another topic. :P Lol there's no need to be offended. I myself didn't know about James Deen until recently. I figured that considering porn is something rarely discussed in public, you were in the same boat as me.
  20. You're not really going to get anything out of profile visits. I think I've only had one date with a girl who messaged me first. That's not to say that women won't be the first ones to message you often-- it's just that finding a woman who: a) messages you first b) is hot c) is actually interested in meeting up is pretty rare.
  21. I don't think you're understanding my argument. Continuing upon your argument, I could argue back that FHM and GQ are countered by Cosmopolitan and People magazine, but that would be silly. James Deen is the most popular porn star to women because he's something different and better than his contemporaries. James Deen basically introduced women to porn in the same way most men have already been introduced to it. Again, there's a reason why James Deen has an effect on women that no other male porn star has ever achieved (as far as I know). It's because he's a better representation of what women fantasize about than any other porn star. I predict in the future that there will be a lot more James Deen-type porn stars, and as a result, women will start to watch porn more. Men will probably always watch porn more though since they tend to be more visually-stimulated than women. Out of curiosity, did you know anything about James Deen prior to reading this thread today? >_>
  22. I don't know why you're refusing to believe these basic biological principles. There's a reason why a porn star like James Deen and books like 50 Shades of Grey are so extremely popular with women compared to their contemporaries...
  23. Obviously it can't cover ALL women. But it definitely covers MOST women.
  24. Funny story... I was talking to a friend this afternoon and somehow he brought up online dating. He talked about how he briefly tried it but had no success and gave up. I told him to give me his zip code. I made a duplicate profile at with his location and within 15 minutes I'd scheduled a date. The funny thing is, he was telling me how hot he finds latinas and the date I scheduled is with a hot latina girl  I gave him the password to the account I made so he could study it. ...so yeah. Feel free to use my profile description if you wanna go test the waters :P
  25. Almost all women want a very dominant, yet loving, partner in bed. That's why they love James Deen. Other male porn stars are usually just emotionless but dominant, or not even dominant at all.
