  1. This escalated quickly.
  2. I wouldn't recommend a void pure simply because it's a 10 hour time investment each time you lose your void. If your internet craps out or Jagex's servers crash, you're shit out of luck. Or if a scumbag PKer just decides to kill you and prevent you from recollecting your void if you die. But anyways, if you're shooting for void ranged, then getting 80+ att and 99 str would be insane because then you'd be melee-based. Meaning, you'd be at a severe disadvantage every time you choose to use range as your primary attack style. Keep your combat style ranged-based at all times. Overall though I wouldn't recommend PK'ing in void unless you're exclusively going to be dark bow spec'ing people when they're weak and then running away like a little [kitty]. :P

  4. Welcome to Runescape, the game has to progress, skills have to advance. Some people just can't learn a game has to change. & lol, qq. you call this 'progressing and 'advancing'?this is just throwing bonus xp and stuff randomly into the game for more $$$ at the cost of the game going downhill fast. Or at the cost of getting more players because no-one wants to play a game when it takes 440 hours for every skill just to get to the end game. Nobody wants to play an achievement-based game that lacks challenging achievements to do either. And what is this "end game" you speak of. RS has no endgame as it's the journey that matters. RS is not WoW. After you max you make even larger goals of 200m Xp in skills. Maxing in 07 is only around 3000 hours and gradually shrinking. That's nothing. RS is a game that's supposed to never end. If you make it too easy to get 200m in all skills, you'll have a lot of people quitting once they reach the max cap possible since there's nothing else for them to possibly do. I think your view on the game is in the extreme minority >_> You also contradicted yourself by calling RS an achievement-based game but then went on to say that it's the journey that matters.
  5. Please don't ever become an economist. You mean you'd prefer that he remains uneducated about economics? :P
  6. Certain builds counter other builds in 07
  7. I'm still waiting for them to consider boosting a bug and make it so once the booster leaves, the monsters are updated accordingly
  8. Right but they probably don't know how low the boost can be in order to still get people to buy. If they're smart, then they've been tracking these things since day 1. This would also suggest that future agility deals won't be as generous as this one is The day where it is no longer taboo to buy xp is the day that Jagex really starts raking in the cash though
  9. Jagex is pretty smart (and arguably sadistic) if you think about it though. All it takes is one Jmod to read this thread and be like, "Turns out agility xp is EXTREMELY valuable to these guys! Let's sell it via microtransactions and get rich! They'd be insane NOT to accept this offer!"
  10. You do realize that in a game like RS, these sorts of things-- the devaluation of previous achievements-- are completely inevitable, right?I think his main gripe is that it springs from a pay-to-win mechanic rather than an actual training content.Ah. Then this just leads to the debate that was going on a few days ago before Quy shut it down :P I suspect this wouldn't be such a big deal if microtransactions existed from the start though...
  11. I have a feeling that in RS3, there's going to be a carefully-calculated build for optimum fighting, and then everyone will simply reset and get that build since everyone's maxed, and then at that point getting the build will have been pointless since it's so common Why is monetization bad?

  13. Figure out how to play sports without using your knee, or get your knee fixed, or discover a new hobby
  14. Yeah I've never understood her appeal either. She's not feminine enough to interest me. Then again, we're beginning to see more and more masculine women and feminine men in pop culture. Sigh, no wonder everybody's so confused when it comes to sex/dating/relationships these days when people like that are our role models.
  15. Lol I actually read the post Tim quoted and thought, "I'm sure somebody else will offer advice so I don't have to..." :P I've had a lot of close friends become suicidal over the years. They are difficult to counsel because when you're that depressed, any actionable advice you offer is basically just going to bounce off them since they're so apathetic they're no longer willing to do anything to help themselves. It's hard enough getting a "normal" person to find a passion and reason to wake up in the morning, let alone a suicidal person. I think the core of the issue is mostly a feeling of unworthiness and lack of love. So the best I could do was constantly remind my friends how important they were to me and to make sure they felt loved until their self-esteem would start to pick up again. I did manage to talk one of my suicidal friends into taking his first cold shower once, though, and that was basically a temporary magic bullet. He was euphoric for the rest of the day and he started taking cold showers daily after that and said it helped a lot with his depression. In a nutshell, though, if I were suicidal/depressed right now, here's a list of random things that I should do immediately (emphasis on "should," since there's no guarantees I'd actually be capable of doing it in that kind of state). Some are easier than others and some probably yield better results than others. You can combine many of them too. Anyways, in no particular order: - spend at least 30 minutes in the sunshine - go for a 30 minute walk - sleep at least 8 hours/day at normal hours (the less light you perceive while you sleep, the better) - take cold showers instead of warm/hot ones - meditate for at least 20 minutes (just sit down, relax, and do my best not to think about anything) - lift very heavy weights - run till I feel like vomiting - watch as much comedy as I can so I can get myself to laugh (ideally comedy that isn't sad or angry... no Louis C.K., Bill Burr, George Carlin, etc.) - reread Maximum Achievement by Brian Tracy or at the very least, listen to the abridged audiobook version - watch as much Brent Smith as possible - repeatedly tell myself how much I like myself and how awesome I am, even if I didn't genuinely believe it - minimize time spent with people who have a negative effect on my happiness (this would include a girl whom I have strong feelings for if that's what was causing or contributing to my unhappiness) - spend more time with people whose presence makes me happy (this would not include a "special someone" unless I knew the feeling was mutual) That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Those are just things that I know make people feel better. Whether or not they'll actually have the willpower to do any of that depends on them. If you're smart, though, you'll consistently do these sorts of things even if you already feel fine/happy, so that way it's very unlikely you'll ever feel that unhappy in the first place.
  16. Demon is definitely better if you're Dharoking and/or have high attack since it has higher defense, but more HP and more points. I'm only 60 attack though so MTD is much better for me. BTW I get about 5% more xp/hr with DDS instead of Gmaul for power surge. For those of you using Dharoks, you might find this Reddit thread helpful. The only concern I see with using absorb pots instead of prayer pots is that you can't use strength prayers if you don't bring prayer potions. Unless the ancient mace + power surge is consistent enough to maintain the boosts.
  17. I was AFK'ing melee in NMZ yesterday when the servers DC'd. Got on today and noticed that I kept the overload boosts outside NMZ >_> Wish I noticed it sooner since I started at 94/78 magic lol.
  18. Visage rate seems much steeper since I can kill 1000s of metals without one but I can get b2b visages off of qbd Yeah but I was wondering if it was at a formula based rate akin to effigies. Just other variables perhaps besides combat? In OSRS visages are 1/10000 from all dragons, with the exception of 1/5000 from KBD. So it's not the same drop rate formula as effigies. When you kill a dragon, the game generates a number between 0-9999. If the visage number is picked, you get the visage. Here's the list of all monster drop rates confirmed by Jmods: [qfc]317-318-46-65317377[/qfc]
  19. Their marketing team is smarter than I thought, I'm impressed :D
  20. That's... brilliant marketing :D
  21. I hold someone who consistently spends dozens of hours per day on RS in the same regard as someone who consistently spends lots of money on RS. If the person spending RL money is being more efficient than the person "legitimately" training, then I'd consider the person spending RL money to be much more intelligent. Working hard is for people who don't know how to work smart (and no, those two traits are not mutually exclusive; they synergize quite well, actually). If they enjoy what they're doing-- whether it's buying XP or grinding it, that's awesome. If they don't enjoy what they're doing, they should probably take a break to reevaluate their priorities.
  22. I imagine you think just as lowly as all of the "legitimate" grinders in this thread then too? Surely they must value real life pretty low as well to stoop down to spending 10+ hours a day on a video game, right? You can far better improve your life by spending 10+ hours/day on RL goals instead of RS goals. So you're saying it's ok to spend your gp on anything because you worked hard for it... but it's not ok to spend your RL money on anything despite working hard for it?
  23. the real old school is deviousmud

  25. Some people are efficient because the process of being efficient is enjoyable. Some people are efficient because it's a means to minimize time/money spent doing things they don't enjoy. I do find the efficiency double standard here a bit concerning. Being efficient is praised here, but only within the confines of RS. If you're efficient both in RS and RL, you get bashed for it because it's taboo.
