  1. Are any of them at all relevant? Seems like abilities would outdo every old spec, not even considering many were purposefully made to take their place. The price spikes are pretty much all hype. The 'specials' are basically mediocre specials tailored specifically to the tier of the weapon. In pretty much all cases normal abilities equal or out do the special. And of course weapons of a higher tier exceed them in all ways. This is not a game were a dragon wep with a decent special can pwn everyone - it's t60 tat Nor is it a game where t70 and t75 with specials can outclass t80 and t90. They are a nice little perk to the weapons they are on, but nothing to write home about they all just offer an extra threshold vaguely useful til you upgrade to better gear.
  2. My count was simple: 5 plain 5 enchanted uncharged 5 enchanted and charged As they look different. In the figures for counting of fused helms I doubled this up 10 plain 10 enchanted 10 charged Hence 122 breaks down into 30 mighty 30 strong 30 re-inforced 30 full 2 slayer helm.
  3. Heck just letting us invent cannonballs of other metals for improved damage would be a start.
  4. 2 Slayer Helmets 15 Full Slayer Helmets 15 Re-inforced Slayer Helmets 15 Strong Slayer Helmets 15 Mighty Slayer Helmets And arguably you could take 1 off of each of the 15s as plain colour doesn't really change much from uncharged to charged (much like the non full) So we are talking 62 or 58 different helms (122 or 110 if you count the fused helms separately)
  5. I'm surprised by how many people are so excited at momentum plus when it's kinda useless compared to revolution. Autoattacks even boosted by momentum are less dps than abilites. Momentum is still auto attacks with random basics mixed in and the option to use ults and specials without killing it. (With ults being largely useless this is still rather meh) Revolution is all basics firing off with no autoattacks thus offering greater dps and lower ammo usage AND it lets you use thresholds, ults and specials. (With thresholds being awesome for damage this is winning) Heck even if you are like oh I don't know eoc I can't make a bar for rev it's kinda easy: 1) Help forums like here we could give you a good bar very easily then all you gotta do is build it. 2) Jagex made preset bars so now you don't even have to try making a bar if you don't want too.
  6. I like it all though I'm an entirely indifferent to specials. With the tiering it makes next to no difference that they are back and compared to abilities a lot of them aren't that good; just seems like jagex's easy way to make whiners who are obsessed with specials stfu without any real impact to the game.
  7. Because being high level in general =/= being a maxed player There's far more high levels in game than there are maxed players in the HLF. Not to mention they have said it'll be a mid-high level hub like a million times so they need to know what mid players want too and given their previous definitions of 'high level' and the existing lvl reqs we are talking 70s+ as the target market.
  8. ^ The only exception to that rule would be bolts/arrows as they get nerfed down to tier of the weapon so even if you can use ascension bolts for example but can't afford the bows they become equal to your royal bolts in t80 crossbows.
  9. You seem to be making much more of an issue out of my sentiment than intended. My sentiment is simply: HLF exclusive thread for garnering an idea of what people do daily in-game doesn't seem like the best placement of the thread as already maxed players are liable to have different desires than un-maxed which could bias the responses away from content that would make it a flourish high-level hub for all player types. I never said it was bad they are seeking input or that every last aspect of the city has to be equal for every last skill, heck I didn't even say anything about the city itself at all.. Simply that I feel the thread is misplaced and may result in a lack of input for things an un-maxed players would highly desire in a hub. You have a valid point, but alas it is entirely unrelated to what I was commenting on.
  10. My understanding was that it would be a high-level hub. With skills being so easy and fast to train, it seems silly for them to stick to their traditional definition of high-level (70+). If this is going to be a real high-level hub, HLF isn't exactly bad place to start. Given the quest reqs and the fact they keep saying mid-high level hub I'd solidly expect it to be 70+ design wise and even if they do put their definition of 'high-level' higher its still rather biased since what already maxed players want from a hub isn't necessarily going to coincide with what un-maxed players want from a hub.
  11. I like how they've made that thread in the HLF forum only because it's not like in this instance it is extremely biased to get only maxed players input on content that is supposed to be a mid-high level hub and will be reachable with like 2 or 3 lvl 70s and an odd sprinkling of other stats (unless gm quest serious ramps up reqs)
  12. Considering this was an FAQ specifically about rs 3 content and posted in the rs3 forums by a mod who works on the rs3 team and not the osrs team, and the senior narrative designer no less I highly doubt he was alluding to them being put in to a secondary project rather than the main game.
  13. No, but history has told us that Jagex likes to hide little red herrings whenever an NPC predicts something. Saradomin Vs Armadyl is going to be a very tough choice, however I feel the winds of popularity will go towards Saradomin purely on name recognition. The majority of players probably don't know jack about the sixth age alone, let alone a decent level of lore outside of "I killed this guy and he dropped loot." I don't think thats wholey true I think overall peoples choices in world events fall in to 3 categories: 1) The guys who care about the lore and pick accordingly - in terms of sara vs arma I feel arma would have the egde here since sara is basically a jerk. 2) The guys who go for the 'good' or 'evil' side - this could be hard to call but I feel even if they've only played low end content Sara comes off more 'evil' than arma, so I'd guess this one would tip in arma's favour too 3) The whoever is winning/losing guys - Kind impossible to call until such an event begins. Personally I think arma vs sara would be a much closer fight than the ones we've had so far but on the basis of the 'good' guy winning and people who know the lore I think armadyl would be the one with the best odds on winning.
  14. Yeah the port 2.0 release faq specifically said we would be seeing lizard men in-game later this year - so they are coming finally and too both games it would seem.
  15. I think top of my want to see world events would be making the desert series a 5th age flashback entirely with crondis and het parts culminating in Icthalrin vs Amascut world event. With the outcome being either het crondis scarabas and ampken are subjugated by Aamscut and she ascendeds beyond demi-god status OR icthalrin wins allowing the 4 facets to reform in to Tumeken who can then put amascut in her place.
  16. You know that .999999... recurring is equal to 1, right? In other words, how much is 6 * 4 / 3? It's 8, isn't it? Reefriders are a pretty big letdown, they should at least have given them something cool like +5% in all stats or something. The 0.99999 = 1 thing is a rule we use, but alas it is not one machines generally conform too (at least not without being specifically told to round it). We essentially auto-round it simply because our decimal maths for 3rds has a flaw in that the sum of the 3 isn't quite 1 and so we ignore it and round it without being asked too. But a machine doing a summ would happily output 0.999999... until told to round it and in the case of runescape ports it is told to always round down so it'd change that 0.9999.... to 0 just the same as it changes 0.6, 0.7 0.8 and 0.9 to 0 despite what our general rules of rounding are. Plus of course the factor that it won't genuinely be 0.3333 recurring to infinity, given that it has to be physically inputted somewhere it will have a finite number of decimal places so the rule wouldn't apply.
  17. You're asking why you have to spend so much time playing an mmo to get to the endgame. I said it's to retain the exclusivity of the endgame. Any way I put it, it will boil down to "that's just how mmos work, they take a lot of time", whether that time is required to make the endgame more appealing or to provide goals for midgame players. Not trying to be offensive, I just don't know how else to answer your question. The trouble is your stance is kinda from a dying breed of gamer in a game market not so fitting for it anymore. Runescape takes a heck of a lot of time to reach the endgame compared to the vast majority of mmos, even with all these things making it 'easier' and with the way they gaming market is playing with casual gamers more now and the way mmo success in general is moving it seems games were you reach the end-game and then have a bunch of stuff to do are more popular than those where you trudge through hours upon hours of the early and midgame just in the hopes of someday maybe reaching the end-game. That changing market climate does make it a very real issue of at what point does the idea of it being too easy and that just being how mmos just become an excuse to ignore the fact that runescape takes a heck of a lot of hours to get to the end game and in many ways that aspect of it is starting to place it outside of the market that is doing well due to sticking with an older model of gameplay for the sake of appeasing older players who dislike things changing ot be easier and brushing aside concerns with 'well thats an mmo for you' At what point do you face the issue that such a pre-game is potentially driving away lots of new players? At what point do you deal with the fact making the end-game so exclusive most average gamers simply can't ever hope to reach it also drives away players? Or do you just sit blindly in your castle and say well thats mmos right up until the point the entire game crumbles to dust around you due to such things making it lose its edge in the modern gaming market?
  18. I'd guess that the shield will be "endgame" like the pincers, thus no speciality crew. But we'll see, so far, 10 of the 12 supposed new crewmembers have been confirmed(counting 3 normal and one unlocked from shield). Well most regions had a merchant, jsut a couple randomly didn't (the skull and the pincers) So it could easily be 3 normal + 1 unlock + 1 merch per region Leaving 1 extra per region for those 'wildcard' types (eg solidarity or maybe a mix-crew) And would fit with the already seen loop crew Got a wildcard all typer, an unlock, 3 basic and a merchant. Though lol that apparently the reef rider all stats type has worse stats than oxhead and the same stats as judge of dice...because that is helpful.
  19. I'd guess the shield merchants will be 35% The recurring doesn't really make a difference either no? Each decimal place 3 would just add an equivalent decimal place 9 to the result, whilst each decimal place would bring it closer to 8 it'd never actually be 8 without rounding.
  20. Don't ports always round down? Meaning the 33.33% on 6 a would make 7.9 rounded down to 7.
  21. Thoughts on that ending: I suspect Bandos' mace might be elder artefact number 8 for a few reasons: 1) Armadyl doesn't seem a trophy taking type, yet he took the mace. 2) The mace glowed. 3) The divine blast seemingly disintegrated most of the tower and bandos body in to nothing, but the mace survived. Would certainly make sense for him to have had 1 and would make sense for Armadyl to take it away to strengthen himself and ensure no-one else got it. Side bar for those question 8 elder artefacts since it normally comes up:
  22. Event ends with game update on or after 20th. Eta of slayer update is 2pm Jagex time. So ~40mins.
  23. They have mentioned a falador rework with a steampunk influence due to the close dwarven links; but they also said at one point falador won't be damaged by the world event (not sure if thats still true though) Personally I think inflicting some damage would be an awesome catalyst for story, it could expose the Temple Knights a bit more and put them into emergancy state allowing us to be drawn further in. The exposure of such things could also act to offer inroads into the mystery of King Vallance. He and the Emir of Kharid were always the oddly absent rulers. Kharid was just pure he happened to not be around but he's since been added. But the faint hints of foul play by the White Knights in terms of King Vallance predate even the beginnings of the elf series and have only been re-enforced with the temple knights hints of not being as pure as they make out. To me it's one of the biggest yet to be told stories in Gielinor and it doesn't even have a single actual quest about it to date.
  24. You guys realise they already ditched all the lamps about a week ago in favour on bonus xp stars, which are currently on the star fall epically common promo to celebrate said change right?
  25. in some ways I feel being marginally behind on ports is a good thing - you get to see the crew and such before you get there and have greater time to formulate a good plan rather than floundering blindly with new crew and such.
