24 February 2014 - Revolution
I don't see why it got nerfed so bad. It was kinda useful, but it wasn't like it broke the game - it was hard to keep it running for long periods on anything but weak mobs and the cooldown was already quite high. Only bit that really makes sense is the PvP reduction.

[Ancient History] The disappearance of the dwarves (Elder Scrolls reference)
The thing I find interesting is these old structures that we 'don't know how they built them' people always seem to leap to amazing lost technologies and such. But they don't mean we don't how they built them in a literal sense of we couldn't do it, it's more to do with the sheer manpower involved to apply the required forces. The basic principles of leverage and such could easily be used to move the rocks etc. it just a staggering number of people would be required to produce the force...but then in a simpler time when people followed commands or were slaves was it so hard to get such great numbers working to one goal as it would be today? I mean I know the odd one or two dumbfound us a bit - eg how they got the crossbeams onto stonehenge, but the vast majority are simply 'we don't know how they did it' because of the sheer numbers required.

Pokemon Thread
There always seems to be a bit of a curve ball in the gyms in these games. Its like in XY with the final gym being ice type - 2 of his pokemon have a 2* weakness to fire, 1 of them has a 4* weakness to fire and considering you can use to lvl 90 pokemon and his are only like 50s you can pretty much 1 hit the entire gym battle with a well trained charizard, delphox, talonflame, pyroar, pansear/simisear etc. I mean most of the other gyms you can find a few pokemon that are strong to the typings in like the route or 2 before you arrive and with the early gyms especially your margin for being stronger than them in lvls is very narrow, but by the time you rock up to gym 8 you can be like 40 levels stronger and the best pokemon options are all found early on (fletching from route 2, pansear in santalune forest, litleo can be picked up on route 22 before you even head to lumiose, fennekin can be your first pokemon and charmander can be picked up before route 4 is even touched) In some ways I feel like they ran out of a steam a little on the gyms and route populations towards the end of XY - if you try to catch atleast 1 pokemon from every evo family along the way most locations have 2 or 3 to offer atleast. But fishing runs out of new pokemon like 1/2 way round the map leaving just poli's and basculins for the other half of the map (aside from dratini in route 21) and by the time you hit route 19 there is literally only 1 new pokemon to be found there. Pokemon Village suffers similarly - everything but Ditto (and mewtwo) is found on Route 20 on the way there anyway.

I think the need for xp after 99 is pretty clear L Please explain then, for all of us that aren't after experience for the sake of experience. If you need evidence, look at the hiscores. There are very few people with between 13m and 13.5m in most skills compared to 13.5m-200m. Just because you don't like skilling doesn't mean that no one does. That doesn't make it a 'need' People will do it because it is there, equally people will do it without even trying. I have several skills past 14m to varying degrees simply as a by product of lamps and questing and such not through any intent or purpose. Justifying something as a need because people do it is the shakiest argument possible. People smoke, people drink, people take drugs, people murder, people spend every minute of the day online via smart phones do we need to do any of these things simply because people do them? No we don't - people do it because the option exists not out of genuine need.

I think the need for xp after 99 is pretty clear L Not really. People train beyond 99 simply because the xp cap is higher than 99 so they can and feel like they are achieving despite the lack of levels - be it 'completion' or hiscore ranks. If the xp cap matched max level there would be nothing more to do and then highscores would simply rely on who got there first opposed to relying on xp then who got there first. In essence the 'need' is artificially created simply because the scope to get xp beyond 99 exists. If that xp did not exist there would be no 'need' for it.

I'm kinda curious where this big increase in the past few weeks was http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/GEMW/C#t=Jan_10_2014,Feb_20_2014#i=Frost_dragon_bones Certainly there was a spike around february 1st but by feb 4th it had dropped back down and again and continued to a price lower than before the spike in the 2 weeks running up to the weekend.

138 vs. 200: Vote on combat level formula! (not guaranteed content)
The thing is this poll is not bringing back the old formula or keeping the new one. Its a poll for a NEW combat formula, the choice is either: A formula that uses all/most of the combat stats - like 138 did. Or a formula that uses only your top combat stats - like 200 does.

99 would have worked equally well for dungeons. 60 floors, 99 lvls, that is an average of 1 floor per 1.65 level. Some lvls would unlock no floors, some lvls would unlock 2 floors. I don't see what the big deal is. I think the problem is that they made the xp/hr far too fast at 90+ dungeons.. Or they expected people to do floors a lot slower. That said, am I the only one who thinks that comp capes are unfair? I understand they wanted to make something BiC, but as a piece of armor used for combat, it is horribly unbalanced. And no, unless they are going to calculate TOTAL LEVEL into combat, it is unbalanced because it acts as EVERY best cape slot item in the game. Mage cape crit, ava's crit and pickup.. Plus people who already had comp just needed to get 4 scrolls to have the reefwalker cape. Unfair for everyone without a comp. If you ask me, you should be able to merge capes AND rings together, based off of total level. If you are lvl 90 all stats, let you put two or three of my capes or rings together. A BiC item should be earned by obtaining each piece of it, and putting it together. Not by doing a lot of irreverent work and "poof" getting something that does everything. And I'm putting on my flame shield right now. :-) I failed to see how it is unfair. In order to own and use a comp cape you need to have access to all the items it gives the stats of. Every last teleport, stat and other function the cape offers is something you already have access too at that point and when they do add new stats there are matching requirements in order to reobtain it. You have to of beaten the mage arena and thus have the god cape, you have to have done the quests and thus have ava's device and the lava cape and the bonesack teleports, you have to of done all the tasks thus having the ardougne teleports and you have to of obtained the scrolls and have the stats to make superior reefwalker cape this having the stats. Comp Cape is in all but action doing exactly what you suggest - it is combining all the best capes you have obtained along the road to meeting all the requirements for it.

I wouldn't mind seeing capes for '120' (or other landmark xp amounts) as long as the level cap did not rise and we were not obligated to get those capes for the comp cape since they are beyond complete opposed to part of it. Though maybe they could make like an 'ultra' comp cape add on for both cape variants for those with all the higher capes too.

^ As with all bonus xp events altar (and ectofunctus) as disabled leaving you with only burying xp being doubled. This is worse than the usual xp rates and is why you should never ever do prayer on a bonus xp event. Its also why bones tend to crash whilst every other supply imaginable rises prior to the event.

I'm think you'd be better off in the final region actually. Loop Trade good come 6 at a time with works out to 7 with the merchant. Assuming 100% success ratings that is on average 7 trade goods per voyage. With Shield being 8 basic it works out to 10 with merchant. Factor in 80% success rate you are talking an average of 8 trade goods per voyage. As long as you can get trade good voyage success ratings inexcess of 70% the average return is going to be greater (ranging from 7.1-10 trade goods vs a flat rate of 7 for loop) Of course it does depend on those ratings, but even if you only getting 71% for them in pure numerics you are still better off than 100%ing the previous tier.

Autumn Voyage 2
Considering both those channels claim to be remixes/reorchestrated I'm gonna go ahead and make the logical assumption: It's a remix by fans that has circulated amoung channels specifically dedicated to remixes of runescape music that people then took up and randomly assumed was some how 'leaked' or otherwise discovered from the actual game as an unreleased track simply because they can't pinpoint the original source.

Polls General Discussion
So the new ruby poll for Marimbo vs Brassica rewards results kinda bug me thus far. I can see why the VIP Slayer Tickets and Farming Accelerator would be good to use but consumable rewards means they only exist from the duration of the event and then they dwindle away into nothing. Atleast the other 3 options can exist forever more and give continual usage (though the degradableness of the vial may be questionable). I'm not really all that fussed with this one, slayer tickets will be the only one of use to me but at the same time I kinda dont want them as I'd rather have a life-time reward.

My main take away form that vid was the new menu is nice. It gives a nice explaination and visual que of what each mode is like so hopefully even the dumb as a plank of wood 'oh eoc is crap i hate mashing buttons theres no way to afk no i havent used momentum i dont use abilitys moron' types can pick up on the fact these two modes exist to precisely address the factor they dislike. Now can we just rename existing momentum legacy mode (with a bit more of a dps buff) and give a toggle to make the old interface come back and end this farcical idea that legacy mode is going to be some how different from what momentum was doing anyway?

Power and Tank classifications going away wouldn't be the worst change ever imo. EoC as a system wasn't built to have them and they only came about as a kneejerk responce to PvMers whining that Nex gears were crashing cause Ports armours offered a new best. Plus in many ways their existence kinda screws over the concept of shields making it harder to create a real use for them when you could just swap for tank armour and keep the DW up. Especially when you consider several power sets actually have their own shield which is really messed up (Eg why does T70 power sets all have a shield but t70 tank doesn't?)

Animate rock scroll made its initial appearance in One Small Favour. Storywise though it makes sense. In One Small Favour we used it to get the girl out of the rock face she was accidentally embedded in. In King's Ransom it was then used in a slightly more refined manner to free King Arthur from being in a statue which required both animating the rock AND unravelling Morgan's spell at the same time. So if we are going to free a dragonrider from stone that he has been magically sealed in it'd make sense for King's Ransom knowledge of using the spell in a more advanced way is required opposed to OSFs basic usage.

There are no multi stat captains. Anyway, one good thing about the shield is that there are no more annoying triple stat chime only missions. But yeah, the reqs are extremely high all the way round. I sent the exile unlock at 44%. Then what in your own pictures is Alexander Thorn the 27.5k charms captain with 550 stats across the board with 950 speed if not a multi-stat captain?

Any point being a tank build now?
The only flaw with this statement is legacy combat is merely a reskin of the existing system where auto-attack damage is scaled up to compare to using abilities. The same item stats and requirements will still exist as the eoc meaning there will be no magically resurgance of pures using gear in ways they could before the EoC. It won't be anything truely like pre-eoc pvp; it'll be something new and something different using the old auto-attack styles with the new stats and such.

It'll be interesting to see how the multi-stat captains figure in. I'm thinking it maybe worth it to have atleast one of them, maybe 2

I wouldn't say they delay consistently with quests. We've had 2 that I can think of that have actually been delayed from BTS release. All the rest have simply been estimates of when things might be ready, or 'we hope to statements' Has it been quiet on quests lately? Certainly. Have they actually delayed any that we had 100% solid release windows for? Other than this GM being delayed, no they haven't. The only ones 'missing' are ones they mentioned they hoped to have out or estimated might be ready. We all know 2013 had scheduling issues, the html 5 engine hit stumbling blocks and they pushed back the launch which in turn saw other projects pushed back and dev budgets quickly re-evaluated. I don't think its fair to judge them ongoing from that though really, it was a mess and they dealt with it as they could. Its infeasible for them to 'make up for it' in the sense of filling in the 'missing' updates as extra to the normal schedule - all they can do is try to not have the same sort of issues again. And frankly they are doing well with that so far, first delay issue of the year and not only have they given us forewarning and apology (opposed to ignoring it or releasing subpar) they have also found a means to fill in the week with something at least (the revolution etc update.) Would it be nice if they pulled through and made it up to us on the quest front? Absolutely, but lets not judge an egg as bad before its even been cracked. We haven't had any quests this year yet so we can't exactly judge them for not making it up at this point. Sure February's got nudged to March, but that now means March should have 2 and we have no reason to assume that won't happen at this point. And as for April onwards, well we simply don't know. Yes we know of a few that are in the works, but we have no idea when and where these will land or what their quality will be like. And no last moment issues do not equate to leaving things til the last minute in the slightest. The nature of game dev in an industry like mmorpgs is that turn over is tight - things are being bug tested right before they go live and that is perfectly normal. It is an ever present possibility an issue can come up at the last moments mere days or hours before launch even that can require a rethink of the release window; unless you want to rewrite the entire convention of operating a commercial mmorpg in a capitalist world and redefine the parameters of profitability to allow them to sit on updates for weeks on end just incase it needed extra bug fix time there is nothing that can be done about it. Dev schedules change, bugs crop up that is life. Unless its in black and white in the BTS saying it will come this month is a fools errand to consider it set in stone or judge for the dev timeframe altering.
