  1. The cutting is likely to keep up profits. Yeah last year was profitable. Because the Micropayments. That hype has died down alot since then with the introduction of eoc and drop of players. This will mean less money per player. So this year they are much worse off than they were last year in terms of profits. The more the playerbase goes down the more staff they cut. As soon as they cut staff to a point where it hits dirrectly into the development teams thats when it will have an effect on RuneScape. Causing delays. Less updates. Lack of major updates. Slowly but surely. Then ontop of that is the people that are not satified with the updates coming out. Meaning even more loss. It'll go in a cycle. Its the start. It doesn't mean runescapes dead. But it definitely means its a start of a slow death. Death of a game is not all about profits. The company will be fine and end with millions in their pockets. But players left will be lucky to even have servers up with no updates. Please dont act like this is all happening tomorrow. It'll stretch out over a few years. But eventually it will speed up. You all also need to remember. RuneScapes Jagex's main income. They cut things like transformers to avoid cutting RuneScapes developers. They are just beating around the bush.
  2. Its a start. They'll beat around the bush as much as they can untill it hits RuneScape directly. And that were only the 13 staff from Transformers. The rest is RuneScape based.
  3. That article says they are laying off customer support people because they are outsourcing. Also the outsourcing is the 3 youtubers that got J-mod status. They dont even get paid right? They also laid off Drebin, Sabre and Phoenix Point is, they are starting to lay off people. With simple excuses as outsourcing. Thats 23 employees that have been laid off. With the potential more to come.
  4. http://www.develop-online.net/news/45154/Jagex-set-for-new-round-of-layoffs Hot dayum. Told you they'll start laying off people.
  5. What I was saying was. It cannot be that out of the 120k online before eoc that 80k of them were bots. ALOT of people who are in denial or have no real explination use that excuse. its redicilous. Bottings a problem, naturaly.. But its way over hyped by the players.
  6. I think the playerbase is dropping at an average of 350-400 a day. I am not 100% on that though. Thats without updates that push people over the edge to quit. Bots is a lame excuse imo.
  7. Tiggle 10 recoveries... Does this mean we purposely have to loose hp ? sounds more like a pain to me.
  8. Its 1/3 of the playerbase. They would be stupid not to.
  9. Good ol Jamlex.
  10. Mine said he shouldnt go back because of his safety. And that he needs to go into hiding for sometime.
  11. [hide]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5C7oKQDReY[/hide] Everytime I see the "His pants were covered in his own feces" I just laugh my head off. That alone makes it sound fake.
  12. J-Mods need better communication between eachother. Something as big as a skill should be basic knowledge around the office.
  13. Papa Mambos had to much JuJu Juice.
  14. That has a lot more to do with Microsoft being money grubbing [wagon] than anything else E: and the technical limitations as Gingy rightly pointed out. They charge an exorbitant amount to update something. Sony does checks too but this would work more like netflix than say, the infamous Fez/Minecraft debacles we've all heard about. But with the new PS4 etc, it could be more possible. The elderscrolls online is coming out and diablo has support to. If they made deals where they could have an app with unlimited data and editing (on their half) available then its possible. Sony is being more open to developers these days. Microsoft is copying that route due to how popular it is. Wii U. Well I dont know much about nintendo.
  15. The problem with consoles is the update process. I think sony goes through checks before it can be updated. Think of how outdated Minecraft is to the PC version.
  16. Related =/= relevant. Saying that RS will end someday, and that that ending will involve less people playing the game, is like saying that eventually [car X] will go out of production. It doesn't really add any new information. Now, if you knew something about when this will happen, or under what conditions precisely, then it would be good to post that. Life has a 100% mortality rate etc.. So far we've concluded that the game won't die if/when it stays profitable, that the game still is profitable, that the development team has grown (costing more money) and that user online counts have been dropping. This suggests that a lot more money is being earned per player than previously. We know that the amount of money earned per player has to reach a ceiling somewhere, so this strategy of less people paying more money is not sustainable. However, it doesn't have to be - at this point, staying at this level is good enough. So the question is, are user numbers dropping to the point that they can't afford to support the game anymore? Not any time soon, I think. Thats where my post comes in by the way. I said they will eventually cut staff when players are cut to a certain extent. So that they can keep up their profit. From there on theres a long cycle that will go in repeat. Right now, the micro transaction money is just a boom. it'll last a few years maybe. But the player base is declining meaning that money will also go down. Oneday it'll reach a certain point that money per player would drop due to it not being worth spending money on a game that has very little compition and support as it used to. If anything you backed up my statement. You only stated that Micro payments slowed it down by a few years. For now jobs are higher. Thats only because they're at their peak of Micropayment cash. Its all down hill from here unless they turn the tide and admit their mistakes that drove alot of players away, whilst gaining a method for new players.
  17. I feel the same, But at the same time I feel the other side of the debate are in denial about alot of things. It always causes clashes.
  18. How runescape will likely start dying is linked to "Runescape dying?"
  19. Tehnoobshow shouldn't of quit making videos for all that time. Imagine how big he could be now.
  20. East is a continent. Theres alot more lore to come. We dont know a huge amount. I never assumed theres none.
  21. I would love Mod Moltare and Osborne to direct the eastern lands update in future. If they choose to do so. It'll be nice to see what Mod Osborne comes up with from scratch. And how it will tie into the west.
  22. Again people take it too serious. Im just saying thats how it'll likely happen. You all assumed I meant right this second. Throwing statements of "but they've employed more". I only said how RuneScape will die due to decline in players.
  23. My point was that it'll happen in future. Not right now. Lets say over a year the population dropped to 30k at peak times. with 300k members. (rough numbers, made up) I cant see them wanting to purposely loose million is staff costs due to the small people to cater for and the drop in revenue. It'll cut down bit by bit. But it will happens. The only reason they are investing more in people right now is because of the MicroPayment boost. But thats just a tempory slow down.
