  1. I am disappointed that Jagex feels F2P'ers should not be allowed to be recognised as veterans. It is like the skill capes all over again. When those were released it stated in the behind the scenes that "all players having reached level 99 in a skill ... " would be able to acquire these. Just like with skill capes, there was no indication that only all members would be recognised. From behind the scenes: "That winning veteran cape design will soon be available to ALL players who have had a RuneScape account for at least five years." Disappointing to say the least. Jagex is shunning F2P while bragging on the front page and every window title that they're the #1 FREE mmo. To be very honest, there are much better games out there that are F2P now and that free players really are getting a pretty terrible game. Is this a new corporate Jagex thing too? To shaft F2P at every turn...
  2. oi there's now 5 youtube embedds on this page that points to the SAME video >.> stop quoting/reposting it already
  3. This. I'm never gonna grind every single level to 99...esp. when so many ppl who actually do are bots. I have pretty much everything done on the completetionist cape - but no I am NOT grinding to all 99s for a stupid cape. And it appears that even though I made this account ~Jan 2002, I might actually have trouble getting a 5 or 10 year cape because I was not a member in 2002. Selective memory much Jagex?...
  4. Finally! It only took 10 years, 2 presidents, 300K soldiers, and billions of dollars to track this man down. This will have drastic effects - the leader/spiritual leader of the whole terrorist movement is now dead. Hurray! and.. Lots of brownie electoral points for Obama I guess.
  5. Okay so here would be my design for something like this the random asks: what is the 2nd letter of the word "money"? - display money in the some random crazy font if you wish you get 5 1-minute tries and on the sixth try/minute you get a flashing message telling you that you WILL BE BANNED if you do not type the answer. And for the 1 hour inside a random, I think that is PLENTY OF TIME - you really CAN'T get stuck in a random an hour by accident, say your client crashed, you would be auto-logged within 1-2 mins, 5 mins at the MOST. Before the instant ban occurs you also get a flashing timer counting down.
  6. lol very nice work - but you appear to NOT have 1k post count either lol......
  7. Jagex is moving away from getting legit players killed. call me naive but I think Jagex's tolerant attitude towards bots is the only thing keeping the major gold sellers from using stolen credit cards again. Well, I have to say that I have never died to an aggressive random EVER. You really have to try to die to one if you're at the computer. If people are gonan complain about that, how about this - fail at random too many times or stay in random for over an hour and you get instant banned - that really is the purpose of the random. The fact that I still find bots stuck in randoms for hours and not banned is really pretty incredible..
  8. lol bothunting skill... I wouldn't mind however for Jagex to give some real rewards to the people who volunteer their time to stop and report bots. Like if a person has submitted 10 reports that led to real bot bans, maybe this person should not have to wait the freaking 60 secs to report a bot. Or you know, have a bot hunting hiscores etc. Right now, Jagex is actively discouraging people from reporting bots by not taking action fast enough and the reporting limit to the point where reporint bots really do become pointless. And still, if players can use [cabbage] like scorpions to kill bots, certainly Jagex can do better- I really want the River Trolls etc back...
  9. It's good that they're finally doing in-game bans. However as I stated before, 31,267 out of like active 600K cheating accounts is really chicken scratch. If Jagex still truly is what some people still believe they are - that they still really want to stop bots, their strategy NEEDS to change to incorporate at least some of the following: - perm bans for 1st botting offence, IP/subnet ban for 2nd - not 2nd, 3rd, 4th. 5th...20th account on the same IP like it is now - mass bans with front page PR coverage as a warning - something like Warden to detect and stop the most obvious bots and free scripts (~60% of all bots today) - a period of severe bot detection - new randoms that ask intelligent CAPTCHA questions, aggressive randoms return, and - a more secure game client - RS2 is so badly hacked now that I'm sure that the hackers and botmakers know as much as about the game as a Jagex coder does... If RS3 is ever coming out - I hope to that Jagex make it so that you really have to download a real client. I truly believe RS can be as bot free as possible if Jagex really take time to implement these things - will they now is the question.
  10. 1. ofc they don't encourage it flatly- but not doing it enough to stop it and not punishing those is as good as encouragement. that + free trade...that's really a lot of under the table encouragement right there. 2. It's definitely possible sue, bothways - Jagex is having a long drawn out lawsuit with a major botmaker right now although it's so far been a big legal fail on Jagex's part. I might post a at length thread later on this. You can sue Jagex right here in the U.S. because they do business here. I'm not saying the lawsuit will lead to anything, but you certainly have the right to sue. You cannot sue other botters.... that enforcement is on Jagex's part. 3. this is your opinion and not really a fact...but yes I agree with you that encouraging botting is as good as botting.
  11. People who actually consider Warden spyware are the cheaters themselves and crazy privacy activists - Blizzard is very good for only checking for known cheats and being generally very out of the way and all challenges to Warden on privacy have all been quashed. Because it is really NOT spyware, Warden has limitations in detecting all forms of bots. If a system like warden were to be made for RS, it will be able to stop current 1 of the major free bots - namely [cabbage].org however, the other major RS bot, namely [cabbage].net or N***** will be able to escape it. Either way, a dedicated anti cheating client like this could easily stop 60%+ of the bots dead in its tracks - but will Jagex do it? Hell no. They'll continue to rely on their crappy detection system and "enforce" their rules.
  12. Exactly - not that's much of a bragging right, but hey at least we were part of the ~2bil poeple who watched it :D And yeah, I just got up lol...
  13. anyways there was the kiss - actually the TWO kisses. Wonderful. And it's lights out for me just as the sun's about to rise. G'nightmorning chat.
  14. lol abc tv anchor - "lots of people will be making a lot of money today, just look at all those flags out there" also - ~1million people crammed in front of the Buckingham balcony
  15. Do remember that people from all over the world do watch this - from countries other than those in the commonwealth too. The U.S. probably has the worst viewership numbers out of most countries - from the terrible time conversion - 5:01am for me now..so tired...but also from lack of interest in the royals and a general lack of sense of civics - hell, maybe 5% of this country actually tunes in for the state of the union, but you'll get 20% for American Idol... Anyways, waiting for the kiss now <3 Kiss kiss kiss.
  16. I'm exhausted and can barely keep my eye open @4:21AM - but wow I'm blown away by the ceremony and how amazing Kate and William look. This is the modern fairy tale. Congratulations and best wishes to the newly wedded! (Current estimates @ 2billion viewers)
  17. lizzy, wedding starts at 11. sorry you still got work today.
  18. And...I'm up at 2AM for this! Well...got no classes until 1 pm tomorrow..wait...today anyways.
  19. Kinda, not really. The lawsuit would never work, but it's great to keep the message alive - this is one of the few suggestions that really says to Jagex - we really care about anti-cheating in RS. Sony recently got handed a class action for the PSN info leak, in addition to the Linux removal class action already in progress. It really shows, that legit players really do some power. And I'm all for the gamer's power over corporate power kind of thing. That and at this point, people balk at any new cheating related threads, even though the problem is really NOT getting much better at all.
  20. Well the legit newsletters from Jagex automatically end up in the spam pile now thanks to the phish emails. So did those emails inviting to beta 8realms. Shows the effect of the cheating epidemic outside just gameplay and corporate revenue...
  21. A friendly remainder that the ceremony is going on tonight/tomorrow morning!
  22. and so the number on that thread climbs 29,060 at some point I wonder if mod Chrisso is just writing down a number to soothe us all... But whatever the case, at least they're acknowledging the huge extent of the cheating problem...somewhere...in a corner of the forums. Let's say they actually managed to catch 5% of all botters in game this way, which I really doubt, there would be over HALF A MILLION (580K..) cheating accounts. That is just a staggering amount of cheaters! After a few email exchanges with Jagex customer service, I've find that Jagex seems very divided - there do appears to be some people who actually care about the bots and want to stop their laissez-faire attitude toward cheaters, but the corporate suits above still seems to think otherwise. FFS Jagex why did you have to go corporate? It works for lots of things, but destroys gaming companies. Their souls.
  23. You know, the 1st email is fun - but now 50+ phishing emails later from different scammers in like 3 months - this really does get annoying. Both of my email providers are actually really good in putting those emails right to spam now but FFS when will this [cabbage] end? Remember all this happened when Jagex brought back free trade because they had such great control over cheating and scamming, and RWT situation. Jagex needs to eat some [cabbages].
  24. Very good point - if anything this is a big econ booster - think of all the random celebratory stuff that will sell when this happens + the confidence. Even the anarchists/protesters are contributing - more police people are getting paid.
  25. O GOD. Like...O GOD.
