  1. TBH, a few years ago no maybe just 6 months ago I would've lived for this update - but now I look at it - read the story, and feel satisfied enough. The quest seems to again bring not that new to the table. The cutscenes - as good as they look for "HD" RS, just fails in comparison to any game I pull up on my PS3. And even the 2 heroes' death seem to feel quite pointless - unlike the effect While Guthix Sleeps had on me. And...the new boots...sigh..nothing like claws. :/
  2. Wish I can say the same. <_< Ever since college, I literally have to cram my time to make room for this game and this forum. I would still play since RS has never affected my grades to begin with but it's that I can't keep on playing it since there's nothing to do now that I have billions of gp, every of my skills are no fun, and no content that I can enjoy. I can safely say that I've beaten this game until there was nothing left for me. I know I have so much more to do but I can't continue grinding all my skills since it's just not fun anymore. I'm thinking of quit playing games altogether and find a new hobby like trying to lose weight or focus on my major. Prob not going to happen but it's worth trying. :) My routine keeps me busy enough to not even think about Runescape for days. I usually watch Youtube videos, look up wikipedia articles, search google images, watch/read the news, study for quizzes and exams, and other things. The best part about my life is not having any relationships...since I can save money, time and esp freedom. :shades: Well here's another thought for you - GET a relationship lol. Anyways, with no jobs anywhere and poverty at 15%, that GPA of yours is gonna be more important than ever - college and RS really isn't a good mix. Unless your aim is to fail and become homeless.
  3. couldn't have put it better myself. However, the most recent quest would suggest that there literally isn't much left in terms of the game story. I mean, they even showed Saradomin in-game - to me that says there really isn't gonna be that much more left to say.
  4. Bump and updates read jiblix's "last thread" on RSOF http://[use Quick Find Code]/c=Aq9ahb-H-zQ/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?14,15,91,63187595 Quick find code: 14-15-91-63187595 An inspirational quote for jiblix I just want to say I'm so proud of you. I didn't realise what was going on while I've been away. Clare told me about their decision...tbh I think this is showing EXACTLY why you were given a crown in the first place; you really care about the community & the game. You gave many anonymous people a voice. Jagex tried to save face, by doing the only thing they knew; pushing people away that were the most loyal. More decent people will continue leaving... You are my greatest memory of this game. MMG's response letter to jiblix's thead Guys, reading this thread is heart breaking given it really couldnt be further from the reality. Firstly no offence intended to anyone, Nicole included The fact that everyone is so passionate about this game tells me that you care about it just as much as I do, so we clearly all want the same thing which is to see it successful. (Of course if you hate to see RuneScape continue to grow or Jagex remain a success then I expect there is nothing I can say that will change that) My point to Nicole about you dont have a clue about whats going on @ Jagex/RuneScape was nothing to do with her length of play time or that I was dismissive of her anger/resentment, but instead I believe she has no idea what our motivations truly are or how tirelessly the entire team are working to turn RuneScape round, how dedicated we are working to improve our game, service, etc, etc and that is distressing. (Of course in all fairness how could she know as we dont talk publically about everything we are doing or ask everyone to high-five us because we are doing the right things, we just diligently get on with what needs to be done for the good of the game, community, company) I was deeply sadden by the insinuation that everything we are currently doing to fix and grow the game again is being cynically interpreted as some sort of evil capitalistic plot, the reality was removing the wilderness hurt the game more than it could ever have hoped to fix it, naturally we only know that in hindsight but is it worse to just leave it as it is because we might upset some people that like it or should we do what is best for the game over I honestly did*t know the right answer so thats why I asked all the players to vote and the vast majority could not have been clearer as to what they wanted. So free trade/wilderness is back warts and all, and the entire team are working tirelessly on dealing with the additional issues that created. Of course I understand that if 92% are in favour, 3% dont mind either way, that there is still 5% that will vehemently hate it, I expect rightfully or wrongfully that this thread is largely about the 5% that hate it. As much as we try we simply cant please everyone, especially when dealing with tens of millions of players at any given time, I just hope that 12 months from now the former 5% will look back at what weve done over the course of this year and actually say cool the game is far better now on reflection. The financial cost to Jagex of bringing back the wilderness has been massive, literally we have thousands more support tickets to deal with per day, spending a fortune on bot busting and shutting down gold farmers, credit card fraud, increased headcount across most teams, etc, etc, so bringing back the Wilderness was not either a easy nor *cheap option I can assure everyone. To bluntly put you brought the wilderness back because you wanted to make more money couldnt be more laughable if you actually knew what effort and resources are going into supporting it! However, should we be apologetic if Jagex did make some money at the end of the day, well in truth if we did*t make any money we simply would be able to continue to host, develop or support RuneScape, nor could we invest in hiring and developing the best creative and engineering talent in the industry and lastly if we did*t have the financial resources we simply couldnt continue to develop even more compelling games for our players in the future. If you guys want to flame me for bringing back free trade/Wildy I fully accept that and I will stand by my decision following the overwhelming player support flame away. However, If you seriously want to draw into question either my (or the rest of Jagexs team) love for this game, community or our dedication to continue to make RuneScape better, grow the community and make Jagex more successful overall as a consequence that would be completely unfair. Cheers, Mark"
  5. [citation needed] Cites random crap source. Seriously, most citations you see everywhere (Esp. true on places like Wikipedia and less so in scientific journals) are crap and people "citing" other ppls thoughts as fact. Bogus citations work so well on Wikipedia to get wbms off your ass, but that's totally beside the point. Op is expressing this as a general sentiment, and it's so commonplace that we all prob felt it. Do you really believe that 30000 ppl had more dedication than you getting that mining lvl? You were prob right...bc tons of ppl on that list are bots.
  6. Ahahahahahahahahaha... Sadly, but truly, this sums up f2p so well right now.
  7. Well, what great reputation this yet brings to RS players... Compared to other mmos, RS actually have a comparably large young/female population (try finding some in wow...gl with that) with free chat.
  8. I literally just want to demand we ban these ppl who actually voted for botters.... Seriously! There are much bigger, more active RS cheating forums out there. Please leave out little sanctuary known as tif be.
  9. Come and join the I quit club, the grass is definitely greener on this side :P Seriously, you will find that you suddenly will have so much more time on your hands after you cancel your sub. For one thing, I've become a lot more active on tif and rsof after quitting. Plus other awesome things I've discovered-Starcraft anyone? And school/work. Get your priorities straight ppl. You don't want to not get into college/job/med school because of RS.You will have so much regret. (thankfully I have mangaged to somehow get where I want to be...but don't tempt with fate lol)
  10. After reading the jiblix Interview on tip.it times, I have renewed faith in the community. I am also enlightened by jiblix pointing out that his video, however a thorn in jagex's eyes, never told anyone to vote one way or another, the choice is still yours, just that you will be better informed. Compare that to jagex's vote for us because we have so many bots players...and to my shame, my own thread, even though I am calling out jagex for their censorship and anti democratic behavior.
  11. The RS community and Jagex is lucky to have a mature, courageous voice in jiblix. Respect. The last paragraph...is again touching for me. Thinking back, what made me so anti cheating, who gave me these values of integrity was jagex themselves. And now ironically, it is the same jagex who is taking them away. And bravo tip.it times ppl for getting this insightful interview!
  12. (I'm not even sure who I'm quoting here..) This is just not true. RS is a small, small game from 2001-2003 compared to what it became ~2006. There is no one who can justly tell youthat the game was declining during those years. Bots got a bit overkill in 2007, but Jagex FIXED the damn problem by removing FT and the playerbase took a small hit, but the game was still growing at least til mid ~2008 ish. The playerbase has been declining very steadily since then and has NEVER really recovered. Why the doomspeak now? Because so many of the players left have turned to the dark side. The bot to human ratio is appalling, no matter if you contend it to be 90% or 30%. You really can't find another MMO where even 30% of the online pop at any time are bots. AND on top of that, you still continue to see the declining playerbase - despite Jagex pretty much opening RS to cheating and RWT. And all that, is very much off topic - I'm sure someone will get mad now. But still to reiterate my on topic idea - consolescape - bad gaming mechanics but kind of bot-proof at least.
  13. Okay, fine. I'll give you a brief summary. [hide=Braches of Darkmayor] one day there was a vampire so you went back to burg drot and talk to the guy and he says to go to the bank and go in an hole and you do. so you find some coffine and get a metallion and its evil so you bring it back to belmont and something to go to mayorditch. and go find other secret hero mans an then talk to more people and you see little girl whos scary and turns out to be trick! Vamprye come out and is actually freind?? so okay then she help and fight dreken you go to darkmayor and use bombs to invincible. you go past Guards and get clothes for digise so then your a vampyre and you make friends with everone and then you find the tree and get the wood and make the weapons. Go back to base and tell mens to get SLafan but hes missin and hes an icene so its plot twist! then you go fight draculas' cousin and a boss fight, so you win and go home but people are still ciff hanger.. the end [/hide] +1
  14. Well, RWT is so bad now that I literally searched my local craigslist and found people selling gold ($0.60/mil) - and a partyhat - for $500 IRL money. I mean...FFS....yeah. In other news, Andrew's Fen Research facebook page now has 130 like...LOL
  15. I honestly can't tell what browser you're using - but remember that the most standard browser/setups will always be supported the best - eg. IE/firefox. And as others mentioned, installing the client will fix it too.
  16. I've always thought and have been a proponent of less GRINDY content and more FUN content aimed at the masses of NOT 126/138/99everything player even though I'm in the latter group However, that does not mean Jagex should just take away ACHIEVEMENTS from players who have already put in the time. Achievements/goals are what made RS competitive when most of the content is really single player. They're all the rage now even in console gaming - but Jagex seemed to have abandoned this concept and just let cheaters make achevements in RS totally pointless.
  17. @God_Himself :DD Seriously. Someone should go do that. At this point I bet there are bots made by botters to vote the game up... I really hope there is enough community support to pull this anti-vote off. Maybe I should go rally some LoL ppl to vote for their game... Seriously! Jagex has got some nerve to claim themselves to be the best free MMO this year - what a load of BS.
  18. IMO...RS would really fail as a console game - this is a game designed for a MOUSE - I don't see how any controller can replace it. BUT.. I actually think the console makers has the right idea - I don't think they're that concerned with competitor's players interacting with each other - but the huge corrupt bot army that the PC version will bring. A clean slate, console RS sound attractive about now. I'm not saying impossible, but botting would be so much harder on a secured RS running say on an online PS3. There is no hack/jailbreak out there for the PS3 that will allow you to be online, hence, no bots directly on the console firmware.
  19. The mysterious Fen Research has surfaced on Facebook with a message from Andrew himself... http://www.facebook.com/fenresearch
  20. I've been a doomsayer for a while now - but when I say that RS will die - I'm not saying that all the servers will stop running - but that real players (esp. long time players, since pretty much NO NEW PLAYERS can get into this game now...) will stop playing the game so that there is pretty much nothing but bots/diehard loyalists remain. Surprisingly, by taking the money off bots/diehard loyalists, most MMOs can last a LONG TIME before servers are ever shut. But the game is essentially dead. Unless you like wondering through a ghost game or pretending to be playing a single player game. MMOs that come to these stages become but a sad husk of their former game, whispering softly of their past glory days of being the talk of the day. (sound like a vyre corpse...)
  21. I'm not so sure about 2001, but scapeboard was definitel around already early 2002 when I started. It was literally the ONLY RS forum out there - and it was quite epic. Here's an archuve taken by the Wayback Machine in 2002. http://web.archive.org/web/20021201094344/http://www.scapeboard.com/2/ A little sad note, is that the users online in 2002 compared to 2011 is actually not that far off - even though the playerbase is much smaller then. Where are the people now? Well those cheating forums that have 5k+ ppl online all the time .... I am glad though that tip.it lasted this long - this was one of the first websites I visited on my 33.6K dial-up modem, and I hope TIF/tip.it last another 10 years!
  22. LOL very true. RS did deserve to be recognized by real gaming communities at some point - esp. 2005-2006 when the game was so dominant in the MMO market. The only 'award' who decided to give Jagex anything was the little-known golden joysticks thing - whose website crashed when Jagex 1st asked for fan support - and fans gladly gave their support. But NOT THIS YEAR - the game has really gone under to cheating - they might as well just burn their rules and openly allow botting and RWT. This is the one year where RS doesn't deserve to be recognized - not even by the golden joysticks, and ESPECIALLY not for the best free MMO.
  23. So I was using Steve Jobs as an analogy earlier - how he never quit Apple - well LOL today he did resign as CEO - with a big difference from Andrew - he's still sitting tight on the board of directors with lots of control. And AAPL shares? Pretty much just fine with a tiny dip. Oh Andrew...what did you do? @Wessan - haven't watched that thing for a while - guess I'll try to catch up.
  24. LOL - bxp weekend in conjunction with a membership sale... this marketing NEVER ends really. Well, at least I give credit for at least attempting to hiding the bxp weekend and not make it sooo obvious "buy membership and get bonus xp NOW!!" And I'm 100% sure that the next one is in another 6 months - March 2012 (if the game survives that long -.-) , if you happened to hoarding cheap supplies for this one. Remember when this first one started and we were promised that we might NEVER get another one? well GL with that.
