Pink Floyd Topic
I'm a big fan of Pink Floyd. I've got Echoes, Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, i think they're great. The way they texture and layer sounds, and use everyday objects and noises is fantastic. Great guitar work as well. I love the way the albums evolve and one song will move seamlessly onto the next.

moments thats made you jump
:D My boyfriend is scared to death of spiders. Once, he found one in his room while I was over. I had to pick it up and put it outside while he cowered in the next room. Argh, a huge (by my standards) spider crawled right over my laptop keyboard last night, i fell off my chair and ran to the other side of the room. Problem is i can't take my eyes off the things because i don't want to lose sight of them and for them to jump out at me again. Spiders totally get me though.

Live in the UK? What would you do with âš£350? (ID Cards)
Hmm, i'm not sure what to make of it. I'm sure it'll help track criminals and keep tabs on people generally, but it certainly won't stop terrorism like they claim. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã350 is a lot of money, but i think the worst thing is how the much the whole administration and computer system will cost. Knowing the British government it'll be many times the amount that they claim. I'm not too keen on the idea of them having all my biometric data either, I know they say if you haven't done anything wrong what have you got to hide, but it just doesn't feel right. Call me a conspiricist but if someone corrupt got their hands on that information who knows what could happen.

what stupid things did you get in trouble for in school
Yup, same at my school. If you're wearing the school uniform or kit therefore you're representing the school and so have to be on your "best behaviour". I've never done that much exciting stuff, but one that stands out was when I set someones windows media player to play girls aloud (it's an all boy school :P ) on full volume then locked his computer so he had to retype his password and everything in the IT labs. Pretty funny. I once got told off for giving some bullies a talking to, but they had it coming.

Issue in Iraq - Updated Again!
Its racist if the Kuwaiti's don't give you rights but when Saddam doesn't let his people vote in free elections and kills them because they are Kurds you say he "just has to be tough on them." I think it's just sad that the Iraqis were suffering when Saddam was in power, and now they have to suffer a lot more when Saddam was captured. But surely it has a better chance of ever becoming peaceful with the current plans? As you said, democracy should be a universal concept, so isn't it better to try and implement it now?

Dragon Pick Axe
I don't see a problem with a dragon pickaxe being released, since there already pickaxes of all the other metals unlike the generic chisel etc. But a petition WON'T do a thing to speed up Jagex. They have their own plans that they'll stick to.

Tried and tested method that people with common sense seem to favour, but those with "honour" will flame. Honour, yeah right

Issue in Iraq - Updated Again!
Okay Scruffy, I can see your point of view and it's one i've considered quite a few times. Let's go back to before the war. I wasn't one of the ones who would of seen the nukes (or lack of as it turns out) as the real reason for going to war. You said that he was quite happy to keep his atrocities within his own borders. This I am not denying, but the fact is don't we have a moral responsibility as the western powers to resolve these atrocities? Isolationism only works up to a point. There comes a point where you think, "if we really want world peace we're going to have to expand our horizons." Back to the present. I agree that Iraq is in a bad way now (it's important to remember though that we'll only ever see the bad aspects through the media). However that does not mean that we should just give up on it. I don't know the exact figures but i'm pretty sure the American military has enough cash to stay there at the moment. As Barihawk said, to establish an effective democracy does take time. If we pulled out now it might never resolve itself. If we continually support and condition Iraq to take care of itself then eventually we can pull out and leave democracy to take care of the rest. We may not leave an Iraq without any conflict, that would be a big ask, but we can set it on the road to recovery.

Issue in Iraq - Updated Again!
I think certain aspects of it are. It's probably harder for the average citizen nowadays but you don't have the genocides and the fear of the system that you had in Saddam's rule. Saddam ruled with a system of terror, almost like Stalin on a smaller scale. Many people living in Russia during Stalin's rule regealed him as a great leader, but since his rule it's been estimated that some 10 million people died in his purges. Does this make what he did right? Propoganda is king here. People only believe what they're told. Especially in a dictatorship where they're unable to look outside the system. I appreciate the global media has now entered Iraq but believe me even though Saddam may of kept a relatively stable, it was stable in so far as there was no room for opposition. There were still horrendous things going on, but they were just happening behind the curtain of the "stable" system. Stability is relative, Nazi Germany was "stable" but does that mean we should of just left it?

Is human society screwed? (new topic name)
I agree that it's by no means a perfect system, but in terms of politics it's a relatively new concept. Frankly it's so overwhelmed with the current problems throughout the world. I refuse to accept that it's a completely broken system though. The idea behind the UN isn't what I think is broke. But I can't think of anything good the UN does... I'm reading a book on that at the moment, let me get back to you on that  Off the top of my head though i'm sure some of the arms embargoes etc. have had some effect. I might be wrong though.

Issue in Iraq - Updated Again!
@ Kryptic: No....just no. Anyway back to the original poster. You said something about how he kept the country stable through a system of violence and fear. Is that really a country and system that you want to live in and be proud of? You said about how the average guy could get on well if he kept his mouth shut, but that leaves no room for opposal. Most dictatorships build up such a system of fear so that when the time comes for a plan of a possibly large auspicious scope there is no opposition from within. What happened to freedom of speech? Yes Iraq may be in a bad way right now but in years to come you could be living in a stable country WITHOUT the fear and violence. Surely this is worth fighting for even if it isn't a quick fix?

Democracy and capitalism do work, as proven by the United States of America. No, it's not a perfect system, no one said it was but to my mind it's the best there is (that's capitalism and democracy in general btw). It takes a lot of work, and can work better under certain administrations but the general fundamentals laid down by the Constitution are in my mind, right. Actually I see the United Nations as the way forward, democracy may require hard work but it generally is the most morally correct way.

What you have to remember is that somewhere down the line that company has to make money somehow. Just make sure it isn't off you or your friends

Humans have sunk to an all-time low (WTH warning)
It's small subcultures of any culture that do things like this and drag the whole culture tha drag people down. People automatically assume that they must be connected. It's sick, and no one in their right mind would do that. It's a shame.

Ways to stop smoking - - - - Please Help
If you really love the girl, just remember that every time you pick up a cigarette just remember it's stopping you from being with her. Get rid of all the cigarettes lighters etc. and find something else to eat/drink/chew when you feel like a cigarette, anything, just something to keep those sticks of death out of your mouth.

Would you kill 500 people to stop aids?
I don't know, I mean i'm sure there are 500 people out there who we could get rid of to save millions in the future, but I don't know if i could do it if it was my friends and family, I wouldn't be strong enough or ever be able to live with myself.

Why I hate The O.C.
Bubsa, I thought I was the only one. Everyone at my school seems to watch it (save a few) which put me off immediately. But eventually I decided to bite the bullet and watch it with the promise of sun and hot girls. Well yeah, there is, but it's all so sickly it's unbelievable. They're all good looking characters/actors living in California in massive houses having pool parties and walks on the beach at sunset all the time and they all have loaded parents. Sickly, really sickly. I agree about the music, I can't bear to hear that song by Phantom Planet anymore. It's just all too commericialised.

F1 2006
Well it looks like the Ferrari is back up to speed now, but it's good to see Alonso maintaining his form by winning the GP. I don't watch it like I used to, but it's better now that Schumacher's ultimate reign is over. I wouldn't put it past him though, he's far from done yet. Being a Brit I want to see Button triumph, he's got a good car and a good team, he just lacks the ability to finish off with a win, despite some very good performances. Overall it should be a good season.

Desert Island Discs
Some of you may or may not have heard about Desert Island Discson BBC Radio 4 (UK). To quote the site and give a brief description: But these shouldn't simply be just your favourite records (although they often are). These should be records that you would be able to play again and again, without tireing of them. They should mean something to you, remind of you of somewhere or someone, and they should try and encompass the range of your musical taste. For example, mine would be: Now We Are Free (From Gladiator) - Hans Zimmer This would represent the modern classical side of my taste. Immensely powerful and textured, it also reminds me of my favourite holiday location. It's reflective and always focuses me and gets me thinking. In My Heart - Moby Representing the electronica side of me, it's upbeat and simple, but very beautiful. I can imagine looking out over the bay at sunset listening to this, a smile on my face. What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong Wonderful song, timeless voice, it reminds me despite all the war and destruction, just what a wonderful world it is. It's not in your face, it's just there, a timeless classic. Heartbeats - JosÃÆÃâÃâé GonzÃÆÃâÃâález The song with the highest playcount on my iTunes. He has a fantastic soft voice and the guitar playing is brilliant, but it's the softness and raw beauty of this song which does it for me. It's reflective, no matter how many times I play it whenever I play it i'll always listen to it all the way to the end, and will generally stop whatever i'm doing to listen to it. It's very powerful. Primarily though it reminds me of a girl, which is enough. Fields Of Gold - Eva Cassidy This song reminds me of all the friends and family who have passed away in my life, i've cried listening to this song it's so powerful. Eva Cassidy's voice is beautiful on it, and it's just her and her guitar. It also reminds me of long carefree summer days. Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin It's long and complex, and reminds me of my school and all my friends. I can always listen to it all the way through, and I could always imagine doing a cover of this in a band. More Than A Feeling - Boston This one would give me something to air guitar along to, and is brilliantly upbeat and uplifting. It encompasses all the classic rock in my collection, and always sets my foot tapping. Imagine - John Lennon Reminds me how important the power of imagination is. This one will always set me questioning who I am and what I believe. So what would yours be?

Tip.It Times Presents: Biased Banning Raises Brows
It's weird, they may be biased towards banning long time players for offensive names, but when it comes to a reputable player with a very high skill total like DroolMAN, they'll ban him immediately for a confused IP checking system (which severely needs updating by the sounds of things).

Most annoying sounds?
Snoring drives me mad. It's the combination of the bizarre noise and the fact that it's keeping me awake. I also agree with the crazy frog, and in fact ringtones in general.
