  1. Way cool  That'd freak the hell out of any terrorists sheltering in native villages, a swarm of mini robot things buzzing round looking for them. This bit made me think how humans are pretty much the opposite :P
  2. Wait a second, so your saying that me having sex with my girlfriend before marriage is the same as me raping and murdering said girlfriend? Hahahahhaha....yeah, good one
  3. Wash all your gears and chains down, get any mud or grit out. Then let them dry, oil them, and go for a ride and cycle through all your gears slowly a few times. If it's still clicking take it back to the shop.
  4. There's also no way to prove that fairies live at the bottom of my garden, should we believe that too?
  5. Oh god yeah, he's bloody awesome with a guitar, such flair and talent it's staggering. A great, great blues musician as well. Anyway, back on to jazz, as someone who likes Miles Davis, where would I go from there?
  6. heartless, you're an idiot. Funny that, since religious conflicts have been the base of so many modern conflicts (i'm thinking terrorism, Israeli-Palestine) i'm thinking a lot less fighting and since there's no irrational stuff to believe in we have a lot more rational thinking. Don't be ridiculous, since when is religion required for teawork or cooperation? Wait a second though, i'm moral, and i'm an atheist. How does that work? Your logic fails. Any evidence for how children growing up without religion, abuse from priests, terror of hell, loss of foreskin, a more varied diet and ridiculous daily rituals live happier lives? Nah, didn't think so. Religion is child abuse (to be controversial). Unless you've committed a sin, then you're goin' straight to eternal torture! Anyway, many atheists have died perfectly contentedly, with no worries or fears, just a contentment that they made the most and lived their lives to the fullest. Again, baseless assumption. Alright then, how about those wacko fundamentalists who want to nuclear war because they reckon it will bring about the armaggdedon and second coming of Christ? They're similarly violent. Your whole argument is based on the fact that we need religion to be moral, when that has been proven to be absolutely false. You've also conveniently ignored the bad-Christ quotes I offered you.
  7. It was err...odd, to say the least. It had some very good bits and some dodgy bits. Franky, i'm a bit tired of that Martha Jones character so I wasn't too upset when she semi-left at the end (although she might pop back). John Simms as the Master was fantastic, really sad to see him go, and David Tennant as the Doctor was brilliant as always so I wish we had seen a bit more of him in the episode. As for the plot, it was a bit patchy, some of the tie-ins were brilliant (i'm thinking the Face of Beau one) and although I didn't see the resolution coming it was kinda...well I don't know. Anyway, pretty good series overall, looking forward to the next one.
  8. :wall: Sorry, but i'm not even going to bother with people who actually want to remain ignorant in the face of evidence for evolution or the big bang. Hate to sound crude, but you don't deserve the effort. Any Christians willing to be openminded here? Oh, and Defender, a lot of Jesus' beautitudes were reasonably sound moral teachings, but if you trawl through the Bible you can find some equally disgusting rubbish that he spouts on about. But two examples (both Jesus): And, on a final note, even if there was a god, I sure as hell would not bow to and praise him. How vain.
  9. Shame superman wasn't there to save the day this time eh! hahah. Sorry, that's horrible. oops :x Poor girl, hasn't got a leg to stand.... sorry! Couldn't resist! :wall:
  10. I'm really losing the will here (divine intervention?), so i'll keep it short: Irrational: absolute belief in any unproven entity is irrational, i'd of thought that was obvious. Violent: look back in history, the church dominated people's lives, told them what they could do and what they couldn't. The church is responsible for violent reform, class struggle, crusades, witch hunts, executions etc. It's only recently (probably since the rise of secularism started in America) that people have moved away from the church, so the church has to act all kind and preach a message of kindness and tolerance to win over the minds of those who like that kind of message but don't really look at how many have died to limit it to that messsage nowadays. Oh yeah, and read the Old Testament. Intolerant: Every religion believes that they have the absolute and whole truth. Judaism is the oldest, Chrisitanity is an improvement and Islam is the supposed 'final word of God'. How can three conflicting religions possibly live in tolerance? They don't, they preach it on the surface but the basis of their religion is their demise.
  11. Oh no of course not, religious people have done a lot of good work for various charities and organistions (ignoring the fact that religious charities get considerable benefits compared to non religious ones). But the thing is, you don't need to be a Christian to believe in charity, so why argue against atheism on that basis? I know you're trying to say that not all Christians are bad, and of course they're not, in fact the majority aren't bad, it's just not a very good argument for Christianity that, "we're not all like that".
  12. Oh gee, he's done it now. *runs* Oh snap, I just re-read it and realised how that would sound to a religious person. :P It's just an opinion folks! No harm meant! :uhh:
  13. Haha, that'll never die  I think if it helps people quit in the least, it's a good thing, and i'm sure it'll be great for waitresses and barmen working in smoky places who don't like the smoke. As for me, it never massively bothered me, but it'll probably make a nice change.
  14. Maybe his definition of religion is different than mine. A religion is a belief of hope; that's the way I interpret religion. Sorry, that was misleading. That wasn't a definition, more of an opinion of what religion tends towards.
  15. Oh boy... Because there isn't any evidence whatsoever for God, and just because you cannot absolutely disprove something doesn't make it true. And, in the words of Christopher Hitchens, religion is "violent, irrational, intolerant, allied to racism and hostile to free inquiry, contemptuous of women and coercive towards children." Actually, the second bit would just make me an anti-theist, but whatever. Oh, and you spelt atheist wrong.
  16. First off, the debate forum is for debates related to Runescape. This ain't. Secondly, seriously, stop with the whining about 'attacking' your religion. I'm not attacking it, i'm questioning it (which i'm perfectly entitled to do so). No, i'm not going to lock it because some Christians are offended, but nor would I lock a thread where some atheists, or liberals were offended. Like I said, freedom to criticise, freedom of speech and freedom to hold an opinion are fundamental. I don't 'like' attacking you, because I don't attack you in the first place. What I do like doing is debating with reasonable open-minded Christians about their faith. If you don't want to do it then that's fine, i'm not saying you have to do, just stop making such a fuss when I try and have a debate with some that do. Yeah, the threads got a little off track now (okay, a lot), but it's still fine by my book. If you want to let it die then just let it die.
  17. Well, not 24/7, but if they spent a good two third's of their day everyday questioning their beliefs until they became a glorious atheist I think i'd be alright with that :P
  18. It's not that i'm trying to convert you anyway, I just want people to question what they believe in. I don't really care what conclusions they come to, as long as they question it.
  19. If you check the definition religion is belief based on faith is a part of it. Atheists don't have that, that's the difference. Also, saying you're an atheist tells you pretty much nothing about what you're like as a person, it's not a set of beliefs, it's just a lack of belief in a god. Also, live and let live is all very well except for the bits of the Bible which some Christians follow which say you must convert everyone whatever the cost to Christianity. I'm not saying that's how you live, it's just how some Chrisitans live. If you don't want to question your beliefs then that's fine, but i'm entitled to question yours, and if you don't like it then don't read it, it's as simple as that. It's only words.
  20. That's exactly why I hate atheists who shove their religion down up my [wagon]. A, it's not a religion. B, I'm not shoving it down anyone's. Like I said, if you're not prepared to question what you believe in then don't come here whining when I debate with people who question theirs. Sheesh.
  21. Definitely a good idea. Anything which cuts the number of lives needlessly wasted every year on the roads is a good thing. Although I suppose part of the problem is the mentality of the boy racer youth who's nowhere near good enough to drive like he reckons he should.

Meh, I don't care about them. It's their birthday, let em enjoy it :P Don't like em, then don't read em or comment on em. Simple as that. ;) Otherwise, happy birthday :)
  23. If you don't like the fact that people are going to question your beliefs then don't read these kinda threads. Otherwise, the freedom to hold opinion and criticise is crucial, and I will always question your belief just as I would expect others to question mine (or lack of). So don't you dare tell me to mind my own business and shut up, because I know damn well that most Christians don't do it with me when i'm open with them. Stop burying your head in the sand, wake up and smell the debate.
  24. You're making blind assumptions there. Namely, that I was too cowardly to talk to her, that's false, I was the first, and I was the first to know that she didn't want to go out with me and would rather go out with my best mate. But we stayed friends, as much as it hurt, and loved her from a distance, until something else happened, and all hell broke loose. If you told me that you honestly loved a girl then I would not even dare to think that I could tell you otherwise. So don't try it with me, becauses you've got no idea, really, you don't.
