  2. Hehe, I didn't even think to look for a tut on it. I see what your saying about the switching it up every line and I'll try that. If nothing else it will look better than what I have atm. Thanks for taking the time. :)
  3. Is that a bean bag he's leaning against?
  4. Naw, the basics are fairly easy to understand. My problem is with artistic direction, or the lack thereof. What program i need and can you give me a copy? :P
  5. I wanna learn flash, is it hard?
  6. I'll draw up a small sketch for you tonight. Was a little wrong with my c's, :P But you get the idea? Looks better than small tiles. :-w Oh, I thought you were gonna show me how to draw it effectively, I know how chainmail is put together, knowing how it is put together however doesn't make it easier to draw...
  7. Worse :P Could you explain a little better? I don't quite understand what you're saying. Yes it is! I've been studying real chainmail pics trying to pick up on the subtle patterns to recreate it. But guess I still haven't achieved it. I have tried making more circular shapes but the end product looked even worse. In my studies of the chainmail a zig-zag pattern seems to be the most predominant. I've just been trying to recreate that. The way it is now looks the best out of all of my attempts so far... Thanks everyone for the comments I will post updates when I have them and if anyone else has some ideas regarding chainmail or other c/c please post your ideas.
  8. Ok, why, please be more specific so I can maybe see what you're seeing.
  9. Update on first post. :)
  10. I see, you could still capture the sweat glisten better. Might make it look less flat and less like face paint. Yea I think that would do it. :D
  11. Looks really good, the lighting transition on the face looks a little funny, almost like his face is covered in blood. Maybe try using a smudge tool to blend the colors better or were you going for that painted effect? Either way looks really good. :)
  12. B2D your work has gotten much better since I last surfed these forums, looking good. :)
  13. Very nice photos, you have a good eye :)
  14. PC all the way. I find digital art much easier and more convenient than traditional art. Of course there are those people who claim digital art isn't real art, but I think they're just resisting change :P But in the end, it's whatever works best for you. A lot of people like to draw something then scan it and color it in their prefered program. I prefer drawing on the computer (helps with a tablet) easy to fix mistakes and get desired results faster imho. Great way to learn. ANyways, I ramble..
  15. Updated on first page, changed left hand, added some more sketch ideas and started helm horns.
  16. Like the trees, rocks and characters but the rest seems a bit lacking specifically the grass. Sure can pound those out...
  17. New update, worked on head and helmet, still trying to get chainmail to my liking this is closer, not sure what more i can do. Any suggestions on the chainmail are welcome. update on first post
  18. I would say that the legs are too short. Nice linework though :)
  19. I was not happy with how the chain mail was looking so I changed it, any comments on it? Curious what people think. update on first post You might need to reload the pic for the most recent version of it.
  20. Part two was released in October, 2005. It was the main reason I got membership again. Wow, it seems to me like that quest was this year, amazing how time flys...
  21. Looks good, I especially like the swirl of snow you added, really gives it a cold winter day feel. Some things I would change if it were my painting: - the snow on the building and tree looks like cotton, it is translucent and doesn't give the feel of heavy snow collected on the house. I'd give it some weight. - something about the windows bothers me, they are too defined or something. - the chimney seems to be at a different angle than the rest of the house? - the tree could use some smaller branches shooting off from the larger. The new shadows are a definite improvement compared to the last. I would add some dips and bumps in the snow to add some texture. All in all though, a nice painting. :)
  22. Thanks for the comments. :) The sword and hands still need some work, I'll get it figured out though. As far as wierd anatomy well, that sjust how it turns out sometimes. I'm not as concerned with anatomy as the feel of the art. ANatomy isn't everything after all. :) I am using photshop fyi. Regular brushes and smudge tool mainly. Here's a smallish update, started working on the chainmail a bit and smoothed the arms a little more. updated on first post
  23. what about mournings end part 2?
  24. Now both arms are colored in :P updated on first post
  25. Little update to give an idea of where I'm going with this. :) updated on first post
