The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Switzerland stands by its decision to use the Chinese RFG system to wipe Japan off the face of the planet. Though of course does so in secret(Since it was already announced it doesn't make masses of difference to me)

Ok, just follow the onscreen instructions(its a tempermental system) [hide] [/hide]

Aeroika
ah, right, you should type install instead of viceroy then. Viceroy is the name of the game file after installation
-
Aeroika
To do the game you need to unpack it then open dosbox and type: mount t C:/(Whatever the file address is) t: viceroy

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
There is a big difference between a developed nation slaughtering innocent civilians and a despotic nation slaughtering civilians...You wanted to pretend you were an evolved nation with an empire, you take the price that goes with it. No. You launched a stupid attack and now we all have to deal with the consquences, and the Anthrax attack isn't overpowered...it was powerful... There is a massive difference between something being unrealistically, and something being realistically horrific. And it was not merely about you fighting to defend yourself...No one else was taking any action, everyone else had backed off, for whatever reason, and then you went and demanded that the attack be fired. It was an internal matter, driven entirely by Indonesia and you just used it to justify destroying your enemies.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Or we could just not...Since no one else decided to launch a genocidal attack regardless of the consequences...To prove a point or otherwise... I don't think Retech should be banned, I think that people should wake up and realise that they need to make sure that no nation develops to be too far ahead of any of the others. People just need to have a modicum of responsibility...

It does have to run out of dosbox on anything newer than 98.

Super weapons would probably be rolling a rock down a hill...Biological Warfare would be catapulting diseased animals into besieged cities... At least until next year sometime when technology has evolved a bit

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fno.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FSaltkraft&sl=no&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8 The complexity of the task astounds and amazes. Obvouisly seeds can't spread. Genetically Modifed...though you could say they were God Modded as well...since the phrase 'Survive Extreme Cold and lack of good atomsphere' is not one I would readily think would develop in 2010...

Vaguely. Colonisation(Go English Spelling) had a much more complicated interface: EG: To make coats you needed to assign people to collect furs, which could be done much better by a special type of colonist called a Fur Trapper, then you needed to build a Fur Traders outpost, then you needed to assign people to work there, and that could be done much better if they were the special Fur Traders type of colonist, they would then make Coats, which you would then sell back to your mother country, which would tax the socks off you. However you might not have any high fur tiles free around your city, and thus only have 6 tonnes of furs coming in per turn, but your outpost has the capacity to make 12, thus you are not recieving 6 units, even though you have the capacity to do so. Or Visa-Versa, leaving you with masses of furs, but very few coats. Further more if you want to build things you need to cut down trees and send them to a carpenter, who generates 'hammers' which, as you know, builds stuff. The process for making muskets is the most complex though, since you need to mine or trade ore, then refine that to tools, then refine that to muskets, and Tools are useful as well, so you need to find a good balance between them. Since sometimes a city might not, for instance, be able to mine ore(No hills nearby perhaps), there was a system called wagon trains, which you could set up to trade between your colonies...ideally taking ore from a city with a surplus and depositing it to a city which didn't have any, but had a high grade of smithy with a high grade of blacksmith. Which sounds simple, but then the damned AI would station troops between your cities and cut you off...or your trains would get attacked by Natives. Or you would be at war...or sometimes you would need something somewhere else and reorder things without fully thinking it through, leading to the whole breakdown of your empire(well not that bad but you get the point) The new game will be similar, but will be much wider in scope...ie you can try to extract any sort of resource, rather than the set few. The game will focus on specialising your towns to produce whatever, as well as building universities and such where you conduct your research...since if you have 20 experts in the field of agriculture they will do far better at researching new agricultural techniques than, say, 20 random people, and the 20 experts will do an even better job if they are in a university which caters for their needs. Thus Universities become specialised over time...so if you do lots of research into...long grain rice(for example), in the University of Bangor, then the University of Bangor becomes far better at studying long grain rice than any of your other Universities. Basically you could leave it running for a week and, unless a war started or something, things would have progressed stably without you. Wars would also be much lengther...since the game will be on tiles, as opposed to open plan, units will move at certain speeds(As ever units used to moving fast will be faster than other units, though horses will outstrip even the fastest regular units). So in that respect it is just like Civ... It might take quite a number of turns before your armies meet. I will try to make it sound less scary =P

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osmotic_power Oh the difficulty... Oh yes...A project to uber screw the ecosystem...lets make GM trees and scatter them across the Earth. No idea what this is Already stated why this is a bad idea... Rarely. Typically co-operating would shave off a few months...and of course it would be cheaper per person...instead of 2 projects there is 1 project. That is just common sense. Yeah...The whole Genocide thing...Bad Ross, how could you not trust Retech after he tried to extermine you...I want you to go over there and appologise to him...yes I know he has just got out a high powered sniper's rifle and blown your arm off, but that is no excuse...

Yeah. I would highly recommend that people play Colonization(You will need to download DosBox too), since it will help to give people a handle on how cities will work...Basically I am going with the idea that a nation is a collection of cities, and thus cities generate goods, which can be used by the nation. As opposed to the nation producing goods and the nation using those goods. I have a 5 hour hole in my schedual tommrow, so I shall write the rules up then. http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/old-games/colonization.php http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/dosbox/

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Yes, the difference those trade deals made... The fanciful and unrealistic Salt Power(cunning named to prevent people researching what it actually is...Osmotic Power) capable of producing 25 TWh/year...No...Wait, Salt Power is estimated to produce 25 MWh/year by 2015... But does that stop you? NO, of course not. You just announce 'Salt Power produces lots of power, do you want a generator or five?'...You even tried to sell them to Switzerland, a nation which has no naturally occuring salt water basins...It just underlines a total failure to even attempt realism. Its just symptomic of what is wrong with Hegemony, people going off with half baked idea, not telling anyone about them or not posting any sort of weblink to check the technology out for ourselves... Otherwise it has only been military research, which pretty much goes against your point. Like building underwater cities out of plywood...or spacecraft out of 2 by 4. A total lack of realism, compounded by large numbers and the assumtion that if two or more nations work on something it is done faster, cheaper and without any complication. Such a non-statement...it would be like going into Wall Street and saying 'The Only reason I buy Shares is because Russians wear Coats when its Cold.'...IE, The only reason I am doing what I am supposed to be doing is because other people are doing what is sensible.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Ico, the whole point of me explaining that no one knew the bombings were anthrax, except Japan, is to indicate that no one would have closed their borders. Anyway, actual research suggests that it would take six months to a year to fine a cure for a specific strain of Anthrax, from zero hour. About the wind...I imagined, in the lack of any definative proof either way, that a sea voyage for a day or so, potentially more, would have killed the bacteria, especially given the low temperatures...as well as it being sporal, and thus probably landing in the ocean and getting destroyed subsquently by the salt content.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Meh. I am here to do a job, a job Sere asked me to do because he felt the game was completely uncontrolled without a moderator, and numerous people agreed. I want the game to be fun, but Retech wanted to win...so either I get to enjoy myself or I to do the job I am supposed to do...
-
The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Thats reality for you... What do you want me to do exactly? 'Sorry, you can't invade Indonesia or attack Japan in anyway because it will cause Retech to launch bioweapons...' 'Sorry, Retech, you can't build bioweapons because they are powerful...You can't have a large army either...yes I know that three people are invading you, but it would be overpowered if 1 person could defend themselves against 3 people.' Reality doesn't care if something is fair or not, it merely is. If you want to argue about it talk to Sere.
-
The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Mather, Sere has asked for people to voice their opinions, not vote. This is not the first to 4 votes...this is 'How do people feel about these things', because Sere wants to make sure the game in enjoyable for everyone, and thus is being responsible.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Dungeon, I don't expect you like me...I am the guy who comes along and tells you why things can't be done. However, for the intents and purposes of this game, I am reality. Sere is the one that deals with the game element, I just state the realism of the game, as I understand it...If I am proved wrong then fine, reality is whatever the most accurate representation of events are, but that is generally my version of events, as agreed by Sere, who is the Mod Absolute, since this is his thread and his game and no one else's. In any case I am not asking whether or not you like Anthrax Weapons, I am stating that we warned you what was going to happen...If Retech decided to launch his weapons after we expressly told him it would wreak havok across the planet, then that is his informed decision. If you choose to do nothing to stop Retech having Anthrax Weapons, then that is your decision.
-
The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Errr...Yes I can, Sere has said that if your technology was overpowered(Specifically your technology), to stop you using it until he returned. Also I honestly don't care what everyone says, the game is not group moderation, its Sere, then me...Anthrax weapons were over powered, we said that, no one paid any notice. We said this is what was going to happen, no one paid any notice...We are not going to go back on it merely because now that it has happened you found out that maybe you should have listened instead of ignoring us...

Hello again. If Hegemony really does go down the tube...as it innevitably seems to be doing...then I am thinking of starting Aerokia the following week(so the 8th). However, I have been thinking about a cross between Dungeoneering and Hegemony... And Civilization. You start off as 100 nomads, in a strange new world...you have recently banded together from five smaller tribes, bringing with them the basic knowladge of agricultural, housing, animal husbandry, currency and stone weapons. You are given a Hex map of the local area and you can decide whether to explore or to settle down. It will work mainly like Colonization(Civs Sister), ie you assign a unit of people to a job and they bring in a set amount of resource per year, from a set area. The game will probably advance 10 years at a time, given the long time scale, but we will slow down later on....However things back then take a long time, so you probably won't notice much difference, except your population grows faster. Economy will be simplifed immensely, with units of people bringing in a set amount of coins, which you can spend in three ways...Treasury(Storing money), Science(Research) or Culture(Influence). You cannot spent money from the treasury in the other two though...the money you have stored can be used to buy stuff, to pay for your armies or whatever else. I can go into more detail if people like, but only if people want to play the game, otherwise I will just launch Aerokia and we will see what happens.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Meh, you don't follow the rules, so if someone doesn't follow the rules then the moderators can ignore the rules to overpower the idiot user....Mass to Energy would take an insane amount of power...something with Scandinavians 40,000 odd people are not capable of producing.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Wrong, the Uber nation I just invented does, I am going to proxy the UFP(United Federation of Planets) Anyway Japan got RFGed...its never coming back, so can we drop it and focus on keeping people alive...if at all?

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Maybe 1% less for every 100 miles you are from the attacks, excluding ocean crossings. If that is acceptable then I will work it out.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Doom is still a relatively weak power by all accounts... And America is not exactly a third world county...
-
The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Depends though, people might do as I suggested and just take up one of the American countries...
