  1. Can you send me a deployment, training and operational plan. AKA, where they land, what they have and what they are supposed to do. Preferably with a map. Also: Soliders cost 2000*prestige And Soliders recruited the same turn they are used as 50% less effective.
  2. Japan: Japan has recieved considerable praise for switching half of their power output to renewable energy, but has been lambasted for their pro-nuclear strategy, especially by domestic public opinion, and the government has been forced to backtrack even further than before, shutting down every Nuclear Power Station in Japan, the effect, along with teething troubles with the new Solar systems, have been rolling blackouts, which has crippled Japanese growth this year, and probably much of next year, reducing growth for the reset by 1%. Japan has also been critized for attacking Indonesia, by the world community. 'It is Japan's responsiblity to lead by example, not to scold countries that don't know any better'. In addition to this a set of four huge drydocks are under construction in Japan, the new super drydocks dwarf the previous record holder, America, by some 12%, increasing Japan's World Presence, while decreasing America's, both by 1. However, it has completely undermined Japan's arguements about Militarisation of Indonesia. Japanese Businesses have also begun setting up in Iceland, providing a much needed economic stimulus. Brazil: Building on the Amazon Project, Brazil made a powerful speech at an international press conference, causing many critics to change tack, saying that Brazil is so Green that it is Red, citing 'the spiraling tax rate, the declining growth rates and ignorance of basic economic truthes, prefering instead to read obscure studies to support barmy ideas' and urging Brazilians to vote the Government out at the next election. The entire affair has damaged Brazils World Presence, turning it into a laughing stock (-3 World Presence), but it has, at least, convinced some ecologists and biologists that the project might be worthwhile and they have begun coming to support the effort. Outside of this Brazil has begun recruiting a sizable army and naval fleet. Indonesia: Following the overt militarisation of Japan, Indonesia has recruited a sizable army and begun a sizable ship building effort, as well as calling for a global ban on nuclear weapons. Indonesian Spokesmen said 'We don't want war, but we must be ready to defend ourselves from...other powers...' Indonesia has also continued its vast Green Campaign, continuing the steady change over to Solar Power and reduction in carbon emissions. Japan had stood to gain some prestige from this, but their earlier attacks ensured that they gained nothing but lower carbon load. Further commitment has been shown by Indonesia by their cutting edge research into Green Industry, while not 'pulling a Brazil', as papers have dubbed it, and shooting Industry in the face to do it...Or pulling a China and bringing about civil war. Italy: A massive investment of 10 Billion into Project Green has sparked some resistance in the population, who don't want to recycle, or have paper napkins made out of baby's nappies, and have launched a number of protests, like tipping broken glass into paper recycling bins or simply flytipping. As such Carbon Offsetting was reduced to only 500 Carbon Units. A nominally sized army has been recruited. South Africa: (I was reading the speech aloud(Yeah, I am weird), came to the 'On a related note' and broke into laughter, sooooooo doesn't fit there... Anyway.) South Africa has called another meeting of the African Congress, though turn out was rather low. While many powers agreed in principle to the notion of defending one another, none were willing to put pen to paper and sign an agreement to that end. Quite simply they don't want to annoy Americans, Europeans and Asians. Germany: Has recruited a large army. Switzerland: Switzerland has begun purchasing a small portion of gold each year. China: Civil War continues, the Emperor has done nothing to stem the violence and now, with multiple countries getting involved, with various Warlords declaring independance, it looks as though China may be reduced to the Forbidden Palace alone. Factions are known as Wu, Min, Wuyue, Han, Chu, Jingnan, Emperor's China and the Republic of China. World Events: India and Russia have seized border territory from China, and Tibet has declared full independance, locked in a war with the various factions controlling their territory. Vietnam and Burma has intervened in Southern China to 'preserve' Communism. South Korea has launched a war against North Korea, and North Korea has hit back with a nuclear strike and counter-invasion, pushing south. There is growing pressure on all neighbouring nations of China to take what territory they can. So far there have been no battles which China was not a part of, however there is tension between Burma and Vietnam, Tibet and India and India and Burma. The following map is a best guess estimation, there are no offical lines of authority, and in some areas the absence of authority is the only thing that defines it. [hide] [/hide] Storms in the Black Forest (Germany) have been particularly intense this year.
  3. Yeah, I will put it down as a Fund, and you just say what you want and if there is a delivery time I will backtrack to here (unless you are fighting a war, obviously)
  4. I am kinda going with Rocco's point of view here. To use your analogy Mather: Its like saying that you get paid $40 to watch TV, and it costs $25 to have a TV. If you have 2 TVs, and you don't get any extra money for having 2 TVs, then you are making a net loss. Also, more convincingly:
  5. I will note it down. Mather, since someone (stork or spork) controls America, please negotiate with them for a price. Alternatively, you can produce them yourself, however that is a breech of copyright, and implies some form of espionage to obtain the blueprints. Or you need to conduct a research program to design a new class of whatever, and design it any way you choose. For reference: ----- Design Cost: 1-2 Billion Duration: 5-10 years. Effect: Allows construction of a new class of ------. Cheap option reduces combat effectiveness, Fast option reduces reliability.
  6. I have it down as this: Basic Army Training: Cost 1 Billion per Reset Counts as money spent towards Military. Improves Troop Quality. The reason I have it like this is that once you have set up a military school...do you really need to pay for people to attend it? You own the people, you own the school...You are paying money to yourself. Shall we say... 2,000*Prestige level is the cost to recruit a wo/man into the army. 20,000 for Indonesia 70,000 for Italy 126,000 for America If you have 0 Prestige then just 2,000.
  7. A cell is a place were prisoners live...Why do we put prisoner houses in childrens toys? A battery is a portable power source, and Navel is where your umbilical cord was connected...Why do people defend their coastline with umbilical cordless portable power sources? A plane is a surface containing all the straight lines that connect any two points on it...Why do people think they can fly to other countries with it? Things have more than one meaning... And meanings have more than one thing... Sorry, but you are like one of those people who read the Origin of Species, and then said 'Evolution is wrong because Monkeys should still be becoming Humans.' So now that you have read the dictionary and decided to judge the English Language based on it...Try another book...Let us know how you get on.
  8. Training, Drugs, and all the other work in the same way. First, you research whatever it is. Basic Training, Basic Drugs...whatever...doesn't need researching. Second you stock every cupboard with the drugs, and drill every solider with training. This costs a flat rate per reset, if you research something but don't want to stock/drill then you don't have to. Then, when you deploy troops, you can deploy them with whatever training and drugs you want, as long as you have paid for them that reset. [hide] It doesn't cost any extra or save any money if you saying 'I know I have paid for Drug X and Training B' but I don't want to use them for this specific engagement. However, it can be to your advantage to do so. For example, if you send a bunch of troops against the enemy with 0 training then you can...giving the impression that your forces are totally inept, drawing the enemy into another battle where you use everything to totally destroy them. Drugs can obviously be stolen as well. [/hide]
  9. It is from the Greek Autopsia, which means seeing with ones own eyes...which is accurate given that seeing internal organs of another human is rare. A Photography is bad English. Since Photography is: Photo = of, relating to, or produced by light Graphy = Writing or representation produced in a specified manner or by a specified process So the specific way of taking taking a representation of someone, produced by light. ...seems fairly accurate to me. Could be, doesn't have to be, and would be confusing, since -graph means: 1. Something written or drawn: monograph. 2. An instrument for writing, drawing, or recording: seismograph. And since Photographs were already used to describe photos.... Auto = Self Graph = Something written or drawn Defines autographs fairly well... Or a signer...Or an Autographist From the Latin textus, meaning Written Account From the latin auctor, which means Creator...which is reasonably accurate. Its not really 'bleeped up', it is just you haven't taken any time to study it in any great depth. Kinda like saying that Science doesn't make sense because you have never seen a lightbulb before.
  10. http://www.wikipedia.org/ ? Allows you to customise it to your desires, since a British aircraft carrier carries <20 aircraft, while an American Aircraft Carrier carries 100<. And a British Harrier is VTOL, while the F-whatever number it is now, isn't. Reminds me of this: http://i.imgur.com/qSl3C.png
  11. Cost: 1 Billion Duration: 1 Year Effect: Provides 10% of your overall power Reduces carbon emissions by 200. Can be repeated.
  12. Germany: "Von Stahl has kept last year's abysmal show of cultural taste fresh in our mind with his continual and incessant apologises, what might have once been assigned to the dust bin of history has become enshrined in the memories of Europeans everywhere." -The Times. Germany holds a European Conference, sporting an array of foods from across the European Continent. There had, at one point, been suggestion of Germany lacing the food with the drugs it had confiscated last year, an idea vigorously promoted by Britain, who boycotted the talks. The notion hung over the talks and lead to a virtual collapse when the agenda for the conference was published...Part 'Look at our amazing achievements' and part 'Why don't you deal with these problems for us', which was unfavourably spun as 'because they are beneath out worldly notice.' However the talks proceeded, largely thanks to the buffet lunch, entertainment and free bar offered. The German hosts abandoned all of the major issues the talks were meant to deal with, including a two day trip to see a soggy field where a hydroponic towers was going to be built in the future, allowing the conference to turn into a week long summit on Europe. The summit ended with new feelings of unity across Europe, mitigating some of Germany's earlier mistakes. An extensive revision of military policy has drawn considerable attention in Germany, given that they currently have no army. It has been suggested that the newly formed Nationale Sicherheit Dienst, or National Security Service, will form the new backbone of the armed forces, though the government has made no comment on this. Indonesia: An extensive reform program is in operation, with new public schools, mines, factories and solar energy fields being built and worked by the smiling faced workers of the camera reels. Indonesian Citizens were uninterested to find that Germany was holding 300 Million Dollars worth of drugs, though the Official Indonesian Facebook group has defriended Germany. Indonesia has been praised by social progressors across the world for their enlightened approach to public education and Industrial regulation, while condemned by all Greenpeace for increasing carbon emissions. Indonesia falls with Japan's 'Ecozone' and Japan is receiving a lot of flak for letting their zone's carbon load increase by 400, though Solar fields in Indonesia offset 200 of this. China: China has spent its full budget for the next seven years on improved its economy. This advanced stimulus package has increase the Chinese GDP to $5,747,669,641,275, an increase of approximately 2 Billion. Analysis say that an extremely large proportion of the money invested went into the pockets of corrupt officials, resulting in only a much smaller stimulus than would have otherwise been hoped for. In other news The Night of Anti-Corruption has occurred. The Emperor, in his enlightened wisdom, charged his top five officials to go out into China, seek out corruption wherever it lay, and destroy it. With over twenty million dead, rebellions across much of the country, as villages try to protect themselves from the kill squads...and the kill squads try to protect themselves against other kill squads... All five of the top officials have been killed by each other's kill squads, each of them suspected of corruption, along with a sizeable portion of China's Industrial and Economic Business Owners. Whether corruption has actually been purged is unknown, at the moment the whole country seems to be fighting for its life in the world's biggest game of 'Last Man Standing'. The only good news so far is that Carbon Load emissions have decreased considerably, by 50,000 Units. This is suspected to only be the tip of the iceberg, with millions dead, much land and factories destroyed, China could be looking at being the first major country to become a carbon sink. Swiss Satirist Newspapers have however taken a different view, that China may be the first major country to lose its major country status in the quest to reduce carbon emissions. The effect the war has had on GDP is not yet known. Similarly it is unknown at this point if national integrity will be maintained. Italy: Earlier this year Italy toyed with the idea of Biological Warfare, but later reconsidered. The effect of this has been fairly minor, since no documents were leaked.(Generally a better idea to PM me) (Viruses can be gened for specific purposes, or they can just be left as 'virus'. Viruses destroy GDP (Up to 30% in any one attack I believe) and can spread across boarders/continents.) Italy has also embarked on a 'Go Green' Policy, supported by the Mascot of Giuseppe the Green Pepper. So far there has not been much effect of the policy. Low government investment and very small incentives to reduce emissions have been cited as the reasons for this. That is not to say that there has been no progress, and carbon load has been reduced by 20. @Grim: It cost 1 Trillion to set up a Nuclear Weapons Bio-weapons Project, once set up they cost 1 Billion per Mega-tonne attribute you want added. Brazil: Brazil has embarked on a major afforestation program in the Amazon, which ingeniously pays for itself, or so it is hoped. For now, the Brazilian Government has invested 16 Billion into the project, paying for 1,050,000 People to plant trees and sustainably harvest fruit and wood from the Amazon. It has also been hoped that as many as 50,000 Ecologists and Biologists will turn up in this major effort to repair the damage done over the past 50 years. However, thus far, very few people have turned up, with the majority of them seeing this scheme as a band-aid trying to fix a broken leg, and that it will inevitably turn into another slash and burn, smash and grab scheme. This view, originally held only be the cynical, gained wide acceptance after Brazil published research papers for a new Heavy Duty Plastic, one which would 'in all likelihood' replace the sustainably harvested wood. Once people were set against the idea all sorts of 'evidence' emerged, such as a 500,000 Barrel purchase order by the Brazilian government for Oil from the Middle East, and several Petroleum companies leaked documents containing phrases such as 'Subsidy on Oil' and 'The Rain forest Project is my response to the Economic Recession'. While balanced newspapers, and Brazilian newspapers, tried to explain what was actually meant, the majority blew up a media storm, spreading the word wide and far that Brazil was Evil. Nationally the situation was far better, with Universities and Schools running sponsorship programs to help the workers, and some of the closer ones even are running semester long projects, taking care of parcels of land. Many other areas had set up projects, but found that the Highways and Rail Links were not very reliable thanks to a huge repair and expansion program financed by the Government. There has yet to be a sizeable increase in Ecological Degrees taken at Universities, but some Universities are offering incentives. And finally, in Brazil, the lighter side: The Brazilian government donated 58.6 Billion dollars to Amazonian Chiefs in the form of a novelty sized check. The Amazonian Chiefs, not being so worldly, tore up the check and held a parade, using the paper as confetti for the Brazilian representatives. When the representatives got back to their headquarters a panic message from Central Government said 'There has been a typo, you were meant to send the check to [redacted] not the Amazon!' Fortunately the check was destroyed, and no money was transferred, so has been a source of a great deal of humour in the Brazilian Government. Lithuania: ----------------------- Lithuania GDP: $35,734,000,000.00 Tax Rate: 5.00% IAD: $1,786,700,000.00 Growth Rate: 2.40% Prestige: 10 World Presence: 0 Technological Prowess: 2 Moral Standing: 4 Biological Impact: 4 Economic Mobility: 0 ----------------------- Budget is your IAD Retech: Still using the Tax system. It is simpler.
  13. Rocco, that was the intention: If you are paying troops minimal wage for your country then...
  14. Italy: ----------------------- Italy GDP: $2,036,687,000,000.00 Tax Rate: 5.00% IAD: $101,834,350,000.00 Growth Rate: 2.40% Prestige: 35 World Presence: 4 Technological Prowess: 8 Moral Standing: 14 Biological Impact: 9 Economic Mobility: 0 Carbon Load: 71,284 ----------------------- IAD is your budget.
  15. Population goes into mass decline, total loss of prestige...people ganging together and rebelling to prevent dying.
  16. It hasn't, I will sort these things about when I wake up.
  17. Rocco, I will deal with it later, I have it noted though. Nero, you can start down the path to unity, say 15 years... They are happy to form an alliance, trade routes...ect...but they don't want to sign over all their power to a super government just yet.
  18. Yeah...anything on the thread is stealth known by all the Player Governments of the world. Doesn't mean the common man in the street know.
  19. Hmmm, Ico and Rocco can you confirm real action?
  20. Any particular reason or just for the hell of it?
  21. No real effect. Yeah, unless you plan to sell the drugs you just get a load of drugs.
  22. Ok, it took me most of the night to work out a system...And then an hour and half...then another half after the program deleted, saved, deleted, saved as I progressed...Then an hour looking for a decent database program, abandoned that, went back to web editors...got annoyed, spent two hours watching TV while I downloaded a backup of my old editor(from Space), came back, spent an hour and finished. Upshot is now, rather than one cluttered txt document I have a shiny website(offline) with hyperlinks and everything so I can keep track far more easily than ever before. Anyway, I was told there was some confusion about the dates that this was starting. It started 14 hours ago. However, due to the confusion, if people want, I can extend the first day by 24 hours, so people have more time to work out their first moves. Report: Japan celebrates fertility better than in previous years, there is no major change this year. German Security Agents, while on high alert, apprehended several drug smugglers. Interrogation revealed a network of Drug Suppliers reaching back to Brazil, and arrests and seizure of over 300 Million Dollars worth of Illegal Drugs. The knock on effect has been to reduce Brazilian growth by 0.1%. The resulting embarrassment of the Brazilian Ambassador killed the already lame economic stimulus talks. Germany Leader, Frederik Von Stahl, took time out from his Presidential Tour to attend the London Conference for the Unity of Europe. Unfortunately, due to a poor choice of background, meant to symbolise the forging of a stronger Europe, set against the London Skyline...instead appeared to be London in flames. British Media was highly critical of this, and turned Von Stahl into the next Hitler in Cartoons, making some reference to the research agreements with Japan and the increased security. European press took a less extreme line, but were critical of Von Stahl for this media nightmare. [hide] [/hide] South Africans are adjusting well to the increased police force, partly due to all the dissenters getting arrested. People have become highly enthused at the prospect of getting the lazy prisoners back to work, and some of the more right wing newspapers have been calling for the government to implement a Trusty System, which would see Inmates take over the running of prisons, which is garnering some support with the population. Of course most of the rest of the world is appalled by the suggestion of murders walking around with rifles and maintaining discipline, especially in Northern Africa, which saw a new tyrant rising just as they were preparing to overthrow their own. However Southern Africans were willing to overlook this thanks to a visit from Van Zyl, Prime Minister of South Africa, who hosted the African Congress that year, making a powerful speech: [hide][/hide] In America the turmoil of recent years has finally come to a head, with the impeachment of Sarah Palin. The situation is very tense. Brazil is calling on a massive investment to...somewhere... which has baffled many world leaders, aside from Japan's, who has invested some 10 Billion. Or, more specifically, put a check for 10 Billion Dollars in the post with the address of 'Economic Stimulus Package, Japan'. It has since been lost. @Rocco: Game starts in 2010 because 2011 starts with Japan getting kicked in the face by a 40 foot wall of water. Aside from that GDP figures are mostly for 2010 still...and ultimately, we pay no real attention to the time line usually, so... I have done the rest of the stats I believe, if there is still a problem please tell me. Player map + Some Detritus I didn't edit out: [hide] [/hide] If anyone wants to make a better one feel free. Also, please, please, please, PM me about research, I won't be chasing people in this game. If you don't specify whether you want Cheap/Fast/Secret I will just assume none of the above. If you overspend then you will lose the money, and if you underspend then the project won't be completed till you make up the costs. If this happens a lot I will change to projects not getting started till you make up the costs for each year of research. Anyway, Germany research data: [hide] Research: Hydrogen Fuel Cells Cost: 2 Billion Paid: 160 Million Started: 15th Completed: 23rd Hydroponic Towers: Cost: 2 Billion Paid: 150 Million Started: 15th Completed: 18th Artificial Intelligence: Cost: 100 Trillion Paid: 150 Million Started: 15th Completed: 14th May Carbon Nanotubes Cost: 26 Billion Paid: 150 Million Started: 15th Completed: 14th April Smart Weapons Cost: 500 Million Paid: 150 Million Started: 15th Completed: 19th [/hide]
  23. Fate of the World I have dreams like that...its usually not a good sign.
  24. This is a real event, responses can be formed now or tomorrow. Not responding is not responding, you won't be penalized or rewarded, though bad/good stuff may still happen. Major Event I: Double Dip Recession Forecast 'While, for many, the economic hardship of the recent past seemed dead, buried and pushing up the dollar shaped daisies, it now may not to be so...' -Latest IMF (International Monetary Fund) Memo This event predicts that, at some point over the next seven years, there will be a fall in growth rates by up to 5%. Minor Events: The Moscow Subway has been shut down after a bomb was detonated at peak hours, so far no one has claimed responsibility. It is presumed some 300 people were injured in the blast. There is growing dissent in Libya, Morocco and Tunisia. A team of Freelance Think Tank in Japan have developed a new form of mining laser, while it is currently a blueprint they are sure it will work if someone will finance them.
  25. You were tied to a stake and placed .5 meters above sea level, and died ironically. And it sounded like the economic policy you would choose. And if only it were so simple...but even if you completely ignore the environment, your economy still collapses because you run out of resources, and wikileaks reports you if you exterminate all human life in the Middle East <_< If only Dubya was here, he would get the job done.
