  2. who knows.. though i am reminded of this joke: Is Windows a Virus? No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do: * They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that. * Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that. * Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too. * Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Sigh... Windows does that, too. * Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. Yup, that's with Windows, too. Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences:Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature. So Windows is not a virus. It's a bug.
  3. try installing the updated verson i had that problem b4 it stil happens now and then so i just reopen the windows or use notepad.also did everyone hear that one of the inventors of ie switched to firefox. I had alanis morresette "ironic" playing in the background when i read this.. is that not ironic? :) honestly firefox is more secure there holes are patched so quickly that viri writers can't keep up.....
  4. also remember the power supply is peak on what it lists (the peak is used to start the spinning of your HD's and the like) make sure you get one thats over rated.. IE if you think you need a CONSTANT power of say 350 (check your components to see how much power they need for constant use) get a 500 watt. Why get so much.. weardown. over time it might reduce the power it gives for whatever reason.. and you will eventually brown out :(
  5. 4 bit? you mean 8 bit? have you tried doing a driver rollback?
  6. Too little too late. I usually have 5 or 6 tabs open. Sometimes a lot more. again too little too late ms has always been playing catchup to other os's.. apple (taskbar and the like) IE is a catchup to netscape which rocked alot better then IE. and windows itself... which linux would be better if they came out with a unified structure (IE: one MAJOR KERNAL release every 2-3 years. and then updates as needed to fix bugs (no adding new features to consumer kernal) but the current kernals could be put out, just that softwear developers would be asked to keep there programs to a Common kernals api's) Consider this. if you run windows 2k or xp. your no longer running the original windows. they got rid of DOS and the DOS system all together.. they re-compiled in UNIX. which also.. is the basis for APPLE and LINUX.. so.. .UNIX is the dominant OS out there.. or at least the domoniat origin. IMHO though.. make linux with standard releases for consumers ever 2-3 years. copy settings from windows. increase wines ability to know windows api's.... and linux would rule the world
  7. Definitely not And you also have to remember that being open source it's codebase is under the scrutiny of *anyone* and the fact that millions of poeple got viruses because of ms making exploitable code... code that should have had more review but because a pencil pushers pushing for a release to increase microsofts 46 billion surplus has anything to do with it? hmmm open source = no profit. = respect and pride A little OT, but its always bugged me WHAT THE **** is your avatar!? A pumpkin with eyes? its a DRD from farscape

  11. well here is the thing 1. firefox is open source it will be updated quickly (mircosoft knew about the jpeg vunerability about 1-2 years before they patched it.) mozilla does lable things severe but they patch it before it goes wild. MS waits till its wild. 2. Over the years that MS has had IE how many security flaws have been found. 3. Because Firefox has no monitary benifit to the p[eople they do it because they want to get it right. they don't just ship something out.

i think moody looked stupid... i mena his face does not look squarish like its supposed to.. i mean come on.. a metal RING AROUND IT!!!!! that just means they were too lazy... come on out of all the CGI here you can't make a fake eye? and the face has to look like its a box sorta.. and the nose has to be missing alot on the tip (if i remember right) but the other people... it is NEVER stated that they are ALL Veelas. Just the competetor. Also Voldy oculd be the BABY one.. that we saw a ppic of for a second... I don't like how the producer and Director has done the last one and i fear this one you have a SET STAGE to work with.. hagrids cabin is next to the forrest on a FLAT FIELD. The lake is not just a few feet wide. (in the last movie they made it to be about 40 feet wide.. and the reason i say its wrong is that it does not look like its a small cove or something.... so therefore... they made a mistake there) The platforms are WRONG in the book it CLEARELY states the head merman came to the SHORE... so therefore there are no platforms. they if i remember said something about the stands? (may be wrong) being moved for the dragon preformance (from the quidditch cup field) thats my .90 cents
  15. have you tried going into safe mode? and running msconfig (from xp) and stopping just about everything from loading.. then only enabling what you want to load?
