  1. Occasional? XD I was just about to say Cent, actually. Not only is he a solid guy and always there for me, but we have a lot of fun when we aren't throwing things at each other; sometimes even when we are throwing things at each other. I don't even know where to start really. Cent is pretty much one of the best people I know. It's in the start we weren't very close, but over the years as other friends have drifted away we've stuck together and now he's one of my best friends EVAAAAAR. No joke. On RS, we go fishing together, we go mole slaying together, we do barrows together, we go randomly wandering around together, but the thing is even when we aren't doing stuff together we still have a blast. And Cent is always there to lend a hand; if I need to collect up some stuff, often he'll either come with me or just show up one day with the stuff. I try to do the same thing, but I'm not very good at it; he doesn't mind, he's just happy to help. He can be cranky, and stubborn (just like me haha XD), but he's a great guy and a lot of fun to be around. I'm really glad he's my friend, I'm really glad he put up with all of my eccentricities and stuck it out, even though I'm not a particularly thoughtful person, often moody, and have a propensity towards making fun of him. (It's all love, every single lump, I swear. XP)
  2. The fact that anyone could mistake the difference between the value assigned to real world objects, effort and achievement, and Runescape pixels and time spent on things is not entirely unbelievable, but still very disturbing. Money isn't everything, but when you don't have it you realize just what the term financial security really means; nothing in Runescape can compare to financial security. Now, I can understand that people whose family has never had a time when money was tight and it was a choice between eating at all and not can mistake the true value of money. But the schism between the two is ridiculously large. Money aside, I have a hard time believing that a teenager has never in their life worked towards any sort of goal or felt any sort of achievement. I'm not talking about a genius with an eidetic memory who barely needs five minutes to study for a test and ace it getting a scholastic award kind of achievement, I mean like catching your first fish ever or the first time you rode a bike on your own. Even though you know many people have done it before and very few people can't do it at all, you feel a sense of achievement because you know you've learned a new skill. Nothing in Runescape compares to that. Nothing in Runescape ever will. Does it suck to lose an item or a ton of money? Yes. Does it suck as much as losing real money, is the achievement it represent equal to an achievement in real life? No. You lose money in Runescape, it's sad for a minute and then you move on because it's really not worth fretting over. You lose hundreds of dollars and you lose sleep. It's not just a question of eating rice and soy sauce for a week or two (which, is not fun in the slightest), it's not having money to go places with your friends, not having money to go to the art gallery or the movie theatre, it's a loss of freedom that you earned; or worse, it's the rent money you needed.
  3. I go for experience above potential profit, especially since I collect a lot of the items I need to level myself; I don't feel bad about burning yew logs rather than selling them, I got them for free, only spending my own time to collect them. Potential profit is only a potential, one choice out of many. I have a couple of skills that can earn me a fair bit of money, I mean, I've been able to mine rune since shortly after the rune rocks were released; there was a time I could easily get 30+k per ore and made a lot of money from it. Money is fleeting though, skills are forever. I play RS for fun, I'd rather not feel like it's my sole purpose to earn money. MTK earns me a good bit of profit each week while fueling my farming level completely for free, anything I earn above and beyond that doing slayer assignments is just icing on the cake. That being said, I do try to minimize costs while levelling. I don't consider any items I have gained myself that are used in levelling to be a cost; like prayer pots, I make all my own prayer pots with ranarr weeds I've collected myself for free, and snape grass I've collected myself for free, even my vials I collect for free. Food isn't a cost either, I fish all my own food and have a nice stockpile built up. I do level things like magic by high alching (where the cost of the runes is covered by the gp gained through doing the spell, a profit on top of that never hurts, and I buy my nature runes from magic shops to keep the average cost per rune decidedly below average) or doing barrows with slayer dart which generally covers all the runes used. I'm big on self sufficiency, I could make a lot of gold on RS if I wanted to, it's just not one of my interests. I do like my shiny pile though, so I try to save as much as possible. There are skills you can always use to get more gold, and even if you lose every item and piece of gold in your bank, you'll always have those skills to fall back on. Which is why I value raising them over profit any day.
  4. Abyss pking have you ever... N/A I don't RC or PK ever. I only ever enter the abyss for quests. Normal Pking/death matches have you ever... N/A Again, I don't PK ever. It's just not my thing. Basic Runescape Principles have you ever... 1. Tell people that you would return items you find in a death pile if you saw the person die, but when the time came, you kept them?[ ] No, I wouldn't lie about keeping their items. And if it was a friend, I'd return them. I'm not nice, it affords me the luxury of not having to pretend to be. Or if the above never happened, were you lying when you said you'd return them?[ ] 2. Do you complain about autoers and say they need to go, but you buy supplies from them anyway because it's cheaper and faster? [x] I've never knowingly bought items from autoers, I don't often buy items for levelling period, but I suppose it's a bit inevitable that I've gotten some of the items autoers dump into the market at some point. If I knew the items were from autoers would I still buy them? To be honest, I'm not sure, I've never been faced with the situation. 3. yelled and reported a scammer, but got curious to see if it'd work? [ ] No, scamming is stealing, and I have strong feelings about stealing. Lying have you ever... 1. Told someone your friends list was full when it really wasn't? [x] Yes. Usually I just tell people I have trouble keeping up with the friends I already have as it is, but when I don't want to have to go into a long drawn out explanation or answer a lot of questions I just give them the short, easy lie. 2. Told someone you were signing off, but you really put private on "off" and kept playing? [x] Guilty as charged. I have done it in the past, and will most likely do it in the future. I only do it when I'm feeling horrendously antisocial and don't want hurt feelings or step on toes. I don't really feel guilty about it. 3. Lied about your gender to get free items[ ] (please say no...) No, definitely not. I'm female with a female character, and I don't want free items. People who do this sort of thing infuriate me to no end. It used to be a lot worse, but it definitely made it more frustrating for actual females playing with female characters as it increased harrassment. Blarg. Friends these questions are to be answered if it was a very close friend asking you for the following, or you helping a friend have you ever... 1. Been asked by a friend to Pilejump a deathmatch if he lost, which he did, and you did, even though you claimed to be against it.[ ] No, any friends of mine that do PK or what have you don't discuss it with me. You couldn't pay me enough to hang out in Wildy for any length of time unless I'm questing, doing a TT or fighting monsters. White dots in Wildy make me anxious and nervous, two feelings I tend to avoid. 2. Asked to borrow a friend's expensive item to try on, but secretly you felt like stealing it?[ ] No, like I said, I have strong feelings about stealing. Do I think having an item might be cool? Sure, but the thought of stealing it never enters my mind. If yes, did you actually take it?[ ] (anything counts, from 10 gp to a party hat) 3. Killed a boss monster (Kq, KBD, etc) with a friend and lied about the drop so you could get all the money?[ ] No, again, it's stealing and it's a friend. Loyalty is one of my few strong points. 4. Thought about killing a friend in wild to get his items?[ ] No, I can earn my own items and not hurt friends in the process. 5. removed a friend in game by telling him/her you'd "be back later"[ ] No.
  5. There's always going to be people who say they did things the hard, and some how that is more noble than any other way. It's stupid. A lot of people say it's easier, but really it's a case of apples and oranges; who cares which way is 'easier'? Some people like apples, some people like oranges, and some people like both. Harping on PC because it's tarnished the glory of melee training or some garbage like that is like harping on an apple because it's an apple; it's always going to be an apple, it's not going to change, so it's a huge waste of energy. As far as skill capes go, well, people are always going to assume the worst of yours. Someone out there isn't going to respect what it represents to you. Who cares? Let them live with that. You know what it means, what it took, and at the end of the day that's all that really matters. Life is too short to worry about that sort of thing.
  6. Ring of Charos for me, not for any particular reason aside from the fact that I always wear it. Barrows doesn't scare me, I don't know why, probably because it's dangerous enough that I always completely focus on what is happening in the game while I'm doing it. If I don't think I have enough food or prayer pot doses to finish things, I don't hesitate to tele out, so I mostly feel pretty safe; I've done enough runs that I know what I'm doing too, so I feel confident in my abilities. I use a pretty straightforward method; less risk, more cost, but since I fish/cook all my food and make all my own prayer pots I don't count it as cost.
  7. You have some serious problems with anatomy going on. I'm not sure if you're interested in fixing them before you continue you on, but I'm just going to give you a couple of pointers just in case. 1. The shoulders: The reason why the torso seems too long is not because the top of the pelvis and belly button are too low, but the shoulders are too high. The neck isn't long enough. If you move the shoulders down a little, move the breasts down slightly, and elongate the neck it will fix the torso length as well as the upper arm length; which is also much to long at the moment and fix some of the problem with the shoulder joints/pecs position. The muscles in the pecs actually wrap around the shoulder joint, right not the shoulders are so high they kind of float. Aside from the positioning of them, the shape of them is wrong. Her left arm and shoulder in particular, it looks like the shoulder joint is completely dislocated. 2. The legs: The top and bottom of the pelvis are in the correct place, but the legs are too short. In general, people are 7 and 1/2 heads tall; some people aren't quite proportioned the same way the majority of people are, but they usually don't stray far from that. Your character is just under 7 heads tall, and all of that missing height is cut out of the legs. The thighs are always long enough, generally the knee falls between the fifth head and sixth, right now her knees are at exactly five heads so they could do to be dropped a little further down. The shins need a lot more length to them, it's especially noticeable when the shins are too short because they are what give the illusion of height and keep everything looking right. I know why you shortened them, you ran out of space on the page, but it's really, really noticeable. 3. Other Things: -The wrists need to be higher, and the hands larger. Hands, if you line up the base of the palm with the bottom of the chin should cover the face with the tips of your fingers reaching your hair line (unless it's receding :P). I have really small hands, and even mine almost reach. -The feet need to be bigger. From heel to toe is about the same length as your forearm; I'm not joking, try it out. Again, I have small feet for my height, but even mine are close to that size. -The joints in the arms are a little odd, I would suggest looking at some pictures of arms and keeping in mind the elbow and the muscles. Remember, overlapping lines suggests that the thing overlapping is closer to the foreground compared to the thing behind it. I know, it seems like a lot. Having proper proportions, before you know enough about proportions to comfortably manipulate them, is a solid base for any drawing. After you have the proportions sorted out, it not only makes clothes easier to draw, but makes them look better. Anyhow, you can keep and discard whatever you want from this, it's entirely up to you.
  8. I like being good, but not at the expense of fun. I'm stubborn, so I'm willing to pour extra time into doing things my way. I collect up all the herbs I use to level herblore, and all the secondary ingredients. I haven't spent a single gold on the road to 70 prayer (though there were more than a few chicken massacres XD). I used to cut a load of yews and burn them in front of all the dedicated wcers trying to earn some cash (I found it incredibly amusing); I still find it pretty amusing, but I like burning pyres now because I can train a myriad of skills while making a bit of money. I have to admit, I do like piles of money. Which is why I love MTK so much, I do basically nothing and make piles of money, freeing up my time to do other things. And let's be practical here, if I find a skill to be devastatingly boring I'm going to try and raise it the most efficient way possible without spending tons of money; I'm a bit of a miser, so I really dislike spending money on skills, or anything really, I like my piles. :P I don't think that ruins the game, or the mystique of the game. I think what ruins the game is when people forget how to have fun. When it becomes just about the next level or the next million gold, that's what kills it; if people genuinely having fun skilling constantly or merchanting constantly, more power to 'em. I know I don't. I pretty sure there are a lot of people who don't. It's something people have to figure out for themselves though. The reason why Runescape has been so successful and has endured so long is that it offers a lot of different experiences; there are a lot of different things to do, alone and with friends. It's really up to each person to decide how they want to play the game, what makes it fun for them.
  9. I love doing quests, even when they're annoying; I like having my quest list lit up with green, and every so often there's a quest with something that makes me laugh or enriches my vision of the RS world. So I train everything, even the skills I have an extreme dislike of (well, except RC, I let TOG take care of that one XD). I like flitting from skill to skill, mixing things up with a little combat is nice; especially when I'm training slayer at the same time, since it's easy to chat with friends (unlike the mad rush of PC). I like having the freedom to just go and do whatever strikes my fancy at the moment, and raising my combat and skills allows me to do so. Anyway, every so often I find a skill I didn't like starts becoming fun when I reach a certain level, or if I train it with friends. You never know when you'll be pleasantly surprised.
  10. I train my stats up because I have goals; those goals are motivated by the thought of improving my character and that future quest requirements might need a level I haven't reached yet (and I like to do quests the first day they come out). I'm not really motivated by others think, although I must admit I've had moments where I wanted to show off a little, or have been tempted to. The vast majority of the time on most subjects and angles I just don't care. I play RS to have fun, worrying about what other people are thinking is not my idea of fun.
  11. First of all, please excuse the lack of apostrophes; the key is broken on my keyboard. XD Im rather lazy when it comes to working on skills, so I only have one 99, and thats cooking. Ironically, out of all the fish I needed to get 99 cooking, I bought only 24k lobsters (which is a decent amount, but I probably ended up fishing more than 20k each of monks and sharks, who knows how many of my own lobsters, and before fishing cooked a decent amount of other things), although a friend of mine was very generous in letting me cook his monks and sharks for him (we would fish together, which makes fishing almost bearable XD). So I do feel some sense of accomplishment from it. To finally get around to the actual topic, I didnt get 99 cooking for the cape. The cooking cape has got to be one of the ugliest capes Ive ever seen. Oh, I bought one when I finished, but I never wear it unless Im working on my combat. My quest cape is way prettier, and my legends cape has it beat by a mile. Heck, even the black cape I got from a highwayman is nicer. I got 99 cooking because Ive been playing RS for quite some time and I figured I should get around to getting a 99; it was almost embarrassing not having one. XD
  12. Personally, I think when you are smarter, stronger and such than other people you have a responsibility. Using any skills you have for personal gain is fine, but you should not step all over other people in the process. Scamming is not only stepping on people, it is rubbing your shoe in the pavement afterwards for good measure. Yeah, maybe the fault lies with the person who fell for it, but what kind of person takes advantage of that? Anyone can scam the greedy, the trusting, and the naive, it takes more respect for yourself as a person to choose to work towards goals and earning things. It sours the game for everyone, not just the person who lost out.
  13. You have to do them in order. No, you don't. I started doing the mid level ones in random order and they still get crossed off; I haven't done a single easy level achievement.
  14. Boot in the Dwarven Mines, he's totally boss. And his name matches with mine (though he came later than I did :P). :D
  15. Well, I actually like to do a quick quest before I start work. I've always been an avid quester, so I appreciate even a quick jaunt. Still, it would be nice to see quests with more atmosphere; it's not about the difficulty or the reward, but the general enjoyment and emmersion of a quest. The lastest addition to the Myreque quests is a good example of atmosphere, the quest itself is a bit annoying, but I thoroughly enjoyed it anyhow because of how interesting the surroundings were; I can't speak for everyone, but a lot of people I talked to thought along the same lines. I also liked the penguin quest for the same reason, it was an interesting concept and well executed so I actually didn't mind running around quite so much; although Jagex was thoughtful enough to make some of the transportation easier during that quest. A bit more atmosphere would make quests more appealing to everyone, despite lower level difficulties and rewards. Jagex has been taking some steps in the right direction recently, adding improvements to the game in general and not just content. I'm optimistic about where things are headed, and I'm looking forward to see what comes next.
