Abortion what do you think of it?
[hide=some points from blue] [/hide] I'll start at the top with I'm pro-choice. CHAUCER even wrote that a woman wanted to choose what happened in their own lives, back before 1400! Everything Blue said regarding medical effects is 100% correct. There's some things in addition: gestational diabetes, LEACHING calcium from the mother's bones, permanent bladder control problems, permanent effects on your teeth, your feet, your immune system (I know a woman who became allergic to every known antibiotic, so that the next infection she got might kill her), and even your brain (post-partum depression can lead to major depression, which affects the rest of the mother's life.) Regarding having sex - why are we only yelling about girls doing it? Why aren't we blaming the boys who consistently pursue it, getting a girl to "give in", blah blah blah? The fact is that our society (and I mean specifically television and movies - I'm not a freak about them but believe me this has CHANGED) has made sex a "common" thing rather than a "postpone it" thing. As a kid I just didn't SEE women having sex all the time. And today's movies show plenty of sex, but STILL don't show people using birth control, due to fear of the "birth begins at conception" protesters. SOME girls with low self-esteem use sex as a way to get attention, to "make" a boy love them. >.< It's incredibly sad, and doomed to failure, but it's true. Of course, it ends up *decreasing* their self-esteem. They are not respecting themselves, so no one else will respect them either. Frighteningly, girls are maturing earlier and earlier. A hundred years ago, a girl began menstruating at 17-18. In the 1970's, 12- 14. Now we have NINE YEAR OLDS that are fertile, ffs!! I've no idea what's causing this - hormones in our milk? I'm not an organic freak, but we need to figure out WHY this is happening. And we dress our girls, even small children, like hookers and think it's "cute". Regarding abortion. Again let me state clearly that I am pro-choice. Nobody knows what a woman's life is really like, except her. When it officially became legal (Supreme Court, Roe v. Wade, 1972 or thereabouts?), I have to say that I think too many women chose it. It seemed like a simple and intellectual alternative. Most of those women have come to regret it later in life, with horrible burdens of guilt. But back then, the stigma of an unmarried mother was a SERIOUS thing. She was kicked out of school and hidden away by her family, sometimes sent out of town to a relative. Today, we are far more tolerant of teenage girls carrying to term. "At least she didn't have an abortion." Girlfriends have always felt the need to try to "talk her out of it" if a girl says she will abort. I do not know what the numbers or percentages of abortions are not ... but I know that the STIGMA is not as widespread. Regarding adoption, that doesn't always work out well. Think about it - not all girls giving up babies are white girls coming from a "good home" that simply made a mistake. A lot of them come from poor homes, with inherited but invisible tendencies toward alcholism, drug abuse, and mental illness, as well as the accompanying brain development illnesses that ride on the same genes. Not to mention minority infants who are very difficult to place. The conflict in the home of ANY troubled/addicted teenager is PURE HELL, and the children and parents often hate each other during that time - but it can be worse when complicated by the "you're not my mom" and "oh my god my own child couldn't have been this way." Birth mothers using cocaine or other drugs make things a thousand times worse - the permanent damage to the child's nervous system just doesn't show right away. Imagine an adopted child that screams 24 hours a day, that can't bear to be touched, that has dozens of permanent brain problems. Yeah, I've seen it. Viable fetuses - also a tough one. Due to pregnancy problems, babies are being delivered earlier and earlier. Little tiny 1.0 to 1.5 pound babies with unfinished lungs and other problems. Although we are now able to save these children, many of them will have epilepsy, permanent brain damage, crippling, and other issues that will seriously affect their quality of life. I'm not saying we should kill these children - I'm just saying it's something to think about. I reluctantly admit that we might need to look harder at guidelines for what term abortions should go up to. Now that fetuses ARE viable in the 2nd term (that's 3-6 months along) rather than the third (6-9 months), it seems a fact that the mother should consider. Perhaps development info SHOULD be presented so that girls know, and right-to-lifers are already doing this. At my Very Much Desired son's 9 or 11 week ultrasound - his heart was already beating. :o I had no idea that would happen so soon. I don't know what the abortion time limit is now - but back in the day they would not perform an abortion until the pregnancy was 6 weeks along (no idea why). Which gives a tight window depending on how far along you choose to define a life vs. a parasite. Finally - you guys probably know that some states are beginning to seriously legislate against abortion. It alarms pro-choicers because ... if you give them an inch, they take a yard. Roe v. Wade went to the Supreme Court and applied to ALL states. What will happen from state to state ... is worrying.

"Feminism"
John Malloy's "Dress For Success" book (based on SERIOUSLY, AMAZINGLY heavy research) back in 1975 showed that an applicant is more likely to get hired if s/he is dressed to look like the people who work there. Even he acknowledged what a horrible thing this was for women and minorities - it's awfully hard to "look the part" if all the current employees are white males. [hide=for guys feeling the pain of reverse discrimination]By the way guys, if you think that as a young man you aren't getting all the money and position benefits of being a rich white male, or are being shafted by affirmative action, be aware of the small things. Once you get out of your teens, if you are at a store counter you will get waited on before a woman or a minority. In a work group, your ideas will carry more weight and you will speak first. There are dozens of 'benefits' you will receive every day without knowing it.[/hide] Ideally, no one wants standards to be lowered in order to admit females and minorities (for the record, females outnumber males, ~ 51% to 49%, because there are more male-inherited diseases, and because childbirth dangers have been reduced). Hiring someone substandard guarantees failure, which only serves to "prove" the stereotype. But, females shouldn't have to be superwomen. Bella Abzug said it comically, back in the 70's: "Feminism has made enough progress that a highly qualified woman can get hired and get ahead. But we also want a woman schlemiel to get hired and paid the same as a male schlemiel." That has always cracked me up, but it stands. If it wasn't for the required public lists showing the salary for each position, at least in government and contractor jobs, we'd still be getting the shaft. The "glass ceiling" is very much in place - management and CEO positions are rarely held by women. Look at Congress. Bleah. Regarding technical qualifications - girls actually get BETTER grades than boys, right up to puberty. It's been proven that iron levels affect the brain's ability to do math. Although the amount of iron lost due to menses was believed to be insignificant, they now suspect it *may* play a factor in the "girls can't do math" stereotype. Regarding the femininity of ignorance, I saw a sign on someone's desk. "I used to pretend to be stupid so that guys would be interested in me. Then I noticed that the guys who were interested in me were stupid." I've learned over the years that the best way to find compatibility regarding women working is to look at a fellow's mother. If she was a homemaker, he tends to *unconsciously* expect his wife to be a homemaker, despite protests to the contrary. [hide=unconscious marriage role expectations] (My ex-husband's attitude turned out to be that I *could* work - as long as it didn't interfere with my regular chores, lol. My *best* relationships were with guys whose mothers worked - they simply expected it and it just wasn't a problem. My mother's mother was a homemaker and normally "had a woman in" once a week to help with the "heavy chores" like hanging out sheets and such. My father's mother worked 16 hours a day her entire life, first as a live-in maid and then started a business that supported the entire family for decades. My parents were constantly in conflict about a woman's role.) [/hide] At another time (or in another long-winded post, lol), we can go into why homemaking became a straitjacket for women in the 50's. I like 1_man_army's phrase "equalism" and I'm going to spread that one around, lol. I also like the "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people." You guys are awesome.

Don't want to derail this conversation, but some minor confusion about the TzTok-Jad assignment continues. For example: What if you can't kill him, lol? What if you crap out halfway through the task, is it ok to just kill regular TzHaars? Could I walk into the Fight Caves and just kill up until I die, then respawn and do the same thing until I'm done? If anyone has gotten an assignment today, can you please post screenies of what Kuradal says to you at EACH STEP of the assigning dialogue? That would be SOOOO great! (p.s.: don't bother to speculate about the aspects of failing - we can only take info from people who ACTUALLY failed in the game. Thanks.)

fercious ring:
thanks for the info, you will be credited. for reference, a pic in the bank is preferred because it's easier for us to fix up. If you can take a pic of the examine that is also best, so we can get the precise capitalisation and punctuation. However, we are very appreciative of you contribution and as stated, you will receive credit. Thanks!

MAP: All World Map Feedback here
Crewbie Rien_Adelric visited the church and verified this: "The church is in 38 wildy - the multizone extends only a couple paces to the east and south, but all the way to level 39 to the north. "

Thanks guys, I've noted your useful information in the Website Updates and Corrections release topic, http://forum.tip.it/topic/252590-update-08-dec-2009-kuradals-dungeon/ and you should be credited when our updates are made.- Contributions Welcome! 08-Dec-2009 - Kuradal's Dungeon
This topic has been created for users to contribute information that is NOT already included in the jagex Knowledge Base (KB) or in the announcement or patch notes. Good info from the General discussion topic is welcome here (even quoting someone else's post is helpful to us). However, please do not post any sort of chat/discussion.- Fairy Ring Code is missing
The new fairy ring code is B J Q, and was already added to the Fairy Ring Map http://tip.it/runescape/?page=fairy_ring_map.htm as well as the Getting Around Guide. Thanks for wanting to help.- How to get custom rank?
We'd much prefer that you do research in-game and supply missing data, rather than "finding fault". Our biggest need is more people checking on things when they are in the game. And those folks who do, especially when providing proof pictures, will always get site credit. <3: Many experienced players hang out in Help and Advice. I encourage to visit the Website Updates and Corrections Forum and contribute your own research (not commentary or advice, of course). It's the best way to get the Crew to notice you.- Shahdie Gives Back: Membership :o - OVER
- Access to the curse
Thanks for your contribution. Unfortunately, the crew generally writes the complete quest guide on the first day, and then spends some time polishing it and checking everything before it can be released. A walk through such as yours could be posted in the General Discussion topic about the release. It would assist other players as they work through the quest. We appreciate your effort!- Temple at Senntitsen Guide
Thank you so much for your guide, it looks really thorough. Unfortunately, the Tip.It Crew was also writing a guide at the same time. Our guide has been released, but if something needs checking we will compare it to your guide and credit you. We are always swamped on a release day, and can't always keep up with even the sole General Discussion topic, let alone monitor other forums. What we would be most grateful for on release days is your in game research results while we are writing the guide: collecting database information (monsters, items, shops) and answering the questions that continually arise and can only be resolved by in game testing. If you can hop into the game and pm a crewbie on the next release day, we'd love to have your assistance and credit you on the website. I can see that you have extensive writing skills and they can be put to good use. I hope this doesn't discourage you and that we hear from you again.- Keys WANTED!!
