  1. Conklin was a good backup for us last year. Somebody was bound to make a go at him. Hossa left for not much money than what he would've gotten to stay in Pittsburgh. Thought he had a better chance to win the cup with Detroit... it's not THAT much better of a chance... it's tough to repeat. I believe the Penguins got Detroit on the schedule twice this year though, should be interesting...
  2. Hossa is a snake and I hope Detroit misses the playoffs. ...that being said it's very possible they will repeat, and i'll throw up if they do  Just don't know if my Penguins are as good as they were last year... they still got their core, but they looked kinda so-so this weekend in Sweden (1-1 in 2 games vs. Ottawa). Not to mention Gonchar and Ryan Whitney, two of their better d-men are out.
  3. Just get rid of him. The other guy who came on at the end wasn't that bad. He's so full of himself at the moment, he runs practically every time. -.- Because the Eagles were playing prevent at the end... Leftwich throws too hard, and is not near as good as Ben. Ben is one of the top QB's in the league right now, and sunday night @ Jacksonville he showed off why. As long as Ben can complete those little dinks and dunks and avoid stupid decisions (with the o-line holding up their end of the bargain ...they have been reason for concern) he's good. Got the bye week to rest up then @ Cincinnati.
  4. Okay, that's true, but having perfect form (which is very important, not only to reap maximum benefits, but to avoid injury) for squats/deadlifts and so on takes time and sometimes help (from someone more experienced/a trainer) to nail down. 3,000-4,000 is the standard for bulking. You're bound to put on at least some fat when trying to "gain weight", it's not gonna be alll muscle. If you just wanna stay in shape, or you're not looking to grow a whole lot bigger, less would be preferred. 6,000? I'd like to know what that routine is all about  "really" in the sense of doubt? Or "really" in the sense of "very much so"? :? It's a tough program though, especially now since i'm squatting over my bodyweight.
  5. Bullcrap. Straight up bullcrap. Like assassin said, if you only allow visible muscle growth to be your motivation I'd find it a hard to believe that even half of you would get past the "beginner" stage. Insta-results just don't happen, you have to be patient and focused on more important things than your appearance, like your health. Why do you think it's impossible? I mean, for a beginner, yes, probably.. because you're factoring in knowledge of form (we're not talking bicep curls and pushups, we're talking squats, deadlifts, bench presses, overhead presses, power cleans, increasing the weight a little bit every week) and nutrition (not only should you be eating around 3000-4000 calories per day, but it has to be all quality calories). What i'm saying is I believe Rippetoe, if you know what you're doing (which is why I said this guy coaches these kids that can make solid gains) I think it could be done. But hey, i'm just starting with this, and I try my hardest. I understand what you're saying in terms of not seeing insta-results, not expecting them, but what i'm saying above is with strength training, i've researched it a lot, and it definetely seems like good gains are possible.
  6. Forget bicep curls and other isolation exercises. Check out this program. All it takes is 3 days a week, an hour each workout. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=712752 Strength coach Mark Rippetoe has been known to put (on average) 30-40 lbs. on beginners in 6 months with this program and clean nutrition. Of course, he's coaching them, so don't be disappointed if you don't experience those types of gains. But if strength training's not for you... then okay. Just my 2 cents, as i'm a beginner and i've been working with this program recently and I like it. As a beginner, maintaining proper form is where it gets difficult, I still am not overly confident in my form. Can always have someone critique your form though.
  7. I'm at the stage where I don't look forward to it... but when you're there, and afterwards especially, it feels great.
  8. My school blocked wikipedia. IMO, that's just ridiculous.
  9. If all girls looked for was someone with a big chest we'd all be screwed XD. Sorry. It was open. If that was the case, Rare wouldn't have any motivation to work out anymore.
  10. Rarex, you can't seem to go one post without mentioning girls... and it seems like you think that every single good looking girl wants a man with a sixpack and a big chest, and won't settle for anything less.. not quite the case :wall: I agree with Reb, having the gym to myself every time I go to work out would be amazing... never really the case, though the entire weight area can get pretty bare on weekends.
  11. Just whatever you find more comfortable. At my gym there's a black padded thing that you can put round the bar so it's not as uncomfortable, but it's not always available. As long as it's not on your neck you should be okay, I find my lower traps slightly fleshier and so a bit more comfortable but you'll soon find where you want it. A lot of lifters say the foam pad is for sissies. I think it's best to get used to a naked bar because it's better to have that weight real close to your body so you can feel it, and know you're ready for it. As you mentioned earlier about people doing half squats, I agree. I saw some kid today (who is kinda big) load up 180 lbs. on the bar (making it about 220 total, a moderately heavy weight, especially for an initial set...) then proceed to doing awful looking half-squats. In fact, not even half, less than half. Looked pretty bad :-# Squat form is tough... if anyone wants to try squats out, I suggest researching articles/vids and try to execute like they tell you to. Having someone who is experienced at the gym help you out would be better...
  12. My goal is to gain weight. I don't mind if I end up putting on a small amount of fat (thats pretty inevitable if I want to gain weight anyway). It's suggested to avoid milk if you're looking to lose weight however.
  13. Come on :P You don't know how to get calcium? Got milk? Speaking of milk, I remember reading about a very quick muscle building routine involving drinking a lot of milk and a 3 day/week workout involving 1 set of 20 rep squats (which are very difficult...) Here's a variation http://www.leehayward.com/squats.htm The old schoolers would drink a gallon of milk per day
  14. Nutrition's tough. I often try to eat moderately healthy, in the mornings ill have eggs or oatmeal with a banana, yogurt (though i should start eating more plain yogurt). Lunch i'll eat a peanut butter sandwich with the Smuckers natural peanut butter or a tuna/cheese sandwich with more fruit or yogurt. Dinner is basically what my family is eating... it's not always healthy, but not terrible. Dinner's usually got a good amount of protein and calories (though not the best calories probably). Ill also try to sneak in a protein filled snack after dinner too about 2 hours before bed (cottage cheese, not the best tasting, but a healthy snack). A glass of milk with every meal, and I usually try to drink 5/6 servings of milk per day. I'm also getting into drinking [whey] protein shakes after working out. I bought ON Optimum Nutrition Whey and it tastes very good believe it or not (chocolate flavor, mixed with milk/plain yogurt). They say to eat 6 small meals a day, but really, who does this? It's tough especially with everyone's busy lives. I don't think there's many teens that follow perfect nutrition. I read that getting enough sleep/rest is very important as well.
  15. My Steelers could be great this season. Should win AFC North, but they got the toughest schedule in the NFL, and they started off against a moderately weak opponent at home, so it'll be interesting to see how they fair...
  16. 1594/89= 17.9 Wow, 1 summoning too... Im big on skilling and want a high total level for my combat, but I plan on getting my combat up to the 100's after I get 1600 total level.
  17. Yeah i'm gonna go with the other posts which I pretty much expected. I mean i'm sure most of them are nice people but I know none of them personally... Noone really "idolizes" a person on a game, but it's more of a "those people are insane" (or something like that) reaction.
  18. Eh it is what you make of it. Training combat/basic skills and most quests/minigames are fairly easy. On the other hand some skills, quests, and minigames can be pretty hard, unless you know what you're doing.
  19. Waterfall, perhaps?
  20. 1 and 2 are great as well  The original crash also holds a place in my heart I first played it when I was 5 and i've replayed it about 50 times.
  21. UNITED STATES 0.45 I guess that's it...? My forename is the 3rd most common forename for my surname. It's not even a common first name either. Also of note the top regions for my surname are Alaska (idk), Pennsylvania (where I live), Missouri (where part of my dad's family lives), Maryland (where my aunt/uncle/cousins live) , and Illinois (where my other aunt/uncle/cousins live).

I love Cedar Point, I'm upset that I didn't get to go up there this year (it's about a 3 hour drive but when we've gone in the past we've stayed at a motel and made it like a 3-4 day trip) I was lucky and got to ride Maverick last year after over a 2 hour wait : Top Thrill Dragster's wait was pretty dang long too but we were waiting in the station forever... it was nervousness/exciteness, awesome feeling. Crowds do annoy me sometimes too, even when I go to a sporting event.
  23. Meh it seems to be more of a matter of consistency. 3 times a week, about an hour every workout is good (they say over an hour is pushing it...) I use the website www.stronglifts.com, a great website with pretty valuable advice. I follow stronglift's variation of the "5x5" program. To summarize it involves barbell exercises in which you increase the weight every workout (which is why its hard for me, I don't have much experience in lifting and im still tryin to get the form down which is very important... especially with the squat, the king of all exercises) It's 5x5 because it's 5 sets, 5 reps for each exercise. More info on stronglifts (the 5x5 beginner's strength program). I'm basically just starting back up though...today was my first day back to the gym in weeks. I startedit a few months ago but thanks to surgery and laziness in the summer I ended up slacking every week. Does anyone here take whey protein? I started trying a new brand today (optimum nutrition or ON, chocolate flavor) It's not that good, but it's not that bad. Nutritionwise it's a nice 30ish grams of fast-digesting protein that is great for drinking after working out. Ah I swear there was another topic on working out that I posted on like a couple months ago... so I'm basically repeating myself here lol.
  24. Wow, I had no idea that rsc tip it page is still up, it brings back a lot of memories. Playing private servers is very dumb, it's not even close to being the same.
  25. Ardougne is the strange one. I've said it as "Ar-dung", "Ar-doug-nay", and i've seen people say they pronounced it "Ar-doyn"..
