I think a couple people are confused between being a "skiller" and a "skill pure". A skill pure has 3 combat and impressive non-combat skills. A skiller in it's simplest sense is an account that does not focus solely on combat. It also holds the connotation that the account has more than 50% of it's xp from non-combat skills. I would tell you to do whichever you find the most fun. If you enjoy the process of going for 99s in non-combat while keeping your combat the same, then more power to you. If that seems more like a chore than fun, raise your combat as well. Personally, I wanted to be exclusively a quester at one point and had all the quests (before RFD and after DT) done at a combat level in the high 80s. The only reason that I had raised my combat was to do the quests. The only reason that I did the quests was for Throne of Misc. which I thought was the way that everybody was making cash. Needless to say, I was rather frustrated when I found that it was cheaper to buy things on the open market. Luckily for me Jagex fixed that months later. :D At that point I discovered Barrows and got so many combat levels there (mostly mage of course) that going back to my ORIGINAL ORIGINAL idea (skiller) was kind of pointless. Hard to be a skill pure at 100+ combat, lol. It is so strange to me when people say that they are training combat because almost all of mine were side-effects of other goals. So, basically, I started out wanting to be a skill pure, discovered ToM, did the quests to get it, was disappointed, decided to finish all of the quests, discovered Barrows, got a load of combat levels on accident (search for 9,999 kc in the Blogscape forum, lol), and am now at a point where I am fishing for a big shark while farming and buying loads of seaweed/soda ash (around 2k so far) to finish up my mage and crafting skilling (can't let all of those buckets of sand go to waste, lol). So I am back to square one, non-combat skills. In other words, let yourself and your character evolve on the path that entertains you the most. This is a GAME remember? It should all be about fun goals. :) Skills will come of their own accord and faster if that is your (fun) goal. So, I vote evolution and fun.

I am all for giving people a fair shake but affirmitive action is the most unconstitutional load of crud that I have ever laid eyes on. "The law does not see sex, religon, color, creed, etc.... unless of course you want a job." EVERYTHING in the world should go to whomever deserved it the most. Period. This is supposed to be a step forward for racial/sexual equality but it is a massive step in the opposite direction. Other than the very few biological differences between race/sex (people of African decent are much more likely to be afflicted by sickle cell anemia and there is not much of a need for men to get pap smears for example) race should not even be addressed. We are all people. Period. Jobs should go to the best individual for the position be they black, white, female, male, pink, purple, left-handed or right. I view this as one of the largest failings of our nation and still have no clue how it is even justifiable in court. Drop me a pm if somebody wants a response because I will be trying to forget this thread and the mockery that is Affirmitive Action. It (not this thread) is an insult to everybody equally.

(Secretly) The Fastest Mage Exp Possible (EXPENSIVE)
RAHK replied to ikraz66's topic in General Discussion
Unless they changed it after the first day, each time an amulet is strung the spell is cast. In other words, it takes 20+ casts per inventory; not all at once. I thought the same thing with pies for 200mil xp and... needless to say it was a waste of math, lol. As mentioned, you only hit and get xp for up to 9 targets. The others are ignored. I have yet to really dive in to the priority for targetting but don't really think that the value is worth the work of repeated tests. The absolute fastest way in the game to raise magic regardless of cost is to (and yes this is ridiculous but it is technically the fastest possible) get 18 friends to stand 2 to a square in a 3x3 grid. In your poh. Their stats should be 99 hp, 1 def, and 1 mage while wearing the worst magic defense possible. Cast Ice Barrage on the center person while wearing the best mage gear. As soon as a person dies, they just run back to their position. In reality, you don't have 18 friends willing to stand still for hours with those stats. Getting 9 buddies together to alch wearing rune would be relatively easy and nobody gets incredibly bored (well, AS bored anyway). Second fastest would likely be PC with ice barrage and a fast clan. Third would be the same spell at daganoths or some other random multi-way fight. Too bad they won't line up in 3x3 grids for you, though. -
Where is the proof? 13 is my lucky number. I've done 100 runs on 6, 15, 20, and hundreds on 13 and random. One run of 9,999 KC and one run of 10k KC. The item precentage is nearly identical but the runes/racks REALLY increase past 10 KC. Anything over 30 is worthless and I wouldn't pass 20-25 unless I am using Guthan's to heal. And for the non-believer below: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=388784

Quest. No intention of getting a 99 anytime soon. I have 6 skills in the vicinity (90 or higher) but I have plans for them. Definately don't want fletching or cooking anytime soon. Cooking might happen as a side-effect of fishing so I will have to bank a TON of raws. :?
-
Is that about 80k an hour? Why would anybody do that? God bless all of you crazies out there. Even air running on f2p is double that. Use that cash on leather and you will get a ton more xp in a lot less time... Interesting data none the less. :)

Hmm... Censor evasion, as you mentioned yet everybody keeps pointing it out, is against the rules. With that being said, accidents happen. I don't know HOW many times I have tried to say "sec" and accidently hit the letter x instead of c. The commonly accepted assumption is that your friends would either tell you that they will report you the next time or would understand the slip up and forgive/forget. If, for example, an (adult!) friend got on drunk and started using a lot of foul language, I would tell them to cool it. If they were saying things that I found VERY offensive, I would warn them to stop or I will report them. Would I? Most likely not. Why? Because the ignore button works better and they aren't themselves that night. The people who go against that common assumption in this game view a possible (but unlikely) chance at gaining pmod status over their "friends". That is selfish and decietful. If somebody constantly avoids the censor, tell them to stop. If they don't, tell them you will report the next one. If they do it again, you have ever right to report them. In my opinion, pms between friends should be considered somewhat private. No, they shouldn't avoid the filter, but you should not be hoping that they do so you can report them. Request a change, give a warning, and then put them on ignore and/or report them. I choose the ignore method if they were a decent friend and the report button if what they said was atrocious. You should be able to trust that your friends have your best interests at heart and if they are baiting you and secretly reporting it, they have only their own interests at heart regardless of whether they are following the rules. A stranger deserves a warning first, a report second. A friend should be deserving of a request first so that they can change their behavior. I do not know where you fell into that, but those are my views. I would be equally peeved if somebody reported all of my "Be right back in a ***"'s. I would not even possibly report them unless they intentionally avoided the censor repeatedly after a requested change in language and a warning. While they did nothing wrong in the rules, they violated common courtesy as a friend. The only thing that came close to this was when a "friend" claimed that I hacked him and demanded that I explain how to hack somebody to get back what he lost. While this was not censor evasion, it was against the rules. I requested he change his tune, warned him that he would be reported if he continued, and (in this case) reported him and put him on ignore. He was given a week ban I believe. Months later when I was cleaning out my ignore list he messaged me saying that he was sorry and that he had learned his lesson. We didn't become friends again but he felt he got what he deserved and that I did my part as a friend to warn him of the consequences. Oh, and he was nevered hacked, he just thought that I would know how because I was a high-level. As an off-shoot of that: If somebody tells me that they scam or otherwise are abusive towards others they devolve from "stranger" or "friend" to "loser". Instant report, message saying that I did so, and straight to the ignore. I do not condone that kind of behavior from my closest friend in real life, let alone in a game. If a friend was abusing his wife/kids for example, I would go straight to the police (provided that it wasn't an ACTUAL accident i.e. they closed the car door on their wife's fingers or some other accident that could appear as abuse) and do what I could to prevent it from happening again. These people need prison time in real life and a permanent ban in-game.

If you have 70 defense and use prayer for anything other than speed rounds, you are doing something wrong. If you have a decent skill set (all combat skills 60-80) then you might need one or two doses for Karil. Safespots, melee armor, dds specs, slayer dart, and Karil's x-bow or mage short with rune/addy arrows and you only need to pray for emergencies. Runs? Too many. Average doses? No banking/trading/leaving for 63 runs and using 30 doses or p pots... that is a little less than half a dose per run in just about the most endurance-testing manner. Normally, maybe a dose every item (1 in 22.3 is my average atm, I think.)

Bingo. ^ The new Halloween item/event is being released by Jagex and is not out yet. The TET events and Tip.it do not have anything to do with the way Runescape the game is made/run. This is a fansite and a group of fans. :) If you are still confuzzled, feel free to pm me. Thanks, -RAHK-

Great idea. And who cares if pkers know? As soon as they see you they know whether you are pking or something else (green slaying, clue scrolls, etc.) anyway. This would just prevent accidental attacks for non-pkers. If pkers start wearing them, it still serves the same purpose; you won't accidently skull on them. Just wear a cape and watch your back like normal. One less thing to worry about. :D

Any respectable PC clan has an average of a round done in less than a minute and a half including all boat loading times. A good one will average out at a minute or less. Check out the link in my sig so that you can do your part to speed rounds up. 100 points should take no more than 2.5 hours and as little as 1.5 hours. Find a good clan and do your best to speed rounds up. Good Luck. :D

Cut 100 willow with an addy ax. Cut 100 with rune. It is a safe bet that the difference between addy and rune is relatively close to the difference between rune and dragon. I doubt anything higher than 15%. If I wc again it will be for xp and I would gladly pay 10mil for a 15% increase. It all depends on you, though. :)

In my opinion strength is for the wildy and attack is for everywhere else. The wild is different than everywhere else in that your target can escape. You don't have the luxury of pounding constant 10-20s to drain their hp/food; you need to get a KO before they escape. High hits have a much better chance of fast kills. The opposite is true everywhere else. With 99 attack and 70 strength you will do more damage over time than you will get with 70 attack and 99 strength PROVIDED THAT YOUR TARGET IS NOT SOFT! If your target has no defense or low defense then attack is pointless. No amount of attack will make you hit higher than 100% and 90-95% is essentially pointless. So wild = strength, no/low def target = strength, all the rest = attack. My stats have changed from normal since PC debued. I am raising my strength to 98-99 at PC and then using my whip to raise attack and then defense on slayer tasks. It is basically impossible to get that kind of strength xp anywhere else in the game and the speed and power of the whip for training is undeniable. Defense is the tool you use to deal with those strength pures. Strength pures usually have low attack and, if they never hit due to your defense, can't use their best weapon effectively. Pures are the best anti-pure, lol. Other than that, you want your defense high enough to wear what you need and to survive what you are fighting long enough to make it worthwhile. Not taking pvp into account, there is no real reason to have a defense level over 70 until you get into the 90s for offense UNLESS you have your heart set on taking out the kbd, kq, dks, no-pray barrows consitantly, etc. Your normal monster can't really take 70 defense out that well. The big daddios, however, were MADE for 99 defense. :3>

Provided that rune/rack prices do not plummet to worthless, barrows will always be profitable. The point is that the profit is so low now, that you can do nearly any other major cash maker and make far more. Barrows is now like any other minigame in my eyes, a game for fun. Nothing wrong with any of that of course. And Reb, I would gladly over-analyze DKs if somebody wants to drag me along, lol. Most times that I want to go, there just isn't anybody to go with. Not a huge fan of group tasks for that very reason.
-
Fresh, Fresh, Fresh... You missed both of my points, lol. I was testing the endurance of one inventory and tactics. Not many people can get 63 runs out of one inventory without that setup. Endurance, not speed. 7.5 minutes a run? Nice. But that is neither here nor there. The second point is that regardless of tactics, you can make much better cash elsewhere. You sound like I am stating the opposite. I'm not. Barrows is for fun, low-average cash, and low-average gp all rolled into one. For any one of those things, it is horrible and combined it still isn't that great. I think I might just leave the field for a long while until it is fun again.

Well, we have to use skirts not legs for armor stands (POHs) so it evens out. :)

Yes, it is another RAHK post. Yes, that means it is long. If you have the patience of a gnat, look at the purdy pictures and be on your way. We all know about the minigame Barrows. We all know that it is the only place to obtain arguably the best armor/weapons in the game. Since my first run at 80 or so combat (I think), I have always thought that it is just WAY too easy for the rewards that it gives. Comparable to getting dark gloves for finishing the first part of RFD. The KQ is much, MUCH harder to defeat and the dragon chain is mostly worn for show, not stats. Jad is very hard as well and, while the cape is really handy, it pales in comparison to the rewards from barrows, stat-wise. I decided to test exactly HOW easy barrows can be. While I am obviously not a level 50 trying to eek their way through barrows and having to repeatedly tele out, my combat stats are FAR from rare (see sig). I brought the following inventory and gear to the barrows field and did as many runs as I could without leaving to bank, heal, or recharge prayer. And no, I did not have somebody trade me supplies (in fact a few tipiters were nice enough to offer, but I politely declined.) I want to mention that this is not a strategy that most should try. I hovered at the max hit for a couple of the melee brothers and just crossed my fingers. One time a sneak attack from torag had me down to 7 health. This is not a safe way and I risked probably too much to test it out, but risk equals fun for the most part. :ohnoes: Set-up (all items freshly repaired): Tactics: At all times I left the fire cape, dark gloves, Moon Clan ring, fury, and (obviously) the bolt racks equipped. I had to eat a total of 4 monks and 2 strange fruit (I was there for awhile, lol) for room. I always started with Karil. Full guthan minus the spear (to start), white boots, dds, and d square. I swear his insane accuracy has been lowered a bit because I ended up leaving him with 80% or higher health pretty often when normally I had to eat to survive. Anywho, I unloaded 4 dds specs (which completely killed him several times), and then switched to guthan spear (both weapons set to slash) and hoped for a few heals. I have tried a whip before and for some odd reason I just couldn't connect like I can with a Guthan Spear. Most runs ended with my health at 50-80% after Karil. He used 3 monks, 2 sharks and 1 prayer dose after all the runs. Ahrims next. Karil's top/bottom/x bow, archer helm, and no white boots (negative stats on the boots weren't helping anyway). That guy was either a push-over or fierce. Most rounds he would just eat bolt rack and die. Missing was pretty rare. I have tried a mage short, crybow, addy knives/zammy book, slayer dart, and a whip. Dart was by far the worse but none of them (mage short spec included) could touch the Karil's Repeating Crossbow. Due to the fact that I occasionally ended up pretty low on health from karil, Ahrim cost me 1 shark and 4 p pots (4) after all of the runs. Torag. Wimp. Same difference. Full guthans no spear (d med instead of helm near the end when it was almost broken), d square, slayer staff (using dart obviously), and white boots. When my guthans was nearly broken, I took him out a few times with kharil's top and bottom to lengthen my healing option. Most of the time I would try to take him on if I was around 25-30 health. He just can't hit that often. The one time that I almost died was due to him, though. Lucky for me his accuracy is so spotty. He hit near his max and I was left at 7 health. I was so surprised (he might have done a total of 80 damage after all of the trips) that he had time to hit me again before I could sidestep. Zeroes ftw, lol. He ate up a full prayer pot (4) because I thought that I could heal off him... I didn't, lol. I finished that one off with dart. So 1 p pot (4) for him. Guthans. Same deal as Torag but he rarely lasted a little longer if he could catch a lucky heal. I would take him on if I had 25-30 health or higher. Had to use another dose of prayer pot on him once. Verac. This guy is probably the most damaging brother. I would only take him on at 75% or higher health. Same set-up as the other melee brothers. No food or p pots used on him. Dharok. While this guy has roughly the same accuracy as the other two lesser melee brothers, he can hit high. Due to the fact that he was last on the list and I am rarely at max health, I always tunneled him. He didn't cost me any food/p pots. So, I visited the brothers in that order. If I didn't have the health to take them out, I just clicked the tomb and ran to the stairs. One time I got caught with 15 health due to a lucky hit as I sprinted to safety, so I had to wait until I naturally regenerated 10 health. ALL of the rest of the healing was due to guthans. Once I found the tunnel, I would kill any of the four southern brothers if I had the health. Most of the time I would simply go down and heal up off monsters. I would make my way to the southern or northeastern rooms, healing on the way. I would then force-spawn the remaining brothers and safe-spot them behind the rocks or ladders. If I met torag, karil, ahrim, or guthan on the way (or karil/ahrim at anytime down there) I would simply fight until I had to heal, go back to the room that I was in, heal, return, and repeat until they were dead. A good 90% of the time that wasn't necessary but it did happen occasionally. My kill count was simply based on what monsters I had to kill to heal and to spawn the brothers. The average kill count was 30-40 which is high, but probably faster than teleing/walking to a bank, recharging, and returning. That average includes the two times that I couldn't PAY a brother to spawn, lol. I had two runs that were WAY too high on kill count (78 and 86) but I made sure to kill all six brothers. If I was focused on speed versus endurance and complete rounds (6 brother kills) the max kill count would have been around 12-15. I noticed that I hit WAY too well with a simple g spear vs. the melee brothers as well on the first hit when they were force-spawned. After a long while my guthans was at 25% (except spear 50%). I started mixing it up with my first looted d med and my karil's to keep the guthans alive as long as possible. I had to eat a shark down there due to guthans being broken and me needing to escape alive, lol. The last shark was eaten on accident when I was only 6 below max. #-o Here is my inventory/gear after 63 runs without leaving the field or trading anything at all: I didn't remember to note my mage experience before I started so have no way to know exactly how many times I casted slayer dart. Using my average of 53 casts per run, I can safely assume that I used roughly 3,339 casts of slayer dart. I have no clue on the bolt racks, though. I would guess roughly 13 per kill so 819 is a decent guess. Total cost: 3,339 (*4) mind runes @ 20 each: 267,120 gp 3,339 death runes @ 290 each: 968,310 gp 819 bolt racks @ 350 each: 286,650 gp 7 Monkfish @ 450 each: 3,150 gp 5 Shark @ 1k each: 5,000 gp 6 Prayer Potions (4) @ 9.5k each: 57,000 gp Consumables Sub-Total: 1,587,230 gp Guthan's Plate Repair (78 smithing): 54,900 gp Guthan's Skirt Repair (78 smithing): 48,800 gp Guthan's Spear Repair (78 smithing): 51,972 gp Guthan's Helm Repair (78 smithing): 34,478 gp Karil's Crossbow Repair (78 smithing): 2,562 gp Karil's Top Repair (78 smithing): 14,165 gp Karil's Skirt Repair (78 smithing): 12,591 gp Repairs Sub-Total: 219,468 gp TOTAL cost: 1,806,698 gp Total Gross Profit: Barrows Items (low estimates from runescript on mIRC): Dharok's Plate ~ 900,000 gp Karil's Top ~ 180,000 gp Sub-Total: 1,080,000 gp Non-Barrows Items (low estimates from runescript on mIRC): 2 D Meds @ 420,000 ~ 840,000 gp Full Crystal Key ~ 65,000 gp Sub-Total: 905,000 gp Bolt Racks: 1475 (-200 brought with me) Bolt Racks @ 350 each: 446,250 gp Runes: 11,754 (-2,000 brought with me) Mind Runes @ 20 each: 195,080 gp 2,216 (-1,000 brought with me) Death Runes @ 290 each: 352,640 gp 1,858 Blood Runes @ 600 each: 1,114,800 gp 7,312 Chaos Runes @ 140 each: 1,023,680 gp Sub-Total: 2,686,200 gp Misc: 65,424 gp 1 saph and 5 rubies (not counted into total) 7 Crumbling Tombs = Priceless ... not counted into total either, lol. (45 + 35 + 80 + 50 + 70 + 60) / 6 = 57 average hp 57 * 4 (melee xp) * 63 (runs) * 35 (average kill count) = 502,740 melee xp [8 (damage per dart cast) * 3,339 + 100 (Ahrim's hp) * 63 + 125,685 (melee xp divided by 4)] * 1.33 = 211,067 hp xp Total combat xp: 892,601 xp gained The combat xp was just for me, but since I calced it I thought I would include it anyway, lol. Sooo, I gained a total of 3,376,176 gp and 892,601 combat xp in 63 runs at barrows without leaving the field for any reason and without picking up or trading for any supplies. The ONLY reason that I HAD to leave was because my Guthan's was broken. I think that the only way to last longer would be to bring 1 or 2 more sets of guthans, but that just seems rather crazy, lol. Now, here are my four main points/questions: 1. 63 runs @ roughly 16 minutes per run for only 3,376,176 gp. That works out to a measly 198,598 gp per hour on average (roughly 52,505 combat xp per hour, though). Not the fastest path but definately one of the cheapest. Not fantastic item rewards but I didn't net 2 coifs either, lol. Is Barrows even worth the effort anymore due to the armor price drops? 2. Due to the fact that my defense has barely raised since I went with over 400 range defense and was DESTROYED by Karil, and now I can kill him with 4 dds specs or 4 dds specs (all zeroes) and a g spear or EASILY kill him with 4 dds specs and healing from guthans, I think he may have been wimpified (nerfed). Do you think that Karil's accuracy and/or slash defense has been lowered? 3. Guthan's Spear slices through Karil like he was hot butter. Karil's Crossbow punches through Ahrim like he was wearing cardboard armor. Guthan's Spear gets WAY too lucky versus the melee brothers. Non-barrows weapons don't do nearly as well, even when their stats are superior. Are the Barrow's Brothers weak to their Brother's weapons in a manner similiar to fire-based monsters are weak to the Sea Curse effect of pearl/iron bolts? 4. 63 runs. No banks. No altars. No trades. Only one time of auto-regen. Roughly 17 hours at the Barrows Field and no resupply of any sort needed. While I am a higher level, I am roughly 57mil xp (at less than half) away from a completely combat maxed character so am far from the most deadly player out there. The ONLY reason that I HAD to leave was the fact that my guthans was broken. If it didn't break, I could have stayed there like I can ranging or maging anywhere. Is Barrows just too easy now that we know all of the little tricks? Post your answers, questions, thoughts, or flames. Well, not too flamey, lol. No, I won't prettify it either. Feel free to point out any errors/typos. Thanks for reading. :)

Just wanted to update people on my situation if anybody was curious. Due to the fact that the instructor determines what and how much of what I need, he basically was the one to choose, lol. The counselor who told me no Dell, no mac, did not know my instructor very well because he chose an PowerBook Pro with all the bells and whistles. I don't mind since apparently it is the best apple laptop on the market and it can run windows, which I am familiar with. I will likely have that puppy on permanent windows boot camp for a few months, lol. I get it in three, count 'em, THREE weeks so am excited to bring a sledge to my current laptop. Thanks all for your advice. It helped me tell the VA what the instructor meant and made it easier to defend the choices. Thanks again, -RAHK-

Collecting & Anti-Littering Guide - Over 700k items so far!
RAHK replied to RAHK's topic in General Discussion
Use the pm button. I have been massively busy people, so I haven't updated this for awhile. I have been considering an offer to put it in a more easily read format but am not sure that I can keep on top of it enough so that it is accurate. I apologize but things should calm down in a week or two after I settle into college a bit. -
This was moved to Help and Advice since you are seeking advice. I personally alch on world 2 while using fire strike on that crazy guy under Yanille. CHEAP mage xp from the overpowered strikes and a nice load of sinister keys by the time you are done. Wear your best non-barrows melee armor since it is nearly impossible to miss him and he uses melee to attack. If you don't have the agility level it is worth training it for that spot.

Please use the correct forum/sticky. This one might help. :) PRICE CHECK STICKY Thanks, -RAHK-

... This is a far worse setup... The whole point of this guide is using the best of the best for the fastest of the fast games. Your setup is less average damage than mine even without pots. Try both and you will see. You will average much more damage in a minute from the 4 dds specs and poison that you will from the extra points in strength. Wearing glitzy armor is pointless. Choosing defense over prayer is pointless. I am not sure if you get what this is about. :?
