  1. Most likely. Post this in the sticky please. :D Thanks, -RAHK-
  2. I just merged these four threads into one so the replies are going to be out of synch. They go in order of time/date posted so they mix a little. Feel free to edit it so it looks better and keep it updated with any more tips that you think up. :D Thanks, -RAHK-
  3. Whatever the max is. I feel almost guilty if I leave a quest undone, lol.
  4. Good idea. No time to take pics etc. but I will make a note of it. :)
  5. World 16 is 2.5k gp and 25 noted regular ess per 25 unnoted ess. If you cannot afford that much, some people will run for 2k gp and 25 noted ess per 25 unnoted ess. You are losing money until 66 rc with 2.5k + ess.
  6. Jagex does not have time to thank each person that reports. I have been playing for awhile and have only recieved a single notice. They said thanks for reporting somebody who threatened to hack me and then asked how to hack somebody. He was permabanned. If they thanked all of the macro-reporters that would take a lot of time away from banning those macroers. Just be happy that you are doing your part in the anti-macro fight. :D Also, I would just like to say that the more you chase pmod status, the better your chances of it not happening. They want people who report for the sake of reporting, not people who report to become crowned.
  7. Granite is faster xp but zero cash or smithing xp. Iron is the fastest bankable xp but is slower than granite. If you can buy 99 smithing, mine granite. If you can't, mine iron in Yanille (members) or Al Kharid (f2p). Yanille is the best for members but I am not sure about f2p.
  8. While it is (very) true that I know little of computers at the moment, I am going for a degree in computer sciences to remedy that. I find computers fascinating (especially the fact that you can get bugs/glitches from 0's and 1's which would seem straightforward in performance) and would like to know more. Before this I was just as interested in weapons, explosives, and parachuting and... let's say that my curiosity is quenched. Not to mention that $1200 of this is from my own pocket. They make you pay for benefits that are later apparent to be nearly useless. I would like to get as much from this as I can due to the fact that I will never be able to use it all up before it expires. Lol, that would be GREAT! The big problem is that I need to be able to semi-justify the expenses. They would likely pay for top-of-the-line processors but would laugh if I wanted a custom paintjob (best example I can give with my enormous amount of computer spec knowledge). From what I have been told they are not easy to convince when it comes to personalized equipment; they like packages with options at best. Mmm, $40k worth of laptop... =P~ I know as much about apples as I do about platypus anatomy, aka zilch. The counselor that I spoke with specifically told me to avoid them and Dell's. Don't know why and I don't really care because they grade my assignments, lol. I have heard rumors that macs have gotten a bad rap for no reason but would prefer to stick with a pc for the time being. No offense to the Apple-folk at all, of course. :D Bah, no problem. I will just lug a gasoline-powered generator behind me. Just have to avoid small closed-in rooms with poor ventalation... :XD:
  9. Please use the sticky at the top of the Help and Advice forum. Thanks, -RAHK-
  10. My understanding of how this works is that I get one shot at a computer and can't get another until that one is essentially worthless. Since we are talking about the military here that could easily be 10 or 15 years in their eyes. Since I do not know the impact that would have on my overall search (it might limit options for example) I think that I will stick with the double battery option. Most of the places that I dug through listed that as a standard upgrade, anyway. Whoever thought that dual-card thing up, though, is a flippin' genius.
  11. It was a joke. I was just asking if there are any features that pieces of furniture made from more expensive materials give that are hidden. Not likely but it wouldn't shock me.
  12. Power is by far more important but it still needs to be somewhat useful unplugged. It is likely that I can plug in during at least one class a day, if not more. What are the normal times for power hogs like this?
  13. Firstly i'd liek to say I'm all into the penny pinching/ optimal levle of doing everything. However i think your math is off on this. There is a 96 hour difference beween between using Larders and using armor stands. In that amount of time a person could get 500k an hour, fairly common using multipul skills, which would bring about 48M difference. Admitidly not everyone can do this but on the same note, most of the people that cant; really cant afford to dump that much cash into a skill to gain 99 in it; and have no way to recoup the cost upfront. Also the ones who could benifit the most out of the armour stands would already be 99 smithing, making the bonus smithing exp there none needed\redundent. The Idea has merrit and would definitly be an option for someone that has a very limited income and wanted to get to a certin lvl. Just my two cents but i look forward to seeing your other ideas :) LK1 I got tired of doing every calculation 6 times, lol. The point of using the best possible mas vs. the fastest possible larder path was to illustrate the vast gp savings. If you calc the savings vs. the time it costs you 84mil to be only 6% more "efficient". What you did not factor in is the fact that you would actually need to make 1mil+ an hour AND smith 1.2k iron bars into knives and sell them in another hour. So 40 odd hours of 1mil+ gp an hour plus 40 odd hours of 1.2k iron bars into knives and selling. It all depends on which ones you can make and personal preference though, of course. The people that I think will get the most benefit from this and will use it are: 1. 99 smithers or Gold CW Armor owners. 2. 28+ con folk who can't afford a lot of con gp drain. (cw1as, most likely) 3. 68+ smithers that don't mind the loss of time vs. the free smithing and con xp. I am number 3 and a small portion of players are as well. I would assume number 1 to be very low. I think the vast majority who benefit from this tactic are those whose combat level is 20-80ish, don't have a load of disposable income, and need to pinch every penny that they get AKA number 2. A large portion of tip's community and a small portion of rs' will likely prefer larders due to the fact that they are faster for most who have a lowish smithing level. Basically, if you do not have 68 smithing or at least white cw armor and can afford the cost of 99 con then larders are your best choice.
  14. Well, I could plug it in between classes so maybe 1.5 hours? No clue on their lifespans, lol. Other than class it will always be plugged in.
  15. Wish I would have seen this 3mil ago, lol. Oh well, the big ticket items are already in the right spot. Just need to slash and burn the empty and not so empty rooms. :x
  16. Have my babies, primadog? Lol, I believe that I am not properly equipped to give birth but thanks again for the help. :D Now I just need to add up the number of marble blocks and gold leaf that I will need. :| 3 marble, 10 gold leaf, 10 cloth, 2 limestone, 9 teak, 13 oak, 35 mahog, 11 clockworks, 4 steel, 3 glass is roughly... too much, lol. One more: Is the lag based on the first floor or all combined housing items/rooms?
  17. The question would be: how does he know that he isn't going to get scammed? This is a "job" so should be in the Falador section of the market place. I would suggest using your worker to unnote them (use the noted planks on her/him). If you want to do it with other people, please make a post in that forum. Thanks, -RAHK-
  18. Lol, I just recently had this discussion with a friend from tip. You cannot hit more than 9 targets regardless of the number available. We could not find out and did not recieve an answer for who gets hit but I am under the impression that it hits in the same order as how people stack. Right click a crowd and my guess is that it would hit them from top to bottom. Just my opinion, though. :)
  19. My player owned house is, and has been, strictly for leveling con. I have experimented with a few rooms and found out that you can block a room completely off... :-w (feel free to come and see my stranded kitchen before I demolish it O:) ) I now know the rooms that I want and roughly where I want them but I do not know which rooms can be placed where. For example, I doubt that I can place a throne room underground due to the fact that I will need to put the Oubliette underneath it. Here are my questions and please only answer if you know for 100% sure or have a tested answer for the open-ended questions: 1. Which rooms CANNOT go below the ground floor? 2. Can normal rooms be placed on the same floor and connected to a dungeon (dining room, workshop, etc.)? 3. Can you build a room, build a room past that one, and demolish the middle room to leave the other free floating? 4. Are there any rooms that perform better on the top floor? 5. Do I need a room with stairs leading down if I have a throne room with a functional ladder on the same level? 6. Does anybody have a clue as to whether marble and other expensive things lag more or less compared to their less expensive versions? 7. Is there any way to destroy a set of stairs without losing the rooms below/above? 8. Any recommendations for versions of items? I.e. The marble stairs are worth the price because you can slide on them! :^o My plan is to setup my house in the following manner: If I can put the throne room underground (doubt it) I will. All of the other rooms will be below ground if possible. The portals will contain all of the teles except yanille which is where my house will be. P.S. The title joke is due to this thread: Did you say free con AND smithing xp?! Version 1.3 CLEARER!!. :-$
  20. I don't understand why only 2 MAS is made in the cycle? The cook can hold 16, so wouldn't 8 MAS be made instead of (2+3) = 5? same question for the 11. The demon butler can hold 26, but we need to have 7 space taken by: hammer, saw, gp, plank note, mith large, mith kite, mith body. Wouldn't we sent the demon butler out for 20 items? One last thing, for making larders /w demon butler, it's only possible to finish 2 larders by the time he returns. So it's necessary to add +5sec to each round: 10 min / 26+(5x1) * 3 = 58 larder max per 10 minute period I editted out everything that I agreed with for space, lol. This page is already massive enough. I do appreciate the help, btw. Anywho, I was making the assumption that you could make 3 things instead of 2 with a cook (so 3 then 2 for time and then 3 again) and 1 instead of 2 with the demon (1 11 and 1). If you can actually make 2 with the demon then your figures are correct (and I am pretty sure that you can but didn't want to overestimate). I haven't tested the cook but I would bet that you could easily get 3 since I can almost get a third up with a butler. I have reached my math limit on this, lol. The sum of it all is that you can save a huge portion of the cost of 99 con by using the best armor stand you can make, oak logs, and a cook while you can get there faster with oak larders, oak planks, and a demon butler. Ok, just a little math: 10k for demon, 3k for cook = 70% savings Rough paydays for larders 834, rmas/cwas 987 = 5,379,000 gp SAVED 500gp per plank, 300gp per log planked (50 for oak log) = 40% savings 108,530,058 cost in planks for 99, 47,358,600 cost in logs = 61,171,458 gp SAVED 120 xp per 2 planks, Rmas/Cw3as's 165 xp = 37.5% savings 8.33 gp per xp, 3.64 gp per xp = 4.69 gp per xp savings 120 xp, Adding smith 190 xp = 58.3% savings 8.33 gp per xp, 3.16 gp per xp = 5.17 gp per xp savings Total value of free smithing xp possible = 18,410,656 SAVED Totals: 5,379,000 gp saved on workers, 61,171,458 gp saved on planking logs, and 18,410,656 gp in free smithing value. Total value saved = 84,961,114 gp Total cost for 99 con is 2,961,000 gp for workers and 47,358,600 gp for logs and planking costs. Total cost for 99 con with rmas' = 50,319,600 gp Total percent saved = 62.8% Larders are 630 per hour using the most expensive method. Total larders needed is 27,133 so total time is 43 hours. Rmas are 492 per hour using the cheapest method. Total time is 139 hours. 69% difference in speed minus the 62.8% savings leaves 6.2%. Don't forget the time vs. xp/gp rate that I mentioned before (if you can make 1.071 gp an hour and smith 1.2k iron bars into knives and sell them an hour then consider larders). This means that you need to ask yourself the following question: Is it worth 84,961,114 gp to be 6.2% more efficient with larders?
  21. I will need the battery to last for roughly 4 hours without being plugged in. My current laptop's battery is so messed up that it lasts 45 mins which isn't even a full class. :x
  22. It is nearly impossible to die in ~60 seconds during PC. I would by far prefer the extra slash/stab attack for the halved defense. I have tried it and the defender is FAR superior I can assure you.
  23. So anything school-related is basically covered if I get a good gaming laptop? Well that is good to know, lol. So 3 GB and a 7900GS video card? What about the processor? What is the best speed (?) and best choice (I think Athlon and Intel are my options, right?) between those two? From what I have seen so far it is sounding like the falcon is the best choice unless somebody can explain the alienware's stats to me.
  24. If you take a glance at the times you might want to check the value for yourself. I knew this was slower con xp but was suprised at how fast it still was and how much cash I was saving overall. To each their own though, of course. :D What does your acronym, "mam", mean? I have been using mas for Metal Armor Stand. Just wondering. :) All of the times for both are identical for everything except one part (the bolded step). It takes the same time to send the noted, the same time for the logs to arrive, the same time to send the logs, the same time to recieve the planks, the same time to send the notes again, the same time to m&b 2 units which takes the same time for the logs to arrive (if you dissasemble both at the end you will be holding the armor when the worker arrives so you do not get jammed with too many planks and logs), build 6 mas, the same time to send the logs, the same time to recieve the planks (while waiting for them to arrive you can build your last two mas's thereby not altering the time), the same time to send the notes, the same time to m&b 2 units, the same time for the logs to arrive, build 6 mas again, rinse and repeat. The single difference in time is the making of the 6 (2 before "official" m&b time and 2 after) mas (10 total using the butler). Everything else is identical. The reason that larders do not have nearly as many made as mas is because of the fact that most of the time is spent waiting on your worker. Before sending the logs to the planker you can build all but 2 of the mas. This leaves you with 2 more m&b's while you wait for the planks to arrive again as mentioned. The difference in time between demon butlers, butlers, and (probably but haven't tested it out yet) cooks using oak logs (and likely planks as well) for making any mas is negligible. You are only dependent on their speed for the very first loads actually. During the rest of the time you will always be building while waiting so the slower your worker, the more efficient your time spent while saving gp on fees. In other words, you can build 1 (demon butler) to 3/4 (cook) mas while they are traveling and then take up less time in building the rest (up to 11 with butler and as few as 1 or even 0 with the cook). Bah, after writing all of that I have confused what my point was, lol. Basically, the only difference in time per round trip between larders and mas's is the building of 6 mas using a butler. Therefore the only 2 times needed are how fast you can m&b a single mas and the total time for a worker's round trip. Take 10 minutes, divide that by the round trip time, and multiply that buy 2.5 (the number of larders made per round) to find the max number of larders that can be built in 10 minutes. Do the same but add 6 times the time it takes to m&b a single mas to the round trip time and multiply by 10 instead of 2 for the max number of mas's that can be built in 10 minutes. Example: Using your 36 second round trip and 5 second per m&b estimates: 10 minutes / 36 seconds x 2.5 = 41 larders max per 10 minutes 10 minutes / 36+(6x5) x 10 = 90 mas's max per 10 minutes Using 7 seconds per m&b it would = 76 mas's max per 10 minutes This assumes that your 36 second round trips and your 5-7 second m&b cycles are correct which I do not know. I think that your numbers were off mostly because of wasting time building when you could be using that time to send stuff AND build. The difference in time between workers is so small that a cook is the best choice for mas while the opposite is true for larders. In other words the difference between workers for mas's is hardly noticeable while the differenc is huge for larders. That difference is even more noticeable with planks as opposed to logs due to the fact that there is more downtime for m&b compared to trip speed. I will assume that a cook trip takes 18 seconds (a guess) which adds 12 seconds to the 36 for a total of 48. Since the cook only brings 16 things at once and is slower I will assume that you can get 3 things made per downtime cycle (which leaves 2): Using cook the max mas per 10 minute period is: 10 minutes / 48+(5x2) x 8 = 82 mas's max per 10 minute period Same thing with larders: 10 minutes / 48 x 2 = 25 larders max per 10 minute period Using your times for the demon butler and the downtime cycle remainder of 11 for mas: Using Demon Butler the max mas per 10 minute period is: 10 minutes / 26+(5x11) x 13 = 96 mas's max per 10 minute period Larders: 10 minutes / 26 x 3 = 69 larders max per 10 minute period So the difference between cooks and demons for mas's is 17.1% with a 333% increase in cost while larders' difference is 276% with the same 333% increase in cost. Not worth it for mas's while nearly required for larders. Just another way that mas's end up being a lot cheaper in the long run.
  25. Looked but no clue how that compares to the others mentioned. Is there a sight that lets you customize it down to every last detail? Then I can just get a list of the absolute best from you guys and plug it in.
