What movie(s) did you last see?
i didnt think fargo was all that great. didnt think it was bad either. thought it was different, luckily not the different just to be different type of movie, it was just different. it was ok. like the coen brothers other films ive seen, it was different and you have to give them props for that. and they were all ok. last movie i saw was leon - the proffessional. i dont know if i had seen it yet when we made the lists for the contest, but if i had it definently would have been at my number 2 all time favorite movie. it is kind of odd though that i thought it lost a lot of its greatness the second time i watched it. usually movies are not quite as good the second time, but this one seemed to drop a little more than usual the second time. still my numebr 2 movie though :D . i would have liked to see a little more a** kicking at the end though, although that may have taken away from the realism of it. maybe there are some deleted scenes extras on the dvd, that would be cool. i really liked this movie :D EDIT: just finished kingdom of heaven a few minutes ago. didnt really think highly of it. i hadnt seen it and i didnt know what it was about but i could guess pretty much everything that would happen. no suspense, the big, glorious, epic battles just arent anything special anymore, the romance part was so cliched it wasnt even funny, pretty much like the rest of the movie. thought the queen girl looked alright, id still take helen from troy though  im not a bloom fan but i dont dislike him either, he just didnt quite fit the part. i was using winamps 5 second skip through a lot of parts, all the sudden the queen didnt have long hair, did i miss something? it really annoyed me when he was mass knighting people and he singled out a young servant. i mean geez, could it have been more cliched? i have to chage from not thinking highly of it to hating it. basically a waste of time.

Health Risk
i dont see why people ever forward chain letters. usually its something like this, about some virus that doesnt exist, a really sad story that probably isnt true, something that was halfway funny when you first get it in 1997 but now 500 times later it just pisses you off, something that promises you will fall in love if you send it to 20 people, or something that makes a cartoon pop up on your screen if you send it to 20 people (i fell for that about 8 years ago, i cant believe some people still try that). once i switched to my current email address, i didnt tell anyone except for a few people who knew better than to send them. all the other people lost the right to send me emails as soon as they send a chainletter. i think the only purpose of chain letters is so that someone can get a lot of email addresses and sell them to advertising companies. then people wonder why they get so much spam. and then i get spam too because of others stupidity (of course, not now that i changed). sorry about the rant here but i really hate the people who start these chain letters, and i wouldnt be sorry if they all fell down dead one day.

Disaster Zone
Yeah, and some people believe that the earth goes through cycles of bad hurricanes etc. It might all be a big coincidence, or it might not, there are so many different schools of thought it's unbelievable, it's just the media likes to pump out the global warming one all the time, because they seem to be able to blame polititicians for it, but i think there's more to it. yeah, the amount of disasters happening right now isnt even anymore than any other time, during a period a while ago there were a lot more. the media pumps out the global warming crap so that they can blame it on bush, because right now its popular to blame everything on him.

Clean your keyboard day.
honestly id love to throw my laptop in the dishwasher to clean it...but unfortunatley due to uhhh circumstances with water and electricity.... interesting thing about water and electricity, water is a good conductor for electricty. that means if you throw a plugged in radio into a bathtub full of water, and you are in the water, you are going to be electricuited, right? well, for 99.99999% of the time, yes, but not because of the water (well, it kinda is and kinda isnt). the electricty passes through the water and through your body, and the down the Metal drain. you and the water are just part of the circuit, just a conductor for electricty. but say your bathtub, and about 6 feet of your drain, is all completly made of rubber. you throw a plugged in radio into the bathtub full of water, and you are in it, and what do you know, you dont get shocked. electric device thrown into water, and nothing happens (well, the radio probably wouldnt work anymore, and it might flip a breaker).

Clean your keyboard day.
my keyboard on the family computer that i used to use before i bought my computer was pretty nasty. i dont know how many drinks ive spilled on it, the lemonade made all the keys stick for a while. probably many many chip crumbs in there, as well as cookie crumbs, and many other crumbs. a piece of popsicle once broke off and fell onto the numpad, and it kinda screwed things up over there for a while. but i dont use that computer anymore so i dont have to worry about it

ive always had enough food to eat, and a house to live in, and clothes to wear. my family was never considered poor. but i most definently did NOT get everything i ever wanted. up until i turned 16 and got a job, i never got anything except for necessities (besides for my birthday and christmas). i lived a lot worse (if you want to call it that) than pretty much all the other families that make around the same amount. that was just because my parents are really tight with money. there were a few times i felt cheated, but most of the time i knew i got what i needed and their were people out there much worse off than me, so i never really felt bad about the situation. then i start my job the summer after i turned 16. i worked at an iga, not the highest class place, and it was situated right infront of the trailer park. after working there a few weeks i started noticing some of the regulars, none of them looking like they took a shower in a few weeks. i then stereotyped them as the poor people who were worst off than me, and felt bad about it. then whenever i was bagging their groceries, i noticed some paid with food stamps, and i felt bad about it. then i started to look at their groceries, and they were buying mostly pop (something i never had until i started working and paid for myself), lays chips (not the off brand kind, the only kind i ever got) and many times they bought the steaks from the meat department. i never got steak at home. i thought, why do these people eat better (better being used loosly here, some would consider it unhealtyier but im not comparing health into it) than i do? i was pushing the cart out to this one middle aged guys car, (your not supposed to for anyone who doesnt need it, like old people, but i was looking for some tip money and we werent busy) and i realized what time it was. 1:00 in the afternoon on a friday. i though, shouldnt he be at work? then i remembered him coming in on moday at aroudn this time too. and he came in late at night on wednesday. i then concluded after his shabby appearance, foodstamp usage, and not ever being at work, that he was on welfare. i wondered why someone who i pay to live gets to eat better than me. when we got to his car, which was a brand new honda civic (not an expensive car, but still new isnt cheap) i got mad. im drivign around in a piece of crap car that probably wouldnt last to much longer (and it didnt, had to get rid of it) working my butt off over my summer vacation, and here he is not having any worries in the world, just waits for his welfare check to come once a month. living at the people who works expense. so yes, i do know what its like not to get everything i want, and i do know the frustration of people living better than me who dont work as hard (in this case not at all). but i was never jelous of him, i just wait for the day when the lazy of this world have no one to mooch off of anymore, because the producers got tired of producing just to be stolen from. then i will laugh. i used to get into these debates a lot back in the day on this forum and others, but i havent done it in a while. thanks for giving me something to find interesting enough to actually reply to. but alas, while my response to the other person in this post may make it seem as if i hate lazy people, and that i am not lazy, that is false. i am very lazy. and i suck at debating, thats probably why i stopped. so as you have most undoubtedly guessed, it means i wont be debating anymore... you win :P

start off by saying that i think the moral of your post is that musicians should be playing music just for the music, and not for the money. i respect that opinion, but i dont quite agree. the musician can choose what to do with his music, if he wants to just let anyone listen to it for free he can, and if he wants to make millions he can. its HIS choice, its not the general populaces place to make slaves of everyone else. stealing IS stealing, doesnt matter if you take 5 bucks out of my pocket, or take a few grand out of my savings account. you are still STEALING. so what if people steal to feed their families... what gives them the right to take away someone elses property? maybe they should WORK, then they would have enough to buy food. this robin hood thing is pretty funny actually. the tagline should be: "steal from the oppresive government that steals/taxes from the poor". instead of being an anti-totaliarian story, someone decided to make the tagline steal from the rich (which happened to be the same people who taxed them to death, so its using the term loosely like you would call a thief who stole millions, yes he is rich but he didnt earn anyof it, and he doesnt have a right to have it) to make it simpler. this adversly affects nowadays, because the rich arent the government that taxes people and takes all their money, the rich of today earned their wealth (most of them, theres still a lot of government control over the economy which still makes people rich who dont earn it). so now robin hood is against being smart and sucessful. while that enron guy may have stolen from the company that he was a part of, it is still stealing and he didnt earn it. he probably had some friends in washington who got him off the hook. that is NOT a trait of capitalism, the government has no control over it. i dont know the enron story though, so i dont know exactly what happened and that response may not correspond at all with what really happened. yes, downloading is stealing. yes it is hurting someone. yes. yes. would it hurt me if you took a few cents out of my paycheck each week? change adds up after a while. id be angry if someone got into my car and took the handful of change i got in there. its still my property, that no one except me had the right too. i dont want to be anyone elses slave, working just so that they can steal from me. they didnt get the 15 dollars, so they arent getting as much money. maybe the record company was going to give this one guy a big christmas bonus, but instead gave him a fruit of the month subscription because the profit was $15 less than the line (i know $15 wouldnt make that big of difference, but it still does). doesnt matter if someone sold more of a record because people could download it and try it out first. they have the right to do what they want with their song, if they dont want people to download it, it is their choice not ours. musicians are now probably noticing that people who buy their cds like to try them out first, and a good way to do that is to allow them to download, or stream it off their website. if thats what they want to do, they can. its their song, not ours. if they want to get someone in trouble for downloading a song that they didnt want to people to download, the person should get in trouble wether or not they were planning on buying the cd. its illegal. why shouldnt people steal? because the person they are stealing from has rights. they have the right to be free (although the government doesnt seem to realize this...). they have a right to private property. as soon as some takes something from you and claims to have a right to do so, claims its not stealing, then you are degraded to nothing more than a slave. your rights dont matter at all, you are just here for others to take from. music, a movie, a novel, a software program, a tv show, all these things can be copied, with no "physical" loss to someone. but do they own it? my answer is yes, but thats just because i believe my mind and the products of my mind are for myself, no one else has the right to my mind. my thoughts and ideas are my own. lets say someone finds out a new formula for a metal that is really strong and really cheap to make. the formula can be written down, and someone else could see it. that other person could then make his own foundry and manufacture the metal also, and he never physicaly took anything from the first guy. yes it is hurting someone, its taking away their right to their property. and it doesnt matter if some one finds something morally objectionable, morals should have NO part in the law making process. morals are all subjective to each person, and laws should be made objectively, with no skewness from anyone. they own the song. if someone changed the song to be half a second shorter, its still infringment of the copy right. they took the original, the property of others, and changed it a little to call it their own. now if they created the exact same song, just half a second shorter, having never heard the original and therefore unable to copy it, then you could argue over who owns it (probably the person who did it first). but the probability of that happening is very, very, very small. im pretty sure amazon has to get permission from all the artists to do that, else they would have be sued already. you are given the right to listen to the song by streaming it, the person who owns the song gives you permission to do it. what else would you want to do with a movie other than watch (watching meaning sight and sound) it? what else would you want to do with a book other than read it? um, yeah you misunderstood. you can watch movies, you can read books, you can listen to music. im not really folowing your train of thought at all, so i dont know really what to say. they have just as much right to make money as you do. lets say you work at a fast food place (i dont know if you work or not, just making an assumption), i come in one day and say "BAM. from this moment on all your money are belong to me." thats basically what you just did to the musicians. oh, and you HAVE to continue working at the fast food place, or else i wont get my food. everything is worth as much as people are willing to pay for it. (well, except for government contolled products where some politician sets the price, not caring about anything except getting elected again) i dont see how this is a problem with capitalism. capitalism gives you the complete freedom of property. if millions of people what to buy this album, why cant they? its their choice, not yours. they can like what they want to like, you are not their master. if they cant afford it, they dont buy it. i dont see why you brought capitalism into this part at all. from you perspective this is a problem with the musician, not the economy. (im going to stereotype what rap is about, but most of the time its correct, and i dont dislike rap, im just using it as an example) a common rap song today is about how hard life was while "in the hood", about how bad poor people have it, and about how the rich should be giving a lot more money to the poor. these same rappers will make another song about their $50,000 benz, about their huge mansion and about how awesome they are. i dont know exact amounts, but most of them are definently worth over a few million dollars. now that they are rich, all the sudden they forgot that they think the rich should give all their money to the poor. they will still rap about giving money to the poor, but they wont help any. now is this a problem with capitalism, or a problem with propaganda by the musicians? how about people who dont talk about how poor people deserve all of the rich peoples money: bill gates? he is the epihany of capitalism to most people, and how much did he give to charities? (only article i could find is in 2003, but it gives the example) MORE than 50% of his net worth. 22.9 billion that year. the artist is the only one who can say what he wants with his art. without him, the art wouldnt exist. it is the artists opinion that the artist will follow, and if he decides that he wants everyone to have it, and doesnt want to make money off of it, the he can let everyone enjoy it free of charge. downloading songs is stealing. shoplifting is stealing. ***afterword*** while some of my statements may seem like flames, they are NOT. i am merely stating my opinion, and i respect the fact that you have stated your opinion. if it seems something was mean, its because i suck at writing and that was the best way i could find to write it.

House prices cause binge drinking
man houses are expensive. to rent or own. i was going to move out of my parents house until this january when i go to college, but then i thought, why? i like my parents basement, its cheap (only $150 a month, high speed internet, dish network tv, water, electricity) and i dont have to do my laundry 8) . i have a good amount of money coming in, but i dont ever binge drink. in fact ive never really drank before :D (3 smirnoffs over 2 hours, only thing to drink at the time). but it does kindof have a point, i spend a lot more money than i use to since i work all day instead of school. more money = more spending. i kinda binged on dvds a month or two ago, about 35 in 2 weeks.

What movie(s) did you last see?
donnie darko made it to my number 1 movie, i like it pretty well :D thought the same about the big lebowski, its just meh.. ok . its unique in the way the coen brothers other films (o brother where art thou, fargo are the ones ive seen) are though, and they are meh... ok also  . kinda like them, but kinda just... meh. i remember watching the 2 or 3 episodes (at least i think there were only that many) a long, long time ago in a galaxy far far away. seriously though, i liked em when i watched them, i dont know if id like it anymore. does bring back memories though :D just finished another movie: A Few Good Men. bought it because it was cheap, and im getting all of tom cruise's films. going to wait till later to get this one, not a big fan of the court room stuff or of demi moore. but she was ok in this movie. story: two people charged with murder, cruise has to defend them. pretty simple, a few twists and turns but nothing really all that suprising. at first i was disapointed with jack nicholson's charachter, not exactly his performance, and he fit the part, i dont know it just didnt work the way it does for him in the other films. after: "you cant handle the truth" he seemed better though, might just have been that line. disapointed to see kevin bacon in it, but i got over that quick. cruise gave his normal performance in his own way. nothing outstanding about the film, pretty cliched moments and story, if its on tv id say watch it instead of something else. its usually pretty cheap, so its not too bad to buy it. EDIT: forgot, just over the weekend i watched Twelve Monkeys for the second time. didnt seem nearly as complicated, in fact i wonder why i thought it was complicated the first time i saw it. still, its a great movie, and i like the ending 8) (i wrote that in my other reviews, didnt i  ). bruce willis was really good in it, just like in pulp fiction and sin city. overall, great movie.

that was the joke you know... i agree with you, downloading IS stealing. funny that people get on the riaa for trying to protect their property. i know if someone came into my house and started taking stuff off the shelves, id be pissed and do something about it. [ignore unless you are bored, just flapping my gums so my mouth doesnt close over *realizes im typing* meh..] i do download a lot of stuff illegally though. i dont pretend to myself that i should be allowed to download, i know its stealing. and i know if i get caught, im probably not going to like it. i basically just dl games, movies, and music (kinda in that order). thing about games is, i just try them for a bit and most of the time i dotn like them so i delete them. if i like it, i go out and buy it. not because im trying to make it seem as if i should be allowed to test these games and only buy the ones i want, but because i always have problems with the cracked ones and its just easier to have the game  . i know its still stealing, its like going into someones house, taking their tv, and then after watching it for a bit, destroying it. im no longer getting value out of it, but i still stole it in the first place. its pretty much the same with movies, except instead of deleting them after i try them, i usually watch all the way through. and i like most of them so 95% of the movies i dl i have bought or are on my wishlist. musics different, i really dont listen to music all that much, and when i get into the mood for it its usually something i already have. i hardly ever dl it, maybe a new song everynow and then. dl'ing music has never lead me to buy a cd though. [/ignore] DOWNLOADING IS STEALING, STEALING IS BAD. dont forget that

new films coming
yeah, i liked the first pirates of the carribean, so ill watch the second. national treasure was a good suprise for me, i didnt expect it to be good but i actually liked it a lot (diane kruger may have had something to do with that  ). King Kong is another one i am looking forward to, directed by peter jackson, and has naomi watts in it :D . Elizabethtown - looks ok, but its directed by cameron crowe and his other movies were pretty good (vanilla sky-GREAT, almost famous, jerry maguire, fast times at ridgemont high were all pretty good) so im going to see it in case its great. only problem is it has kirsten dunst in it, and i hate her. probably going to ruin the movie for me.

Petah Petah Pan!

Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story *Spoilers*
i found out about it about 2 months ago, so i aquired it and watched, then when i went to store and looked on the internet for it, i noticed i couldnt buy it. i guess its out now, so ill have to go get it. i thought it was pretty funny, at first i thought it was going to be like a really drawn out episode, but it was more like watching 3 episodes in a row. it was pretty darn good :D

Settlers - the games.
or the first post in the topic could have actually had information in it, making it a good topic. example: what movies did you last see? starts off asking a question, and then gives his own particular take on the question. well thought out, and it looks like it took more than 30 seconds to make. it starts off a good discussion, everyone knows exactly what the topic is about, and how to answer the question. what you did would be like if all he said was, subject:what movie did you last see? post: before sunrise, before sunset, happy gilmore, psycho, hersenhonger now the rest of the people who post in the topic dont just reply with a list of the last movies they saw. then the whole topic would have just been: post 1: 4 movies listed post 2: 5 movies post 3: 3 movies and so on. you may find reading a list of movies that someone last saw enertaining, but id rather read what they were about and how they thought about them. all i see in this topic: 1 is good, 2 is good, 3 sucks, 2 is good, the rest suck... all im seeing is numbers. (until death_by_pod's post, i had no idea what the game was even about, but now i know its an RTS)
