  1. Moniters have more pxels than the majority of TV's because they need to cram in all the text and so on, all high definition means is more pixels really. Just because something is in HD doesn't mean it'll look better, it can be sharper etc but usually you'll have to have the extra details in the coding.
  2. ....Runescape is already in high definition, HD existed way before the current HD TVs we're seeing.
  3. The new dashboard update will allow you to use most USB keyboards (more or less a must for FFXI I hear) and I'm sure once Live Anywhere is released they'll add yet another dashboard update which will allow us to use USB mice (so we can have the same advantages as PC gamers).
  4. I've even met the creator and if I'm not mustaken he's engaged nowadays, to a woman. Obviously if you think the Badger Badger flash is gay you really should get out more, no doubt it'd do wonders for your social life. On topic: It could perhaps be a reference to both, or even unintentional to one.. or both. Chances are it's done on purpose, Jagex love their little jokes.
  5. Because it was bad and in the past we shouldn't talk about it? No one's idolizing any single person either, it's simple history. It's as simple as mentioning Hitler in WWII. Sure, no one likes him, but we use the name commonly because it was a part of the event. The author of this thread *probably* should have searched around for another topic on this first, but since he posted something, I decided to help him out and answer his question ASAP. EDIT: No one even mentioned the name durail either... For some reason Hitler is censored in RS :? Anyway, on topic, I heard about it a while ago. It's an intresting read but I don't support what they did, it hurt a lot of players.
  6. Good luck on the firecape, if you need them I have some crushed birds nests.
  7. I normally base it on the terms i used to hear on the original Runescape. If there's a high level player acting like the generic noob, I'll call them a froob. If there's a noob acting like the generic noob I'll call them a noob. To decide between low, meduim and high level players I normally go with. 1-45 Low level. 46-90 Medium level. 91+ High level. That is of course purely based on combat, I think you should be able to have a stat replace your combat outside of the wilderness, and certain minigames. Somebody with 99 mining who's a level 3 impresses me more than a level 34 who's got low levelled stats all round, but right now you assume the level 3 is the newer player because you can't see the 99 mining.
  8. The Runescape economy is not identical to the one we have in real life. One of the reasons utilitarian producst make up most of the economy is because they are essential, we *need* to eat, but our runescape characters don't. I'm not going to bother arguing any more points, because you probally know far more about economics than me, but by the looks of it your really just trying to get rares taken out of the game, i can see no good reason for this. The economy is fine as it is (not perfect, but fine) why take out rares and risk throwing the balance?
  9. If you think rares should go because they're too expensive, think of the effects first. Rares are removed from the game/made very cheap, many players who worked hard (many of these being high levels) quit as a result. Many more players stop working hard to earn rares, large decrease in the amount of high alkers, barrowers etc as they already have a barrow set or whatever and now have nothing to aim for. With the combination of high level players quitting who would go to the barrows, and the decreas in players who would still be playing now not going to barrows there are much less barrows pieces coming into the game. Now, barrow spieces go up in price hugely. This will happen with many things, now think about it, what would you rather was way overpriced, some equipment that will help you largely, or a paperhat which you can use to show off your wealth. Partyhats are a blessing to the economy, not a curse.
  10. Nice, I got one too of that monster, I only gots 157 airs, 56 fires and 17 deaths. Only runes!
  11. Hmm, could be quite a fun quest. As for the new randoms, so long as they help the marcoing problem it's all good.
  12. Give it the lower levelled players, after all. 1 mil to a low level, is like 25 mil to a high levelled player. That way the money can help loads of people.
  13. Happy birthday. Torags legs were my first barrows item too :D
  14. I'm sorry, but think how many places raw materials can be obtained easily, then think how many servers there are. Jagex just doesn't have enough players they can trust to assign one to each spot on each server constantly. They do the best they can with the resources they have, but right now they're trying to work on ways to stop the marcoers all together, when a marcoring account gets banned, the marcoer just starts another, it's a minor nuisance. Jagex is working on eliminating marcoing all together (or as close to as possible). As for Jagex sitting back, the macroers are completely destroying runescape's economy, community etc slowly but surely. Now considering Runescape is the Gowers livelyhood as well as a job for all those they employ, I very much doubt they're sittng back and watching it all unravel around them. I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but I wish everybody would stop bashing Jagex, our one and only enemy right now is the marcoing community.
  15. It's the thing! I recently did sheep shearer on my noob, ask the guy about it afterwards :)
  16. Keep up the good work, I try to report autoers whenever possible there's just so many of them.
  17. Surely if Jagex was that desperate for money they'd just make a new J Mod and spawn him 10 billion gp then sell it on Ebay. They wouldn't though.
  18. I quit a while ago because a friend scammed me out of a Guthans spear I just got from the barrows. I decided to quit because of what had happened to the community, even with that spear I still had a full set of gutnans and veracs and a furthur few mil in items. I gave my stuff to the friends that had been loyal to me and said my goodbyes. No point being bitter about it, you had fun for 2 years whilst playing RS I suspect, be thankful.
  19. It's just an estimate on how much they own, since they own the shares (I think) they can't say which one's worth how much. Most of these are just estimates based on what they've been able to pick up. I advise you all to pick up a Sunday Times just to read through the Rich list, it's quite intresting IMO. You know Bill Gates is only the second richest man in the world? Last year the person above him (the owner of Walmart) had almost twice as much as him too.
  20. They don't own ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã32 million in cold hard cash, most of their wealth is tied up in tied up in jagex itself. But still they've dished out 21% of shares so they must be living pretty comfortably. It's a shame they still can't afford a party hat
  21. They're number ten under the 100 richest young people, the 10th richest person in Britain is ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2856 million! I don't actually think they're quite in the top 1000, but still, I can't quite believe Jagex is worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã40 million, I know where I'll be looking if I'm ever wants some stocks and shares :)
  22. I'm sure by subscribing we own shares of something /jk But's it's quite a feat, espically considering Runescape is supposed to be the third biggest MMORPG, or something like that.
  23. While browsing through the Rich List I found this entry under the 100 richest young people (page 78.) #10 = ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã32m Andrew,27, and Paul, 29, Gower. Computer games. Cambridge graduate Andrew invented the popular Runescape game, played online through subscription, which is taking on the sector's big beasts such as Sony. He created the role-playing game while at university and then operated it from his bedroom at his parents' house in Nottingham. The brothers own 79% of their company, Jagex, whose ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2.7m profit on ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5.2m sales in 2005 values it at ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã40m. With past dividends, the enterprising Gowers are worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã32m. (new entry) I was amazed when I saw this, espicially considering Prince William and Prince Harry are also worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã32 million. If you want to check this it's on page 78, but I for one never realised they were so rich. Opinions?
  24. With the recent introduction of pure essence, there has also come quite large changes to runecrafting, I'm sure you'll all know of it. I'm not quite certain what effects these changes will have on runescapes economy or it's runecrafting community, but I'm sure it'll be negative for the most part. So I believe this is the best chance to introduce changes that will benefit the runecrafting community, whilst not benefitting autoers. My main idea is new essence types, for example different sizes, the sizes would reflect the sizes of puches, small, meduim, large and giant. Each would only take up one slot but once crafted the essence would split, the small essence would split into the old amounts, whilst medium essence would create twice as many runes, large three times as many and ginat four times as many, for example. At level 77 runecrafting you can make 8 air runes per small rune essence, 16 for each meduim sized essence, 24 for a large essence, and a huge 32 for a giant essence. You obtain the new types of essence from things such as monster drops, they can also be mined normally on member worlds (they appear like gems appear when mining ores) but you'll need higher mining levels to get bigger chunks of essence. Perhaps it needs to be tweaked, I'm not sure but all opinions are welcome :)
  25. I think it's sad that it's come to the point where jagex has to take a step like this to hurt autoers, I hope jagex is planning to give a new way to get pure essence, of course one that requires a high level, as for many runecrafting was their main way of obtaining funds, and the trained it for a long time. I believe that either f2p should be allowed to mine pure essence when they reach, say 60 mining. Or members and non members alike can get essence faster if they are higher levelled in mining, but the majority of the time is the banking. They could possibly introduce new types of rune essence, like ones that make even more essence, for example one that makes double the amount you would normally make, then they could introduce these as monster drops or something.
