  1. If you feel confident that you can follow my guide then try it by all means. As you only have 75 defence, take 3 extra brews in place of restores as Bree will be hitting you fairly often. If you feel really nervous when you're outside the door - hands shaking etc then I suggest you try a duo trip first. With duo you can get used to Zil's movements and dodging her attacks, while having a friend there to bless your grave. In my opinion sara is the easiest to solo, you won't be getting KOed, even if you mess up a corner or run out of prayer (Zilyana's mage attack DOES NOT hit you when you are outside her melee range, the same as Gaardor's range attack when soloing).
  2. I can duo with you if you'd like, soloing is more or less the same but with duo there is someone where to bless your grave
  3. Feel free to experiment, I prefer not to as they waste HP. I'm a big fan of conserving as much HP as I possibly can. You should be able to get a few kills with 85. Good luck :P
  4. Ranged is far, far more effective. I can extend this guide to include both melee and magic if you wish, range is superior to both.
  5. Zamorak bracers have 0 ranged defence. You could have another brew in that spot, and a difference of maybe 12 Ranged defence won't make a huge difference. It'd make a brew's worth of difference. I see a difference between Verac's and Torag's helms.
  6. Zamorak bracers have 0 ranged defence.
  7. Hmm. Maybe with your defense, but I generally take alot of hits from Bree and for me rock skin is necessary to stay under 1 Brew/Round. As far as sweets go, I have only used them for one trip and they were indeed a pain in the arse, but you do get some summoning-less BH range tanks that would want to try this. :x They can be very persistant :x Whip also protects over whatever helmet you happen to be using, which is half of the reason that I don't use Verac's. I used to use mithril bolts for the KC as I hate wasting diamonds >.<
  8. No, I will change that to: "If you are already range potted, you can drink 4 doses of brew before the next restore, else if you are your natural level you can only drink 3 doses."
  9. Contents: I. Why go solo? II. Melee versus Ranged III. The Opposition III. Ranged Method IV. Melee Method V. Credits ------------------------------------ I. Why go solo? Pros; It is a smoother battle You are in control (no waiting for teams from RSOF >.<) You get 100% profit from drops, and actually get to see the item It gives a better sense of satisfaction You will never get crashed ;) It requires skill and therefore demands respect Cons; Slower kills GP/Kill ratio increases massively Nobody to bless your grave if you die ------------------------------------ II. Melee versus Ranged - Melee wins on speed, I can do a whole trip in 20-25 minutes, getting 2-3 kills and using super potions for the kill count. - Range is less dangerous as the method does not involve running into her melee range. - Range will get far more kills than melee, I've heard that 20 kills is possible - Melee requires more expensive equipment - a Godsword [hide=III. The Opposition (pictures borrowed from tip.it)]The boss; Commander Zilyana Uses melee and magic attacks, a maximum hit of 31 with melee which hits at the same rate as darts (extremely fast, stay out of melee distance). The minions: Bree; Uses range with a maximum of 16; Will STOP attacking you when you as close to the south wall as you can get. Starlight; Uses melee with a max hit of 16; Will STOP attacking you when you as close to the north wall as you can get. Growler; Uses magic with a max of 16; Attacks you from the moment you enter the room, whereever you stand it will attack. [/hide] [hide=IV. Ranged method]Contents: I. Requirements: II. Inventory and Setups III. The Kill Count IV. The Battle V. Video VI. Results I. Requirements: I recommend a miminum of; 85 Range 80 Defence 85 Hitpoints 70 Prayer 52 Summoning (requirement) 70 Agility (required, can't use agility potions or summer pies to boost) 68+ Slayer is an advantage, 83 is a high advantage ------------------------------------ II. Setup Gear: Inventory: If designing your own setup, bear in mind that the most important skill bonuses are ranged offensive, ranged defensive and prayer. For example, Verac's helm is a suitable substitute for Torag's, you gain +3 prayer bonus but loose 6 ranged defence bonus and is quite an expensive item to loose on death. Other items you may consider using include You should be using the spirit terrorbird familiar. If you do not have the required summoning level, replace the spirit terrorbird scrolls with purple sweets. The terrorbird is by far the best familiar, restoring (Your agility level/2)% of energy (a minimum of 35%) and for minimal cost. ------------------------------------ IV. The Kill Count Note, if you have never been to saradomin before, you will need to lay two ropes. These ropes are like the one for the entrance to GWD rather than the KQ's lair - once you lay them they stay there forever. I suggest making a seperate trip to lay the ropes. You will need 40 saradomin kills to enter Zilyana's room, which should be done in the east of the main area using your mithril bolts (as shown in the above picture). Concentrate, do not loose HP here, attack monsters that are already in combat with other NPCs, if the monster you are attacking kills the NPC it was attacking, flick on the appropiate protection prayer. If your slayer level is over 68, kill the Spiritual Warriors and (if 83 or above) Spiritual Mages which are already engaged in combat with Goraks, Werewolves, Ice Fiends, Imps, Hellhounds or Bloodveld. This is best done just to the east of the entrance to the dungeon. If your slayer level is under 68, kill the Knights of Saradomin using the safespot shown below. There are a good number of these NPCs available and KC is not too slow here. You can also attack Priests that are fighting another monster. Once you have 40 KC you need to make your way to Zilyana's room. First, head off to the point of the first rope and kill your terrorbird - this will make it drop everything it was carrying. Quickly run down the first rope, then the second and drop 12 potions (Don't click empty!). Run back up to where you killed your bird and collect the 12 items that it dropped. Now run back down to the bottom level, summon a new bird and dump 11 items inside of it. Pick up the 12 potions that you dropped (And didn't empty!) Here's a pictorial run through: ------------------------------------ V. The Battle Okay, now we're not quite ready to go in. Make sure your are in a non lootshare world with around 1000 players in it, NOT using runescape HD and you have the following graphics setup, the most important thing to note is "Visable levels: Current", this will stop the high walls of Zil's room blocking your vision. The other options are down to your personal preferance. Equip your crossbow and put it in accurate mode. Drink a sip of saradomin brew, super restore and ranging potion, in that order. Wait until Zilyana is out of view then put on the following prayers and enter the room; Protect from Magic Hawk Eye (+10% Range) Rock Skin (+10% Defence) Run forward until you can see Zilyana and attack her to make her follow you (she may do this automatically if she is close enough when you enter the room). Once she is following you she will not stop (thanks to the recent AI update) and moves at a pace somewhere inbetween running and walking. You will need to run a similar path to the below and as you are moving faster than she is, you will be able to fire at her every now and again. If you take the exact path shown in the pictures below, and manage to evade Zilyana's melee attacks you will be taking damage from Bree (ranged minion - max hit of 16) only. Note that the path does not take you along the north wall, this keeps Starlight (melee minion) underneath Zilyana. The red crosses indicate the points where you should be firing at Zilyana. If you go onto the most northern squares in the room Starlight will stop following you and will come at an angle to you once you start moving south, probably doing damage to you in the process. Keep a careful eye on your Hitpoints, Prayer and Run Energy. If you are below 60 HP and your range level is potted, drink 4 doses of brew, 1 dose restore and a dose of range. If your range is at it's natural level, drink 3 doses of brew, 1 dose restore and a dose of range. While potting it is vitally important to keep moving along the same path around the room, avoiding Zilyana's melee attacks. The is done by taking 1-2 doses at a time as you are running, then clicking on the minimap to your next location, drinking as you move. If your energy falls below 60%, use a summoning scroll as you move. If at any time you have 0% run energy, teleport immediately. After a few minutes Zilyana should be dead and if you did it right, you have used less than 2 restores and 1 brew. Run to the centre of the north wall to stop Starlight attacking you. Kill Bree first, using longrange if you have to to stay on the north wall. Once Bree is dead, take off Rock Skin and Hawk Eye prayers and attack Growler until it has about 10-20% hp remaining. Run to the north-east corner of the room and move the camera so it focuses on the centre of the room, where Zilyana will respawn. Have your prayer tabs up and be ready to put on Protect from Magic, Rock Skin and Hawk Eye (in that order) . When she spawns run to the south-east corner immediately putting your prayers on as you go. Kill Zilyana using the same method as before, avoiding the north wall as best you can. Once you have killed her for the second time, run to the north wall and finish off Growler (using longrange) then take off Rock Skin, put on Protect from Range and kill Bree. Run to the north-west corner, click on the altar to pray then run back to the starting position (north-east corner). Factors helping you to stay longer; - Being able to dodge the melee attacks of both Zilyana and Starlight skillfully - Adapting to any changes in the minion's behaviour; be flexible, for example Bree may be out of your crossbow range in which case you should kill Starlight on the southern wall instead of being hit by both Bree and Starlight. - Your stats, the higher the better! - Not panicing and keeping the motion as smooth as possible. ------------------------------------ VI. Video; Full quality video; Putfile (Recommended) FileFront Youtube embed ( ) GrV5iRgVflY ------------------------------------ VII. Results; With my stats (99 range, 91 Defence, 98 Hp, 70 Prayer) I usually get 9-12 kills per trip; although my record is 15. I believe that the trick to getting the most kills possible lies with how you kill the minions efficiently after each Zilyana kill. I have soloed somewhere in the region of 500, gaining 5 Saradomin Swords, 4 Shards in the process. Still waiting on that hilt :P Testimonials: Solo Swords [/hide] [hide=V. 10. Thanks, had 99 since before hunter came out (Hates chinners).
  11. ^ Same. But I might do some more slayer, it's so addictive. Did you wore a ring of wealth when you got your whips? 10/10 that's an nice level to have. Yeah, I'm a ring of wealth man.
  12. Yeah, my plan was get 85 slayer then stay at abbys for maxed melee. lol ;)
  13. Pics uploaded now :) Also, I got a solo sara sword that same day :)
  14. You lucky [wagon] :'( 480 solo zilyana's and counting. No hilts
  15. For the fastest kills you'll have to use prayer and get around 250 kills with no familiar. There are 5 respawns just outside of K'ril's room
  16. Alternatively use the safespot. Nice find though :geek:
  17. I was thinking maybe in a team of 4; 3 rangers 1 mage. Barrage hits well on zil with good mage bonus.. Wouldn't Ice Blitz be better? It's much cheaper (about 1200 for Blitz compared to about 1800 for Barrage), and only four less damage. The reduced freeze time won't matter because the mage would be constantly hitting it. Yeah OK, definitely worth a shot :] Will try it after 85 slayer, I'll mage :)
  18. Works a treat, it's just [bleep]ing expensive lol Tbh, I always range her, not really a fan of melee
  19. I was thinking maybe in a team of 4; 3 rangers 1 mage. Barrage hits well on zil with good mage bonus..
  20. Yeah you have it spot on there. All it changes is for ranger groups ;) Us solo/duoers are fine :)
  21. Runescape has users in mexico/brazil? :P
