Ok... What makes an activity, in RS or otherwise, a "good moneymaker"? Low cost and (relative) ease of production, high profits, a steady market, and easy access to materials. Like alching yew longs. Although what used to be a fairly popular way to train fletching and magic has now been practically crashed thanks to pures buying the yews off of fletchers to alch, you can still break even if you play your cards right. That is, at current prices. Yew log = ~275 gp (F2P Sources) Nature = 300 gp (Members source) Bowstring = ~180 gp (Members source) Total: 755 gp per bow Alch value: 768 gp ea Profit: 13gp A loss of 17 gp per with the market at its current power. Now lets take f2p out of the equasion, and as you predicted, the value of a yew log goes up. Yew log = ~550 gp Nature = 300 gp Bowstring = ~180 gp Total: 1030gp per bow Alch value: 768gp ea Profit: -268gp The result of removing f2p? Nobody buys yews, except for perhaps the ocasional merchant working towards a firemaking cape. Yews lose almost all value. Now, besides the direct effect to yews, there's a related effect on other areas of the market as well. More players shift from making yew longs to magic, increasing demand and price, and the marginal profit that can be made from magic longs goes into the negatives. This is just one of the many ways the economy would be affected by removing f2p. Go in-depth, and you'd find many, many other ways that would pull members up short. And personally, I know I would not be a member had it not been for the time I had spent in f2p. I think people would still try to buy yews, but at stupider amounts of money because it is much faster to level up fletching with yews than maples and willows. I completely agree with everything you say. Basically the lower jobs are for the f2p. If those jobs disappeared, the bottom of the pyramid would disappear, destroying a lot of p2p.

When I'm woodcutting (willows right now) I usually don't need to take breaks because I'm pretty much hanging out with my (non-rl) friends. That really helps to pass the time. Chat and chop and bank :D The occasional breaks I take are usually for some food or just to rest my eyes every half hour or so. (I hate it when I play too much and get a head ache...)

+1 Maybe you could add that some general stores have huge masses of willows for 13 gp (i think) each because autoers usually sell there. I'm not sure if this is in member worlds, but this would save a lot of money if you buy your way there since it'd only be around 5 gp each willow log (if you sell back for 8 after you fletch it). But I could be wrong on the numbers...

haahaa, I'm worse: 2 Years 9-10 months 1131 total 1 dragon drop (from moss giants during my one month of member) 3 mill overall including items hacked once - lost 3 mill, sold santa for 500k, decided to buy zamorak armor over santa hat when they were the same price #-o ... I pretty much hate myself for those decisions...

There was a rise in TT people because of the new TT, but after a while, they all dispersed. If you are able to get even one third age piece, you would be pretty rich =P~ , but once people noticed the odds were against them, they simply just gave up and went back to whatever they were doing.

I only have 2k from the lessers, but those 2k have supplied my high alching for a long time (too lazy to use staff), so really I would probably have 10k... (I know, I don't have that much...)

I'd buy it because I would end up selling it after a month or two. I would not risk it in wildy, but would be willing to use it anywhere else. I guess 250k would be worth spending on it because it's not exactly easy to lose unless you die a lot to npcs :anxious:

I've never tried, but I don't think fire cape would be worth 8.8 mill or anything even remotely close to it. I know it's good, but I would never spend that much money on it (If i had that much to begin with :oops: ) Anyways, I've spent 0 on it because the only time I went in, I can right out because I didn't know if I would lose all my items there if I died. Really, I didn't even know what it was :oops:

Added count for the poll (2:3, willows to yews)... I voted for willows because... well... I like speed :P Anyone else want to vote? I also updated the blog for today and yesterday. I keep forgetting it #-o Should be getting a nice load of levels tomorrow. A ton of almost complete levels are waiting to be completed. (18 ess to be crafted = runecrafting level, 2 more sapphires cut = crafting level, 96 fire bolts = mage level, 50ish Flesh Crawlers to ranged level, 100ish Flesh Crawlers to strength level)... I'm getting there, but what I really need is more woodcutting levels. I will definitely be going back to those come next week. 10k to level 97 :D

Hmmm... is Honest 1 really worth the ransom? If he dies... then he'll respawn in lumby/fally... That's not too bad, right?

I also hate the coif. Makes my head look so ugly that I wear non-stat giving lederhosen hat how :|
