Let's Turn the Tables for Once.
I don't wanna get into this subject much but I'd just like to point out that the US isn't filthy stinking rich and everyone here isn't driving a cadillac or ferrari. They say statistically that 1 in 5 children in the US don't receive proper nutrition and I"ve know some of them personally and watched them sit and talk at lunch during school instead of eating because they couldn't afford food. The poverty rate in this country is like 10-20%. More in some areas, less in others. That's a lot of people who don't always have all the food and supplies they need. So every dollar the US spends helping other countries is a dollar they could spend helping their own people. So there is no reason for anyone to complain that the US doesn't give enough when they could easily choose to not send the money and spend it on their own people.

Know any cool, almost-never used English words?
Well that's the definition I got for satiated and so I just copy/pasted it as is, but I know what you mean. It gives the same definition for satiated, satiate, sate and sated, I figured everyone could figure it out on their own.

Know any cool, almost-never used English words?
I've played quite a few text based roleplaying games and since everything has to be described in words they tend to use a lot of seldom seen works to describe things. That and I've done some post format roleplaying as well. Here are a few I remember offhand. Cacophony: Jarring, discordant sound; dissonance: heard a cacophony of horns during the traffic jam. Aureate: Of a golden color; gilded. Proficient: Having or marked by an advanced degree of competence, as in an art, vocation, profession, or branch of learning. Virtuoso: A musician with masterly ability, technique, or personal style. A person with masterly skill or technique in the arts. Peckish: Ill-tempered; irritable. Chiefly British. Somewhat hungry. Satiated: To satisfy (an appetite or desire) fully. Anachronism: The representation of someone as existing or something as happening in other than chronological, proper, or historical order. Avarice: Immoderate desire for wealth; cupidity. Esoteric: Intended for or understood by only a particular group. Tintinnabulation: The ringing or sounding of bells.(some of you might recognize this one from "The Bells" by Edgar Allan Poe) Lurid: Causing shock or horror; gruesome. Marked by sensationalism: a lurid account of the crime. See Synonyms at ghastly. Glowing or shining with the glare of fire through a haze: lurid flames. Sallow or pallid in color. Soliloquy: A dramatic or literary form of discourse in which a character talks to himself or herself or reveals his or her thoughts without addressing a listener. I had to read the book Wuthering Heights for school and ran across several including this one. Penetralium: Which doesn't even have a definition on dictionary.com but they did have the definition for Penetralia which is: The innermost parts of a building, especially the sanctuary of a temple. There are more but this is all I can remember right now.

Gas Prices
Ahhh durrr....of course other people besides americans had such price increases. My point was that inflation has continued to rise without wages going up and I don't know how that compares to Britain. Are you attempting to claim that all economies are exactly the same? The economies of little poor african and south american countries is exactly the same as America? Is that why millions of them starve to death every year? You're trying to make it sound like I'm stupid when you can't even read and decipher what my post was about. I did have economics in highschool and I obviously know more about it than you if you think just because they have inflation over there too, that our economic situation is exactly the same. After all, some of their taxes go towards paying for their healthcare which is one less expense that they have to pay personally. We have to pay for our own healthcare here or pay every month to an insurance company and we still get a ton of taxes. And those taxes don't pay for our healthcare...they pay for....wars in iraq or some crap. Hard for me to understand? Who do you think you're talking down to and why did you take it upon yourself to flame me for no apparent reason? Do you really need to berate people online just to feel smarter and tougher irl? If so, that's sad. I said I "WORKED" at a grocery store. Is the -ed at the end of the word too hard to grasp? That means that the word is in the past tense. Or if you still can't grasp it, it means that I did work, in the past. When I was 16 and still in school. You can't get many other jobs when you're 16, in school and have no work experience. Excuse me for starting at the bottom of the ladder and working my way up like everyone else other than the rich kids. I'm 19 now, and I'll be 20 in less than a month and I haven't worked there since I finished my courses at the local vocational school in computer maintenance/repair and networking. I didn't vote for him and neither did half of the population so don't lecture us about what our dummy president does. Don't you think we know what he does considering that we live in the country he runs to terribly? Just because you pay more doesn't mean you're worse off. If they started selling cars and gas in the poorest countries in the world, they could sell gas for 10 cents a gallon and it wouldn't make them better off than americans because they still couldn't afford to buy a car and drive it. America is getting to that point now. If gas goes up too much more, the average person won't be able to drive and feed themselves, they'll have to pick one or the other. That is hard on the economy because people have to drive to their jobs, sometimes for many miles becuase they can't find work right around home. Not to mention they've let the railroad industry decline over the years and have become dependant on trucks to haul goods all over the US and with gas prices going up(including diesel) it's going to make all of our goods go up and wages will still be stagnant. I don't, my last car got 25-30mpg. The one I'm about to buy gets probably 20-25. I'm fairly certain that I didn't say anywhere in my post that I drive a 12mpg car. Yeah, I guess you fabricated that one to make me look stupid? Real good job, give yourself a pat on the back for being an idiot who flames with no regard for common sense. Everyone back to posting normally, ignore the flamer, his mother never taught him how to play nice with the other little kiddies.

Gas Prices
They've been doing what they do for a long time and they know how to do it. Some of the "gas shortages" in this country were totally man made. There was no shortage, it was just politics from what I've heard. They know how high they can raise it without passing the breaking point where most people just won't be able to afford to drive anymore. That and like someone said earlier, they raise the price sky high, then drop it again to a price that's only slightly higher than it was to start and people relax and go back to buying gas because it seems like they're saving a ton when in reality the prices are sitll up. Of course they do their best to squelch alternatives. They wanna ride this wave of profits until the very end. Sadly though when the oil industry collapses it won't be the board of directors at exxon that's suffering, it'll be all the employees who will be out of work that will suffer. The higher-ups can just cash in their chips and go invest their money in new sources of energy and ride the new wave of profit. They've proven the usefulness of ethanol ages ago but has anything ever come of it? Not much, although most brits probably don't realize it but your gas there isn't all petroleum, they mix it with ethanol and other things to give it a higher octane rating and reduce the amount of actual gasoline they use. It also raises their profit margain. They wouldn't use ethanol in top fuel dragsters if it was a weak fuel, it has a higher octane rating than gas for crying out loud. The only problem is that ethanol burns slower and so it runs better in engines that have a long stroke. Sadly most cars we americans drive have these little 4 cylinder engines with duel overhead cam and a million valves per cyclinder that make all their power at high rpms and have to move the fuel through real fast to get those rpms. Currently in the US all the major car manufacturers make cars that can run on at least a percentage of ethanol in the fuel and work at 100% efficiency. Many will run on 75% ethanol. All of them could run on 100% ethanol but some vehicles arn't as efficient with ethanol or potentially deteriorate faster because gas has a slight lubricant property so it helps to keep the pistons and everything lubricated at high rpms wheras ethanol doesn't. But still, ethanol could be used and it wouldn't take a huge amount of effort on the part of the car makers to develop cars that work perfectly with all ethanol fuel. Who knows, they may be able to blend ethanol with lubricants to alleviate any worries of accelerated wear and tear. Some people need to drive 40 miles to work. Thats like... 3 hours on a bike? Oil companies will raise the price to the limit JUST under the price where people act to get a cheaper way to transport themselves. Now they have an ideal excuse called "Katrina". If you put any 2 words with that, you can instantly make an excuse for anything. It the magical word. Kinda like wages. 8) They pay you barely enough to not quit. Then you work barely enought to not get fired. People do need to ride bikes or run more but it's just not a practical means of transportation for most. If anything it's just excercise to keep in shape. If you work in an office you really think you could ride a bike in a suit and look presentable by the time you make it to work? What if it rains when you need to get to work? SUV's have their purpose but americans drive tons of them, getting in some cases less than 10 miles per gallon. My dad had a mobile welding business for a while and required huge trucks to haul around the gear. One of them got like 4-6 miles per gallon. Gas prices were way less then too or his business would've really been hurting(he went out of business anyway). Ford and GM are paying the price for it too because people are buying suv's less and less because of rising gas prices and they've both suffered huge loses this year. A friend of mine was at a plant where they build some vehicles and he watched them crushing brand new F-150 trucks and harley davidson motorcycles. They weren't selling them and if they crush em they can take it as a full tax write off for the full value of the vehicle.

Gas Prices
Well I'm glad to see I got some responses, usually no one responds to my posts:-P I dunno how the US economic situation compares to britain but just because you guys pay more for gas there doesn't mean you're in worse shape. Minimum wage here is like 5.10 an hour, most grocery stores like walmart, krogers and meijers all pay less than 8.00 per hour for all starting positions. As far as i know meijers pays the same as they did before and when I worked there I started at 5.75 an hour as a bagger and cashiers started at 6.45. Some people work at meijers full time and that's their only income. Not to mention american cars have never been known for their great gas mileage. For people who are working 45 hours a week at only 8 dollars an hour they're getting a measly 380 a week with a third of that taken out for taxes, an extra dollar or more per gallon of gas means a lot. The price of everything has gone up for years now with the average income in this country staying around the same. When my dad was my age he bought a brand new harley davidson motorcycle(a smaller one) for a few hundred bucks, a new sports car was usually well under 5000 bucks, perhaps under 3000 depending on the car. His first job started at like 1.75 an hour. My first job started at 5.75 an hour just 3 years back. That's not a big increase considering that a new harley(even the cheapest ones) are over 6000 and even the cheapest of new cars are between 6000 and 13000 bucks and if you want a sports car, prepare to pay over 20,000. I wouldn't consider water to be a major pollutant.....it might put more water vapor into the air but I'm fairly certain it'd be a managable amount and far less harmful than fumes created by burning hydrocarbons. As I said though, they have working hydrogen fuel cell cars that recycle the water instead of discharging it as exhaust and just seperate it back into oxygen and hydrogen, then recombine it in the original process. You could use water for fuel instead of having to have oxygen and hydrogen seperated and stored.

Gas Prices
While those who were hit by katrina struggle to survive, the rest of us have to struggle to afford to drive our cars(which isn't too bad in comparison to katrina). Some people have to spend all the money they get from work just to get to work, it's ridiculous. What do you guys think? Where is gas headed? 3.50 a gallon? 4.00? Higher? What about the cause of this current hike. Do we really get that much of our gas from the gulf region or is it just an excuse to price gouge? How many think we should be working harder to switch over to all renewable energy sources? What sources would those be? I personally like ethanol and hydrogen fuel cell cars. Ethanol can be made from almost any plant matter including a lot of the stuff we throw away, and we can always grow more plants. We can't always grow more oil and besides, petrolium polutes, ethanol doesn't. Hydrogen fuel cells are kinda cool, currently they suck though because you gotta have raw hydrogen and oxygen to run em. Potentially though they could be run on water, using a weak electrical charge to seperate the water into hydrogen and oxygen then using those to power the fuel cell.

Funny Examines!
While doing hazeel cult quest, there is a crate in the same little room as the chest where you get the hazeel scroll and if you search it you find buttons. If you examine the buttons it says "Not Di-ck Whittington's helper at all! I have no idea what it means. Anyone here know what this is talking about?

My Solution to Smithing and Other Problems
You all do realize that there haven't always been level requirements, right? I don't think there ever should've been because if you can afford something, you should be able to wear it. I know several people that are low combat but have high skill totals and have lots of money. If they can afford to buy really expensive armor, why shouldn't they be allowed to wear it? Is the armor going to somehow reject them and come flying off if they put it on? Last I knew, armor wasn't enchanted with a magical repelling force. The level requirements definately don't need to be raised. As far as new smithable sets, yeah that would be nice but they'd have to change stats around because dragon is meant to be right above rune so if they released a new set of smithable equipment above rune it'd make dragon basically obsolete. Barrows already makes dragon crappy, more sets of smithable eq that's better than dragon would just make dragon utterly crappy and only rich people that wanna show off their wealth would buy it.

Idea for a quick highscores.
I don't intend on using anything for runescape made by anyone other than jagex because I don't know whether or not they'll steal my password. Depending on whether it's illegal to do so or not, I might make a client for my own use if I start practicing programming again.

New Trading System
I didn't mean I just thought up the idea because I'm sure someone else has suggested it before, but it just occured to me personally.

A really long time ago (prior to RS2 beta, pre2002, etc...)
Yeah, I remember specifically what you're talking about. It even changed whole phrases and the way they were said...like they were trying to make the players talk in an old fashioned way(thee thou shalt etc) but it was massively unpopular cuz it screwed up almost everything you would try to say. I remember the null players but I can't remember what caused that. I feel like it's in my noodle somewhere but buried under other memories. When someone says it I'll probably kick myself. Because addy body used to be so expensive in champions guild most people just had mith bodies with addy full helm and plate legs. There was no where to buy kites past steel in a shop so you could only get what people could make and not many could make adam kites when I was playing so most people had mith kites in their set. The extremely uber players had ruby ammies, addy 2 handers or addy battle and kite, addy plate, full helm, and legs before rune. I think when I started no one could make addy 2 handers yet, it was a bit later. I still recall getting a rl friend of mine to start playing, and showing off to him how I could hit a 6 with an addy battle. I recall people like bluerose getting paid in runes and cash or only runes, cuz most people didn't have much cash. That's why bluerose was 99 magic a llllloooonnnngggg time ago.

A really long time ago (prior to RS2 beta, pre2002, etc...)
Anyone remember the old glitch where you could get outside of the walls somehwere(varrock castle i think) on the second floor and then wander around in the black area outside of all upstairs areas. One guy made a char just for that and named it wallmonster. I remember seeing the wall monster several times while upstairs in various buildings.

New Trading System
And then there were idiots; angels wept bitterly for they had created something destestable and the sky was filled with gloom and stupid posts. Someone else did post a suggestion like this recently and I think some sort of system like this would be great. Something I just thought of that they could add to the current trade system is a little chat window within the trade window so you don't have to close out the trade window to be able to see what the other person is saying in a really busy area like server 2 fally east bank.

decorated weapons/armour
I'm doubtful that you could "cut" gold with a knife despite it's being a soft metal but even if you cut it, it'd be chunks, not dust. I have no idea how they make gold dust irl but my guess would be that special machinery grinds the gold into powder. Anyway, I think the gemmed armor is a good idea, would provide some extra variety and a new way for smithers and crafters to make some extra money.

Cooking All option!
That's pure stupidity. There wasn't an "x" option on anything in rsc but that didn't stop them from making tons of stuff easier to do with less clicking on rs2. Why should cooking be any different? Jagex didn't ask me before they started changing stuff for rs2, so why should your opinion count for beans? A fraction of the time? Please, you must be kidding me, unless you click like a snail, an autocook feature wouldn't cook that much faster than you. It wouldn't result in them getting any more exp, or make getting the lobs to cook any easier. It would make it much less irritating to cook and it would only boost the speed a tiny amount. If they didn't drop the exp on every other skill when they reduced the clicking then they shouldn't on cooking either. All they have to do is buy tons of lobs then cook to 99? Isn't that what you did? The only difference is they would have to click less and save themselves the expense of wearing out half a dozen mice. If you whine this much about cooking being too easy to raise you must think we need to scrap all of rs2 because everything on rs2 is easy to raise....at least from the perspective of what it was like on rsc.

Idea for a quick highscores.
Some people(like me) have computers that lag up when we open extra windows and it'd be easier to have some sort of in game or in client function for checking high scores. For whoever said that they don't want someone to know their stats in wildy, that's stupid because they can find out anyway if they have a window open for highscores already(which they should do if they're a smart pker) so it's not like it would matter. There's been a lot of conjecture about adding in game options for examine or things like this to check people's skills. It'd be nice if they even included when you started playing so that I could show people how long I've been playing runescape. It'd come in really handy the next time a lvl 100+ combat calls me a noob. I could just ask them to kindly check my time playing so they can see that I've been playing twice as long as them or more.

wrapping paper
How sad is it when the runescape communicity is so filled with scammers that when anyone suggests an idea everyone immediately starts thinking of how it could be used in scams. On topic though I think it's a good idea. I would be a neat little way to give someone a surprise present and not a difficult thing for jagex to add, you should suggest it, like someone said, around christmas time. Having to pay to get it wrapped and only being able to give it to the person it's addressed too on the little card is an excellent idea. That would all but eliminate any scamming with this idea and anyone who still manages to get scammed with such a system is dumb and deserves to be scammed. The only thing I can think of to suggest is that when the package is traded it should have a small popup like the wildy warning that says something along the lines of "There is no way to tell what is in a wrapped package and so you should never pay anyone for such an item. If they want to sell you something, make them unwrap it and sell the item itself."

How about a "One Ring" quest?
Parodies are legal or the owner of the rights to james bond would've sued the ever living crap out of the people who made the austin powers movies. As long as it's not an exact copy of the storyline it's not plagiarism. Nobody sued Jagex for Romeo and Juliet or Fenkenstrain's(if you can spell frankenstein with the same letters) castle. However, as much as I like parodies, I don't think it'd be practical to make a parody quest of lotr because the storyline is too large and intricate, it'd take a series of quests to parody it properly. Anything else would be half hearted and pathetic.

close
I don't know that there would be any benefit to having servers for players that have been playing longer although I wouldn't mind there being like 1 server that only allows older players so that I could prove I"ve been playing a long time. I'm only 96 combat and I've been playing 4 years. I get called a noob by a ton of people in the 90's and higher but most of them have been playing for around a year or maybe less, but I have no way of proving my claim and Jagex refuses to tell you the age of your char or hours played because according to a customer support query of mine they answered, it could be used to help people selling their accounts.
-
What do you think of my idea, i think its great!
Hmmmm, some good ideas here. I like the idea of a new trade system in addition to the current one. It seems so old fashioned to stand around in massive groups where you can't even see what's being said because the text flies by so fast, trying to shout out what you're selling or buying over and over hoping that someone will actually be able to see your words in an ocean of text.

Abyssal Whip Special
Even though I don't have a whip yet, I agree that their special should be better. Your suggestion would be very good and yet not overpowered if it was like a 55% drain rate or so.

DAMN POWER SURGES!!!
Yeah, dieing on a game isn't half as bad as your computer getting fried by a hickup in the power. You might wanna buy a surge protector that does just your phone line and then get a ups like you mentioned because it'd suck if your computer just stopped working and you(or your parents, whoever) had to go spend 1000 bucks on a new computer. The other benefit of a ups besides keeping surges from damaging your computer, is that if the power goes out you can still finish what you're doing in game and log out, then shut down the computer before the power runs out. Even with a ups though if you don't have some sort of surge protector for your phone line a [bleep]e of electricity on your phone line could destroy your modem. Unless of course you have cable internet....

Funny Examines!
There's so many pages and I have so little time so I'm just gonna hope this one hasn't been posted already. When examining the flower tulips it says "can this talk?" ....you know....tulips....two lips like a mouth?....you know, cuz a mouth can talk? clever, ain't it?

who is the oldest player on runescape?
Ages ago on rsc I knew someone who was 88 and played. Well that's what they said anyway, there isn't really any way to know for sure but they were a lot higher in levels than me and thus didn't need anything from me so I doubt they would've just been making it up to get my sympathy or anything like that. Anyway I think her rsname was thelibrarian and she said her heart was bad so sitting at home was all she could do. I can't find her on high scores so I guess she doesn't still play....she might have even died, who knows.
