When you grow up, that becomes something women really appreciate. They may act like they enjoy the flirting/dirty talk/touching, but it's (mostly) because they're desperate for some sort of male affirmation. I prefer agape love - unconditional. No long-term relationship will work if you love the person on conditions.

Jays, as I'm from near Toronto. However, they've been hit by injures HARD this season, so it kind of sucks watching a farm team play in the Jays uniforms.

So following our instincts is "right"?
  4. Anything by Kingrazo. Here's his avatar just to whet your appetites; do a search on his username and you'll see his sweet stuff :) not to mention he did all of my signatures. Plus my current signature :)
  5. The fact that marriage today is not the same as marriage centuries ago. The definitions have changed a bit. Centuries ago marriage was more for practical reasons than anything. You married someone that had child-bearing potential so that you could get help on the family farm/business. Today marriage is all about love, commitment, and friendship; something that requires a certain amount of maturity. That wasn't directed at you. But for the record I think cultural bias is natural. People are generally inclined to think their way of doing things is correct. It doesn't change the fact that this needs to be stopped. I thought we were talking about whether or not it was right to try and stop these evils from happening, not whether or not it should be a priority.
  6. That is the reason why it wouldn't be a very deep philosophical discussion. You need alternate views to challenge and stimulate your thought process. I guess i'm not really a big philosophical person. If that were the case I would love to discuss things with MPC or you, insane. Oh, I wasn't trying to get my name brought up, nor was I trying to be critical. I was just trying to make a little point, that's all.

  8. Why don't I like Sony? Their unsavoury advertising practices. For example, announcing a delay in the PS3 a few weeks after Christmas. Then announcing another delay a few months later. It's obvious they knew how far behind schedule they were to begin with but waited until people hadn't bought rival consoles to announce how far off schedule they were. Not to mention how stupid it was to price it at $800.
  9. What's wrong with spitting outside if you're by yourself? It evaporates, no?
  10. So if not forcing our views on others is RIGHT, then forcing our views on others must be WRONG, make them absolutes? It all comes down to what rights we as humans have and as some believe, are born with. I don't believe in natural rights. Since to me a right is not a right unless there is a law there to enforce it, as otherwise it holds no purpose. Since i am more of a utilitarian, i am inclined to go with "rights-based interests". That is basically if we conceive a rule such as "all humans are equal" it creates utility on a universal scale and becomes a right when enforced by law. That's only useful if everyone is utilitarian. What happens when you come up against a Kantian, or an absolutist?
  11. So if not forcing our views on others is RIGHT, then forcing our views on others must be WRONG, make them absolutes? In your eyes. I think the millions of saved children's lives might be justification for the majority of people with, you know, hearts.
  12. Then if we are able to justify not forcing our values on people, it would imply that we believe not forcing our values on people is the right thing to do?
  13. Nope, it's identifying that we have a cultural bias and that our own culture is subjective. Working within this framework of cultural bias, it is impossible to justify being able to force values on another culture. It isn't a question of whether it is right or wrong. Is it possible to justify not forcing your values on another culture?
  14. And isn't the idea that forcing your values on another culture is wrong just another culturally relative value of your own?
  15. There wouldn't be a sex trade if there weren't buyers. You may blame the foreign countries, but the problem is largely here at home where customers are generated through sex-filled media/desensitization and the idea that "sex is okay wherever, whenever".
  16. It's not the safety of your sons that matters in this situation. The safety is for the people in the car that your son smashes into because he's drunk and too young to make an intelligent decision about driving drunk, when he is drunk.
  17. You can control how hard your program is in your 3rd/4th years. Going into my 3rd year I could make my year extremely easy by taking easy electives, but instead I'm looking for a challenge and taking some of the harder courses our Computer Science dept. offers.
  18. Woot :D
  19. It depends where you're going to school, and it depends what kind of institution it is (college, university, etc)
  20. Is that code for the DW Mafia? :P Hell no. I avoid DW like the plague. :)

And what do you think a requirement of that is? What MPC said. I've already said he'd be right in a sense but then people would latch on and come to the misinformed conclusions about satanists I've given. I'm not denying there's selfishness, it's just annoying how people see it as an excuse to come in and assume everyone who follows the philosophy follows it like an unbreakable law or something. Maybe I'm just being ignorant, but what is the point of following a philosophy if it's not law to you? What's the worth of a philosophy that can't be followed all the time? It's like saying "I'm a Satanist sometimes, but when I don't feel like it I'm not"...?

A moral philosophy that does nothing but accurately describe the state of society is kind of worthless. Saying "this is the way things are" is not a moral statement. Saying "this is the way things should be" is a moral statement, and if everybody (tried to) act out Satanism this world would be an awful place. It can't be universalized. There aren't enough resources, not to mention it denies all the virtues we admire in other people.

I don't understand... It promotes selfishness and indulgence. We love being selfish, and we love indulging, we just hate it when other people are the same way. The very selfishness we act out in our everyday lives we loathe in other people.
