  1. Donavon Frankenreiter The Postal Service Death Cab for Cutie Muse Try these four. You'll get four completely different types of music, and if you like what you hear, just tell me (pm is fine), and I'll give you more bands like the one(s) you like. I would suggest not getting too much punk rock, as one song is just like the other.
  2. I still watch it every lunchtime :P Ironically, I'm watching it right now.
  3. Group A will never accomplish goal Q. Therefore group A should stop trying. There; I just generalized it for you. Insert whatever group with whatever goal and you will understand my point that just because something appears impossible doesn't mean it should be given up on.
  4. I don't think the UN is ever going to be able to stop wars, so what's the point in trying? (Yes this was already used, but apparently it needed repetition). LOL...I don't think it's the same thing... Heh, I don't think you understand the concept of an analogy.

Well my only qualm with hollowbodies is that they feedback like hell if you're using anything over a light gain. If you're just using light distortion/overdrive you should be cool. I definitely prefer the clean blues sound to the distorted, so no problems there. Also, the thinline's got dual humbuckers which makes it more versatile than most other hollowbodies. But thanks for the info on Mexican standards, that's pretty encouraging information.

Yea, as I said earlier, I'm looking at the Telecasters as my #1 at the moment. I really like the look/feel/sound of the Thinline, a semi-hollowbody version of the telecaster (1 f-hole). Apparently even though it's hollowbody it gives good distorted sound, so it would be fairly versatile as well as giving extremely nice clean sound (as all hollowbodies do).

I don't like the look of the strat, and finding an American Strat for under $1000 would be tough - I could always wait a few months. (I could get a Mexican strat but I would rather go high-class and not have to worry about anything)
  9. Firefox blocks banner ads. I'm sure Opera would as well, but as I've never tried it, I wouldn't know.
  10. I'd go with FireFox. I love it! Extensions, extensions, extensions.
  11. Advice? Quit getting drunk - maybe by the time you're sober you'll be mature enough for a serious relationship.

Well, it's that time. The time that every acoustic guitar player eventually comes to. The time to buy an electric. I told myself at one point in my life that I would never, ever buy an electric guitar. I was going to stay clean, pure, unplugged. But, some diversity in my musical tastes came along - bands like John Mayer Trio opened my eyes to the beauty of blues guitar, and alas, it is time to go electric. So, I'm going to give the music and movies board a shot - I want to hear what you have to say about Fender electric guitars. Yes, Fender - I've got a Fender acoustic and I love it, and would like to keep supporting them. I've got a fairly versatile price range - I'm looking to spend from $500-$1000 CAD on a Fender electric. I'm currently looking at either the American Telecaster or the Telecaster Thinline. The Thinline is a Mexican make but it is a semi-hollow body, which makes it a little more ideal for blues than the American standard. So if anyone with experience in Fenders would like to offer some advice it would be most appreciated. `insane.
  13. I'm a little disappointed that certain members have taken to petty jokes and insults. Not only is it pointless and rude, it partially invalidates their previous arguments and reasoning. Can I ask, as a member of these forums (not a moderator, or a Christian) that we respect other's viewpoints and not resort to childish action to get our views across? Unless our views are actually childish - if that is the case, then keep acting like such.
  14. The Bible never states the seventh day ending. Thus, if the sixth day was the creation of man, then the sixth day would have ended as soon as man was created, or, evolved let's say. We could currently still be in the seventh day - or time period. Thus if we use time periods - the evolution into what we could call a "human", might have not ended, but hit a certain milestone at the end of the sixth day. If everything else after up until and including now, has been and is the seventh day still, it could make sense. It sounds complicated but is really quite simple, and it may work.
  15. In Canada there is a tariff added onto every blank CD bought - around 18 cents per CD - the money from this tariff goes straight to the copyright association of Canada (or whatever is closest to that name), and they distribute some of that money towards the recording industry. Of course it isn't near what they would get from an actual CD purchase, but it is some compensation. (Note: This tariff is applied to all data storage items like blank CDs, DVDs, MiniDisks, but NOT .mp3 players, making it illegal to put unpurchased tracks on an .mp3 player in Canada)
  16. I think what Barihawk said was that eating the fruit of the tree of good and evil made them mortal from their original immortality, and God didn't want them reversing the effect?
  17. This would imply Adam was not intended to live forever. Insane, i am getting from that verse that his immortality ended when he ate from the tree. Gotcha. There's no way to tell, but there's no way to tell otherwise. Just because you have a degree doesn't mean you're right. :P But I agree the insult was harsh.
  18. Easy one. Man was originally created to live forever in Eden. When Adam dies, the Bible says he had lived almost 1000 years (forgot the number, like 965?) AFTER leaving the Garden. The price for Adam's sin was mortality. Where do you get after leaving the garden? My bible says Adam lived a total of 930 years. It doesn't say anything about before or after doing anything. It's ok, logic. He doesn't know what he's talking about. His point on Adam's sin costing him mortal death is correct, for we all died spiritually on that die resulting in the possibility of mortal death, but everything else he said is wrong or, at the very least, unBiblical (of which I mean not being able to prove). This would imply Adam was not intended to live forever.
  19. How is the band being supported? All I see is a bunch of people taking their music and listening to it illegally. When you borrow a CD your friend doesn't keep a copy of it. When downloading both parties keep a copy of the CD.

Hey, welcome to the forums! :P Unfortunately, a thread asking what your age is, is not going to generate much discussion. We try and stay away from one-word answer threads, so that is why I am locking this. I hope you enjoy your stay here at TIF!
  21. I find it ironic that someone who despises Christians and Christianity has the gall to instruct us on "proper" Christian beliefs. If you read the Bible, like actually read it, you would see that there are verses making reference to Christ being God - thus worshipping Him is not against the commandment. As opposed to you, who have not read into religion at all. But I agree that the Bible should not be read a historical text or a science text <-- that was/is not its purpose. Some people devote their lives to learning. If I learn the greatest truths in existence, I'll take the "nothing more than that". Science may improve my outer circumstances, but it cannot bring me true joy, or happiness in life. However, Christ has done those things. Of course you won't, the Bible doesn't say that. In fact, the Bible says (read Romans 3 - 4... well, you probably won't, but at least I can't say I didn't try) that Abraham was declared righteous before God because he simply believed and trusted God. Churches didn't exist, tithing didn't exist, the Bible didn't exist, heck, the 10 commandments didn't exist. Yet Abraham was declared righteous before God. That is the heart of Christianity - to be saved, you need to have faith in God - realize that we suck at life and that we need God to enjoy life. It's not about the Bible or the Law - although faith in God will create a following in them - but the heart of Christianity is faith in God before all else. Your posts show your complete misunderstanding of Christianity and its not entirely your fault, since most Christians are in the same belief that you need to say some non-Biblical believers prayer to be saved. Thanks for the generalization. Y'know, if any other people-group was mentioned as being thieves you'd have been pegged for racism already. Yet again, the Christians take the hit. Take a chill pill, and realize that yes, there are some idiotic Christians that steal, just like there are some idiotic atheists that steal. A Christian stealing doesn't invalidate Christianity no more than a crashing airplane invalidates aerodynamics. You're sounding pretty undereducated as to what you're talking about. Maybe you should actually learn about Chrsitianity before aimlessly insulting something you know nothing about. Well doesn't this just raise the validity of your entire post :?. Of course the ex-drug addict that was baptized in church today is totally rich and living the luxurious life. Obviously not; in fact, he's living in our church's homeless shelter still. But he has happiness and joy in his life. Can you say the same? You've got more generalizations that the false idea of Christians in your mind do, I suggest you quit making them. ... More mindless generalizations to invalidate your intelligence. You want to keep posting here? Give the hate a rest. Christianity is the solution, not Christians. Read the New Testament. Then you will realize that it is a solution. As for the church I attend, personally? I'll just throw out our homeless shelter as a single example. Paid for by the members of our church, we house the homeless, feed them, get them jobs, get them off their addictions with volunteer staff that are members at our church and the money that comes from the members as well. Of course, you just want us to kill each other. You yourself said that the Bible should not be read as a literal historical text - so why are you doing so and then insulting that mindset? Kind of hypocritical...

There is an almost-exact topic already going on (So My Views...). We may as well use that, since every religious discussion goes off on tangents like everyone's business, and it's bound to eventually (and already has).
  23. It's like that in Canada too. Five years ago the exchange rate was $.65 American equalled $1 Canadian. Nowadays it's $.91 American equals $1 Canadian, but everything that enters Canada from the US for sale is still using the exchange rate from five years ago =\. (Example? Check RuneScape subscription prices - although this is not an American product, it's an example of an old exchange rate. $5/month for Americans, $7.30/month for Canadians.)
  24. I have a technologically inclined (like obscenely so) friend who switched from DSL to cable and says that cable is infinitely better.
  25. the big bang is not impossible untill its proven impossible. So far scientists have "fossil" evidence and evidence of all sorts proving the big bang to be real, its just not 100% certain. Wikipedia for more. You missed the point - Xplsv was talking about prior to the Big Bang. It is impossible for the matter/energy required for the Big Bang to come from nothing. Thus, it remains that it was created from something else. Whatever that something else is, remains up in the air at the moment - but, his point stands.
