What he said. :anxious: Golden Horseshoe here.
  4. So going back on your abstinence pledge isn't incorrect use? Wouldn't your inability to use a condom (or other forms of contraception) correctly go back on the pledge you made to your partner that you are going to have safe sex? Surely that shouldn't count either because you made the effort to try, the result shouldn't matter. Going back on your abstinence pledge isn't incorrect use, it's no use whatsoever. Whereas using any other kind of contraception can involve incorrect use while being used, abstinence either happens or doesn't, there's no middle ground - if you're using it, you're using it correctly. It is impossible to abstain incorrectly, because as soon as something happens, it's not abstinence anymore.
  5. Yes. Completely agreed.
  6. That's because abstinence is discrete. You either abstain, or you don't. There is no such thing as "incorrect abstinence", since there isn't a level, or range, to look at. It's black and white, no grey areas. With other forms of contraception, there is a possibility of incorrect use - with abstinence, there is only the possibility of no use at all, making "typical use" obsolete, since it isn't possible.
  7. No one said that the only way to tell them to abstain was to say stupid things. How about talking about committment, what sex represents to you as a couple - maybe talk about the mental and emotional aspects to sex as well - talk about what the female views sex as, what the male views sex as, instead of slipping a condom in their pocket with a wink :?
  8. Actually, it happens a lot. I waited untill I was 18, and in about 2 months, I'm giving her the ring. I can also name about 10 guys off the top of my head that have saved themself as well. It's not as common as a girl doing it because guys are raised in a way that sex is a trophy, and very little more than that. It's sad that alot of men are raised that way. Men and women look for different things through sex/relationships and when a man cannot see it from the woman's point of a view alot of things get messed up.

  11. But it isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t... in reality you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re very, very unlikely to have a serious relationship without sex. I didn't say abstinence worked well for a good intimate relationship, I just said that abstinence works well as birth control. You're reading too much into it :P if you don't have sex, you don't get a kid (99.999999% of the time). That's all I meant. But your post brought up a point - let's agree that sex is vital to a healthy intimate relationship. Let's also agree that people are physically ready to have sex as young as 11 (as seen in the quoted article). Does this mean that people are mentally, emotionally, socially, economically, etc, ready to be having sex? Sex is a primarily physical act, but there are so many more factors surrounding it. Do you think that teenagers, while physically ready to have sex, are mentally ready to have a serious relationship? I would tend to think not.
  12. I'd prefer to have sex once I'm actually married. Not before. Awesome, me too. When you get the chance, you wouldn't say no :| Just because you wouldn't say no, doesn't mean other people wouldn't :P Who said I was imposing my belief? I just said that abstinence worked as birth cotnrol. Everyone in this thread is stating their beliefs, but as per usual, the Christian gets pegged for "imposing". Interesting.
  13. Do go ahead and quote where I said that. I'll be waiting. It was a conclusion I drew from your sarcastic remark. If abstinence as contraception is laughable, then instead we should be encouraging the use of other contraceptive methods, all which include sex. Since the article (or part of it) was about an 11-year-old pregnancy, I figured that if you were being on topic, you were relating it to the quoted 11-year-old that was pregnant. Figure that one out all by yourself? He was merely pointing out that abstinence as contraception isn't laughable, because it works 100% of the time. You say it fails because teens aren't able to control themselves, but that isn't because abstinence is laughable, it is because the self-control some teens have nowadays is laughable.
  14. Ah, I thought you were referring to those that believe sex is for procreation only - and that is a strictly Catholic belief, within Christanity at least. But you can't deny, abstinence is a decent method of contraception :P
  15. So basically, you posted a solution you don't believe in, in a sarcastic manner just for the sake of criticizing Catholics? I mean, it wasn't even brought up yet! And did you, or did you not, take in the fact that the article mentioned an 11-year old that was pregnant? Do you really think that we should be encouraging 11-year olds to have sex?
  16. That rules out like every funny shirt. Only if you have a perverted sense of humour.

For those of you who don't know, City and Colour is Dallas Green, from Alexisonfire. I didn't make this thread to find out what you all think about his music (although opinions would be nice), I made this thread because I'm curious as to who has all heard of City and Colour/Dallas Green, and have heard his music on the radio. The reason being, is that because Dallas Green is Canadian, and local to where I live (at least was local to where I live), the radio stations play his stuff non-stop, to support him - I'm curious as to whether he is as popular as they make him out to be. So, who's heard of City and Colour?
  23. Friends with Benifits FTW! Cheapening romance ftl. Then maybe you've never taken the time to get to know a female who isn't considered good looking to you? :P like actually get to know.
