  1. its just a matter of creation and how the world works. Does god know everything we are going to do? did god create us? or was it all scientific. they sort of do conflict with eachother. Or did God create science since science is merely understanding truths about the natural world? Precisely what I believe. You believe in the Big Bang? That's cool, I believe in the Big Bang too - I just so happen to believe it is more logical that an intelligent supreme being created the Big Bang rather than some raondom spontaneous explosion causing a perfectly functioning complex universe. Again, the Bible is not a science textbook; so don't put it against a science textbook and say science wins - it's like comparing apples and oranges and saying the orange wins for the most vibrant orange colour.
  2. I still don't understand why everyone thinks it's science versus religion :? The Bible = revelation about God. Science = truths about the natural world. How are these two relevant in any manner?
  3. "The UN is hopeless and stupid because it will never accomplish world peace"
  4. This is almost always true with Christian rock, however, isn't it possible for people singing from the heart to put God into their lyrics? You make it sound like it is impossible for anyone that cares about making good music to include God in the mix. @author: If artists that don't have Christian lyrics but are Christians is okay, try out Mae and Copeland (two different bands). @everyone else: This is a topic about Christian *music*, not Christianity.
  5. If downloading an album leads to the purchasing of an album then I see no problem with it. I understand. My point was, if you really appreciated the artist, you'd support them financially. It's true that artists may not "care" if they don't sell recrods, but let's be honest here - they have to put food on the table.
  6. Any more flaming and this gets locked.
  7. Thanks for the articles all! I just wanted to see people actually showing proof instead of making possibly false blanket statements. This is an interesting statement, and I almost agreed with it. Until I realized that if you really were "doing it for the music", you would have financially supported the artists. Music doesn't exist without the people that make it. Yea, that's why I said it was indirect. Even if they aren't getting money, people that are stealing from the artists are being made example of. Like I said, it's really indirect. Possibly something only I take pleasure in.
  8. In the Limewire case I would hardly call $150,000 per traded file something they deserve. They're just trying to make as much money with their high priced lawyers as they can. If they can sue more people faster, I bet you they would. Again, I agreed that the RIAA is doing it for their own personal gain - I was merely pointing out that I enjoyed the fact that the end result is that recording artists are being stood up for, however indirect it may be. Can you back this up with a shred of real evidence? This is a paper written by a professor at a University in Dallas - inside the paper there are a few graphs, all that show a large decrease in album sales first starting in 1999; the first year that P2P became extremely popular. Just something to think about. If you can provide evidence supporting the contrary, I'd love to see it.
  9. Got any proof for that? Or for that matter, any evidence to even suggest it? Or is it just a futile attempt to try and justify piracy. Geting defensive arn't we makes me wonder. u stoped laarning to red and rite in grde to maek me woender!? If you think every musical artist has millions of dollars to spend then you really are ignorant. But thank you, you've reminded me of another fallacious argument to add to my sorry list.
  10. Okay :P well I've still got a half-decent refutation for the other five arguments.
  11. If it's not against the law in your country then you won't get sued by the RIAA, nor would they have the power to sue you. Are you suggesting they should feel guilty for doing something that is completely legal where they live? If someone stands accused of breaking the law when they aren't, what do you expect them to do besides pull out the law argument? I was allowed to buy alcohol aged 18 here, does that mean I should feel guilty because some american (not talking about you, anyway I think you're Canadian) came over here and accused me of hiding behind the law? It isn't as though the people who are claiming it's legal where they are are coming over to america and trying to hide behind their country's laws there. No no no, I wasn't saying that. I was just saying it's a double standard that people only use the law or bring it up when it benefits them - as in, I'm pretty sure that if it was against the law it wouldn't stop 99% of the people on this forum from downloading music (as shown from replies on this topic already).
  12. As opposed to you, who takes away the money that the record companies rightfully and legally should be getting for the music you are stealing (as well as the recording artitsts)? They're not exploiting anybody, they're simply taking what they deserve from a select few. It's not like these select few are being brutally stolen from, in reality it is everyone else being shown grace. It's all about principle really.
  13. Yha, but some artists don't mind being downloaded. Like fall out boy, so if they don't mind shoulden't it be alright? Okay, I'm going to just put up a bunch of arguments people use when trying to justify downloading. Argument #1: "The artists like the publicity, so I can download all of their music for free!" Answer: If the artists really want you downloading their music, then they'll make their music available for download via a site like MySpace (shudder), or on their website. For example, see the New Amsterdams website - they have a full album available for download. My point is, if a band wanted you downloading their music, they will personally make it available for download. If you need to use P2P software to get their music, they probably don't want you stealing their music. Argument #2: "I don't have any money! I can't afford CDs!" Answer: Quite bluntly, suck it up. CDs are a luxury, not a necessity, and thus being poor doesn't justify your illegal actions. Argument #3: "It's not against the law in my country!" Answer: If you want to hide behind the law, then you'd better not be breaking any other laws, ever. It seems people only ever pull out the law argument when it benefits them. If they're ever breaking the law, you'll never hear them speak of it. Sure, it may be legal, but bringing the law into it is a double-standard for 99% of the male teenager population. Argument #4: "I didn't know it's illegal!" Answer: Ignorance is not an argument. And I really doubt you're going to go delete all the music you've downloaded. Argument #5: "It's only a song or two!" Answer: Then pay for a song or two, on iTunes. Arugment #6: "The artists don't make any money on CDs anyways. It's all about concert ticket sales" Answer: Basically, artists make around $1 on every CD sold. Argument #7: "Since every single artist is totally rich I can steal from them" Answer: Not every single artist is rich. But even if they were, stealing music from them is [developmentally delayed]ed. Car dealers are rich, but if I went and stole a beamer, you'd think that was stupid, wouldn't you?
  14. To be honest I've always supported getting rid of music pirating. Even if the RIAA is doing this for their own benefit, the end result is that music artists are being stood up for, and I appreciate that.
  15. You should read up on grammatical rules before opening a thread. Periods, commas, and capitalization can really enhance a post.
  16. Can't say I've been too active lately but these sort of posts make it all worth it! :)

Agreed, and I would think that what cithien said can be applied to: oh god wow... im glad im not you (no offence... kinda) :P You two, note the bold.
  19. I've got an ingrown toenail in both of my big toes. Once a month I just dig 'em out. It's gotten infected once, but I caught it the day it got infected and got some antibiotics to clear it up right away. I've had 'em for about a year now :P; I just need to do the ol' gouge-out every now and then to keep it under control.
  20. I totally agree (with the author). Cigarette butts are just so ugly. Why can't people litter flowers or something...?
  21. I hate you...
  22. Lol, how so? (btw, Calculus I (MATH 1P01) has a 50% fail rate at my university =\)
  23. At least my Thursday and Friday are easy
  24. Take care.
  25. Yea, I figured giving the gold bar back would give me the crystal back. However, I need a key to get into the chest with the gold bar, and to get the key, I need to talk to Og. But Og won't talk to me :P it's kind of brutal... EDIT: found my problem. The quest guide on tip.it implies that Og gives the crystal, however it is Grew on the island that gives the crystal.
