The coiner of that phrase has obviously never studied logic or more specifically the complex cause. It's not like these two were going out to murder a 7 year old girl any way they could. They said that they were practicing mortal kombat moves and she died as a result. Just like it's actually people using guns that kill people, it's these people practicing mortal kombat moves that killed this girl. Source Fair enough. It all makes sense.

I hope people realize there is a difference between strying to stay awake as long as possible and maybe just staying up for a specific amount of time (THAT IS REALISTIC). I for one am wanting to pull an all night if possible. Why? Cause I want to get further in a game, its the break, I have nothing to do tomorrow (So I can catch up on sleep then). Don't try to stay up as long as you possibly can for stupid reasons like trying to be cool or for no reason at all. It's really not healthy (And till about 5 in the morning isn't exactly unhealthy).

Yeah, that's why in a longer article they quote the female killer as SAYING they were intentionally imitating mortal combat. Because mortal combat had nothing to do with it and video games are never the cause of any negative action. I'd like to see the link to this longer article as well. And the video game still has no effect here cause even though they know the moves (or think they do) from the games, its their thoughts and the fact that they chose to go through the actions which have caused the problem. It's like saying that having guns around caused the VT killings. Although It would not of happened at all, if the gun man wasn't stupid enough to kill those people, it wouldn't of happened. Hence the quote "Guns don't kill people, people kill people".

The fact that these "moves" came from mortal combat is only a poke at the gaming industry. The article is obviously biased and should of just said these teens killed a young girl, which they did. Regardless of the games, it was their choice of actions which led them to this situation.

Slightly OT, but swearing is a culture problem, not a attraction problem. Just give it a thought for a second, but what if the words we considered 'bad' were not considered so? Would it still bug you to hear females say them? I for one wish society did away with the taboo of words, as that would be one less thing to worry about...

Admiting my first post was more informational about how I feel about your posting style for the past few threads, here is my actual take on the essay: I agree with nihilism (If it's what I'm thinking it is). I really think everything came out randomly and that things will end randomly, and that things that happen now are random. That being said, science does see patterns in the great chaos we live in and these patterns just happen to be random patterns created but are followed from now until the end of existence. That being said, I would like to see the bibliography of your essay. Although I don't doubt there is some amazing stuff like this in the universe, I would like to see the source of this observation. Yes, that is nice, and really good thing you do. But, what you are doing is simply posting your essay. What you should be doing is posting your essay and along with it, try and create a discussion around it. It's like the big spurts of news threads we had last month. Simply posting the news is just spam, but if there is a discussion started around the news thread, then its not spam. So what I would suggest, is post your essays and then write something to start a discussion, such as something the lines of a simple sentence saying "So I have written this and would like to know what TIF thinks about the blah blah blah of this and that. This is my stance". But this is just me..... 'Plz' isn't a real word, and I am writing stuff. It just takes.......thought! :-$ Oh very nice of you.
