Which is why this sucks, I was going to get 88 summoning this weekend, but nope, can't do that now =/. Jagex REALLY didn't think this through. Nothing is going to buyable for the next two weeks.

Personally don't like the idea of this at all and hope this is a once off and they won't do it again, although I doubt that. Ignoring the economic effects of this, which I imagine will have already started, two weeks prior to the event. It just seems unneeded and I personally don't see a single gameplay benefit from this at all. Complaining isn't going to do any good, but I find this whole idea appalling. I wouldn't mind so much if it was a flat 10% xp increase over the course of a weekend, that's not too bad. But 2.7x? even if it's only >2 for a few hours that's a huge impact it'll have on the game.

Jagex track an awful lot of things in the game. More than probably any of us know. It's most likely that the people found abusing this will be banned. I have an idea from previous history of some things they do track, not going to divulge that information as I'm fairly sure it was confidential.

Considering getting one next week, getting paid tomorrow + birthday soon so should have more than enough to get one plus a few games. Tempted to get the Playstation Go Play Freeview tuner thing, can get that, a 250GB PS3 + 2 games (Uncharted 1 and Little Big Planet seem to be the best out of the options) for £300, which is fairly good. Would probably also buy my self at least one other game, not sure what, Heavy Rain looks really good but not sure it's my sort of game (especially at full price) so might pick up some older games first for now. I have a 360 so won't be getting any cross platform games. Will most likely pick up a few PSone games too + a few PSN games, depending on what I like the look of. The PS3 is region free (on the games anyway) right? If so might import Demon's Souls as that's not out in Europe yet I don't believe. Can anyone recommend some older games + some decent PSN games that I should be looking at getting? Cheers

Making decent-ish progress in 10 mans now. Last week did ICC10 and we cleared the first 4 bosses with only two wipes (my first time doing anything past marrowgar) on my mage. Then later in the week picked it up again, this time I tanked and we had a 3% wipe on Festergut. This week in ToGC10 we made it to Twins, and wiped 0.1%... half the raid died at ~1.5M left so I had to solo tank it from then on, one special was change aura then the other was twins pact when they had 150k left, couldn't burn down quick enough :( Tanked ICC10 this week, cleared the whole first 4 bosses with no wipes at all, almost one shot Festergut (40k left >_<) as I popped divine shield when he enraged but there weren't enough ticks on him to kill him, god damn it :(. Killed him on the next attempt. Then spent an hour or so wiping on Rotface, was a new fight to everyone and not a lot of people knew the tactics. Didn't really go very well at all, we couldn't get the ooze's to form properly, for some reason they just kept dropping aggro which meant they were bouncing around all over the place. Haven't started 25 mans yet as my internet isn't up to it, changing ISP on Wednesday which should hopefully fix the problem in time for ToC25 :D. Haven't had any new tank loot for a while, bought myself Saronite Swordbracers, lost a roll on an amulet in ToGC10 and lost a roll in the Marrowgar tanking mace too :(. Oh well, it's my alt so I don't mind the other guy getting it as his tank is his main. Tempted to ask if I can switch my Pala to my main though, I'm really liking tanking things, especially ICC. Haven't really had to heal much yet, just one ToC10 run and a few HCs, haven't touched 25 man healing yet. Tempted to change healing back to DPS for the time being as I got a decent upgrade to that in ICC :)

If a security flaw was found in Microsoft word then the update would be done through Office, not anything else. Seem with an OS hole, that'd be fixed with Microsoft Update. I've been using this for a while now and have no problems with it at all.

Will have to wait and see what the compromise is to be honest, but most likely the fire cape won't be a requirement any more.

Unfair fight, taking away our ability to make and use tools is a huge handicap. The reason why we'd suck in such a situation as they we've evolved without the need to have "built-in" weapons or strength like many animals need to survive. The fight would be much more even even if only given an hour to "prepare" for it, in that time you could fairly easily create some sort of weapon, be it a simple wooden spear or some sort of slingshot. I think the question is stupid to be honest.

Other than virtually every boss monster out there where they get heavy suage He said combat summons and nobody uses those at bosses unless they have no idea what they're doing. But I still disagree they aren't nearly useless, they speed up slayer tasks and killing things like aviansies. I hope they allow them in single combat anyway though. Okay, maybe I misspoke. I should have said that combat familiars only have a fairly narrow usage. The big thing is that Summoning affects your combat level, but there are a very large number of areas where you can't use Summoning for combat. Other non-combat familiars can help you in combat however (unicorn/bunyip etc. etc.). Although I agree, them being usable in single combat would be awesome.
