I'm sorry, people can not be this stupid...
And that makes it any better? If you were a real friend you wouldn't call him an idiot and exploit him like that, especially if you have reason to believe that he's actually mentally impaired. Oh cut the "real friend" crap. People make fun of their friends all the time. I'm well aware that friends can have a joke at each other's expense, but what dizzle posted was just ridiculous. I suppose you would be fine with being called an idiot by your friends? What if they thought you were mentally impaired and did it anyway? I suppose you'd be fine with them constantly asking asking you questions you don't know the answer too just so they can ridicule you? Sounds like a bunch of crappy friends if you ask me.

[/hide] Some "friend" you are. Stop acting like we're [bleep] exploiting him. It's my fault for not giving you the full story, but he's learning from this. Alot. Give me the full story then. I'll be interested to hear how you can justify ridiculing someone you call a friend.

15 years in jail for possession of manga...
Based on the details of the case, the punishment for this "crime" seems very harsh. On one level I can understand the argument that might be used to justify the PROTECT act, that being that it might desensitise people to child porn or encourage them to do it. Having said that, the counterargument would be that a harmless cartoon could actually let pedophiles (not suggesting that the subject is one) get their fix without needing to abuse a child for real.

Expanding my Mind
I think it's great that you read scientific papers. My advice would be to keep doing that, but perhaps browse a good science news site like sciencedaily.com as a starting point. There's all kinds of topics covered on that site.

When Landscapes Bled Backwards by Sickening Horror (album). Fairly original stuff. Interesting.

I don't know how seriously people take those things, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was someone out there stupid enough to believe in them. It's not like stupid people are a rarity you know.

Kerrang Radio - Occult Debate
It won't do anything apart from strike up fear and pandemonium among the people who actually believe in this stuff. Don't mistake a reaction to this event for the ridiculous non-sequitur that demons must be running amok.

Scientology Trial in France Could Ban the "Church"
The damage is taking their money You missed the point. If it's not deliberate deception for the purpose of damaging them it's not fraud. But in any case, I'll take um_bong's advice and take this definition with a huge grain of salt. Anyone who knows of a reliable source for French law relevant to the topic is welcome to take up where I left off.

Scientology Trial in France Could Ban the "Church"
I don't know if they'll be that successful arguing on the grounds of fraud. According to the wiki definition, "fraud is the crime or offense of deliberately deceiving another in order to damage them usually, to obtain property or services unjustly." In that case, they would have to prove that they use the E-meter to deliberately deceive people in order to damage them. According to scientologist beliefs, the E-meter is supposed to help people, so I don't know how they can prove that. Nelly Reziga might have a case against her boss, though. I'd imagine (at least I hope) it's illegal to fire someone based on their refusal to attend a religious meeting.

Drinking - shots
I agree, apart from taking shots over being sober. I enjoy what alcohol does to me, but I don't see any need to endure something I hate the taste of. I don't mind some weaker spirits like Baileys, though. I don't know whether you'd even call something that weak a spirit.

Blod Draum by Molested (album). A very cool oldschool DM-styled album. Maybe it's just the rough production, though... I've also been listening to a very impressive prog tech-death band called Neglected Fields this morning. Check them out here.

Green Day Lashes Out At Wal-Mart Policy
What fan would? I did it by accident with a Common album. Annoyed the hell out of me. :( Where in Australia sells censored albums? I want to know so I can avoid it like the plague.

Green Day Lashes Out At Wal-Mart Policy
Not really. They want to be viewed as a company that is for families, I think. While there is no restriction on who can buy PA labeled CDs, as it could pretty much equate to PG really. While they can sell higher age rated games as there is the restriction. That doesn't change my opinion. I still think the fact that they only sell censored music is stupid. I just don't like the idea of coddling people in cotton wool by only selling censored material. If anything, they should give CDs a rating like they do games and movies and restrict sales based on that. They shouldn't restrict sales all together.

Green Day Lashes Out At Wal-Mart Policy
It's stupid that they only sell censored music, but they're not at all obliged to do what Greed Day say.

Possible Missing Link
Sure I've heard of an arm before  But seriously, even though it's a pretty accurate way for detecting common ancestry, the pentadactyl limb only applies to tetrapods. I'm talking about a universal tree for ALL species, and since the only thing that unifies all living organisms is DNA, I want to see a DNA-tree. Are you familiar with 16S/18S ribosomal RNA trees? Carl Woese basically showed that Archaea exist based on work with RNA trees.
