  1. Xbox better than most computers today ? That made me laugh. Computers are always updated like every week with a new graphics card better than the last week, to my knowledge you cant buy xbox graphics cards, and an xbox is practically like an computer anyway. You sir are correct. No one is currently able to purchase a Graphics Card like an Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 PWNS my current computer. 360 has not one, not two, but THREE 3.0Ghz processors, and some crazy new "500MHz ATI post-X800 adaptor" graphics card which is "next-gen". So it looks as if we won't be able to render such amazing graphics as the 360 can currently, but just think about 50 years ago there were no "Micro computers" (the thing you're using now) and they still operated on Punch Cards. Also for the record Java compiles it's visual images from other files meaning you've already made the image and Java just puts it together with the rest of the pictures that you're using. So Java could COMPILE them but not all COMPUTERS could render them properly. To see the effect of what would happen if we used our current computers with supped up graphics such as the picture of discussion go to your local computer recycling center, pick up either a DOS 7.0 run machine or a Windows 3.1 run machine and try to play Halo for the PC on it. Edit: Here is where I got my Xbox 360 spec info.
  2. Let's take a look at this mathematically and logically. Firstly the former. At level 15 in Runescape you are considered a "n00b" because you have only completed a little over 10% of combat (15/126=11.5%). At level 15 in World of Warcraft you are an okay player because you are actually dedicated enough to the game to have completed 25% of the fighting portion (15/60=25%). Now for the second, logic. World of Warcraft costs about 30-40 dollars to simply purchase the game (CD ). Then it costs $15 to simply play it each month. That's three times the cost of our game each month. To earn five dollars would require to get a MINIMUM wage job and work for literally less than an hour or for a young kid it would require perhaps mowing a neighbors lawn (Mowing the lawn would be weekly, but any good parent would require the child to put money into a savings account, thus teaching them how to earn and save for later). To earn fifteen dollars would require to get a MINIMUM wage job and work for a little over two hours or for a young kid, set up several lawn mowing jobs. Most kids in my opinion will only stick to their neighbors because they would not want to do too much difficult work (also again any good parent would force their child to save a majority of their money for understanding of money). Because of the high cost mostly adults (17+) play the game and therefore are generally more respectful and intelligent then your average Runescape player (not all of us are bad, but just alot of us are). And there you have it.
  3. Something similar to yours, but I only had a few people ask me what I was doing. It's a shame you can't pick your flowers after planting them. I'd like to keep some of the flowers, but I also wanted to display my gardening skill :)
  4. Runescape is in three dimensions, the world we live in is in three dimensions, World of Warcraft and Guild Wars are in three dimensions. Have you not seen the pictures for "The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" for the Xbox 360? They are very close to that. Runescape is a game written in Java and is BROWSER based. It is on the internet and technically it is internet based as Yahtzee is dice based. World of Warcraft and Guild Wars are internet based games as well. Not trying to be a smart-aleck, just trying to keep the technology jargon in the upper regions.
  5. That's false, why would the mod lie? They work for jagex, they lie for jagex  They do, and will have various reasons. That sound very Orwellian 1984ish. You know Big Brother and all. I guess Jagex will start using Newspeak and begin to create doublethink slogans. :)
  6. castlewars came out BEFORE barrows  It's called THINKING AHEAD. Do you think Jagex just sits at there computers and then just code away at something they THINK will be cool or is it more likely that they have meetings every week, or once a month at least to be sure they know what they're all doing? Jagex obviously had set effects in at least brainstorming form when they wanted to make Castle wars They knew that it would be too powerful so they tried to prevent overpowerment of people with barrows equipment completely on.
  7. You make it sound as if it were Nazi Propoganda back in World War Two. But you're probably right so... good for you :D
  8. Looks like Jagex really wanted to make the wilderness more dangerous for all the enemies of mages. Personally I think it's a great update if it's legitimate. Just think of going through the wilderness unannounced and mine your hearts desire of Rune ore. That sounds like a good plan. He should definetly try going through the wilderness. See if any Zammorackian magic turns it off. (Meaning going beyond lvl 20 wilderness).
  9. Strange little goal. I would never sell all that Essence. Worked too hard to get it :) @trembake: I did not know that! I thought I was safe from losing my pouches. Has anyone calculated just how many times it takes to have a pouch degrade?
  10. So I've decided I want to expand upon the game. Who wants to give me some ideas for the game? I was thinking a tavern motif and you choose your move by clicking on a card and then the Computer has an animation that flips over a card resulting in his choice. What do you think?
  11. close to 500,000 members, times 1 meg each page - 500,000 megs plus bandwidth. this would cost everyone another $5 per month to pay for all the bandwidth  How do you think they pay for the Hundreds of thousands of non paying members? Through showing advertisments. If this were to be a page with an advertisment then they could get their cash for doing that (Because what PKer wouldn't want to be looking at a page where it tells exactly where they last logged off and what equipment they were carrying?)
  12. Of Course there should be a fee. Otherwise every Joe Schmo could make a Clan and go at it. We want dedicated clans. People willing to work together. Perhaps spies aren't the answer? Especially if the only battle could take place in a special arena out in the wilderness. There could be no way of getting a drop on the clan. Suggestion: To avoid other Pker's taking out Clans while they march to the battlefield through the wilderness (obviously if it's at a set time then someone will try to kill the clan members) they can introduce a "Crusaders Cape". A cape that was designed by Saradominist Monks to shrug off the evil energies of the wilderness. Unfortunately the magic cannot go very deep into the wilderness (Level 20 max?) and therefore all mystical arenas would be below level 20 wilderness. The cape would only be able to be taken on and off outside of the wilderness. Anyone wearing it could not be attacked. They can't go into the members wilderness area. Their actions are limited to walking and running. So long as they're wearing it, they cannot be attacked and they cannot attack nor pick up items (or drop them for safety precaution?) nor perform a skill (such as mining or mixing a potion). Once they enter into the battle area the cape's powers cease to take precedence over Zammorackian Magic. Because it may be abused by Abyss Runners (because the Zammorack mage can cast over Teleblock, it could also do it over the cape, going on a logical basis) the Zammorack mage would sense the overpowering feeling of Saradomin's magic and would then teleport them to the Wizard's tower near Draynor. I believe that is a better method of preventing abuse than not having them be teleported at all because of the Magic behind it. That's an addition to my own suggestion for the Clan System. JEEZ! A bit much? Everything else I really like! I don't like the "Clanwars" area per se. I still believe that the wilderness is where ALL pvp should take place. hmmmmm..... ever heard of duel arena and castlewar I was thinking in terms of F2P also. I can't imagine an F2P player having 5 Million gold. But you're right. Having a small clan steal from Knights for a couple hours would easily get you 5 Million. Sorry.
  13. Just realized this but your tittle should be "An official clan system" That is all :)
  14. JEEZ! A bit much? Everything else I really like! I don't like the "Clanwars" area per se. I still believe that the wilderness is where ALL pvp should take place. A slight tweak to your idea is that a clan would challenge a clan by posting a message in a Runescape wide display case. The other clan leader would then decide to accept the challenge or not. Once the challenge is accepted the two clans would meet at a specific place in the Wilderness. When the two leaders meet they would have to make some sort of action on each other to start the battle. At that point Crumbling pillars would rise out of the ground making a rectangular shape (which is based upon the number of clan members in each side) with two different colored sides. Each clan would have to enter in their own respected side. From there it would be an all out free-for-all. The benifit of having it in the wilderness is the fact that they still get all the loot from their kills (which could also be dumped into the Clan treasury for distribution based upon their pre-set values made by the clan). The pillars would be to keep out leeches from joining in your war and getting items. Plus when you would die instead of going to Lumbridge (or falador) you'd go to your guild hall and see their kill count. I really like your suggestion. And if it's okay I'd like to expand on it further. Clan Halls: In here you can relax with your fellow clan members and keep out eavesdropping enemies. The guild can put armor and weapons to have an armory (don't know why, but it'd be cool). Also the Guild leaders can purchase Drinks and their members can partake in them during meetings or while waiting for a war to be finished. Wars: Wars would take place in an empty space of the wilderness. No bet should be placed on it, Wilderness rules still apply including being skulled. Guild leaders would have to meet in the wilderness and perhaps salute each other (It would be a special action that only existed when the challenge existed). From there an Arena would pop out of the ground (Zammorackian Magic) with two sides for each clan respectfully. The size of the arena would be based on the size of the guilds (5 squares for each player. When a player would leave the arena it would lose 5 squares bringing the fighters closer and closer together). The equipment a player loses would not drop. It would instantly go to the victors treasury. Even if a player dies on the victors side they do not receive their equipment back. They must hope to get enough money from the battle to buy their equipment back. Treasury: The clans treasury would be a precious commodity. What would happen if the guild leader decided to leave and take the money with him? That shouldn't happen. Once the clan is disbanned then all the money in the treasury is split up between the clan members (if uneven then it would be rounded down for example there are 100 clan members and 125,375 gold pieces in the treasury. Each member would get 1,253 gold coins (Math.floor(125375/100) in coding terms). Any items in the armory or the brewery (see Clan halls) would be liquidated to their "Low Alchemy" price (Instant destruction of the clan would be for abuse and therefore giving the clan less money than normal would be a bit of a slap on the wrist). Now I veer away from full blown Clans and go to "Teams" A Team would be a group of adventurers (maximum of 6) that work together in the PVP world. Perhaps even sharing the experience gained (But might not work with people using different styles) but most definetly share in the equipment they earn. If player owned shops or an Auction house comes into existence the equipment would go there instantly for an already pre-determined price by the Team. A special orb could be enchanted to teleport your team to you. Possibilities such as having a monk in your team with a new high level prayers that could heal the entire team(costing prayer points) and recharge his own prayer points(Through concentration, if he's attacked or does anything else, it's instantly broken and loses half of what he recharged). Maybe bring back PvP anywher as you hire out teams to kill off other players that have bounties on their heads (How cool would it to see a guy walking around Rimmington and see some Mage walk by, stop, shout out "Hey you! Prepare to die!" then pull out a mystical orb which levitates in front of him and three Warriors and two Rangers teleport in and attack the guy? Of course the local town guard would pop in and help him out (just like Random event levels to take out the team. If a player teleported in and was near death he'd be teleported back to where he came from. If they were already there then they just die and lose all of their stuff)) SO many possibilites to upgrade the PvP and the Clan system. Sorry for this long post. You have a really great idea and I kind of just went with it.
  15. Yeah I used a similar code that I used on my Rock Paper Scissors game only it's a little bit cleaner and doesn't have any of the animations and whatnot. I was hoping people would figure it out when they saw the PK triangle.
  16. No. We Don't need any more gold being circulated around. That will just deflate the value of gold. Eventually butter will be worth more than gold if every kid started pumping out gold coins.
  17. The point of the game or the point of me making it? I made it because I was bored and the point of the game is... nothing really. There is no end to it.
  18. I'd like to see on Christmast day everyone was turned into the elves. Not santa's little helpers, but the elves in Priffindas(spelling?). Either that or have a joke where the elven lands are covered in snow and they all are dressed up as the silly little elves that are from Santa's workshop.
  19. I just finished mining 26k essence so I know how boring things such as Point, click, wait, point click, etc. are. So after the fact nonetheless I created a mini-game which I've heard of people playing in RS (using the actual prayer icons). So the point of the game would be to get as many wins as you can (there is no limit) by clicking on the prayer icons. You can win by using the PKing triangle (Magic beats Melee, Melee beats Ranged, Ranged beats Magic). You can see my game at http://www.piratefish.com/MRS1.html and to get a MUCH larger version just substitute the .html with .swf (Tip.it blocks any link with .swf in it so I put it in an html document. Note: it's very, very small in the html document. The original intention was to have a mini-game in my signature, unfortunately it didn't work out.) Just throwing it out to the community.
  20. That's very debatable. Some would say that our behavior are motivated by our repressed unconscious mind and that Societies rules and creation was made to supress our natural instinct to live and pass on our gene pool. Others would say that Man is actually "Tabbula Rass" meaning a blank slate. We become who we are by experiencing things where no Morals really exist but those of your surrounding enviornment (A boy can be raised in China were a dog can be eaten and a boy can be raised in England where a dog is a pet.)[/off-topic] [on-topic]I'd go to Party City and purchase as many Party Hats I could and then burn all of them until I only had 5 or so sets left.
  21. [nerd] But here's the thing. Using a PHP page and simple arrays of information all of which can be stored in a text file the information could be read and then processed into that page. The page would then dynamically create itself using the information given. It's just like the High Score pages. That page doesn't actually exist until you type in the username. [/nerd]
  22. Yep, I'm finished with Essence mining and I doubt I'll be doing it again any time soon. Now I've got to get Iron and Coal mining to get my smithing up a vast amount of levels. If you're ever in Edgeville and you go by the steel mine you'll see the man in the hat and scarf with a rune pickaxe. In case you'd like to see how long it took. I kept a bit of a log and here it is. Started (11-21-05): 138 Day 1 (11-22-05): 838 Day 2(11-23-05): 4028 Day 3(11-24-05): 6379 Day 4(11-25-05): 10017 Day 5(11-26-05): 14355 Day 6(11-27-05): 16368 Day 7(12-02-05): 16873 Day 8(12-09-05): 17124 Day 9(12-11-05): 19204 Day 10(12-16-05): 19456 Day 11(12-17-05): 19596 Day 12(12-18-05): 21808 Day 13(12-19-05): 23516 Day 14(12-21-05): 26007 <-- Finished!!! w00tage
  23. For Members, each and everyone of them would have a single webpage dedicated to their player. It would entail the following. A picture (using Javascript or PHP to dynamically put it there) of the characters current equipment (of when they last logged out). A list of their highscore stats. When they joined the game and when they joined membership (also how many months they have been a member.) Perhaps even their last location (This could be done because of the Music being played. It knows which area you are in and therefore could be converted back into the name of the area you are in). When Clan support is implemented then it could also include our Rank in the clan, the number of Player Kills we've had, and perhaps a link to a RS clan website (provided by Jagex). I think everyone else believes that Jagex NEEDS to be more community oriented and help the players out. Putting in an item database would help, revamping the RS client to match those of the third party programs would help also. The clan support is the step in the right direction but giving us each a website (with an ad on it) is just as helpful (allowing us to view other's characters stats and equipment also letting us know where they are and how long they've been playing). A website for the thousands of members would not be that hard (Really). Using PHP and Javacript all of it can be automated. Plust with an ad on each page Jagex could easily afford it.
  24. Last time I checked, Jagex was based in England. But the transaction is being made in American Territory. I believe that we MUST uphold Jagex's terms of service. If you do not and Jagex brings it to the American Court System it'll go straight to the Supreme Court (Because it crosses international borders). My Suggestion is not to sell your account. Play the game as if it's just a hobby and not a proffession. If you want to sell things in a game than play Second Life (or something similar to that) which is made for selling your characters items for real life money. Or join the korean mafia. One of the two.
