But the content itself, that is - the fight caves, was dead long before that. Once the learning curve was mastered, it was easily conquerable in under an hour, and was only brought back to life with the Slayer task update.

The name of the post is "High Tier Item Access" I think you're in the wrong thread mate.
-
I thought this was all about a desire for the correct tiers to be available to the people in that range, therefore people with 80 defense can access nex gear. As for challenges, no NPC will ever truly be a challenge, only the learning curve is a challenge. Once something is mastered it is not hard, because it cannot think. The only true challenge is going to come from PvP which is a very broken model in RS.
-
So you want it to be a challenge (high % of failure, high cost of failure) but then you also want to be able to grind it over and over again with enough ease as to make it a reliable moneymaker... seriously, what? I'm sorry - where did I say that? I'm all about untradeable must be earned gear, but the Jad model is a poor implementation of it.
-
So make top tier items untradeable drops that are best in game marginally? We would do the boss once, show off our achievement, and then it'd be dead content. Why would you want that? The point to doing Jad was to show you overcame the challenge, and it was a fine model - except it's mostly dead content and was before fire cape was outclassed. Once everyone had one there's no incentive to return. That's just a waste of time on everyone's part.

The real problem with making any skilling profitable by making the rewards usefull to combat players (this seems to be the most profitable skilling, e.g. chinchompas, sharks back in the day, etc.) is that it soon becomes botted because skilling in and of itself is mindless and easy for a bot to do. Make a profitable skilling activity that is hard to do, or requires a group-oriented effort. But let's be honest then people will complain that it's not in the spirit of RS for us to have to try more than click and AFK (remind anyone of EoC?) or it will be obselete content because of the effort required. Also, since PvP is essentially dead the demand for consumables such as potions and food has dramatically dropped. There's also a huge incentive for players to level up certain skills such as herblore which make the xp worth more than the coin, therefore it costs to level.
-
I agree. My point was I don't have a problem with top-tier being ridiculous expensive, the real problem lies in the fact that top-tier is at tier 80, making it inaccessible to level 80's. But I think this has been the case since GWD. Barrows wasn't that way because they're weren't as many maxed players and barrows has a high drop rate/low level's can do them and higher levels being there can't prevent lower levels from being there. Bandos was not available to me at level 70, 50m for the set was alot back then. I settled with rune, or barrows if I had a cash surplus at the time. Nex gear was not available to me upon it's release, nor anytime until recently, years after it's release.

What's wrong with playing RuneScape, honestly?
Birdd replied to TzTok - x - Jad's topic in General Discussion
I will never get the time back it took me to read this. Essentially: People look down on RuneScape because (if they play MMO's/Games) it's not as intense/"hard"/good graphics as other MMORPG's and games or (if they are not a gamer) because it's an MMORPG. Don't place your self-worth based on how other people view your activities. Be a good person and anyone worth two cents will like you regardless of your game habits. That being said, you have to leave the house to show people you're a good person, serve your community, talk to people, work a job - do something actually productive. Runescape should be a hobby not a lifestyle. And I agree with everyone above, you basically want to justify "no-lifing." Runescape in and of itself is not bad, but anything over-used is destructive, regardless of your weight loss. -
I'm confused by the objective of the above conversation. The drop rate is what it is, and the bonuses are basically neglible. If you want the gloves, suck it up and grind or suck it up and pay for neglible bonuses. What's the big deal about a rare drop rate? The monsters are easy enough to camp and they're not a boss, the rate should be reasonably low. I believe I saw on RSOF that the mod who designed them said they are 20% more rare than glacor boots, that's not insanely high. Stop complaining about poor luck, it's always been part of the game. Also, I earned all my bank (~1.5B) through monster hunting. So people who say only gamblers, stakers, etc can buy stuff is just not true. Sure skilling isn't great money, but it hasn't been for years. Why the sudden uproar? And at above's example's.. By the time GWD came out many people were way beyond 70 stats, and the ones who were killing the bosses were above 70 stats crowding out the 70 statters (I know because I was one of them.) And the problem is that a large population is maxed out, yet we don't have scaled gear to go with it. If we did, then we would be paying alot for that and tier 80 gear would be accessible to 80's. The problem comes from tier 80 being top tier, they need to finish the tiers out.

[hide] Well I don't think Lucien's power pre-storyline matters much in this conversation, as the Dragonkin slayed him with all the power. There's no arguing with the staff and SoJ that he was the most powerful. But that's really a moot point as we're mostly in agreement. :P [/hide]
-
[hide] Well in Kerapac's journal (the dragonkin journal dropped by QBD where most of our knowledge about dragonkin comes from) Kerapac states he intends to kill Jas.. I think that's pretty clear they believe him to still be around. [/hide] I know my idea is a bit crazy, but just something to chew on.

That text is merely filler, I have had a lifeboat used up, and the text clearly said it was saved by the lifeboat.

If you say H/c x2 in game you will be muted. (Taken from Reddit)

It doesn't do anything on 07 servers, if anyone was curious. -
Cement it on there until new skills are released :P Then he can have most xp and as long as people have higher levels it won't matter. Ah the never ending cycle.
-
Yeah basically I used melee dual weild, ran her to one end, then I ran to other end, lit a bunch of fires, fight her. lure her back to first end, run back light more fires, rinse repeat. No armour needed. 10+ fires make the fight much easier

Wow, spoiler alert much? Voldemort returns?! Jk :D On topic:

[spoiler=Plot Spoilers] If you've finished the new quest released today Dracae did a very good job of semi-predicting our ascension to something more than a humble adventurer, bravo! All very good reads, I like the suggestions for FoG :D Maybe it will get a brush up, I know they said they want to look over Castle Wars maybe they will do all mini games.

How to get around filters and play RS at school?
Birdd replied to Trinitydunge's topic in Help and Advice
No, because the game needs to be able to connect to runescape.com to work. Honestly, don't bother. Just do your school work at school. Don't risk getting your computer rights revoked or getting detention just to play a game. He came here for help on a tech issue, not your advice on his school work. Back on topic, this always worked for me: http://ctunnel.com/ If that doesn't work, dtunnel, etunnel, etc. -
^ You really shouldn't post if you don't have anything to contribute, in my opinion. On topic: I think Construction needs to see uses outside of the house. Now, I don't have any ideas for that but I think one of the huge flaws is that it only usable in a very small area - and that very small area is not accessed by many people at once.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
Birdd replied to Ambler's topic in Old School RuneScape
As someone who is extremely excited for old servers, I hope Jagex does not add any new updates, including GWD, GE, and Summoning. 07 is a great point in time, Barrows and Whips were on top, no overpowered specials - etc. I imagine Jagex would be extremely wary of adding any changes because of the outlash by the community. This isn't a new game meant to be progressed with only the good updates, it's for us to go back to the game we loved and know it won't change. If we want to play a changing game we'd play something else. -
If you have a chimera, a jade golem is superior in stats. I used mine during bowl but found it quickly outclasses in Pincers, especially with Horsehead
