Halo Signature For My Friend
I brushed the background and then created a new layer and pasted the render until it filled the background - merged them together then added a radial blur from where I was going to place the render. I then created a new layer and put the render in the origin of the radial blur and used the blur tool to soften the edges of the render and added some text and applied inner and outer glows to the text and arranged it to follow the blur direction. Yes there isn't a border 'cos I haven't learned how to do them so they look fairly good so I feel it's better to have a borderless signature than have an ugly signature. My friend likes it but I have still to reduce the file size. Any constructive critism is appreciated. I used PhotoShop CS2 for this signature

I just need some advice..
Reasons why you should go: - You're mum has obviously gone to alot of trouble to get you into this club, you owe it to her to go. -Okay so maybe you don't enjoy it, but if you talk to the people there you might make some more friends. -It will build your character - my sister's friend's brother took up golf recently - our school is quite good with after school clubs and has a golf club of its own. He has made his mum pay ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã20 for a half hour lesson (individual) because he begged and shouted at her till she agreed to it. He isn't going to make any friends because he's taking individual lessons and because his mum doesn't force him to do anything, he won't keep the game up for long. You are lucky. You have a mum who cares for you - I was forced to go to different things when I was small, and I have very little trouble talking to people who don't know me. While the boy described above goes to a room at lunch alone because he doesn't want to talk to people. And if you don't want to miss out on socialising with your friends, ask for a compromise: Go to the basket ball for one week then have a week off with your friends. Hope this helped.

Pentax have only recently ventured into digital with there *ist range, but they made excellent film cameras for years so they might be a good bet with their reputation.

Making A Good Photo Better?
I recieved a fair bit of positive feed back on the original on a thread of mine, so I decided to play about with it. It might not have been a good idea but I did some filters and tried adding a border (which, looking at it now seems a bit dodgey) after reading a tutorial in my magazine on how to do it. I blurred the whole image except the tree - trying to make it stand out more. Then added some appropriate text. I've not been very good at manipulations but I try so here's my attempt at another: Original: Manipulation: Be honest but not too harsh please :ohnoes:

If you're looking for a good beginner SLR - with manual controls and options to change lenses, I would recommend the Nikon D50. It costs ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã320-350 body only, well worth it if you want to be serious - it also as a good auto mode. I have a FujiFilm FinePix S7000 which I would definately recommend as it has a good auto mode for beginners and well placed controls. You can have full manual control if you feel comfortable. The only problem is, you can only have apetures from F2.8-F8.0 - which isn't a wide range, but you can get an adapter ring which allows you to get a neutral density filter which allows you to use shutter speeds that would over expose at F8.0 The S7000 is about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã250-̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã300 and has been discontinued so you might get a good buy if they retailer is wanting rid of their stock. If you want to see any of my photos taken with my S7000 with no editing, none of the photos I have posted recently have been edited so have a look and see if you like the image quality. The S7000 is definately a camera I would recommend. Click here to view my photos

Loch Lomond Photos
Here's the story for why it's been so long since I posted some photos here: My camera has a very limited range of apetures and I need slower shutter speeds. The slower the shutter speed, the brighter the image will be. But I use shutter speeds going into seconds which burns the whole image to white, even with my smallest apeture (smallest hole for the light to get through) the image get's over exposed if I use a shutter speed of about 1 second to 1/2 second. So I thought "I'll get a ND Filter" which lets less light through - like having a smaller apeture. So I go to my local camera shop - get the adapter ring - as my camera is SLR-style but I can't put any lenses on it without an adapter - that cost me ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30 but I thought that it would be worth it once I got the ND Filter... I then said, "Have you got any ND filters with a 55mm thread?" They didn't - they recommended I got a UV filter - to protect my lens, a polariser filter to make the blues deeper and nicer and a red filter to make the clouds stand out more. I walked out of the shop with my goods having spent ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã70 of my birthday money. "Right I have about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã40 left..." I like my macro photos so I ordered a close up filter from them - ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã15... "̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã25 left I'll get my ND filter of the web" So I go onto a website I was told were very good with filters... So I type in 55mm ND filter, saw one, ordered it was delivered the next day. I check my cash card balance... ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã20 has been taken off... That's strange, I check the website ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5 delivery charge! It's a brittish website based in England - why does it cost ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5 for a stamp and a parcel box? So I screw the filter into my camera and I go to the local park to walk the dogs with my tripod. Fall over, get covered in mud, keep going 'till I get a few good shots and then go home. *sigh* "ND Filter - ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã105. A story like that - priceless" Here are the photos I took that day: Ffeel free to manipulate any of the above images, but make sure you give me a mention and send me a link when you're done as I want to see the results. The comments on these photos are as follows: In what way were they bland?

Loch Lomond Photos
I went to Loch Lomond last weekend but found myself taking more photos of the boats and running water nearby rather than panoramics of the loch  but I'm pleased with the results. Enjoy! Playing about with my red filter - I think it looks a wee bit like lava - but it's not great but I thought I'd post it. As always, use these for manipulations but tell me and show me the results.

Well I can only use the light that's available when I'm there with my camera, but I would like to have more dramatic shots using nicer lighting but I guess you can only work with what you have. As for the depth, I am going to try adding more to my water shots but it's hard to do it without it making it look tacky :P Thanks for the c/c though I always like some negative feedback on my photos (not too negative though) :ohnoes: Please manipulate some of these guys, I really want to see how it would look after being manipulated by someone who knows what they are doing, so not me :XD: EDIT: Fixed spelling errors

How come you registered at Tip.it?
I joined when I tried to view a topic on the article of the Tip.It Times and it said I needed to log in to view it (or something similar) so I registered and now, even though I don't play runescape anymore I still come on to browse the forums. Infact, since I quit runescape and got into graphics and photography I've joined another runescape forum :? :-k how did that happen?

More Black and White photography
I'm not keen on any of them actually - and I like to think I have a fairly open mind. Keep experimenting with effects though. I struggled to see what the subject was in some of them - I thought the second photo was a picture of a cat (the shape on the left hand side) merged with a picture of a moving guitar (the shape on the right hand side) I might be one of those people who doesn't like what he understands though.

Walk The Road
Thanks, I will be working on my font and I will darken the grass and repost the image. Off-Topic: Why did the moderators on your forum kick you off? And more to the point: Why did you let them?

Walk The Road
I took this photo: And opened it in CS2 and then duplicated the layer and added a radial blur (zoom) to it (top right hand corner). I changed opacity of the blurred layer so it I could see the blur. After that I selected the blur layer again and used the eraser tool (200 pix) and erased up to the grass. Then I selected the path and added a photo filter to it (Warming 85) and then I adjusted the density untill the colour of the path looked like what I wanted it to. Then I repeated this with a different filter for the grass. Then I added the text (same font as my previous three manipulations - sorry, I will fix it when I have enough time) and adjusted the opacity untill it looked good. Here is the finished result: EDIT: I just looked and saw the manipulation was too big to fit on the screen - here's a link!
