I was worried about the noise damaging my camera. It was loud but the guy next to me was happy enough to take photos with his D2Xs, a very expensive Nikon camera. So I eased up a little. It was very, very loud. I'm not too sure I like loud fireworks...

Point proven. It is in the river, slightly right of the center of the signature. -Bloodangel Oooh, yeah, I see it now. Purple text saying skylight? It is very difficult to see. Did you mean that?

Anyone get this??
Perhaps you look at the clocks and see the "normal" times and forget them, but then see the "weird" times and go: Wow, that's 11:11 and remember it. Maybe that's why you feel you only look at the clock at that time? EDIT: I just saw the flame war on page three. Disregard the above if this is to be locked.

What text? It's a nice manipulation but the scan lines ruin it for me. As has been mentioned before, the original is nice to have for a comparison. It looks better from a distance though... :-k Off-Topic: I've got loads of photos ready for a stock pack, would you like me to make one up and give you it?

New photos: Update
I like the subjects, but your composition isn't great. Try to avoid placing the subject in the center, put it one third of the the way along the frame or two thirds of the way along. Generally speaking, that looks better than having it in the center. I love the first one of the tractor, the composition is great. However, the second one has the tractor in the middle of the shot, and if might have been better to have waited and taken the photo as it was one third of the way across your shot. Quite a few of your shots have a burnt out sky, maybe it was the metering of your camera so set it to underexpose by a few stops to keep the details in the sky. I've got the same quibble with some of the balloon shots as I do with the flower shot, move it to the side! :P That last shot is fantastic, this is one of the few occasions that putting the subject in the center works. The light is fantasic and the cloud obscuring part of the sun adds a touch of mystery.

Added 22 more photos, 21 of which are of fireworks. I hope you like them. I had a great time out taking photos, but because of the longer days now I had to stay up 'till about 2am. I think it was worth it when I see these photos.

I usually have a new folder for each month and then after 3 months, I make a new folder and put them in it. I divide them up through the year. It doesn't make things any easier to find though.

Just a wee post to say that voting has started on this month's Photo Of The Month competition. I hope to have lots of votes to count up. I must say though, I was somewhat disheartened to have so few entries. Let's not let this competition die off! EDIT: POTM May

First photos with my new camera!
Is that a 350D? 8.2MP, 1.8" LCD? Or the 400D? 10.2MP 2.5" LCD? I get confused with the different designations for the same cameras. I know there's a rebel and a rebel xti. But I don't know what's what...

First photos with my new camera!
Some great shots there, some of the flower shots are a bit bland, perhaps you should carry a water spray with you to liven them up. Your rule of thirds work is good but I like to point the flowers facing up. I feel it makes for a brighter, happier image. Sometimes a telephoto works for some animals, but I like it, it's comparable to a tiger in the grass, only not quite... :P Enjoy your new camera.

How much should I ask for my old camera? I've got a Fujifilm Finepix S7000 zoom, which cost ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã300 about 18 months ago. I've gathered a few accessories for it too: a 1GB xD card, an adapter ring that cost ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30 and is like "Hens teeth" so kinda hard to get hold of since its been discontinued. I've also gathered a jessops close up +4 lens, a Hoya NDX8 filter, a jessops UV-1A filter, a jessops red filter and a jessops circular polariser. All of these fit the camera. I have the original papers for it, I've got a camera bag to sell with it and 8 batteries (rechargable) I want to gather some money for my next lens, but I don't wanna sell it too cheaply, the filters and adapter ring set me back over ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã100 and the xD card cost about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã70 and I don't think they've gone down in price too much. Overall, the camera is in great shape and has everything it should, and it isn't a bad camera but I've got my SLR now and no longer use it so I thought it best to sell it. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for the asking price of it? Link 1 (DPReview) Link 2 (Review Centre

The Sig Rating Game
4/10, It's kinda funny since it's a contradiction in terms but that's all I'm afraid.

That's great, I can't wait to see some of your shots. My SLR has made such a difference to my photography, though I will be saving for a Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8 EX DG HSM Macro for wildlife shots, then a Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Di Macro lens and eventually a 10-20mm lens but I'm not sure what one yet... :-k Congratulations again, SLRs make your creative visions possible. (I wouldn't be surprised if this has been used as a marketing slogan!)

I'm gonna be away on holiday on from the 7th of June. So hopefully I'll be bringing back plenty of photos, I might use film for some of the shots too. I've ordered a roll of fuji velvia and I'll hopefully get some really nice shots with them, the only thing is, my old pentax's aperture blades are jammed so I'll have to use my aunty's camera, she'll be using it too, so I might not get too many shots on film. I'm just bringing this thread back up to the first page and I'm gonna ask again if anyone would be interested in my putting together a stock pack for manipulations again. The last one I made got a few downloads, but not many, but if enough people want a newer stock pack I'll happily put one together for you.

Verac & Torag!!! (Big File Warning!)
I think that they should be drawn at an angle rather than straight on as you have it. I find its easier to draw and gives the option to shade, I can't shade, but you maybe can? I've got some of my old drawings when I still played RuneScape. I've never been great at drawing so the limbs are at odd angles (some looking particularly uncomfortable!) but they might help you get what I'm meaning. funny stuff done!!!
I've done some terrible things for april fools day jokes with my parents' cars as the subject. Shoe polish on the brush for washing the car... Putting honey on the wipers so it smears over the windscreen when they are turned on... Putting food dye in the screenwash... The last one wasn't so good, but they stopped the car when they saw it. But I've done too many practical jokes on the cars, I'll think I'll head for the kitchen for a wee while... :-k

Need ideas
What about a bee sitting on a petal, fairly colourful and natural, the background should be pretty dark to isolate the image from the background.

Na, dont have a darkroom. I think it takes skill to mess with all those chemicals, I leave it to a shop to process them :) Mhm, Yeah, It's fairly easy once you get used to it. Although, I use the schools, So equipment and chemicals might prove expensive. I've got a Canon Eos 650 sitting in my Dads room, His friend from Mountain rescue was going to sell it to me, He gave it to me to try out and It never went back to him.. It's been a few months now :XD: So I think it's classed as ours now, Haha. It's got a 28-70mm lens, Which is compatible with my Canon, So that's good. Using that old lens though will greatly reduce quality though? It shouldn't do... It's an EOS lens so it should work fine and the EF mount is good for when you upgrade. However, the lens might not be of great quality its self but older lenses are not necessarily worse than newer lenses. The great thing is, that if its a good lens, you can use it on a full frame camera such as the EOS 5D or 1D The reason I say its an EOS lens is because Canon changed their mount from FD to EOS (EF) lenses.

You don't actually have to go to university though. Have you done your A-levels? I'll have finished my "Standard Grades" by Monday. :XD:

I might be doing a photography course if I can ever find a place that's cheap enough for me (cheaper than my dream lens) and a place that will take me, all the universities are wanting me to be of "school leaving age".
