  1. I know for a fact that I'll never be scammed through e-mail, because I know that Jagex will not e-mail me. Tip.It will not e-mail me. If I get an e-mail (which has yet to happen) from someone claiming to be from Jagex or Tip.It, I will simply delete it. We've all been told often enough to know that they don't e-mail us, they will use the private message feature. It's simple enough - they don't e-mail you, so any e-mails you get "from them" are obviously fake so you don't reply to them or even open them. I don't see why people who don't take the care to look after their accounts should be pandered to and so restricting other, sensible users' internet experience. It's their account, their lookout. Not our problem. I'm sure that many people would disagree with you there. I for one have been chatting to various members of this forum on the "Daily MSN Chat" and have thoroughly enjoyed myself as I'm sure many others have. I'd say it's a fair bet that lots more people have talked to people from here through the use of the MSN button feature, so I don't see why the people who "can't leave a field blank" (Heaven forbid there's a blank field and any "O"s in a book that haven't been coloured in) should spoil MSN for the rest of us.
  2. I'm sorry but this isn't going to be fun for you. The signatures are just pictures that have been slapped onto a background (did you make them?) There's no border, you should try to have a border on signatures. The text is hard to read and in some cases the render is hard to see. The fonts are uninteresting and in some cases small and fail to stand out from the background. The problem with your signatures that you've not put enough effort into them. I reckon that you've taken a render off a site, used filter piles or a ready made background and combined them and added some text onto them. I haven't used GIMP in a long time but I think you can download brushes for them (I think) Try some brushing, borders, read some tutorials and download better fonts. The one that you want the white to be transparent - save it as a PNG, that saves the transparency and keeps the file size down without reducing the quality like a JPEG does.
  3. .....huh? I think he's making reference to the person's build - saying it looks too fat.
  4. I'd seen something similar to it a while back and the snails were just because they were available to use, I wanted to see if I could tie them all in together.
  5. It's been a while since I've worked on images in Photoshop for fun and on the way home from work I picked up a photography magazine and used images from the CD provided to get what I think is my best piece of art from Photoshop. I used adjustment layers and some of the filters in Photoshop (sparingly!) Here's the final image: What do you think? :ohnoes:
  6. Sorry about the glib reply there only talking about lenses that you could get. I like pretty much all of them, your panning technique with the car is very good - I've yet to master that. Its a great idea to mess about with the settings to see what you can do. I've got a few things you might like to try to get some interesting effects. 1: Mount your camera on a tripod, manually focus your photo, compose your shot, select small aperture (F/16 or smaller) use slow-ish shutter speed (1/2s or slower) and press the shutter and steadily zoom in to create a zoom blur. 2: Mirror lock-up is a good feature for long shutter speeds. With mirror lock-up enabled, press the shutter button once to open the shutter and again to close it. (you must use a small aperture to stop overexposure and must be using bulb exposure mode) 3: Shoot RAW. RAW files are unprocessed files from your camera so you can adjust the levels, contrast, white balance and many other things without losing any detail. You can then convert it to JPEG. The files are bigger but the control you get is invaluable. I'm not sure if Nikon bundle their CaptureNX software with D80 kits. I don't think they do and it costs about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã129 to buy it. You can get a great free RAW converter that I use and is pretty simple to use. You can download it from here. Nice shots and hopefully you can expand your lens collection to have a dedicated macro lens. I've heard great things about this lens though using a Canon camera I have no experience with it.
  7. Have you got the 18-70mm kit lens or another one? Might I suggest a true macro lens? The Sigma 105mm F/2.8 EX DG Macro or the Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Di LD are good macro lenses - I've tried them in my local shop. They are both perfect for portraits too!
  8. I think I have something similar, but that's going out and this is in. For IE users there should be a similar program called Browster.
  9. Do you think its possible to get a job that is perfect for you? By that I mean that you don't dread going to work and are clock watching when you get there. You have enough to do without being bored with repetitive work that you loathe. I think I might have my perfect job. I managed to get a job a few weeks ago at my local opticians. After one week of work experience, I was offered a Saturday job there. My boss is great. I worked for one Saturday - he let me off one hour early - and was on holiday the next Saturday. When I returned the Saturday after my holiday, I was paid for the day I worked and the day I didn't work! A week later, I was given a 50% pay rise to ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3.75 an hour. (I was working for below minimum wage previously, but being able to say I worked at an opticians on my university application was worth selling myself short) Every second week, I am allowed to go home an hour early because it's not very busy and all my paperwork is finished. The other weeks I'm cutting, marking up and framing lenses and repairing glasses. Yesterday, I cycled up and asked if there was any work available over the summer holidays and was told that I could work for a week for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã130. My boss doesn't mind if I'm a wee bit late and if its not very busy, I get 90 minutes for lunch. I'm really pleased with this job and I know that it's only a Saturday job but I'm very happy at my work and this makes me happier working towards my grades for university. I was wondering if anyone else has their perfect job and if you believe that such a thing exists.
  10. I'm sorry for your loss. This must be a very difficult time, but at least you are comforted by your grandfather's peaceful passing.
  11. You could do what I'm doing this summer. Working. Find a job and you'll have money. You don't have to practice sports in the house or garden. Find somewhere like a sports center. You could save up and get a bike if you don't have one and go on bike trips for the day. Am 13. Am getting gym membership soon, but the only sport I am really interested in is rarely heard of. It is called Parkour. I have a bike. Go free running in the town. As far as I'm aware, you can practise free-running almost anywhere. And what does age have to do with getting a part time job? Try getting one and if you get it, it's extra money in your pocket.

  13. I agree with Thosethebrokes and Woopidoo2. Another good thing for close ups of flowers is to carry a water spray to spray water droplets onto the subject to add some interest on what, to be frank, is a bland, boring subject.
  14. I'm sorry to hear about this. My grandfather on my father's side died of lung cancer. I was depressed for months over this. When I got the news, I spent time grieving for what I was going to lose rather than enjoying the time we had left. When my uncle was diagnosed with asbestosis a few years back, I was determined not to make the same mistake and enjoyed every second I had with him. It made us closer and towards the end, it did make it harder. But it made him happy to be close to me and at the end of the day it's whatever makes them happier. You have to prepare yourself for some heartbreak and remember that when he does eventually pass on, that he is no longer suffering. I was distraught when my uncle died of heart failure during the night, but thinking back, I realised he hadn't died of asbestosis, painfully, but of heart failure during the night, and that makes me feel happier that not only is he not suffering any more, but that he died in his sleep. So do whatever you can to make him more comfortable and take comfort in the fact that, should he die peacefully, that he is no longer in pain. I've never been with anyone when they died, but I've heard it's comforting for you to be with them and hold their hand as they pass on. Make sure that you spend as much time with him as you can, if you don't, you will regret it when he's gone.
  15. Actually, I read somewhere that spitting on the floor was once a good gesture... I'll find that book... Aha! Henry VIII and his chopping block By Alan MacDonald This has nothing to do with that as it was a long time ago, but interesting nonetheless. I hate people who litter. Particularly those who are right next to a bin. I often try to make them pick it up but I usually get laughed at and told to "**** off". It really irritates me and I often find myself picking it up and binning it myself.
  16. Calvin and Hobbes anyone? Link Calvin and Hobbes was actually in a paper for quite some time (the name of which escapes me) but I'm not sure if it is still in it. It's very funny, though some of the strips are a bit hit and miss, though I think every comic is.
  17. I'm sorry to say but I think you're a little late. Studies (har har) have shown that revising something 1 hour after learning it, 1 day after, 1 week after, 1 month after and 6 months later commits that knowledge to long term memory. It seems you're a little late for that. I'd recommend that you try to learn what words to look for in the reading paper to look up so that you can get everything finished in time. I'm sure that you'll be exaggerating when you say you know nothing so wise up on your vocabulary, your teacher will have given you a vocab sheet I'm sure, and work on exam technique. Buy a past paper booklet these are invaluable practice for the exam. Good luck in your exam. I suggest you try that long term memory technique for next year's subjects if you are continuing at school.
  18. They can swim very well. I don't know where you got that information from. Oh and here's all the images of polar bears swimming, NOT drowning. Google images EDIT: Obviously they can't swim incredibly long distances, but the wording of your post suggested that they couldn't swim at all.
  19. We all get it, but the original post has nothing concerning global warming. Just a picture of cleared land. Nothing showing climate change, nothing amazing theories or discoveries. Just a picture. And the general theory is that Trees cut down>Less absorption of carbon dioxide>More carbon dioxide in air>greenhouse gass increase leads to more IR being absorbed by carbon dioxide>more IR emitted by carbon dioxide>climate change I'm gonna make a post tonight about the effects of melting ice caps is having on the polar bears. It's not just the loss of habitat... You'll see soon enough
  20. What about me? Am I too late?
  21. I've got my one ready. It's called Day Break. I've not had time to get a border on it, I barely had enough time to get the sensor dust cloned out. Good luck everyone!
  22. I only have one birth mark. Unfortunately, it's somewhat visible to the world. You see, it's on my forehead. I reckon it's about 1" by 2-3" and is bright red, moreso when I get embarassed or tired. I've had lots of things said about it at school: "who slapped you?" etc... But I've grown used to it and no one really bothers me about it now. :XD:
  23. Can I try putting my photos in? I'll be back from Spain by the fifteenth. So I'll hopefully have a few uploaded by then, it's unlikely that I'll have a border though.
