  1. Archive of Wisdom Guidelines, Criteria, and Requirements About the Archive of Wisdom The Archive of Wisdom contains guides written by expert players on the most challenging, broad, and intricate activities in RuneScape today. Have you recently read a spectacular guide? Do you think it's so helpful and contains such valuable information that it deserves a spot in the Archive of Wisdom? If so, we invite you to use the report feature on a guide that you think is worthy of AoW promotion! [anchor]pmgteam[/anchor] Have a question? Want some advice on how to improve your guide? We have a dedicated staff devoted to helping you and maintaining the Archive of Wisdom as well as General Guides! Don't hesitate to ask questions. [hide=Player-Made Guide Team]Jaffy1 Warriormonkx Gandorf61 Quyneax Mdeoxys Omnitec[/hide] [anchor]nomination[/anchor] Nominating General Guides for Promotion/Demotion If you happen to find one of these rare gems worthy of promotion, utilize the /!\ Report feature at the bottom of the topic's first post. In your report, please state the following for clarity: Clearly state that you think the guide deserves to be promoted to the AoW.Also include a short blurb explaining why you think the guide deserves this promotion. Note: nominating a guide for promotion is not a guaranteed thing! Each report will be assessed carefully by the Player Guide Moderation team. This process will take time, so please bear with us! You're welcome to contact us with any questions Everyone retires eventually, which leaves guides outdated. It happens to the best--even to guides in the Archive of Wisdom! If you see a guide that no longer is maintained, please report the guide using the procedure explained above. Criteria for the Archive of Wisdom What we look for... Uniqueness - Some overlap to existing content on our main website is allowed. Helpful links to existing Tip.It website guides are encouraged in order to avoid overlap. We will not accept any pictures or text that you've copied from another RuneScape fansite or from the RuneScape manual or Knowledge Base. However, new submissions will be not be authorized if a guide already exists on the site or in the Archive of Wisdom on the same topic. If certain portions of repeat topics are valuable, they may be added to existing website guides as stated above.Accuracy - The information provided must be correct. Please don't rely on other published guides - they may contain errors. Check your information in the game personally.Researched Data - a helpful guide generally takes hours and hours of research in the game, usually requiring the capture of raw data to analyse and present in the guide.Images - Although screenshots are not absolutely necessary for an accurate guide, we will only accept screenshots that you yourself have taken in-game.Required Levels, Quests and Items - Post all requirements to enable users to determine if they are able to complete the task and how to prepare for it. Including recommended levels for harder tasks is a big plus!Rewards/Benefits - Listing the benefits as well as definite rewards will help users to decide if the task is worth doing.Format, Spelling and Grammar - A well-written guide should be easy to read and understand, free from spelling errors and grammatically correct. Keep your guide short and to the point, avoiding abbreviations and online jargon. Use headings wherever possible for ease-of use. The few guides published on the Archive of Wisdom are subject to editorial review. Spelling, grammar and readability changes may be made without notice.Adherence to all Tip.It Forum Rules. Update Requirements In the rare event that a guide is considered good enough, then it will be moved to the AOW. It is your responsibility to ensure that your guide is kept up to date. If updates are not made when necessary (New game updates, etc), then the guide may be removed. Guides and portions thereof are subject to removal based on valid user feedback and PMG Moderators. Guides not authorized for AOW posting will be handled on a case-by-case basis. They may remain on this forum or removed as applicable. Copyright Policy We will not accept any pictures or text that copied from another RuneScape fansite, from the RuneScape manual or Knowledge Base. If you submit someone else's work as your own, it is plagiarism and violation of copyright law. If you try to submit a copyrighted image or text taken from another site, not only will your guide be locked and NOT used but disciplinary action may be taken. You may also be forbidden to make any further contributions to our website. If you are in doubt about something you'd like to submit, please PM a Crew Member FIRST. If you notice that another user's submission is material copied word-for-word from another website, please make certain of the facts and PM a Crew member. If you are absolutely sure you can simply use the Report button and identify the original site. Information submitted for publication on the Rune Tips portion of our website, either via the site or our forums, becomes the property of Rune Tips, and will be used as seen fit. 2. :( Make a design out of real life blocks instead!
  3. We are very proud to present our real life clan citadel competition! This competition is open to all members of our community and there are some awesome prizes provided by Jagex! ;) About The Competition This is a real life contest. Your goal is to create a representation of a clan citadel in real life! Digital tools are not allowed, but you may choose any "real" medium you wish. This may include building a clan citadel spaghetti tower, a pillow fort, a sculpture, a painting, or anything else you can think of! Your entry must represent clan citadels in some way. You can construct an entire citadel, or just one room/aspect of citadels. Just make it clear to us what you are representing! We encourage you to take a screenshot in-game of what you are constructing and submit it to us alongside your real life construction so we can compare the two! There is no limit on the number of entries you may submit, but try to put a lot of effort into one entry rather than less effort into multiple entries! There are no other rules or guidelines for the competition. Your entry must be appropriate enough to display on Tip.It, but hopefully that will not be an issue! Who Can Enter? Everyone is welcome to enter the competition - including staff members. The only people excluded from entering are Tip.It Administrators, since we will be judging! How To Submit Your Entry To submit your entry, take a photograph or a video of it. Upload your photograph to any image host (examples include ImageShack, TinyPic.com, and PhotoBucket.com) or upload your video to YouTube.com. Once you have the URL of your entry, submit it via private message to: OfficialContest with the subject: "YOURUSERNAME Clan Citadel Entry" You may post your entry on this thread if you want to show it off, but your entry will not be officially recognized as submitted until you send it to OfficialContest via private message. Deadline & Judging All entries must be submitted by 24 October 2011. Please allow 2-4 days after the deadline for judging and the announcement of the winner. Tip.It administrators will be judging the competition. Prizes From Jagex! One lucky winner will receive something special from Jagex! More information about this awesome prize will be given at the end of the competition!
  4. Very cool   I play guitar too.. RuneScape band anyone??? :P
  5. I think it's mostly just you growing up or growing out of games. Perhaps it could also be an interest/preference issue. Maybe the games don't suck, they're just not releasing many that cater to your preference or play style. It's true there are a lot of crap/clone games out there so that is part of the problem, but I wouldn't say it's the primary reason.
  6. I don't think so. Your biggest reason is that they want to "focus on other products." That would make sense if they wanted their current employees to migrate over to their other games, but that's not really the case. They've been hiring loads of new people to work on other games and continue to hire for RuneScape. If they were trying to kill RuneScape I don't think that would be the case.
  7. Added. We're going to get a second one added for anchor links later today but I can't be bothered to get out of bed just yet to make it :P
  8. Going the Distance - I thought it was great! A ton of funny moments and a nice bit of romance.
  9. Week 38 - September 9, 2011 [hide] [/hide]
  10. I'm not 100% sure on this since I haven't tested it but since the URL changes for each page you will probably have to use the direct URL to link to an anchor on a different page.
  11. I had never heard of this term before and honestly never thought it would be a big deal. Thinking about it, I guess things could get awkward if it doesn't end well. Now I walked in on my roommate having sex with her boyfriend (who also lived on the same floor).... that was awkward :wall:
  12. Posts Now Support Anchors! We are very pleased to announce a new addition to our BBCode that will be fantastic for blogs and guides: anchors! Named anchors allow you to create a kind of "bookmark" inside of a post. You can then link to this bookmark to jump down to certain sections in a post. For an example, check out the new table of contents in our Tip.It Forum Rules! So how does it work? First find the section you want to link to and create a named anchor like so: [anchor]namehere[/anchor] For example, if I want to link to rule 1.3 - Flaming, Violence, Harassment & Pointless Vulgarity I might put: [anchor]flaming[/anchor] This anchor is invisible and does not appear anywhere in the body of your text. Next, jump up to your table of contents (or wherever you want to reference the anchor) and insert the following code: [anchorlink=namehere]URL text here[/anchorlink] The "anchorlink" name must be the same as the name you made before! So for my previous example, I would put: [anchorlink=flaming]Link to rule 1.3 - Flaming, Violence, Harassment & Pointless Vulgarity[/anchorlink] This method only works if you want to link to an anchor inside of the current thread. If you want to link to an anchor that is in another thread, you must use the following alternative with regular URL tags: [url=http://forum.tip.it/topic/48092-tipit-forum-rules/#flaming]Link to rule 1.3 - Flaming, Violence, Harassment & Pointless Vulgarity[/url] For quick reference/creation, you can find the BBCode for anchors under the "Other Styles" dropdown menu when creating a post!
  13. Time for a new release of the: >>>Tip.It Times!<<< I'd like to remind people of the rules pertaining to Times threads: [hide=Read these rules before posting in this thread] [/hide] When replying please make sure to clarify the article you are replying to! Thanks! If you spot any typos or mistakes in the article then please PM them to me :) Enjoy the articles!
  14. I would do anything to protect my boyfriend, even if it meant sacrificing my own life. Honestly it would depend on the argument lol. I would side with whoever I agreed with. I wouldn't base my opinion on the person.
  15. Lol really random XD But kind of fun to watch :P
  16. Moderators have been compromised in the past. It's not something that we're proud of but it's incredibly difficult to ensure that ~50 peoples' accounts are constantly secure. We always stay alert to monitor account activity so that we can be on top of things and take action if necessary. The admins are constantly working hard to improve our security to ensure that everyone's information remains private and safe. We have put out several security announcements on both the forum and main site, instructing people on how to best protect their accounts by beefing up their own security, using separate e-mails, etc. We do the best we can but at the end of the day, it's also up to the individuals to take certain measures to protect themselves.
  17. Our database hasn't been leaked Some hackers may have admin access on tip.it, believe it or not idc. I assure you that no one other than Tip.It admins have access to our ACP. If someone else were to access it, we would know. We are extra careful about this and have multiple layers of security in place to prevent it from happening.
  18. I haven't gone back to school yet but it will be interesting to see if I can get onto a decent sleeping pattern... :P Right now I just go to bed when I'm tired and wake up around 12pm. But I'll have some 9am classes when school starts :( Ew. Last night I dreamt that I was a killer whale o_O It was awesome tbh.
  19. gunsmithman it's impossible to insert viruses directly into the game so please don't post false information as it could start rumours and annoy people. Any videos you've seen were either fake or your misinterpreted what was happening. Please don't keep posting this information. Feel free to PM me or obfuscator if you have any questions :)
  20. I wouldn't say they're worthless. I mean yes, they might be worthless in the sense that you may not learn anything relevant to a future career, but there are a lot of companies who will insist that applicants have a bachelors degree (any kind). Sometimes regardless of talent or natural skills, applications by people without degrees are just thrown out of the pile to cut the pile down. So if you want a steady job with a good salary but do not want to go into medicine, engineering, law, or science, it's usually better if you do get a degree, even if just for the sake of having a piece of paper that will help you get more job opportunities.
  21. I totally know what you mean. Honestly that gnome was almost the death of me :P I guess I just haven't gotten the hang of modeling humanish figures. There are a lot of improvements that could be made to it but I don't think I have the skills right now, and I definitely ran out of motivation after a while  I did use Blender and thanks for the tips :) The podium was modeled and the winner was a little half and half... I used a base human figure downloaded from a resource site (see previous comment about failing at human figures) and modeled the clothing/armour on top of it. I then rendered that separately, pasted it into PhotoShop and painted over the human part but kept my models of the armour. I basically did all that to avoid having to model my own human figure... haha. D'oh that looks so obvious now! Thanks for the tip :)

  23. RuneFest Players' Gallery Entries I thought it would be cool for everyone to post their RuneFest Players' Gallery entries! If you haven't entered yet, you should consider it! The deadline (September 14th) is approaching swiftly though! [hide=Contest Information] Link to RuneScape News Post The RuneFest Gallery Competition is not only a Players' Gallery theme, but is also a chance for you to have your work displayed at RuneFest 2011! The best entries will be printed out on high-quality art canvases, displayed at the event, and then delivered to the winners' home addresses! The winners will also receive RuneFest goody bags. What to submit You may submit any kind of artwork (digital or traditional paintings/drawings or photos of any "real life" crafts such as sculptures, cakes, cosplay, etc.). But the end result must be digital. So if you do a traditional painting/drawing you must scan it onto your computer so that you have a digital copy, etc. The artwork must somehow relate to RuneFest. Here are a few ideas to get you started: 10 years of RuneScape The stage of the 5 vs 5 Meeting the makers & insider sessions A Halloween party Fan celebration of RuneScape Golden Gnome Awards All submissions must be your own work. Submitting someone else's work is not okay! How to enter Submissions should be e-mailed in an attachment to [email protected] When is the deadline to submit? Submissions must be received by 14th September 2011[/hide] Here's my own entry :P It's one of my first times doing 3D modeling (though there is a bit of painting in there) so I'm kind of meh about it.. but it was an interesting experience. -------------- Jagex also sent Tip.It another entry. I don't know who the artist is so if they want to come forward that would be awesome :) [hide][/hide]
