  1. This. If you have a question about a moderator's actions, you should contact the moderator via private message. If you disagree with them all together, you should contact an administrator. But the thread in question did not provide much substance in the first post and was not really a question, but was more an *attempt* at a discussion (meaning it would be better suited for General Discussion - not Help & Advice). But before you repost your topic, you should provide a more substantial platform for a discussion. Simply asking a question like "Do you remember when.." doesn't give people much to talk about; they either remember it or they don't. Feel free to spend more time putting more thought and substance into the first post before creating a new thread.
  2. I'm not sure that's fair. I doubt SteveW just decided this on his own; I'm sure at least a few people were involved. For all you know he could just be the messenger. Maybe someone else told him "Post this on the RSOF."
  3. They have every right to do so. This guy's name is clearly on the site (so it's not like they honestly had to search that hard) and IMO they have every right to check out the fan sites that they are officially recognizing and supporting. Besides, we don't even know how Jagex found this information. Maybe they decided to do background checks on all the fan sites, which is a little weird, but they're fully within their rights to do that. Or maybe they received a tip from someone? We just don't know.
  4. I can understand why Jagex did this. Giving a fan site ANY "official" rank (platinum, gold, silver, etc.) is supporting them. If this were to come to light without Jagex's announcement, I'm sure there would be many concerned, upset, and even outraged parents/users that Jagex is supporting a site run by a sex offender. That being said, I'm not totally sure I agree with the way Jagex went about it. Ideally, I think it would have been best for Jagex to have contacted RuneVillage and discussed the issue privately for at least a few days before acting. They could have given RuneVillage the option of having the leader step down to retain gold status and avoid having their name/reputation slandered.
  5. Yes they will get more users and visitors.. but not the kind anyone wants. Apparently they had to disable registrations because people were joining just to flame and troll them. It might help their ad revenue for a while, but that's about it.
  6. I aim to enter into the computer game industry. I'm not sure what I will do specifically, but I will likely start out in an entry-level position (customer support or something). I attended two years of university at the University of California at Santa Cruz. I was a fine art major and wasn't that fond of it. UCSC and the fine art department is very focused on "gallery art." By that I mean, art that may not be aesthetically pleasing but has some greater meaning/purpose behind it. I do like meaning in my artwork but I don't want to go into gallery art. I'm more of a promotional art/graphic design kind of person. So in September I will be going to a new university to study digital arts specifically (University of Kent). I'm hoping to spend a year doing an industrial placement with a game company, but we'll see how that pans out.
  7. Lol I walked out of the theater during that movie. I thought it was that bad :wall:
  8. I'd prefer to call it "compatibility" over "luck" but I guess finding someone you are compatible with is luck :P
  9. I'm in a LDR right now and have been for almost two years. This kind of relationship will only work if you are extremely focused on the long-term aspect of your relationship and if you think this person could be "the one." If both of you are not extremely dedicated to making the relationship work, it probably won't. If you prefer to be in a relationship to "just have fun" or get laid, it won't work and frankly, it's not worth even trying. But if you truly love this person and could possibly imagine marrying them some day (and they feel the same about you), you should definitely give it a try and there is a chance it will work out. But you have to exercise patience, understanding, and trust. You will probably have to put more effort into the relationship to keep it afloat. In a regular relationship, you can often get by without putting in extra effort because "just being together" is so easy and that's often enough. But in a LDR you can't "just be together." You have to make an effort to communicate and find activities that you can "do" together without actually being together.
  10. When someone comes over to your house and brings a dog when they KNOW you have a cat.. and they don't even try to keep the dog isolated so I have to lock my cat in my room all night... :wall:
  11. I'm just going to log in to farm every few hours :P
  12. Personally, I think that if you don't have anything to do, time goes by much slower and it gets boring. I used to work at a smoothie shop. When I worked the morning shift it was slow as heeeeell. I was getting paid by the hour but I was basically standing around and like... cleaning the same counter over and over because I had nothing else to do. When I worked the afternoon shift, it was insanely busy and I was rushing to get all the drinks made. But when it was busier, time went by much faster because I was occupied. I'd prefer to not be bored and to have time pass by more quickly :P
  13. Blood Diamond - Sad, but really good movie.
  14. Sounds like a really good month

My cousin who is a photographer by trade (or was, been a few years) went to 400. All the ones they had at my college only went to 400 too. Mine does go down to 100, but I generally leave iso on auto so far and it's never gone below 400; but I dunno if mine would be deemed an entry level DSLR or not was about £800 new which ain't the cheapest tier going. I'd be very interested to hear what models those were then :P If you have "Highlight Correction" on it limits the ISO, which could be part of the problem. The Canon 500D definitely does go down to 100 ISO. It has a range of 100-3200. TBH auto = And if you're interested, it's considered an entry to mid level DSLR. It's technically supposed to be entry level but Canon's new cameras are getting so advanced that people often consider them somewhere in between entry and mid-level.

Actually most entry level DSLRs have 100-1600 ISO. Only a few start at 200 and I have personally never seen any that start at 400 (though I won't say they're not out there). Then many more expensive DSLRs even go down to 50 (and go up to 3200 or even beyond).

It's unfortunate that the focus is off on the first two :( It's a little better in the last one but it still looks like the main focus is on the ground rather than the frog. Other than that, I feel like the first two are missing some brighter highlights, which would help make the photos more aesthetically pleasing. It's probably due to a the time of day and/or a lack of flash? As for the grain.. what camera are you using? Grain is normally caused by your ISO setting. The higher the ISO the grainier the image. For outdoor work you really want to have it on 100 or 200.
  19. We'll probably wait then :P But I'll still ask if we can plan to do it in the future.
  20. I'll find out :) That would be a good addition.
  21. Anyone who doesn't act like a jerk or a troll is good enough for me :P
  22. Soul Surfer - Not bad. I got all nervous during the shark scene and then it wasn't that bad :P It was over in like 2 seconds.
  23. As I told my boyfriend.. A Storm of Swords is about 1.5x as long as A Clash of Kings. As such, I expect it to be at least 1.5x as good :P EDIT: Okay I decided to write up my main problems with the characters, which will then shed some light on my problems with the events and the books as a whole. Doing it by characters because it's easier for me :P [hide=Spoilers]Arya I absolutely love her. I think she is the coolest character. I guess the main problem I have here is that her story is written so realistically. And I guess that's a good thing, but for a story, that makes things slow... because life is slow. She is young so she's not totally kick ass/epic (yet?) and she still has a lot of growing up to do. But since I love her desire to be a pro swordsman and her logic and her will to fight and speak her mind, etc., I keep wanting and expecting her to do awesome things. But at the end of the day she is just a 10 year old so there's not much she can do. So maybe at some point she'll be able to do some awesome things, but the time isn't really there yet. She did have a few great moments towards the end of A Clash of Kings but that's not even the beginning of what I hope for her. I also really want her to reunite with her wolf. I keep waiting for that to happen and every time it they mention wolves in her chapter but it doesn't happen I get disappointed. Also I totally want her and Gendry to fall in love... but then once again, I remember that she's 10. Sansa At first I absolutely despised her. She was such a stupid brat. Now that she has realized how stupid Joffrey is she has gotten better. But in her chapters I feel like nothing exciting happens. We gain information in her chapters and we see her start to plot to escape... but nothing actually *happens*. It all just feels like idle chatter to me and doesn't particularly interest me. Tyrion I guess I enjoy his wit, but I honestly like his character in the movie a lot more than the book. I can't decide if I actually like him or not, mostly because I dislike what he represents (Lannisters). It's like one minute he does something cool and the next he's annoying me. So I'm kind of stuck in the middle with him. Once again, his chapters aren't of particular interest to me because I feel like most of it is idle political chatter, except for that one battle near the end of A Clash of Kings. The chapters are just scheming and politics, which aren't really my thing. Bran Meh. I felt sorry for him in A Game of Thrones but since then, his character has just gotten a little boring and stale IMO. He just spent a lot of time moping, which is understandable given what happened to him, but not very fun to read. In his chapters it's mostly just listening in on conversations and picking up bits and pieces. Once again, all chatter and not much actually happening. Jon I don't mind his character so much, but his section of the book hasn't interested me. I feel like I've been given no reason to become attached to the Night's Watch or anything beyond the wall. Then when they finally do go beyond the wall, it was like 5+ chapters worth of just walking around and finding a random cloak and arrowheads, etc. before anything exciting actually happened (Jon "pretending" to yield). Catelyn Once again, I don't really mind her character. I don't dislike her but I have not grown attached to her either. One thing that irks me here is that any exciting bits that occur around her are given to us "second hand" through Catelyn. For example, Robb's battles. We hear about them mostly through Catelyn's chapters but we don't actually see the intensity. We just see her receiving letters about how he won x battle or did y and z, etc. Just hearing about it like that isn't particularly thrilling. Davos I honestly just never cared about him. At all. Theon I don't really care about him. His chapters haven't interest me. Although I did LOL when he was hitting on his sister. That was hilarious. Daenerys I LOVE her and I'm totally rooting for her. She was my favourite character from the start. At first I couldn't get enough of her chapters. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next and I was so disappointed that there were so few of them... but about 1/4 or 1/2 way through A Clash of Kings I realized that her chapters had completely and 100% come to a halt. After she settled down in that city literally nothing happened. Nothing at all. It was just chapter after chapter of, "I could use a bunch of ships," "No I will not marry you," "Hm what should I do now?" It got dreadfully boring and disappointing. I want her to do something and I want her dragons to grow up and be epic. [/hide]
  24. Idk, maybe it was the way it was written but it just never felt very intense or exciting to me D: Especially with Winterfell... [hide=Half Spoiler]I was thinking, "It's just a castle.. I'm sure they'll get it back." And no one I really cared about died. Even when he tried to be tricky about Bran and Rickon it seemed really obvious to me that they were both still alive.[/hide] I must have strange standards.
