This will be my fire cape blog, from now until I get it. First off, my stats: I was f2p for 10 months, and have only been a member for 1, so that's why all my members stats are low. I'm also constantly poor, too poor for Guthans, so I plan to use muggi's guide, although I'm too poor for some of the equipment. Here's my current plan, and costs: Verac's helm - 2800k Kharil's leathertop - 250k Verac's kilt - Already have Barrows gloves - Already have 2 Crystal bows - 1800k total Unholy Symbol - Craft Snakeskin boots - Have Ring of Recoil - Have Legends Cape - Have 3 ranging pots - Need to find person to make 6 saradomin brews - Need to find person to make 18 super stat restores - 225K Total cost: 5075K, or about 5M I only have about 100k now, so I have some serious money making to do. My ranged is also slightly low for a cape, so I decided to do them both at once, and raise range on blue dragons. According to the tipit calc, I need to range almost exactly 1000 blue dragons to 75 range. I plan to sell the hides at 2.2K each (2.2M) and bones at 2.6K each (2.6M) for a total of 4.8M. I will do all clues along the way, and likely get that last little bit from them. If I get extra (Robin Hood hat FTW!) I will buy ranger boots and possibly an archer ring. I also want 80 hp before trying, just one more level. If I don't get it off blues ranging, I will get it from greens meleeing raising defence. I also plan to get 60 prayer (1 more level) before my first attempt. Hopefully I will get a defence level and a hitpoints level at the greens, then will ectofunctus some of the bones to 60, and sell the rest of the bones and hides for more money. And so I'm off to ranging blues in the ogre enclave. Wish me luck. Day 1 of ranging: I reached 71 ranged today. I also got 1 lvl 3 clue, which was a real pain. First it sent me to the wildy agility course, then to the elf lands, then to the greater demons, then back to the elf lands, and finished in the dark warriors castle. I got 3K cash, a rune dagger, a rune pick, and rune legs. It was my 6th level 3 clue, and I still haven't gotten better than a sara page 4. End of Day 1 Ranged: 71/75 Dragons killed: 192/1000 Money from hides and bones: 921K HP: 79/80 Prayer: 59/60 Day 2 of ranging: Today I reached 72 ranged. Almost halfway there! I also got a relatively easy level 3 clue that gave me rune legs, rune full, and a rune pick. Thats not bad, but after 7 lvl 3 clues I'd think that I'd get at least one special treasure trails item. Oh well, maybe the next one. I also got about 170 blues killed today. End of day 2 Ranged: 72/75 Dragons killed: 372/1000 Money from hides and bones: 1748K HP: 79/80 Prayer: 59/60 Day 3 Today, my whole day turned around in an instant. I did get about 200 dragons killed and got a level to 73 ranged, but I did something really stupid. I had accidentally gotten blasted by dragonfire (19 damage) when a dragon spawned while I was still retrieving arrows, so I wasn't at full health to begin with. But then I got back to my safespot and decided to special the dragon. So I clicked on the special bar, right clicked on the dragon, and clicked "Attack Ogre shaman". Before my guy even launched his first arrow I tried to stop him, knowing about the shaman's deadly powers, but it was too late. I got hit twin 30s as my specials hit, and because of the dragonfire I was at exactly 60 health. Just perfect. I hit the ground and spawned in Fally missing my legends cape, snakeskin boots, 1200 steel arrows, magic shortbow, and black dragonhide top and bottom. I bought back what I lost, and decided to just do 1 more load then call it a night. The last dragon of that load dropped a clue, which I've never had good luck with, but I decided to do it anyway. After several clues it sent me to the axe hut in 56 wildy, and I made it there safely, killed my zammy wizard, got my chest... And its my best yet. Magic Shortbow, rune dagger, two rune picks, and a black cavlier! So I ran out of the wildy, made it out without getting p'ked, and switched to world 2. I thought that the black cavlier was worth about 350k, so when somebody offered to buy for 1.05M I was pleasantly surprised. I looked around, and found the place where ranger boots are sold. All the people were selling for about 1.1M, but I managed to get a pair for 1M even. Now when I try for a fire cape, I will be using Ranger Boots. :D End of Day 3 Dragons killed: 564/1000 Money from hides/bones: 2650K Ranged Level: 73/75 Prayer level: 59/60 Hitpoints Level: 79/80 Day 4 I didn't have much time online, so only got a few dragons killed. No levels, no clues, just boring killing. I'm currently 40k xp to 74 ranged, so I hope to get it tomorrow. I spent alot of my time today trying to get a grappling hook to speed up banking in yanille, but after over an hour of getting materials and looking for smithers and fletchers, I found out that a finished grappling hook is untradeable. You need 59 fletching to make it, and although that doesn't seem like alot (I have lots of skills much higher), I decided that it would take too much time away from ranging blues to get it now. Maybe later. I am thinking about the uses some of the enchanted bolts (blood, super poison, and water wave ones especially) might have for the fight caves. I'll give other people more time to test them before deciding. End of Day 4 Dragons killed: 696 Money from hides/bones: 3341K (+ranger boots) Ranged level: 73/75 Prayer level: 59/60 Hitpoints level: 79/80 Day 5 Today was my worst day yet. I got a clue that gave about 20 laws, 25 firelighters, and black d'hide legs. Then, once I got back to the blue dragons, I had a most unfortunate instance of lag. The lag hit before I reached my safespot, and while I was in my full ranging gear. By the time it wore off, I was in lumby, with messages about being hit by dragonfire 6 times. I lost my legends cape, magic shortbow, about 1.5k iron arrows, ring of wealth, black d'hide top and bottom, AND MY RANGER BOOTS! I bought another black d'hide top, and got more of everything else I lost out of my bank except for my lost wealth and ranger boots. I decided to use my old snakeskin boots and a ring of life (maybe if I get lag again it'll save me). Anyway, now I'm back to ranging more blues, killing them for more money. I will now make my first attempt at a fire cape without ranger boots unless I happen to get lucky from another treasure trail. I got 74 ranged right after going back to blues, and decided to do roving elves. I finished it no problems, and got a crystal bow 2/10 from it. With my crystal bow, I went back to the blues, and hit a 15 on rapid with the bow 2/10. Thats a good sign about what happen in the caves with a 10/10 bow and a ranging potion. Anyway, I finished off that bow really fast, and got a clue. It wasn't too hard, and gave me 2 saradomin page 1s along with some laws and 12 sharks. I believe I can sell the pages for 100k each, so the 200k isn't the robin I was hoping for, but still quite a decent reward. Current dragons killed: 864 Money from hides/bones: 4147K (-ranger boots :() Ranged level: 74/75 Prayer level: 59/60 Hitpoints level: 79/80 End of Day 5 Day 6 Today was a great day. I reached 1K drags today, and sold my hides (2k each) and bones (2.5k each), giving me 4.5M. I bought veracs helm for 2.65M, and kharils top for 150k. I sold some extra p pots and sharks that I had, and recharged both crystal seeds that I had. Then I bought some super stat restores, and some saradomin brews. I had my ranged pots made a few days ago, so now I have ALL my equipment for the caves. Now I just need to get that hp and prayer level. So once again I'm off to ranging blues. This time, I'm only going after 80 killed, luckily. Hallies are way too slow for my tastes, and the prayer suckers can still get me.

Like I said, I'm poor. Can't afford fury or archer ring. Only about 1M now, but I'm going to do barrows until I have about 5-6M to spare. Figure 2M for bows and kharil's top, 2.6M for veracs helm, and 400k for pots. If I really need more I could get more, but that depends on how much a fury/ranger boots/archer ring would help. I have 76 defence (raising to 80), 78 hp (raising to 80+), and 59 prayer (raising to 60). I can't afford guthan's, and muggi's method seems to work great. Now just to get enough money for veracs helm, ranger, boots, and 2 crystal bows...

Do not underestimate that boss. I did, and died (at 96 combat) with whip, warrior helm, glory, rune defender, and rune plate and legs. Lost helm, glory, and defender. Prayer does NOT work. Meleeing isn't great, so try mage or range.

At what ranged level should I try for the fire cape (using muggi's guide) with ranged pots? Could 75 work, or should I try for 80?

Try doing barrows with this mage book. :wall: It does seem like it'll be good for dag kings. :P

Try being top 21 in attack, strength, defence, hitpoints, magic, ranged, and prayer, and still under 60 combat, lol. But personally, I'd say a fire cape at any level.

I've tried merchanting, and hate it. I think I can do it in one week, but in two definitely.

Well, I got members about 3 weeks ago, and have mainly done quests. I beat Hero's on day 2 as a member, Monkey Madness on day 4, Regicide on Day 8, Desert Treasures on Day 12, Legends on Day 15, and Barrows gloves from beating Recipe for Disaster on Day 19. Now I'm trying for a whip, hopefully by the end of next week. I have awful luck, so I'm not going to try barrows or KQ. My plan is to make nature runes for all the money. I spent almost all my money on various items as soon as becoming a member, so I only have about 150K to work with, but tons of supplies (no rune ess). I did some basic calculations, and decided that if I were to craft 7500 natures and sell 500 I already have, then 8000 natures at 320 each is 2.56M. I believe that that should be enough to purchase a whip, and if it isn't, my remaining cash will cover the difference. My stats Day 1 Beat Zamorak Mage miniquest, and got myself small, medium, and large pouches. I also obtained a nature talisman, and then realized that I had no essence to craft. I had been crafting airs for money as a non-member, so I thought that if regular ess is about 15 gp, I could obtain pure for about 50. I headed to the forums, and was shocked to see it selling for 110 each. That would mean I could only afford about 1k ess, not the 7k that I need for a whip. So, I decided to mine all my own ess, at the mage guild, because I've heard its slightly closer than Aubury in Varrock. After mining for almost an hour, I remembered that my pouches can help not only in crafting runes, but also in mining the essence. I can mine about 1400 essence per hour, so I have about 3 days of essence mining ahead of me. I also got a rock golem mining pure essence, which I didn't know was possible. Current essence total: 3450 Day 2 Nothing interesting, but I got a lot of mining done, and still more for today. Current essence total: 6050 To be continued... Wish me luck. :D

I'l try that. Any other tips? And BTW, I don't have any blood, so thats why I'm using blasts.

I plan to fire blast khamil, water blast fareed, earth blast Dessous, and earth blast/snare damis. Three questions: Are there better ways to attack these guys? What should my setup (Inventory and equipped) be for each of them? What prayers should I use on Khamil and Dessous? My stats 77 attack 75 strength 75 defence 77 hitpoints 64 ranged 70 mage 55 prayer Any advice in general?

I bet some level 3 skiller like zzzamorak has one. He has like 50 slayer too. It is possible, look him up. Ring of recoil FTW!

About how many runes will it take to get a mage book and bones to peaches? Or to put it another way, how many points per rune do you get?

Yes, you can. Higher prayer would help a bit though, but its been done with worse stats than yours.
