Range training questions
I agree with Toast. Rune Xbow's are only good against high def monsters such as Black Drags or higher imo. Stick with knives/magic short if you train on fire giants etc.

Ranarr's, who drops them?
I get plenty of ranaars from fleshies on the 2nd level of Security Stronghold. Takes about 1 hour to get a full load of Irit or higher and ranaars combined (I drop the rest)

Hacked?
Some also take a screenshot everytime you click your mouse, so your bank pin in vulnerable also. I suggest altering your password AFTER running your scans, not before. :wall:

well finally becoming a member.....what shall i do first?
Do quests - and quickly. Many quests open up new areas, and travel opportunities. Otherwise walking all over P2P land will wear out your new shoes. Quests include but are certainly not limited to: Priest in Peril Plague City Lost Tribe and City Shilo Village Tree Gnome Grand Tree Good luck!

Help with animal magnetism
You can also get them from digging at the digsite, or buy off another player. There are usually screeds of people thieving HAM's, so just go there asking for some buttins. May take a while, but you will get some.

fastest way to level range?
Using chinchompas on Monkey Madness Island will get you around 200k experience per hour which is by far the fastest range experience you can get. Cannoning at Dags under the lighthouse is alos good experience, and lastly use iron knives on fire giants. Those 3 go in order of fastest/most expensive to not so fast/least expensive. I am not sure about PC anymore since the latest update, so I won't include that for now. BTW, using red chins will set you back around 1.3M/hr!

Cannon for Slayer Training: Questions/Advice
Thanks Sandman, thats helped me a lot. I'll try to ensure that I have 3k or so cballs in stock prior to each run of tasks - should be 3 hours or so I hope. I currently have a 140ish task of trolls, and am sitting at the bottom of Death Plateau with 800 cballs on me (and mage short :) ). This will give me a good gauge on cballs required per task/hour aswell. I will keep making my cballs as long as I can stand the speed lol - It takes a day of smelting/smithing to do 2 days of slaying, but for now the smithing exp is worth it. In time my tree seeds may pay for a few loads of cballs but I hopefully won't need to do that prior to getting a black mask or two ;) Wish me luck!

Will gold farmers, be the downfall of RuneScape?
Blaming pures for the number of bots in RS is the funniest thing I have read in a while. I suggest you make a pure and then decide on how much actual resource you are buying from bots. You will find that it is very little, if any. No bots are out there making recoils, rune plates, gathering zerker helms, slaying for whips etc. Sure you will end up buying food, and some might be from bot owners. Take note though that shark prices and lobby prices (cooked) are very similar now to a year ago. There was the influx of cooked sharks a month or so ago, which would have helped pkers (many of whom are pures), but this was a result of people wanting raw sharks for 99 cooking rather than an influx of pures wanting a huge supply of sharks. Lets look at the majority of bots out these shall we. Woodcutting bots at yews and oaks. These guys are these to supply the fletchers/construction guys and mages (alching yew longs). Flax pickers, solely to supply fletchers and mages. Rune buyers, again solely for mages. Green drag autoers and blue drag borgs, provide hides to crafters and bones for all players for prayer. Fishers, supplying raw fish to the 99 cooking fraternity with the sideline being cheaper than normal cooked lobs/monks/sharks for pkers. Only the mage is helped out by bots, now go to edge wildy and see how many pure mages there are using all those deadly spells! Good luck spotting 1% of edge pkers as a pure mage, or even using spells for that matter. In summary, the bots are there providing raw materials for the sole purpose of assisting players reach a 99 level quickly and cheaply. Pures do not influence the materials that bots gather, it is the skill cape guys doing it all by themselves.

Cannon for Slayer Training: Questions/Advice
I have just began slayer training, and have bought a cannon to assist me. I intend to train using a cannon (where the task is appropriate for one) for around 3 hours per session, so I need to know a few things about getting the required supplies. My question/s are thus: 1) How many cannonballs will I require per task of say 140 trolls, 140 lessers etc. In other words, whats the minimum number of cannonballs I should take with me to any given slayer task suitable for a cannon? 2) How many cannonballs will I go through per hour doing these tasks? Advice time :) 1) I am making my own cballs using the iron ore I collected from fleshies, combined with the coal I get from MTK = cheap cballs! This will allow me to make on average 2k cballs per day but takes up a lot of time. Is this the best way for me to go? I don;'t mind the slowness as I am getting smithing exp (albeit very slow). 2) With 92 range, am I wasting my time with a cannon? I don't have a crystal bow, but use rune Xbow against drags, and mage short with addy arrows against all other critters. Any and all advice appreciated :)

Will gold farmers, be the downfall of RuneScape?
To review the topic again - Are autoers bringing about the downfall of RS...? No they aren't, BUT they are having a dramatic influence on the economy of RS. Look at the price of sharks jumping like a kanga, flax and bowstrings are at an all time low, nats are dropping, coal is rising, drag bones are 1/2 price compared to a few months ago and even iron ore is rising. All because of bots/macros. I have no problem in paying top dollar to buy resources that have been hand picked by a real player (lets call them organic resources), rather than paying a lower price for resources collected by a bot - I'm sure most wouldn't. The problem is that no matter how hard Jagex try to remove the bots, they are unlikely to remove them all. Can they remove enough bots to not allow them to affect the economy? I doubt it, so we either put up with automated characters controlling the price of raw materials, go collect your own, buy 'organic' resources only, or just quit RS. If the falling price of flax etc makes you so fustrated you will quit, then RS is probably not the game for you anyway.

Hitpoints Imbalance
A good suggestion, and one that needs a whole lot of research and work to ensure that all the elements that go along with the HP level are balanced. I.e. What effect will this have on doing barrows, castle wars, Boss monsters, agility failures, etc. A new food source would also be reuired, or do you just increase the healing amound by 1.5 for all the food currently in stock? The melee guys will complain (and there are a lot of them). At present a DDS combo can 2 hit me! (with plenty to spare). A ranger/mage cannot 2 hit anyone, the mage can 4 hit if they are extremely lucky, and the ranger in 3 (exceptionally lucky). If similar prayers as peity came out for mage/range (or if peity included them), then your proposed increased will become almost necessary. Any invention of a gruntier weapon/better pots/jewellery etc will make a raised HP bar necessary.

Nearly fool-proof plan to destroy autoers! (for p mods)
A semi-decent idea, but it won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t happen unless Jagex completely change their mind about the P-mod status. The idea of being a P-mod is not to give them any additional powers over and above muting a player. Also, how would you stop a flax picker? An idea I had was that if 4 or more Pmods report a player in a short space of time, the account gets locked immediately. That way any abuse would be restricted to gangs of Pmods who would get found out pretty quickly and severely punished themselves losing Pmod status and any other suitable punishment. Teams of Pmods can get together for the betterment of RS, rather than locating a Jmod to ban the hordes of autoers one at a time.

Nicest Thing Someones Ever Done For You? Vice Verca
Nicest done to me: A stranger spent many hours walking me around Varrock, Fally, and Lumby teaching me the basics of RS. He also gave me a few essential bits and pieces to help me start out, i.e. full mith, and a few arrows. I am still eternally grateful to him. Nicest I've done: Give a friend 20 rune scimmys for his birthday (and a cake too :) )

Rune essence
Buy it on F2P worlds. A a member you will not be able to mine 3k of it, nor will you want to wait for 3k worth to be dropped!

Chinchompas to 99 range
Add another 8M on for prayer pots too! All up you will need 65k chins (give or take 10k), and around 900 prayer pots, and the ability to keep a careful watch on your prayer level for 35-40 hours.

What can i get?
33 rune plates - best plate for the $$ :)

Need 85+ Range...Where to Train?
16k knives will get you to 83 range. You need around 25k to get to 85 (both numbers assuming your max hit with knives is 9-10, and a 15% loss rate with the knives) I would suggest fire giants under the waterfall for range training. Good safe spots that the accumulator still workds with, and good drops aswell.

Monkey madness
Range him, and bring a heap of prayer pots. You go back often, so as long as you have 40 or so prayer pots in your bank, and some food you should be fine.

Can sum1 help me with my range?
I did fire giants til 90! Gotta love em :) After that I used some chins on the MM island to get to 92.
-
99 range
Iron knives at fire giants would be my recommendation. Ankous in level 3 SoS are good aswell but dont drop the rarer items.
-
99 range
If I were you, I would begin using chins around the level 80 mark. Use iron knives on fire giants til then. Around 10k of them should see you very close to 80 from 60. From 80-99 though is a very expensive exercise using chins, albeit rather quick (35 hours in the tunnel). You will need to buy yourself 70k chins, and 1000 prayer pots. Using a couple of range pots per trip will lessen the amount of chins required, but will shorten your stay at the skeletons each trip. I base my calcs on using 2k chins per hour, which uses up 24 prayer pots aswell (thats with 44 prayer). I get on average 150xp per chin at 92 range, so have averaged from 80-99 at this experience rate (might be higher but being a tad conservative!) I would suggest buying around 40k chins first and see how well you fare. Bring along the best range equipment you can afford to lose, a bad lag moment will see a ranger set on the floor very quickly. Also take all the prayer boosting gear you can to prolong your stay in the cave. I wear full black dhide, glory, accumulator, archer helm, ring of life :) . Bring a prayer book if you have one, and fury etc if you can afford them. In your inventory, make sure you have the greegree, anit-p pot, 1 shark, a tele tab, and the rest prayer pots (and 2 range pots if you want to get more exp per chin) Best of luck getting to 99, and I hope lag doesn't deal too many blows to you (I have lost 1 ranger set, and 3k chins in the tunnels to date - hence the ring of life from now on!)

Fastest way to make 85m with my stats?
RC nats, or catch red chins. nats would be better though. Nothing else comes close to getting a ton of cash per hour constantly (unless you had a ton of herbs/seconds on hand ;) ).

PC update perfect and fair for all
I have a rune pure ranger (92 range, 82 combat, 45 def), and have accumulated a few pc points aswell as killing countless fire giants along the way (around 10k of em actually!) Throughout my range training, I always found the pc points to be only just more per hour than my fire giant training, without the drops. I didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t use a dedicated pc clan ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ noone likes pures remember ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ so just tried to hop to find decent worlds. I always attacked portals only, and on the whole disliked PC. Those that complain that the range training is now nerfed, should use the chinchompas stored away in their banks, as there will be plenty more opportunities to use them with a 2 minute game, than a 30second one. I see PC as developing into what has always been available. A massive range/mage training area. Neglecting the pc points and concentrating solely on hitting with ice spells and chins for as long as the knight stays alive, without the need to use prayer pots (MM island). Good job Jagex, gf strength pures with 99 str and 65 hitpoints. Those guys will be the new anomaly in RS in a year or so. No pure is going to camp at pc strength training for the same amount of experience per hour or less than crabs/experiemts.
