The Touhou Project (For those that like a challenge)
So I've had a lot of "What the heck is Touhou" ever since I've started mentioning it here. I don't blame anyone for not knowing what it is, since Touhou is one of those things that are extremely popular in one place, but the rest of the world probably don't know what it is. In this case, most of Japan is familiar with Touhou, but not many Westerners know about it. Might as well make a thread to enlighten people on the subject. The Touhou Project: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touhou_Project tl;dr version: The Touhou Project is a series of danmaku shooting games made by Team Shanghai Alice, which is really only one person that goes by the alias ZUN. It plays like a standard vertical shooting game, so you don't really need to understand Japanese to play. You choose your character, your weapon type, and your difficulty level (Easy, Medium, Hard, Lunatic). You go through 6 levels shooting everything that moves and everything that doesn't move. You then encounter a boss at the end of the level. After the beating the game, you unlock an extra level, that is much harder. Sounds a lot like any typical shooting game right? You would be correct, but Touhou has one thing that makes it much different than regular shooting games (Besides the fact that all characters are girls). This is Danmaku: Danmaku (literally Bullet Hell in japanese) is a genre of shooting games where the enemies shoot massive amounts of bullets, and you have to dodge them while shooting back. From the image above you probably think winning is impossible, but only a few pixels of the bullet will actually make you lose a life. Bullets have a hitbox, and your character has a hitbox as well. They are only a few pixels big, so its very common that a bullet will have contact with your character but it won't kill them. Touhou is for you if you like: - Challenging games - Fancy shapes and patterns - Shooting games - The Japanese culture (AKA Anime) Touhou isn't for you if you hate: - Losing (It will happen often) - Concentrating (You need a lot of concentration to dodge bullets) Touhou games can easily be downloaded via the internet if you are interested. A demo of the newest Touhou game, Touhou 11, Subterranean Animism, can be downloaded here. Microsoft Apploc might be required to run the exe. All other Touhou games can be downloaded from here: http://www.doujinstyle.com/touhougames.php Still tl;dr? Watch this replay from Touhou 8, Imperishable Night and all will be answered: PS: The game isn't really that fast, it just speeds through the non-boss parts. :P

Justified Number of Refills
As long as you buy a drink at that location, you can refill as much as you want. Only restriction I see is that you actually have to drink all of it before refilling. Since that is probably the real definition of refilling, getting more of something you already had. Leaving and coming back shouldn't count though.

Button lag mostly, tried doing combos but they failed miserably. Mac...your next to feel the wrath of Master Spark. I'll give you a choice, do you want the Olimar treatment or not?

Why the explorer ring is great
Only problem is that you can't bring anything to the Custom Lockers, so when you get off the prison, you're still 0% run.

our bandos gdw situation
Ask some simple questions, get some simple answers: 1) Strength most common combat stat trained, most members have 70+ in it. Easy KC, and easiest GWD boss overall, with 4 independent drops. 2) Same thing that happened when Dagannoth Kings were first released, even though its almost been a year since GWD was released. 3) All worlds should have access to Lootshare, that simple. Only reason Jagex won't do that is because they want players to only do the thing specified in the themed worlds. Not like that stops woodcutters from cutting Yew trees in World 2 or whatnot, but still.

The Buttered Cat
Butter Toast theory completely wrong, there is no magic property of butter and or bread that makes this theory correct. If said theory were applied to something else, in a controlled experiment such as toast and jam, or toast and peanut butter, it would yield the same results. And if you want to prove me wrong, go film yourself dropping some buttered toast onto the floor, but I do not condone the waste of food.

Oh really? MASTER SPARK! Non Brawl related references aside... Lenin PM me when you're ready. I don't seek my opponents, they come looking for blood

I know, I blame Touhou for making me suck at Brawl. The first match I accidentally went off the stage, which gave you an advantage. I won the next two, then in the fourth round, you fell off the stage early and won. Finally, I won battle five. I think my lack of Olimar will be my greatest downfall, since I'll be using a different character each match depending on who I'm facing.

Been busy, and haven't seen Kcdragon on. I thought it was next match as well :wall: Kc PM me, we'll try to get it in tomorrow.

New advert... -Dark warriors-
There is nothing to discuss. Jagex doesn't have control of what gets advertised. The advertising company puts stuff there that matches key words like MMORPG.

Big mistake in barrows guide
I don't think we can include every possible strategy for Barrows, there is just too many. I could add a part about using the Verac set, since I've made a guide on that around 2 years ago. But usually our users go to the AoW for more complex guides.

Farming guide correction
Before, while I was still working on 99 Farming, when you paid the farmer, the compost you last used would remain there. I believe this was fixed a while back, and the only reason that it wasn't fixed sooner was that only a select few knew about this, let alone being able to pay a farmer to cut a tree for you. I've corrected that part, thanks.

Music Locations Corrections
Probably my fault, bad copy pasta. Fixed and credited, thanks.

Reccomend me a few PC games...
Well if you like a challenging shooting game, I suggest... Game is Touhou 8: Imperishable Night. There are others in the series, and if you do decide to play, I suggest starting with Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, since in my opinion its much easier. Touhou games are originally Japanese, but some come with English patches.

A little off topic but since your in Japan Kent, it wouldn't kill you to pick up a Touhou game while you're there. Popular stuff it is there. :P

Summoning Shards Price
Shards are a buyable resource, not one that can be extracted such as logs or fish. Take for example the cycle of making a bow. Producer cuts trees for logs, producer sells logs to consumer. Consumer makes bows from logs, consumer alchs bows for profit. In this case, both the producer and consumer make profit (At least that is how it was before). Summoning can't really be classified as a producer/consumer related skill. Sure there are producers of secondary materials, but one of the main components can't be produced at a efficient rate, let alone at all. This is the only reason shard prices were halved, because it is a material that cannot be made, yet needs to be used to produce something. Summoner collects charms and materials, and then buys the required shards. He then makes pouches. In a one way cycle, money exits the game, unlike the producer/consumer cycle where there is an even balance. I admit that alching ruins this kind of balance, but that is what money sinking skills are for. The main point is, if you could exchange your pouches for money instead of shards, it would cause the same imbalance that alchemy does.

Ow, he's getting the excuses in early. :P I think a Team Brawl would be cool. Me and mano together please? Yeah, Ive had this idea for a while as well. The team should be chosen by the people though... Ill need to find a partner, with team attack on. (Of course) Well Kent, if we got to pick our own partners, I'd probably pair up with you...then again it wouldn't be fair.

I have the feeling I'll lose this time for two reasons: 1. I'm not using Olimar 2. I've been busy playing Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, which is another fighting game for the PC. That means while practicing combo's on that game, I'll probably forget the ones I've learned in Brawl. :wall:

That last round had a run for my money, if you played like that next tournament... :?
