  1. Alright, that's 4 who vote for it, and one against it. I think I can do one or two by myself to give a kick-off. I could do Luchino Visconti and Stanley Kubrick by myself, since I own most of their movies. :)
  2. A camera would be a good start. Are you really interested, or?
  3. Yea, you're the cat guy, right? Didn't you make like webcommics or someting? Anyway, its hanging fine, good to hear you are doing okay as well. :)
  4. That would be good, then we won't have a dosen things running at the same time. :) I think it would be great if we could have do things together, rather than individual, you know, get to know eachother a bit, make up something nice and friendly. :)
  5. A loser for liking Phil Collins? What? That's nonsense, Collins is very big. I didn't knew he did his own drums though. Ah well, learned something new today. :)
  6. I was aiming for one topic that is stickified, where you can find a link to all the central topics. Otherwise we would have a massive sticky part of the forum, lol. :P
  7. Yea, one a week might be too much. I'm very enthousiastic, and since I watch about 10+ movies a week myself, but not everybody sees that many movies. One each two weeks or one a month would be good to start with, I think. :)
  8. Heh, I think a day top 10 would be a bit hard, since we've kind of got the international bariere, for example Robbie Williams who scores high in Dutch pop top lists is not popular in America. Maybe we could do a monthly top 40 or something, but I still think that would be very hard, and a lot of work. Those [central] topics were just examples, a "dance" topic covering techno, trance, club, Drum n' Bass, Hardcore, a rap topic, a country topic etc. All central topics stickified in one topic.
  9. Yea, that would be good to start with, not too enthousiastic. Like a movie every two weeks or one a month. If it is a real succes and people want more we could always cut back to a week or something. :)
  10. I think the bashing point Rick makes is very good, since this is an art forum it is very (to some extend) opinion orientated, and thus the line between bashing and giving criticism (sp?) should be very clear, as for the penalties given to rule breakers, that's up to the mod/admin team, I think.
  11. :o You don't have movies such as Amelie and Good Bye Lenin! at blockbuster? We've got a very mainstream orientated blockbuster type of thing here called "Movie Max" and they even have those! Amele and GBL are very mainstream.
  12. Hmm, horror always does good as well. For comedy I would say "High Fidelity" it has a bit of romance in it that the girls will appreciate, it has got the real guy attitude that the male audiance will like, it's musically orientated, it has Jack Black(!) and all kind of other funny characters in the movie itself. Everybody who has borrowed it from me liked it a lot, so I'd say it's worth a try. As for horror, I'm not really up to date what's new in the horror genre, but a nice (modern) camp horror is a standard win! [edit]High Fidelity even got a little bit of violance in it, hilarious. You should get High Fidelity for sure Insane. :)
  13. Great to see we've got a very open minded start of the forum! And what a coincidence about the clean slate, lol. I think the what to talk about is a great way to direct us and give a kick off to the new forum! Gonna think of a good movie to see for you tonight! :D [edit] A now playing topic, is that allowed, or not?
  14. It depends really, you need to take a few things in consideration. My thoughts in my previous reply are very basic and black and white. A band needs to think of it's continuation too of course, if they have no other chance to survive, I wouldn't blame them. But if everything remains the same but they do sign a contract at a big label, while they said they wouldn't, I don't know if I would blame them. On one side, they are kind of scamming their fans, and on the other hand, who are we to tell them what and what not to do, you need a very strong personality to not sell yourself.
  15. Since you're with a very diverse public I'd go for a comedy, nothing to heavy, that's for sure. Give me a few moments to think up a good one. :)
  16. Now there is a new forum about movies and music, and we can start with a clean slate, I think it would be good if we would start up some central topics to keep things organized. for example: [central] Upcoming album releases [central] Pop (for general discussion of pop music) [central] Rock (for general discussion of rock music) etc. Then maybe one of the moderators could make a sticky with the locations of the central topics, that isn't too much work, I think (I could be awefully mistaken though, if it is a lot of work I am willing to search all the locations and make the layout for the topic and that you just post it as a sticky). That way we won't have the same topic comming up xx times every month and thus keeping our forum a bit clean instead of all the good topics getting bumped down by locked topics, we can prevent a lot of flaming, the mods will have less work on modding the forum. What does everybody think? I didn't really know where to put it, so I just did it in the forum. And since this forum is completely new: maybe it isn't a bad idea to open a temporary/permanent suggestion topic, where the users can openly discuss and give suggestions to the moderating team on things to improve the forum, you never know who comes up with things others might not think of. :) I'm just shooting some ideas for the new forum, I don't know what other users and the moderators think. I might be a bit too enthousiastic, but I think it would be really great if we (the users and mods) could make a top-class forum of this! :)
  17. Heh, heya Tjerry! :) http://www.intervocative.com/dvdcollection.aspx/how2pk
  18. Oh, yea, but the set-up isn't that I am the one that picks the movies of course, and of course I won't go name old itallian cinema from the early 40's or something. :P I was thinking about voting, or pick a random user from the discussion of the previous movie. Maybe we can appoint a select group of people with different tastes and some knowledge to set out monthly 'course', then change people every month or something. And once in a while we could link things to the director topics. I'm just giving out ideas, of course. What are you thinking of? Yea, I really like this new forum! Gonna be great! :D
  19. There's a difference with a band remaining the same when they get succes and getting the succes with words they mean, and a band changing their music and words to get more money. If it is the first you won't see me complaining about them being on MTV, if it is the last I probably won't buy it since it isn't real anymore.
  20. Would be nice if we did try to see a "arthouse" title from time to time...But then it would be good if we'd start with the more 'mainstream' arthouse titles such as Goodbye Lenin!, Amelie, maybe a Von Trier etc. they're relativly easy to get. :) It would be very nice if we could keep up some variation in it, that we don't do a movie from the 90's every week, but that we also cover the older hollywood classics.
  21. Yes, again a movie topic for the "music and movie" forum. This one isn't that complicated though. My idea is that we pick a new movie every week and we all try to watch it. Then we try and set up a decent discussion about the movie, which not only covers "I liked the story" but will also look into further details such as the technical sides of the movie, the score, acting, atmosphere, details etc. Leave your name if you are interested, I'll make a complete list of people who want to participate in this per week. :)
  22. Introduction. Well, as some of you may know there is a lot of interest in movies on the tip.it fora, hence we have got a special "music and movies" forum. I was wondering if there would be interest in these so called director topics. In these topics we take care of various important directors in the history of (world) cinema. This goes from Steven Spielberg to Luchino Visconti and from Ridley Scott to Fritz Lang and others. Goal The goal of this topic would be to give tip.it users a wider source of information, and better and new idea of the term cinema and its masters, so they can discover new things they would otherwise never hear of or see, and thus expand their knowledge. content For the content of the director topics I was thinking of a biography, style analyses, filmography with reviews, pictures and a section of links to more information about the director and his work. Users who are interested to help? Since there is so much information about all these people available, and of course I haven't seen everything by everybody it takes a lot of time to make topics like these, therefore I was wondering if there are serious (people with a serious attitude towards the subject) interest who want to help on these topics, this could be done bye giving a review, a style analysis, making a small biography (not copy pasted from IMDB of course), looking up information that others can use etc. etc. Interest? Is there interest in these topics? Because it would a ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâwaste̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ of time if certain users spent their time and effort in these topics and people aren̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t interested in it. I think the best way to do this is making a poll in the topic and I shall ask a moderator if he can make a poll in this topic.
  23. I really like "Interstellar Overdrive" of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love", Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", AC/DC's "Back in Black", Rainbow's "Man on the Silver Mountain" and Neil Young "Rockin' in the Free World". Hmm, I'd like to add "Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains.
  24. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemus ... dID=111080 It has got biblical influences, it's really good, I think. :)
  25. I finally saw L.A. Confidential - It was really, really good. I really liked how they didn't really go for that homage to the 50's thing, but they just took a few elements of the 50's and pushed them really to the background, it was quite refreshing. When I was watching the movie I thought they had done that because the movie itself plays in Hollywood and a lot of things are a bit fake there. Later when I was watching the extra's I discovered they did it so people would pay more attention to the story and it's characters, which I found pretty weird, since it made *me* think more of the background. Story was really good and nicely influenced by things that really happened, for example "Bloody Christmas". The music was really great aswell, which was nicely adjusted to each character and each situation. I really liked the roles of Spacey, which was hilarious, he really made me laugh out loud a lot (and I was alone!) and Crowe as the 'mean machine' type of thing which he did really great. Crowe's role reminded me a lot of "Marv" from Sin City, I don't know who stole from who, since L.A. Confidential is based on a novel and Sin City is based on a graphic novel and I don't know which one was first. Oh, and: Veronica Lake > Kim Basinger half dressed up as Veronica Lake. :P Anyway, I had a really good night with this movie, what should I do? 8.5/10 or 9/10? Oh, and I want to burst out in happyness for a movie and music forum! YAAAAAAY! :D :D :D :D :D
