  1. I don't see why they arrest her. Sack her would be a better idea, or a warning.
  2. No, I don't believe in free hugs.
  3. The March of Violence in Bela Tarr's Werckmeister HarmÃÆÃâÃâóniÃÆÃâÃâák. The finale of Shichinin no Samourai The 'shoe scene' from Nobi The ending montage from Requiem for a dream The Girl hunt scene from The Band Wagon The monologuee by Ingrid Thulin in NattvardsgÃÆÃâÃâästerna (the one where she's reading the letter) The opening from Persona The ending of the Searchers where [hide]when John Wayne captures his niece, and then accepts her again[/hide] The scene in Sunrise when the couple is on the road in the bussy town, and are so in love that they get into their own world. But in fact they're in the middle of a crowded road. The boxing scene in City Lights Harold Lloyd hanging on a clock in Safetey Last The opening titles from Vertigo The opening titles from Kaidan The last (?) shot from Bin-Jip, with the hug-kiss The drowning scene in Europa The encounter between St. Francis and the leper in Francesco, Giullare di Dio Shutting of Hal in 2001:ASO The whiping scene in Otto e Mezzo Opening scene of Donnie Darko when he's riding home with Echo and the Bunnymen on the background The court-scne from A Matter of Life and Death The beauditul opening from Hadaka no shima. Marylin Monroe preforming in Some Like it Hot Opening titlles (Robert DeNiro 'dancing' in the ring), and the last fight against Sugar Ray in Raging Bull. The scene where he is playing midget golf with vicky is brilliant as well... Andy Dufregne when he [hide]has just escaped and comes out in the water[/hide] In A Woman Under the Influence, on the evening when Mabel gets home. When everybody left. Nick is trying to get the kids upstairs, but that doesn't go as simple as the thought. And there is so much more, it's hard to choose and I'm forgetting a lot of things.
  4. Played the Kanye West album a couple of times at work today. There are some excellent tracks on it, overall it's a bit sappy and sweet though. Favorite tracks are: Champion (Sampling Steely Dan is always cool), Stronger (the combination works pretty good), I Wonder, Drunk & Hot Girls. Don't really care much about the rest on first hearing. I still got to get into the Chris Martin track.
  5. That's ridiculous. Music shouldn't get banned at any place. No matter how bad the message it spreads is.
  6. How is Hostel scary. It's meant to be a comedy. You're suposed to laugh at it. :? Psycho is scary, so is The Shining, so is A woman under the influence, Jacob's Ladder, so is Das cabinet des Dr. Caligari, so is The Birds and more recentely 1408. TTCM and Exorcist are also scary.
  7. Curtis will sell more the first week, and Kanye wil do better on the long run. I haven't heard the albums yet. Fiddy's cover art (the photos inside the booklet) are pretty ridiculous. He's eating a gun? Kanye's cover art is even more hideous though.
  8. So she's selling the hummer to somebody else so they can ride it, to save the environment. Righ. Go Furr.
  9. Dolittle and Surfar Rosa are must have for any rock fan outthere.. Thanks for the recomendations. Dolittle has been on my "to buy" list for quite some time. i'll keep an eye open for them next month. :) And indeed, Der Himmel uber Berlin is a brilliant movie. Don't go for that romantic 'remake' City of Angels, go for the real deal.
  10. Heh, cool you like it! As I sat sadly by her side, no more shall we part, fifteen feet of pure white snow, hallelujah, God is in the house, Oh my Lord and Sorrowful wife are my favorties of the album. The other tracks are good too, but they can't equel these. :P Which was the other one I mentioned? Abattoir Blues? Or The Boatman's Call? Boatman's Call is brilliant as well. More intimate than this one, and it's all ballads. The band is so incredibly subtile on it, incredible preformance.
  11. Don't you order the majority of your DVD's on the internet? Yea, I'd have a lot more money. ^.^ I could ask friends from Amsterdam to buy stuff in import shops.
  12. I doubt that he knows what alto and bariton are when he has never heard of tenor. So I don't think that helped much. :P
  13. I don't see what that has got to do with the quality of the music though. But yea, those Jazz kids usually think they're very cool, interesting and know much more then the rest of the world.
  14. TOOL - Eulogy PLaying ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã nima again, been a while that I listened to a TOOl album. :o hm, sounds so good. :P Come down! get of your f*cking cross! We need the f*cking space, to nail the next fool martyr! *solo* woooo!
  15. A cornetto is an ice-cream. They're pretty good, and they have a little bit of chocolate at the bottom of the cookie. :P
  16. It would be nice if they just pulled the plug. People would have more fun.
  17. I thought I'd take a walk today It's a mistake I sometimes make My children lay asleep in bed My wife lay wide-awake I kissed her softly on the brow I tried not to make a sound But with stony eyes she looked at me And gently squeezed my hand Call it a premonition, call it a crazy vision Call it intuition, something learned from mother But when she looked up at me, I could clearly see The Sword of Damocles hanging directly above her Oh Lord Oh my Lord Oh Lord How have I offended thee? Wrap your tender arms around me Oh Lord Oh Lord Oh My Lord In the begining the song is quite calm, caring, even loving... They called at me through the fence They were not making any sense They claimed that I had lost the plot Kept saying that I was not The man I used to be They held their babes aloft Threw marsh mellows at the Security And said that I'd grown soft Call it intuition, call it a creeping suspicion, But their words of derision meant they hardly knew me For even I could see in the way they looked at me The Spear of Destiny sticking right through me Oh Lord Oh my lord Oh Lord How have I offended thee? Wrap your tender arms round me Oh Lord Oh lord Oh My Lord Then the second part comes, he's growing a bit more frustrated, helpless....And then after Oh My Lord the violin, the percussion, and here it all starts... Now I'm at the hairdressers People watch me as they move past A guy wearing plastic antlers Presses his bum against the glass Now I'm down on my hands and knees And it's so f*cking hot! Someone cries, "What are you looking for?" I scream, "The plot, the plot!" I grab my telephone, I call my wife at home She screams, "Leave us alone!" I say, "Hey, it's only me" The hairdresser with his scissors, he holds up the mirror I look back and shiver; I can't even believe what I can see And slowly while singing everything goes darker and darker, his voice so desperate, the violins kick in, the piano is more agrresive, the percussion and everything is so more haunting then it follows with this: Be mindful of the prayers you send Pray hard but pray with care For the tears that you are crying now Are just your answered prayers The ladders of life that we scale merrily Move mysteriously around So that when you think you're climbing up, man In fact you're climbing down Into the hollows of glamour, where with [bleep]es and hammer With telescopic camera, they chose to turn the screw Oh I hate them, Ma! Oh I hate them, Pa! Oh I hate them all for what they went and done to you Oh Lord Oh my Lord Oh Lord How have I offended thee? Wrap your tender arms round me Oh Lord Oh Lord Oh My Lord Ooh, brilliant. So much feeling put in it, and then it ends with a incredible finally, which is on par with the ending groove of Lateralus. The entire song is amazing, but especially from minute 3:40 till the the end. Man. It's the song Oh My Lord by Nick Cavde & The Bad Seeds.
  18. Hm, thanks for the tips. hehe. I would've thought that Cave was still a bit more popular, because he still makes music, and is pretty well known. And that maybe just like me early 20ers remember the things he did on Murder Ballads from MTV. Besides, if people listen to Pink Floyd, why would Cave be too old. :) I remember the pixies thread, I believe. I'm not very well known with them though. I got a compilation album, and debaser is awesome.
  19. Oh, Satenza, you'd wet yourself over No More Shall We Part.
  20. Then you've got to look more at his early period. None of their albums are really punk-orientated, so calling it really punk might go a little bit far (they're no sex pistols of course), but on some tracks they deffinitly flirt with it. But the early, albums. You've got to be up for it, where the last one (abattoir blues) is relatively positive, the older material is really dark, and, well, pretty hard to listen sometimes. Your Funeral...My Trial, From Her To Eternity, The First Born is Dead and also some stuff from Tender Prey and Murder Ballads. If you're new to them it might be best to check out their Best Of CD though. Normally I don't really promote them, but this one really gives a good view of what they've done troughout the years and then you can pick out the period that fits you best. Glad you like Abattoir Blues btw! I think you'd like his new project Grinderman as well.
