You can get a full version of Photoshop 7 for $100, I'm sure 6 is even cheaper, but I've never checked it out..

You mean you made a layer style? A type effect? Dun think good tuts has a tutorial on making actual fonts.. Anyway, if you saved the style, it should be in the styles preset area.. Go to Edit> Preset Manager> Styles and see if you can find it there...
